Scott Travis is currently with Judas Priest, Lonnie Vencent is with Bulletboys, and Doug Marks with Metal Method Video Guitar Lessons - www.metalmethod...
Doug Marks from Metal Method talks the talk, walks the walk, rocks the rock, and Hawk's the Hawk. This guy is awesome.
He'll always be awesome .
One legend here - Scott Travis.
@wvClifton Thanks Clifton. There was a work ethic problem. This was our first Roxy gig. For the second Roxy gig, one member was too wasted to participate in the final rehearsal. He slept in the next room while a roadie took his place. I'm glad that you enjoyed the interview. It was fun doing it. If anybody else wants to hear it you can find it at blogtalkradio or Metal Method's fb page.
I miss the 80s so much,awesome band,
@CalvinBecker13 I'm insulted. Those weren't hats. They were actually very large cats.
1985 I was 18 yrs old and this song still rule in 2023 the 80s rule I'd go back in a second 🎸🤘🤘🤘🤘
Just happened to come across this band and this is ass kicking heavy metal at its best. Great musicians and great singer. Thanks Doug Marks for building a true great band.
playinguitarful You're welcome. It's nice to be appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Doug Marks I missed Hawk first time round but knew Motley Crue. It is a shame you were not more successful but your songs are top notch, probably better than Crue.
Colin Luby I have to agree.
Can I get your email for the fan club Charles Wayne Morrill
@@DougMarksi absolutely love the singer’s voice, the best. I might have weird preferences to some but Scott Reagers of Saint Vitus too.
This sounds great..80s rule forever.
I learned how to play guitar from Doug Marks mail order lessons. I remember checking the mail every day waiting for lessons after ordering.
Doug thanks for The Lessons in the Mail in the 80s. ❤🎸👊
Marks is right up there with Rhoads,Eddie and Hendrix. This band one of my all time favorites. I remember ordering the guitar instructional vhs copy for my best friends birthday. He loved it.
It's ironic how everyone says they hated glam, yet it's making a comeback. Just like power metal.
Nice sound for a live performance.
this band was amazing, one of my favorites bands.
awesome talent HAWK!!!
an awesome slice of American L.A. metal culture of the 80's. I was in the Navy but loved it then and is so cool to look back on it now, even in the 80's I liked watching old clips of the 60's bands and even the 70's arena rock bands. If it's rock or metal history - its my history too!
I love that hair Doug. You are an excellent guitarist. I remember this.
They don't make great music like this any more.I'm glad I came across this excellent video!

Used to rock this back in school at parties in Northern California. Killer Tunes. Where can I find the CD now. I want this back. Very unique Band. Still shreds to this day.

Awesome!! Bring back the 80’s!!!!!!
WOW its Dec 2021 and have just found this GREAT ROCKING BAND they ROCK
This guy taught me some awesome metal licks with his Metal Method series. That was over 20 yrs ago.
Just heard about this band last month and holly shit, the album is a fuckn masterpiece!! Straight up true American heavy metal.
One of the greatest guitar intros I've ever heard! So beautiful want to learn it so bad.
Metal at it's best! As a fellow 80's Metal Head, I'm truly sad that I never got to experience this band live. Great stuff Doug!
amazing sound, guitarist is big with his guitar and riff, that sound rembember to me halloween party. Vocalist and his voice feel to me full of energy when i listen this song
The 80s were the best fucking time to be alive! Lord thank you for allowing me to be there!
The chorus bassline just kicks ass i learnt it know by ear
Yearrrrrrr, glam rock, ,,,,,roxy i love you
My go to song to blast in the car when I need a lil Hawk in my life!
Hey Doug, I bought Carvin products because of your sound. It'd be great to have this offered on Tab along with your song No one to love and others. I got your tapes back in the day in the early 90's as a teen. You are a Tremendous teacher. I owe a lot to those tapes and your other lessons offered over the years. I became signed briefly and a Grammy Voting Member and NARAS P & E Wing Member! Ive completed all ypur lessons levels so i suppose i could buy the Hawk CD and learn them by ear. Anyway, if you decide to put them out lete know. Also, thanks so much. I always be grateful to you as a teacher I consider you the best! Cheers, lots of respect 🙏 and gpod wishes to you and your family and friends. God bless 🙌
Hawk is great.
One of my favourite bands for sure, I would have liked to see them live!
Thankz for sharing the video Doug! 🤘🏻❤️

I'll be honest I'm a huge fan of this era but never heard of Hawk until a buddy of mine put a song up on my page he thought I'd like. Pretty kick ass stuff! And I must say this is the best quality footage from any bar i've ever seen.
so underrated.this video and the other(no one to love)is awesome.love finding live videos of metal groups in their prime from the 80s.Doug Marks and Hawk rock w/ the best of em.Hawk,Icon,VVI,Lion,Crimson Glory,Savatage,Lizzy Borden,Stryper,Shotgun Messiah,Cold Sweat,Saigon Kick are all very underrated excellent groups
Crimson Glory and Savatage are both on another level than the rest of those bands.
I really appreciate this in terms of writing, sounds and performance. Oh yeah- image, too! Shit, basically everything.
Hey Gus, This is so cool! Back in the day Charlie was the best! So was Doug (Metal Method), Lonnie (BulletBoys), Scott (Judas Priest).I know because I was there>

I never imagine to see a live performance from Hawk, I just love the album, the sound it´s just perfect in every second, it´s remind me a lot of good moments of my youth, I don´t know how many times I heard it...and I can´t get enough of it, I got the cd on 2002 from a reissue of metal mayhem music, it´s a shame you couldn´t go forward whit Hawk, but anyway thanks for a Great great almbum...Perfect Day it´s just like a Hymn for me...a big fan from Pereira-Colombia...THANKS DOUG!!
Damn damn damn this is so good
TRUE METAL...underrated!

@Constrictor87 Thanks. The amp was a Carvin 100 watt. I can't even remember what kind of processor I was using.
haha.. I had an x100b during this period!
Dude! I love Tell the Truth. Good stuff.
This song is a masterpiece to me lol I've been addicted to this song for a few years now haha I swear. Both versions kick so much ass in their own unique ways its awesome. The emotional conveyance is spectacular. All the musicianship is perfect for it. Just on and on haha love this song 🤘🤘
Doug Marks is a master!!
The good old 80's. I use to hang out there ate the Roxy all the time.
Had the mail order lessons. Mixed with "The Guitar Grimoire" I Learned to shred. Thank you Doug for the metal primer, inspiration and a great method for applying and practicing ones lick catalog. I loved your useful Hawk tapes with jam traks, I wore the heck out of the "Jam along tapes".
🤘
Larga vida a scott travis y q gran alineacion...!! una banda q no era tan comun en es tiempo... |m|
I like David Fefolt's voice for this song.
Me too, but this singer is horrid. It's NOT Fefolt.

Hey Doug I cant THANK YOU ENOUGH for posting these Vids! You were NUTS ON THE AXE!! The 80's were Awesome & the Music even KILLER! I was a teenager in the 80's & grew up on the M-E-T-A-L! It's funny when you started M/M back in the 80's I still have a few of your VHS Tapes from back in the day! Crazy Dude! Awesome that your Biz is doing great & your still jamming! Your ONE AWESOME AXE SHREDDER DOUG! It's Dudes like you that still keep it ALIVE!! Take It Easy & Keep On Rockin!!!!! \m/
@threatsig That's great. I appreciate your comment. Thanks.
@josiahgust I think it's ten or eleven. A couple of the songs have no bass or guitar because the sound man wasn't familiar with the material. The rest of the songs have no bass guitar because the bass was so loud in the room that it wasn't miked. We only captured what was coming through microphones. So, what you hear on these recordings is live except the bass guitar parts have been enhanced. That's why I'm stringing you along.
I cant believe just how powerful the guitar riff sounds live. The singer sounds like Vince Niel and the singer for Loudness.Besides that, classic footage. The ROXY during the midnight hour...and the innocent were chosen ! This song is one of my top 25 metal favorites. The mood within the tune is haunting and somewhat ancient....
@dmarks1 I just loved the hair and clothes , Londa did a great job for you guys !!! Also , the playing is from another planet , my mom used to go check on you guys at the Roxy back in the day and for what she told me , those WHERE the days !!
Inconfundible hawk con el método del metal de doug marks
Very cool Doug, and Happy Birthday Man

Awesome performance. THAT is lead guitar, taking off, skating over a tight groove, lighting it up. Never heard Hawk until now, glad I did. Should order your CD when I get around to picking up the latest MM set :)
These guys are godz ❤
Thank you. That's awesome.
Very nice Doug.
Here's another video from my friend Charlie Morrill's band Hawk. I have to say, that these guys are good. I really like Doug Marks on lead guitar. Hope everyone likes this, it's called Witched Burning.

Good old times....
Mudou totalmente a melodia
Hi Doug, I am one of those who bought your complete metal method lesson back in 1996
Another great band that didn’t quite break. Fantastic and probably better than most bands that made it
I never had a chance to see Hawk live. Thanks for posting these live clips. Mr. Marks you are one hell of a live guitarist. Are you currently working on anything?
Doug that hawk album is so great my favorite song is Battle Zone
wicked niiiice
Sounds like tht band Oz 🤘👈💪✌️👍🤞🙏👌🙌🤝🤙🤟
Happy easter!
Love your lead playing on this one, Doug. BTW I listened with great interest to your interview posted recently to the web. I think it's a shame you weren't able to go forward with Hawk on account of pervasive drug and alcohol abuse among your fellow bandmates, although I must admit I don't understand how anyone could maintain an adequate work ethic and be wrapped up in that shit at the same time. Thanks for all the recent Hawk vids and hope you have a nice holiday.
Doug Marks Yes Sir.
I believe this is Scott Travis from Judas Priest on drums in this band.
You are correct.
@batboy62 No problem
Yeeeeh heavi metal de calidad.
I like your hats
Doug please do a uli Roth instructional dvd!
Hey, can somebody tell me why the singer is another that the album version?
It's very different. Thanks.
slash970224 in the album version it's the same singer but He makes different voices
slash970224 this is charles morril, the other professional guy was david fefolt
Scott Travis was in Hawk? Woah
If aliens landed in 1985 then again today .... they would be certain this is not the same planet. "what is this sad place" Alien1 would say. "Certainly not earth, this place is angry, divided and depressing" retorts Alien2. "And the girls here don't dress up like they did on earth" states Alien3.
Hawk loves the cawk.
I love HAWK wtf why aren't they mentioned

Doug, the tone is so clear and dominant. Is that the Lee Jackson Marshall or the Carvins?
Who's the singer? He doesn't sound like the first album singer, more like the second album.
There was a 2nd album?!
HAWK started it all
Charles song
"No one to Love"
Said it all!
What do you feel when you watch these videos Doug?
@dmarks1 Thanks for responding to my post. I was thinking about everything that had to be done both on and off stage...it seems to me a person would be working 24/7, and then someone wants to throw a raging alcohol/drug habit in on top of all that?! It's a shame you couldn't have found some other musicians on your level who weren't strung out to go forward with. I don't know why people think that sort of behavior has to be a part of it.
Awesome Doug, thanks again. You're just stringing us along. Just about the time we forget about these, you post another. How many songs did you guys do that night?
Doug you guys are awesome are you still touring man?
Hey this is the singers girl friend .t.cgarkes is doing better then ever ..his voice is strong and guitar playing us badd ass .his new BAND ...EVOLVED... IS. G .R .E...A...T..
