Surviving a heart attack while playing Painkiller's solo is the ultimate most metal af thing ever
Not a heart attack, far far worse, a torn aorta, literally a blow out artery, had it been worse he'd have bleed to death internally within seconds
@@lucasaiken3978and lucky enough to be 10 minutes proximal to a world class heart hospital in Georgia.
This dude played Painkiller with a torn aorta. Nothing can ever be more metal than that.
did he tear his aorta on purpose ?
You’re right mate nothing but nothing can ever be more metal. You got it in one! I couldn’t be more proud!!!
@@PogU_4Lifefuck that would be hard to do mate
he is a gift for priest and the fans....saw him yesterday in dortmund playing.....absolute stagemonster!!!!
right? He's the dude carrying them in this next era of Priest. All eyes on his performance at the show. And the new songs on Invincible Shield...fuck me, so good
Lovely to see him doing so well after his health problems. Such a massively underrated guitar player, and he seems like such a genuine geezer
I was at that show, had no idea until a day or two later & I am very happy it all worked out for him. What a horrible & I’m sure certainly terrifying experience.
do you understand what under rated actually means? he plays for one of the biggest, most influential heavy metal bands. they have millions of fans. no one is saying hes not good enough.
@rat_king2801 I know perfectly well what underrated means thanks pal. By that, I meant he's not revered in the same sense as say.. players such as Dime, Zakk, Randy, Schenker. When he more than deserves to be
@@samswales9280 he is definitely revered on that level. at least in europe he is. i dont think americans realise there are heavy metal bands outside of their borders. 😴
@@rat_king2801 I'm British, and I hear absolutely no one talking about him. Whether it's good or bad 😂
The guy who blew some life into the band again. Will always be thankful for what he brought to the table.
This guy saved my favourite band. God bless you Richie
Richie is an amazing musician. To step in to Glen and KK's shoes is a monumental task in itself. He laid down the jams at every Priest concert I have attended since he joined. My hats off to him. Glad you are healthy again Richie. Take care of yourself and keep entertaining the fans.
I have seen Richie 57 times live, and try to shake his hand everytime he tries to go back to his house in Nashville.
The Sentinel riffs melt my face every time I hear it!!!! 🤘🏼 🔥
True that! It always sends chills going on my spine!
100% fact, sentinel and the ripper are my personal fave priest tracks to lose myself too. 🤘🤘
Richie Faulkner, was a founding member of "Voodoo Six" in 2005. They recorded one album before he left the band. The album "Feed My Soul" and if was a very good album. If you've never gave it a listen, I highly recommend it.
Seems like a genuinely cool guy.
2:18 Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child
3:51 Wild Thing
5:18 Purple Haze
8:27 Judas Priest - The Sentinel
10:12 Judas Priest - Halls of Vahalla
11:27 Elegant Weapons - Do or Die
12:27 Horns for Halo
Love Judas Priest and their music. I was amazed when I saw them for the first time when I was 16. And yesterday I saw them live. Amazing.
Richie is a beast, love him!
An amazing player I saw him with Judas Priest a few years back and was totally impressed. It sounds like he’s a great guy Also, Judas Priest really lucked out when they found this guy.
I don't know Ritchie outside off RUclips and seeing him play live once....but boy....this guy seems so genuine and nice, and has got the chops....how can ya not love him?
He's right on the "The Sentinel" - a legendary opening... pure Priest.
"If I could play that properly that would be a bonus" that was the most respectful thing at guitar player could ever say about the greatest riffs ever played
Agree....British musicians have that sense of self awareness
Great video!!! Richie looks like KK Downing and John 5's DNA was mixed up in a test tube and he is their heavy metal offspring! lol!!! BTW, I LOVE those RF signature Gibson Flying V Customs!!!!! 😍
'The Sentinel' my favourite Priest song of all time. 🤘🏻😍😎
man I love his signature V's..I will have one someday. I hope.
Richie is one of the last true Guitar Heros... His playing is very inspirational. And he Rocks.
Super humble guy with super playing ability! Love it!
Richie is just an awesome guitar player. Huge fan
I give Richie major props for continuing his career after what happened to him while performing. He is in every sense of the word a walking miracle. And he has not lost any of his talent. God bless you Richie!
That Do or Die intro is too good!
Richie is awesome 🤘🤘🤘
Very well spoken. Thanks.
Great to see him doing well! He plays amazingly and explains everything so clearly
elegant weapons is one of the most underrated bands out there rn
Finally was able to figure out the do or die riff after seeing him play it. Definitely has that sentinal vibe!
Please post a tutorial or tabs because this riff is really good and i really want to learn it but there isnt any tutorials on this song sadly
Richie is my favorite Priest guitarist. Amazing guitar player!
no he isn't Glenn Tipton was
@@adam2178 How can you correct somebody´s opinion?
@@adam2178you are telling him who his favorite player is/was?
@@AceCourageRockManiac it's a fact!
@@adam2178 He didn´t say "the best". He said "my favourite". Do you know the difference?
Awesome guitar player
One of the most amazing 🎸 players on the planet!
Phenomenal guitar player 🤘
He is an old-school heavy rock guitarist despite his young age!
There are guitar players, rock stars, and humble people in this world. It's rare to get all 3 traits in one person but that's what you get with Richie.
Richie, you rule!
The Metal Saviour. ❤
Hey Joe was a Leaves composition I was lucky to see the guy from The Leaves jam with Roy Buchanan SF 1978
es una bestia tocando metal este chaval ...like a BEAST!!!
Richie is a great guitarist, good thing to hear someone play with feeling and who does not sweep every third second
Well freakin said!! Modern "shredders" are revered for their lightening speed and tricks....they've ALL forgotten about the melody!
Killer player, hail Priest!
Sentinel and Heads are Gonna Roll from the same record, both so badass !
Man Ritchie your guitar sound is so (excuse me) fucking amazing. Dude it's thick and fucking rich bro. Man can you come back to loudwire and share what you have in your pedals or rig with us. You shred brother .
there is a vide of his rig on youtube, dont know how up to date it is tho
WOAW tigers that is a lion! a legend.🚀
Glad to see Richie value The Sentinel as much as I do. You feel invicible listening to that song.
Jimi Hendrix's playing and all his stylings must have been otherworldly to listeners of the 60's. As a child of the 80's it seemed like the standard by my time. It's easy to take for granted in the ages since but also as easy to listen and think "wow, this is WILD" particularly in the context of music at the time.
Thanks Richie ! Love learning from you. I teach computer science and share your genius and methods with university students to learn abstraction and solve differently.
Thank you for taking the time to share. The more video recording you do of your playing will enable us to keep your learnings and gifts around forever
Sure does love his univibe and reverb! This was a treat. Stellar guitarist and seems, all around dude
I have been privileged with seeing Ritchie live 4 times, once with Lauren Harris and 3 times with Judas Priest. He's so killer and highly underrated.
Lovely chap, great player, a real attribute for Priest and Elegant Weapons debut album is a peach.
Bad azz guitar player. Playing with Judas Priest that was founded 10 years before he was born. Awesome lad.
Love to see the Falcon flying…still one of my fav’s…THX RF for sharing your experiences…can’t imagine learning from records! That’s why U A Badass!!🤘👽🎸
Hope to see priest for the first time in march love this guys style .
I first learnt the French horn. Likewise, quick move over to guitar. "Nuisances" well said Ritchie. 👏 Voodoo Child such a influence. RIP Jimi 🙏 The wah and riff ✌️🤘 💀 Metal 4eva We are One 🏴🇦🇺
I didn't think Richie was a victim of learning in the Analogue age, re playing to vinyl. I learnt the same way and you never knew whether it was correct ot not, even when it sounded identical. Life pre internet involved dep commitment to ones chosen interests, cars, guitars and everything in between. Love your work Richie, a true exciting live player, superb timing and feel. Love to see a solo record with some clean tones as well as big valve crunch, which at 54yo, I still cannot work out why I love it and need it so much.
how do not love the guy!!!!! wellspoken, great player, the axe, the Falcon!! Richie
Halls of Valhalla is perfect Priest - That album is the best of the Faulkner era. I wish Downing was allowed to join him when Tipton was no longer able to play the full set.
Great video, man - I love hearing how Rockstars got their motivation - you and your band rocks, too!
Cool man! This guitar is so cool! Awesome!
That was cool Richie. Thanks for the insights.
Those are sweeeeeet axes, man. Richie is a wicked guitarist
Amazing talent.
I want that guitar damnit,

@@zachfloyd2192 gee thanks for the info
What a steal!!
@garycastronova7939 I tried to get one for 7k they sold out instantly. I want one bad too lol
truly amazing
Didn't know he was so influenced by Hendrix
Well, I fully enjoyed this
🎶 🎸 🎶
What an amazing guitar and how bout the sound. Man You Rock!!
Ричи красавчик. шикарный гитарист
I certainly Love Ritchie’s playing but I love KK Downing as well!
Brilliant guitarist great talent richie
Fantastique
His clean technique kills me!
Randy Rhoads learned a lot of music theory and I think it worked out welll........
It is surprising he is a Hendrix fan given his age, in the late 70s and early 80s the guitar heroes and guys who took way past Hendrix were van Halen and Rhoads
We need more Ritchie!
Thank You sO much for
doing
The Sentinel
Richie Faulkner

very inspirational
🔸✨⚡🎸⚡✨🔸‼️🎸👩🎤
when we were young in jr high
during the early '80s -
it was important for all of us
so whenever
we could be getting together to jam or hanging out
and we each would show our own take on
that opening
but just guitar and amp
no other instruments Bass or Drums
but we maybe sometimes
have the
cassette tape 📼
player
going along also
Richie Faulkner is cool I like him. Dope player too💯
Great guitarist
Richie is absolutely amazing!!! I read that he doesn't consider himself a shredder! Nonsense! He's JUST as fast as Zakk Wylde and his solos are definitely his own! The majority of the songs on Invincible Shield are extremely fast! Faster than any Priest song ever written!!! The solo on "Halls of Valhalla" right after Rob's incredible raise in pitch register is absolutely insane!!! I've played electric/classical guitar for 40 yrs and I can't figure out what Richie's doing - what scales he's using, etc. He's all over the place!!!
Richie is great. A small correction, Dylan has most definitely performed Hey Joe but didn't write the song. Billy Powell is most often credited as being the writer.
Billy Roberts an ex boy friend of Niela Miller, who claimed while with her 1956 Billy stole the song, adapted from her ,"baby don't go to town" . An interesting story.
I have the exact same upbringing and history as Richie...oh except he ended up in Judas Priest! hahah Seeing that Richie is such a Hendrix fan and formed his style in formative years I wonder what he thinks of Satriani- who I consider to be the modern Hendrix. if you've seen Joe live you know what I'm talking about. BTW, Dropped down a full step here for the blokes playing along!
More Richie ! !! ! ! !! !!! ! ! ! !\m/\m/
Richie would make a awesome teacher, please consider sharing your skills with us hacks
Very cool, neet stuff
"That WASN'T Purple Haze." lol. Class dude and great player!
First time I saw him playing live he was in Lauren Harris’ band: I was blown away by his playing and thought: Wow, who’s this guy??? Then some years later he joined Judas Priest. Last time I saw them live there was Andy Sneap subbing for Glenn. Richie basically handled with ease 90% of the solos, even those which originally would be split with Glenn. WHAT A BEAST!
He improvised nearly all solos of Priest.
During covid he would stream a lot and he'd play song requests and I remember he played holy diver when I asked him.
So glad to hear that even Ritchie refers to the second half of the intro to The Sentinel as "really fast picking". \m/_ _\m/
admit it, this is just Christan Bale with a blonde wig. very talented guy he is
Love the Hendrix and the passion 😎
Horns for a Halo is the best album in 23 for now, Ritchie, you're great, I hear that great early days inspiration in that, Jimi, DP, Sabbath. That is essentials of hard rock and heavy metal.
He's #1, of the best 🤘 He's like rockinroll Jesus
I still can't believe he had a heart attack on stage while playing painkiller (Perfectly as well)!!!! And fuckin lived!!!
He had an aortic aneurysm, not a "heart attack". Its a very different thing that has to have immediate surgical intervention. He was fortunate to have gotten appropriate care right away.
@@ChuckNicholsonTRM Also the power and adrenaline of playing painkiller. Maybe in a sense he became the painkiller! 🤣
Monster player 🤘🤘
Such a bad ass!
Great
his signature axe looks good from where I'm sitting. i'd love to check one out in person
