Just came back to this one after seeing a multiyear old clip of "Ozzys newest singer playing 3 favourite riffs" or something like that. I was thinking some years ago I saw Faulkner doing a solo thing I loved:):):) And it was easy to find. Nice one!
And to think that if he hadn't been picked up by Judas Priest, he would have more-or-less quit playing guitar and gotten a "proper job" is just a bruh moment
@@TLTeo ive heard many heart attacks happened to people nowadays.. perhaps it is related to the pandemic.. lockdowns, quarantine, lack of exercise, eating unhealthy, deppression, mask and of course some people are not fit to get vaccinated.

A very solid player who can shred without sacrificing taste and melody. A truly rare combination indeed. I'd love to see him put out a solo album someday.
Takhralifih That's what I thought at first man, but I think he was warming up, because he starts rippin towards the end of the video. ;) I thought it was good ;)

I've watched this at least 50 times and it is amazing everytime. What i like the most about Richie's playing is he isn't trying to outplay the backing track. Every lick he does fits the song so well, yet shows off all his technique. Truly an amazing player
His tone is quite proper, I like it's simplicity. Some people play through stacks and stacks of effect with I find unnecessary. I also thought he's using passive pickups and had to look it up, those are active ones. Most of the time, I find the active ones to sound worse than the passive ones - less dynamics and clarity with active ones due to some sort of compression or what...
***** I agree,,, I just saw Priest for the 7th time this past Wednesday (July 15) in Detroit. It was my first time with Richie though and he did not disappoint! Great concert and some great guitar playing.
Anthony Kailing Yes, he's just incredible! The passion and fire he brings to the show is jaw dropping. I saw 4 dates on the Redeemer of Souls tour, and he tore it up!
***** He is bad ass. No question. Not adequate for Priest unless he plays better live and in studio though. I'm a vocalist, drummer of 30 years and he's off in plenty of places. Trust me. Listen to this solo with a click track and you'll better see what I mean. He's a great player for sure, but NOT the best choice for Priest IMO. I must disagree with you, as I've seen 4 shows on the current Priest tour, and he tears it up live. Redeemer of Souls is also a masterpiece. Doug Aldrich is another favorite of mine, I"ve seen him with Dio and Whitesnake countless times. He's killer, one of the best! So is Reb Beach. But Richie IS absolutely the best choice for Judas Priest, he fit in with them right from the start and is credited (by them) for keeping the band alive. His energetic, mesmerizing performances have turned doubters into believers. No one is better for them than him. And bottom line is, THEY wanted him!
This dude is tasty!! Incorporates all of his influences and executes them all!! Just watch The pickup changes thru out the soloing. Brilliantly Done!! This guy is a chameleon of greatness!!!!!
Judas priest has always been my favorite band and over the years I learned to really appreciate K.K.'s " from the gut" soloing style. To me his soloing sounds more like hard rock than metal. It's just so close to blues that it's hard to think of it as metal, and the tone gives it a GNR/Motley Crue vibe

Agreed, he brings a lot of "old skool" licks in his playing, fast and melodic with some seriously tasty licks thrown in-definitely hearing 80's and 90's guitar players influences and very good use of minor pentatonic scales as well.
ahnminjea That's exactly how I'd describe it as well, the tone is pure slash but something about the playing screams a zakk wylde influence. Dude's a killer player.
