Am I the only one who thinks this guy brought Priest back to life?
There are many of us
Not entirely, but he certainly revitalized the band in a way they desperately needed
100%
Richie is badass
for sure, hope he keeps them going, who the heck could ever replace halford!!!!!
Anybody else remember when this dude was just some guy doing covers on YT? Now he's in Priest. It's crazy
what's the YT channel?
@@JLchevz his channel name his just his name “Richie Faulkner”
What?
@@stormbringer76 what what
i guess Im randomly asking but does someone know of a way to get back into an instagram account??
I was stupid forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
The one thing that I love about Richie is there's absolutely no ego problem with the Kid. He's awesome.
Hes gotta know hes supreme but he is super modest, just the coolest!
hes 40
@@theomaddison8689 lmao right
@@theomaddison8689what is that supposed to mean?
@@orestispalampougioukis6043Original comment referred to him as "the kid". At 40 years old that description is hardly appropriate.
Man this dude is one of the best in a long time.
I know, there hasn't been any new hard rock guitar god, like the classics, for around 30 years
And to think that if he hadn't been picked up by Judas Priest, he would have more-or-less quit playing guitar and gotten a "proper job" is just a bruh moment
He's the lead guitar player of Judas Priest! Only the best!
A natural player as Randy Rhoads was ! Changing scales with accuracy. My other favorite is Buck Dharma, BÖC.
You don't join Judas Priest if you're not the best ;)
He's criminally underrated...great player, tasty chops and he's got killer stage presence. A true rock god.
Just saw him live at Bloodstock, you're right- fucking great stage presence
@Uncle Gilbert lol....exactly. who is "underrating" him?
ДА!!!
Incredible, he''s got the rock n roll spirit, the looks, the chops, everything, wish him a full recovery soon.
What happen to him?
@@bewusstsein3527 Had a heart attack while he was playing on stage a few months ago. Luckily he's recovered though.
@@TLTeo ive heard many heart attacks happened to people nowadays.. perhaps it is related to the pandemic.. lockdowns, quarantine, lack of exercise, eating unhealthy, deppression, mask and of course some people are not fit to get vaccinated.
@@TLTeo you forgot to add the fact that he finished the set while having the heart attack! Thankfully they were on the final song (Painkiller)!
11 yrs later and this is still one of my favorite RUclips performances, and my favorite by Ritchie.
Just came back to this one after seeing a multiyear old clip of "Ozzys newest singer playing 3 favourite riffs" or something like that. I was thinking some years ago I saw Faulkner doing a solo thing I loved:):):) And it was easy to find. Nice one!
I can proudly say Richie Faulkner is the new road for all heavy metal guitarists. A pristine theory of ass kicking. My hero, God bless st. Randy Rhoads. Inspiration is unbreakable, thank you my friend. Richie you are the top notch to me since Randy left us. God bless brother
He's like a blend of Randy Rhoads, Zakk Wylde, Michael Schenker and of course, KK and Glenn. An amazing guitar player.
Yes, the perfect combination of humility, creativity, talent, skill, taste and tone.
I mean the guy nailed the solo to painkiller when his heart exploded in his chest, finished it walked off stage and collapsed.... Survived, then gave us the invincible shield album.... The guy is blessed
I've seen Richie live- he connects with the audience and has become one of my guitar idols. Simply one of the best.
I like players that keep their solo' as musical as possible and don't loose the melody amidst aimless shredding. This solo was rad.
He’s not just playing to be flashy it’s coming straight from the heart which makes him so great. I’ve watched this video at least a dozen times and will be coming back for more! Absolutely love his playing!
I've watched this at least 50 times and it is amazing everytime. What i like the most about Richie's playing is he isn't trying to outplay the backing track. Every lick he does fits the song so well, yet shows off all his technique. Truly an amazing player
🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🇮🇩
Love how he transitions from the pentatonic to the diatonic scales but still voices the bends so smoothly very nice 👍
A very solid player who can shred without sacrificing taste and melody. A truly rare combination indeed. I'd love to see him put out a solo album someday.
I'd love to see him use his pinky someday.
@@DavianSinner I'm sorry, but who are you?
Someone who uses his pinky. Big fan of them.
r2blank2 When you mostly play two note per string pentatonics you don’t really need your pinky
True.
Not only is Richie an awesome player, he seems to always have excellent tone in all his videos!
His tone is quite proper, I like it's simplicity. Some people play through stacks and stacks of effect with I find unnecessary. I also thought he's using passive pickups and had to look it up, those are active ones. Most of the time, I find the active ones to sound worse than the passive ones - less dynamics and clarity with active ones due to some sort of compression or what...
dante4d oh be quiet, u sound your plagiarizing off a Dimazrios website. U have no clue. Sit down.
Thanks for saying that
I think it's the Dave Murray-influence ;)
The man is selling these pickups like crazy!
Judas priest has always been my favorite band and over the years I learned to really appreciate K.K.'s " from the gut" soloing style. Needless to say I was completely bummed out when he left the band. Until I saw Richie Faulkner live in Corpus Christi. He is absolutely amazing and a great addition to my all time favorite band.
This dude is tasty!! Incorporates all of his influences and executes them all!! Just watch The pickup changes thru out the soloing. Brilliantly Done!! This guy is a chameleon of greatness!!!!!
I love the freedom of his playing just going where he wants and rockin’ out.
I love how MELODIC his playing is !!!! He shure does KK and Glenn justice !
Yess!! Richie is bringing back the 80's guitar sounds into the modern age!
Fucking insane solo!
I love the way he keeps everything grouped real super close and tight and he dont do a ton of repeats neither,FANTASTIC!!
I said the same thing.i think hes my fav metal guy now.
I've been watching Richie play for years and he is like a fine wine: He gets better as he ages. Rock on Richie!!!
I keep coming back to this. What an amazing solo.
His style is absolute perfection for Judas Priest.
Amazing guitar player...he mixes styles epically, you can clearly hear those stated influences in this..wow!
Back again.
Absolutely fucking love this!!
This is just gold, what I like is the feel, the accented timing. One of the best rock solo's I've ever heard.
I'm blown away every single time I watch this!
I'm no guitar player, but I know a badass musician when I hear one, and this man is straight up wicked awesome! The perfect addition to Judas Priest.
***** I agree,,, I just saw Priest for the 7th time this past Wednesday (July 15) in Detroit. It was my first time with Richie though and he did not disappoint! Great concert and some great guitar playing.
Anthony Kailing Yes, he's just incredible! The passion and fire he brings to the show is jaw dropping. I saw 4 dates on the Redeemer of Souls tour, and he tore it up!
***** FOUR TIMES!!! A bigger Priest fan than I?! Hard to imagine. That or logistics,,, it was a three hour drive for me to Detroit. Rock On!
***** He is bad ass. No question. Not adequate for Priest unless he plays better live and in studio though. I'm a vocalist, drummer of 30 years and he's off in plenty of places. Trust me. Listen to this solo with a click track and you'll better see what I mean. He's a great player for sure, but NOT the best choice for Priest IMO.
If you think Faulkner is a ten musically, listen to someone like Reb Beach, or Doug Aldrich (DIO's "Killing the Dragon"), or even the new guitarist for Dokken.
I must disagree with you, as I've seen 4 shows on the current Priest tour, and he tears it up live. Redeemer of Souls is also a masterpiece. Doug Aldrich is another favorite of mine, I"ve seen him with Dio and Whitesnake countless times. He's killer, one of the best! So is Reb Beach. But Richie IS absolutely the best choice for Judas Priest, he fit in with them right from the start and is credited (by them) for keeping the band alive. His energetic, mesmerizing performances have turned doubters into believers. No one is better for them than him. And bottom line is, THEY wanted him!
love his attitude... just fukkin play and see what happens. Thats the essence right there
pbm is that nothing much happens. gets boring after a little while. very generic
Takhralifih That's what I thought at first man, but I think he was warming up, because he starts rippin towards the end of the video. ;) I thought it was good ;)
Yep that's how I do it too!
Mikey B Moisture is the essence of wetness, and wetness is the essence of beauty.
grayboo212 He's a mer-MAN.
That was the WOW factor! F*****g great.
Beyond shredding...this is shredding with feel and melody and a great nod to his heroes
"Schenker comes out, sometimes zakk comes out"
what a legend!
If you didn't know the man who probably expresses his ideas and feelings a thousand times better with his guitar than with his words: here he is! Here, he is fantastic ! 💖💖💖
Wow...love this guy! That's one mean solo. Excellent playing.
and, it is all improv...
Huy Tran Listen to Doug Aldrich with Dio on "Killing the Dragon" if you think Faulkner is good. THAT is precision guided metal that cuts you to the bone.
WOW, that is some nice playing! Haven't really followed Judas Priest since KK Downing retired, but this guys improvisional skills are incredible! As soon as he said he was a big Michael Schenker fan, he got my interest, and he didn't disappoint. Well done sir!
I keep coming back to this....total inspiration.
Best wishes and prayers to him! Get well soon!!!
incredible SOLO
35 dislikes o.O
95 dislikes ?
i could listen to this all day for 3 years and still love it xD
+XBL: lmao u dead ,.Xactly
Great Jam
Dude this guys is AMAZING!! Seen him live.. He has lots of stage presence and he style looks similar to Doug Aldrich, Satchel and Zakk Wylde... He is very rock and roll!! Loved him
Michael Schenker legacy indeed...This man is the 70´s and 80´s rock guitar heroes evolution. Killer player!! playing that kind of rock guitar, one of the best in the world nowdays. Listening him is exciting and intense!!
One of the most underated guitarist ever, love his style
Best guitar solo I've ever heard
Faulkner is a really tasty guitarist. He really adds, he's from that oldschool.
arjan snijder Yea I think he tastes good but it's better when you add some mayo and chopped onions
dont forget the maters
Beautifully said. This guy has an attack on his strings...fn awesome. Clean as fuck.
Absolutely. Love his style.
@@xaviermurphy9797 XD.
1:52 foot on, 1:53 foot off. Man that was fast.
+Edgars Rutkis Ahaha caught him lovely there.
Good catch. I guess they edited that part. You can somewhat catch the transition in the audio as well.
hahahahahashahjjhdajhhjh really°!!!!
Ha ha, good catch.
Good catch! LOL
Richie's pauses during pull downs are stellar, he doesn't rush the pull down, let's it un-fold un-scripted. Very relaxed guitarist, live within priest rising, playing v" stellar lead break, Floyd brought to fullest capability, also really streachers notes like no tomorrow.
Saw him play last Friday....BEAST on the guitar...the entire bands performance left me in tears on the ride home.
I could listen to him doing this all day every day
Well, that title wasn't clickbait at all. Incredible guitar solo.
🔴➡️ Honestly, Richie is absolutely fantastic and Judas Priest has made such an exceptional recruitment .... For sure he deserves to join the best hard rock band ever. Thanks so much to Judas Priest that helped make my life better and feel alive 💖💖💖
Richie is absolutely fantastic... We can feel so incredibly each emotion that's inside him when he is playing... I don't remember I have felt such a thing... It is a very high level musician 💖💖💖
His pick hand Is on another level.
Can't stop listening to this guy!
Nice to see someone shreddin' on a Les Paul, I feel like they're underrated as hell when it comes to metal
They are nowadays and that's a shame. My LP Custom is a monster for metal, huge tone
Randy Rhoads and Zakk Wylde :-)
@@deadlift65
Dont forget Vivian Campbell, John Sykes, Doug Aldrich and even George Lynch play them. So I'd say they are well represented.
@@mryhdy6266 Well said. We could add Gary Moore. He was more of a blues guitarist, but had a good metal period, too (the "Corridors of Power" era).
To me his soloing sounds more like hard rock than metal. It's just so close to blues that it's hard to think of it as metal, and the tone gives it a GNR/Motley Crue vibe
Who is here in 2024 for the reminiscences in Gates of Hell's solo of new Judas Priest's album? ✋
I am a LONG time, diehard KK fan. First time I saw Richie play, I knew Rob and the fellas found the right guy to step in and fill those enormous shoes of a legend. Richie, you have a style and sound all your own.
he deserves it ,,,,,,, fits perfect in priest the playing , style , the looks
I can't stop listen to this.
Just right - tasteful - not overplayed - great to see some new Uk talent - Rock hard (ride free)!!!
This is an example of shredding with heart
I first heard Richie on a VH1 live broadcast of a Priest gig about 3 years ago. Blew me away. Love the Schenker and Murray ref's. Two of my faves as well (or was when i played more).
Phenomenal player !! His tone is just flawless !!
Richie Faulkner you are awosome!
Loving that tone! It’s what I’d strive for as a player! Wow.
GREAT STUFF I'VE SEEN HIM WITH PRIEST AND HE ROCKS THEY PICKED AN EXCELLENT REPLACEMENT FOR KK ,NUFF SAID!
larry bryant They could have done better.
+TruthUnderFire Well it's clear that you don't know much about JP. You just made one of the dumbest comments I've ever seen.
Ha ha ha ha ha.
I don't know how many times I've come back to watch this video over the years, but it's A LOT.
Ritchie Faulkner is a badass. I love this style of playing. rock
this guy has something to say ..... excellent guitarist
His tribute to other guitarists is admirable. Richie is another Grand Master guitarist. He sounds very 'new age' too and could easily slot in with Satriani, Vai, Petrucci, Jess Loomis, Zak Wylde, Michael Schenker, Dave Gilmour and the like ! and the like
Agreed, he brings a lot of "old skool" licks in his playing, fast and melodic with some seriously tasty licks thrown in-definitely hearing 80's and 90's guitar players influences and very good use of minor pentatonic scales as well.
And then he crashes.
Awesome jamming and soloing...so many styles going on in there
This has got to be the most underrated guitar player of all time.
He's a real player. Not just overrehearsed stuff. True improvisational skill, strenght, taste, touch. You can see he put a lot work in it! Flawless improv rooted in blues, rock, shred.
He's Slash level for good taste and feel but more precise.
I love how people have welcomed Ritchie with open arms unlike Ripper who some still have a thing against to this very day.
wow your right!!,
I feel like Rob really set the signature sound
GrayWoIf just somehow fits, everything fits
Eh, a new frontman is always gonna have a tougher time, than a guitarist coming into a two guitar band. Now if someone had to fill dimebags place in Pantera, they’d definitely receive the same criticism and lack of acceptance a new frontman gets.
Who agrees that he’s totally channeling Dave Murray from 2:07-2:50? So clean! 🤘🏼
He's got my admiration as guitar player for sure. Same level as Doug Aldridge, Jake E Lee... and some others.
There's just something about his soloing that feels very right. This is really good. Talented guy.
This dude is one of the best hands down. Holy fuck what a shred
This guy reeks of COOL
I like Richie, he's a great guitarist, fits in Priest perfectly!
Had to watch this again..only been three days and I been thinking about it a whole bunch...FUCK YEAH RICHIE!!!!
Absolutely SOLID guitar player.
I could listen for days!
I think Ritchie is a natrual talent. I don't hear too many guys his age play like he does
More of this on Judas Priest's next album please!
man he still looks great...i used to listen to these guys in high school...hes def upped his craft too
I love this man and his guitars...
This guys amazing..I do hear Slash all up and down his solo..but love it!
Richie is without a doubt a Metal Badass......\m/ \m/
His guitar will need a cigarette after that solo
I need a cigarette after that.
The unscripted solos are always my favorite. I’ve played covers in a band for 40 years and unless a song has a solo you just can’t change, I love the songs that I can just go unscripted.
Randy and Vivian come out alot in my solos. I sound alit like both of them at my best! Couldn't believe how great I sounded on playback after looping my favorite rythum and soloing over it. So much fun. Love ya Falcon.
Well... I've got some practising to do... Great guitarplayer.
Makes me wanna make a hen's nest outta my SG😐
That man is really good. He has that rock n' roll enthusiasm in his playing. Got to check out more of his work.
Belongs in a hair band.
Ritchie smokes!! To my humble taste, the Retroactive Fat 55 set sounds even better in the master's hands. The way he burn through those licks is amazing.
The skills of metal musicians was and will always be unmatched
Flawless Note Efficiency & Utilization.
Best Modern Day Solo/Guitarist!
Richys Style is Unparalell and unmatched by anyone in his genre! Facts!
If you like Richie you love it, if you like Zakk...you love it :D
Faulkner is incredible on guitar...(Richie Faulkner plays cover).
He is just amazing!!
