Thanks for watching! Let me know in the comments if you try these exercises? Which is your favorite - for me it's definitely contour line drawing. But I did love doing the mass drawing too, so I might come back to that again. ❤
Thank you for this video I’ve just started back doing a portrait and life drawing class and decided to try what you did in the video the continuous line one for life drawing and they came out so good I was really pleased 💖 the model even wanted to take a photo of my first one x
Thank you so much! That's amazing to hear - I do this in every life drawing session for at least one of the shorter poses. I'm so glad you tried it out. You can experiment with the line quality - light and heavier, making emphasis etc.
This video is excellent! The first exercise was especially helpful for me. It felt like what i was trying to do with with my pencil started clicking a lot more often (i don't have a ballpoint pen yet but i did not remove my pencil from the page!) Ive tried figure drawing before and i felt really lost but this method felt very productive for me and i cant wait to try all of these more regularly!
Wow, this is an amazing comment, thank you so much for this feedback! I'm really excited to hear that the first exercise clicked with you - this is definitely an exercise that you can come back to and work with over and over. It really is a foundation for connecting your eye and hand - something crucial for aspiring artists! Keep me posted! 😊❤
5:42 Say, I’ve got one simpler question: Could and would this be possible with ultra-long pointed woodless graphite, graphite pencil, art stick, woodless colored pencil, woodless charcoal, chalk, or hard or soft pastel? Please answer the question to me, and thanks.
These are really nice and powerful drawings. Bravo! Are they timed ? Compared to Nicolaides mass drawing technique where he starts from the center outwards in what it seems circular movements, how does it compare to what you suggest ? Thanks you
I didn't time them, we should definitely time the continuous line drawing - no longer than 3 minutes is best I think. As for mass drawing - yes I didn't move from the inside out, but it's the same approach, working to round the forms to describe the volume and mass, but again that's a great approach as well. Great comment, thank you so much !! I really appreciate your support on this channel
@@Drawing-Life Thanks for the response. It seems your approach slightly better as one seems to be able to perceive width and height in a much easier way. I will try that way next time I get a bit of time to practice. Regarding the stock images, I'm looking for another website like line of action. Do you know others ? I tried Croquis café but it isn't free anymore. Thanks

Amazingly done video.
Very nice as always!
Thank you so much Noah! ❤

My recommendation to sketch in ballpoint is bold 1,6 pen. and you're right about fineliners, they cant be so delicate in final look like ballpens.
Muy buenos dibujos, todos.

Yeah, you would just need to make sure you stick to building up tones, not lines
