@@pitsnipe5559 As a kid in the 1950s, my mom folded EVERYTHING 'just so' that did not get hung up in the closet AFTER IRONING most with liquid not spray starch, and when I asked her WHY [she was exacting about almost everything, except some of her recipe measuring, which was a 'couple of glugs' of oil in a scratch cake], she answered that "everything fit better on the cabinet shelf or in dresser drawer when they were folded to fit there; and she never minded ironing everything, even in hot TX, Louisiana and Illinois summers without ANY AC ever. I was taught to iron at age 5 -- my idea as the only child/daughter, simple things like cotton handkerchiefs of my dad's and pillow cases -- with a child size iron that plugged in and warmed up but not HOT like mom's iron. I did not mind any chore except dusting because of dust allergies, but loved vacuuming, laundry, dishwashing by hand [we never had an elec d/w].

@@pitsnipe5559 my dad was age 17 to 21 as he enlisted right after Pearl Harbor and served 4 years in the US Navy all of WWII. As 1 or 7 growing up in the 1920s and the Great Depression, he learned EVERY household chore and more, and just did them WITHOUT WHINING because they just needed done. His sisters were assigned specific and constant non-rotating chores and they grew to hate them as adults. Dad did at least some of all home maint. beyond the heaviest lifting, but left much to my mom because she was so capable. Mom did 99% of the indoor house chores but dad was capable and pitched in periodically, after doing constant maint. and repairs wherever we lived, even apts. Truthfully he was the better cook the few times he did so. Dad was taught even more tasks while in the Navy such as military folding, sewing/mending of clothes, sails, etc. He taught me at age 9 how to fold/roll everything so it would not NEED ironing when stowed into a duffle bag, yes even a Navy uniform.

His neatness hasn't transfer to our home. If anyone says something everyone else says he needs his rest including my husband. My other children are using a hair straightening to iron some wrinkles out of clothing. They won't use the iron because, they are scared of getting burn.

I'm totally into organizing, but definitly a ladybug. I love everything being in it's place and still easy to put away. Micro organizing just takes me to much time, so it won't get done. I would love to see more ladybug youtubers. So team Dawn for me, in it's place is in it's place, folding is just an unnecessary step to me 🙂

Good point! I came up as a cricket. I don't know what my partner is (I'd guess butterfly). He likes more things left out than I do and also likes to put things away by tucking them into random drawers and cupboards -- which I hate! How do you find anything later or know what your have? He hates my piles of things left out to organise. Luckily we both don't like a lot of things so it's not too hard to organise what we have.

Team Dawn. Being the one who does the laundry for the whole household I’m totally Team Dawn. It’s never ending and totally draining to literally fold everything for everyone. I put mine and my daughters in baskets and bins and for my spouse I let them know it’s done and they can leave in bin or fold as they want it done. Caz I’m done stressing and draining myself. If I have something and need to wear and it’s wrinkled just throw in dryer to fluff while I’m getting ready and then I’m done. It literally makes me feel better about having to always do the laundry for everyone. Peace of mind!

My laundry is done the same way!! I deal with mine and the girls clothes (mostly bins or divided drawers) and hubby's go in a laundry basket for him to put away for himself. I gave up on his clothes when he asked me to start folding his underwear. I think I about had a stroke and I told him he was responsible for his own clothes from then on. He has only put them away in drawers 3 or 4 times in the many years since then!!

Yes! It's all part of doing the laundry. I hang clothes and fold undies. I don't have a flat surface in our bedroom, but I can easily hold them up to fold them. Yes, we have a bed, but we also have cats and they get on our bed. I don't want cat hair on my clean laundry. I put the laundry away right from the basket. NEVER onto the floor. Not even when they're dirty. They go right into baskets we use as hampers. One for towels, one for my clothes, one for my husbands.
