R.I.P. Craig MacGregor who passed away yesterday from a long battle with cancer. Dave passed 18 years ago and Rod about 10 years ago. I knew all these guys personally and I can tell you they were the nicest most professional musicians I have ever met. They should have been as big or bigger than any of the monster bands from the 70's and 80's. These are 4 of the greatest musicians to ever play. See you guys on the other side.
One of my favorites. I knew them (not personally) when they were Savoy Brown. Lonesome Dave was awesome and I can't walk down my basement stairs without thinking about Rod.

Foghat is doing a concert with Blue Oyster Cult in Sunbury, Pa. at the grounds of the Spyglass Winery on July 9, 2011... Can't wait for that one... 15 miles from my home.. Kansas was there for July 2010 and they rocked. Thanks for uploading....

Awesome Live Band......had the pleasure of seeing them 3 times 73, 74 & 75. Still one of the best bands of that era (in my opinion) & THAT covers ALOT of GREAT BANDS! 1978, I was 14, enjoying fine herb with a Foghat 8-Track playing this song, in a boat named "Slo-Ride" on Lake Texhoma. We went skiing while the folks went fishing. Then we had a giant fish fry with freshly caught striper and the most wonderful cornmeal batter...a big vat of oil on a tripod in front of the lakehouse with 20+ people as the sun slowly set. Much like April Wine, our “in house” rock band up here in Montreal, a fantastic 5 man group, born and bred Canadian band. Just never made it huge , but a solid Gold and Platinum album group. Had ALL their albums, music of my lifetime.
I agree without a doubt better than any band today. The song meaning is about intercourse, reason starts off slow then speeds up add the song is based on the length man can last inside a woman.
hitchhiked 2 hours to see them for my 1st concert in 1979 when i was 15... pat travers opened for them... awesome concert... lol... took me like 5 hours of trying to hitchhike to get home though
I saw Lonesome Dave with a Christian band in about 1983. A few years after that, my band opened for Foghar in Dallas for a great show. Dave was still alive then and this singer was still with them. Keep rocking, Foghat. Thanks for the memories.
@PooPooOnMyNewShoe I remember concerts were a big deal in Indy back then. For us kids down by Bargersville, it was a dream come true to see those great bands. Also, saw Barry Manilow and John Denver during that time period. After that I went to Colorado for a visit and just stayed. Saw lots more great bands at McNichols Arena in Denver, including Cinderella when they went out with BonJovi in '87. Nice to meet you.
@PooPooOnMyNewShoe Actually I saw them when they opened the new Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis. There was a huge room. they had 2 stages set up at opposite ends. First Foghat came on, then on the other stage Charlie Daniels played. Fantastic night!!!

Attended a concert at the Greenville memorial auditorium with the Little River Band opening for Foghat. 1978. Only a hundred or so showed up. I was to close for the feedback for sure. My ears still ring. I chucked a handful of 714's, a couple of concert sized legs of Colombian gold to both bands . The band wanted to know where everyone was . Then said tell them what they missed and played until midnight almost! The masters of feedback!
Rod Price. Genius. This band knows Rock N Roll. He is just playing slide guitar to get that full rich sound. I seen them play a few times but it was way after lead singer Lonesome Dave had passed away. But they still knew how to give such a great live concert afterwards. Sad that Rod Price passed away but his playing guitar will live on.
+pedraw I remember that concert! Lived in Ludington, Mi. during that time! Triumph kicked some ass at that concert also. But damn, Foghat was a great concert. Would see them a few more times before 1980.
Out of all the Rock deaths during the last 20yrs, I found Lonesome Dave's the hardest for me to accept. That guy wore his SNEAKERS until the end! And THEN Rod Price! Two of my HEROES gone! But thanks for the concert memories of the '70s!!!
I just bought the first 13 albums on CD. $46 on Amazon. Oh, those memories are flooding back. I reconnected with an old acquaintance of mine from 1972-78 who used to listen to Foghat with me. Who says Rock 'n Roll is a bad thing?
heard this a decade or so after most of you guys in one of those "hits of the 70s" blue-screen tv ads. Then "Dazed and Confused" came out. I think I got a fuzz pedal the next day lol
Some mutual head banging at 8:00! Sure wish the lighting would have been better to get light onto their faces and fingers during big session that starts at 5:57...the build up when you would be listening in the car to the 8 track could only be imagined, we didn't have MTV back then to see concert footage or even free video's being shown on T.V. If a group wasn't on "Midnight Concert" (?, can't remember the name of that show that had a lot of big groups play I think on late Saturday night), you didn't know what a group looked like other that on the cardboard casing around the 33 album you bought for $10.00. I had to come back here to U-Tube, "Dazed and Confused" was showing on public t.v., had to get the whole song...loud!!!

Probably because of the advertisement in the middle of the song
But it sure in the hell didn't know what good music was was

Susan Haskins ....I'll bet you do too :-))
I saw these guys in Lansing Michigan. I can't remember if they opened for Triumph or if Triumph opened for Foghat...........I was too fucked up!

Triumph opened for Foghat - just need your fog-glasses
Thanks Johnny B. It was like somewhere between 82-84.Johnny B
+pedraw I remember that concert! Lived in Ludington, Mi. during that time! Triumph kicked some ass at that concert also. But damn, Foghat was a great concert. Would see them a few more times before 1980.

Haha....Ludington, good times indeed. My Aunt and Uncle lived there for a few years in the 80's and 90's.
+pedraw Indeed! I lived there from 1968 to 1981. A damn fine place to be as a teen during the summer months. So many vacationing young ladies.
Saw them at the Allentown PA fairgrounds with Rainbow in '78.
Should I play Allentown by bully Joel?
Man, wish I'd seen that. I was at M-berg then.
Out of all the Rock deaths during the last 20yrs, I found Lonesome Dave's the hardest for me to accept. That guy wore his SNEAKERS until the end! And THEN Rod Price! Two of my HEROES gone! But thanks for the concert memories of the '70s!!!
this is by far the best version of this song live period
Damn, those boys rocked IT. Saw them in Chicago, November of 1975 with Montrose and Black Oak Arkansas. Still sounds great.
Saw these guys open up for ACDC, what a show! That was the black in black tour, I think it was in 81.
