Most people with these "grow your hair long" videos already have had long hair their entire lives. Hair constantly grows if taken care of, but how fast and how long it grows is usually hereditary.
Ive been doing these twists on my hair for the past 9 months and my hair grew 3.5 inches since. Im still in shock. I have never been able to grow hair past my shoulders until I've done this kind of protective styling as my regimen. So easy and its like your hair is always done. xx
Faith Pelerin Wow. That’s great to hear. I may try it too. I usually band but the other night I tried to twist my hair and I liked it. I’m not sure if I will switch my stretching style but if I do it will be twists.
Patrice D'Evans that’s awesome! I’ve tried banding before, I just prefer the twists as a style to wear out more. But there are many ways to protective style your own hair so it’s good to try out many things and see what works xx
I've noticed that it's easier to retain length on hair that has a looser curl pattern...it doesn't tangle on itself and break as much as hair with a tighter curl pattern...just my opinion.
wisediamond830 yes so tru my tightly coiled hair like U said literally tangles on itself, so having healthy ends for me is even more important or just as important as keepin it moisturized
My hair is her exact texture and it’s broken off many times. It depends on how if you moisturize the hair based on your hair porosity. Moisturized hair won’t break off more than usual and will retain length.
My friends have loser curl hair and my hair( courser) has surpassed their length And they get complacent and think cuz their hair is like 3a-3c they don’t have to care for their hair much! Umm nope i just moisturize and leave alone. Lol my friend ( lose curl) asked me why I don’t get my hair done ( straightening ) and buy all these products and oils. I looked at her hair and said hmm that’s why. Her 3a-3c hair is brittle and damaged. My hair also grows faster than there’s but that’s genetics

I do this to my daughter's hair (11yrs old) on a regular basis and she loves it. I also do braid styles that are to her scalp. Everyone asks what I do to her hair? I tell then but no one really wants to put the work in. She has 4b and 4cish hair. Her hair is healthy and healthy, moisturized hair behaves differently so not many people want to believe she's truly 4c. At the end of the day it doesn't matter. What matters is the routine. I took care of my mother in law's hair the month that she was sick. She called me at home after taking her hair down raving about how her hair looked and felt. It's not just genetics! Don't believe that lie! I'm living proof! Be patient. I get phone calls from friends and family wanting me to mix the oils I put on my daughter's hair for them. I tell them all the same thing. What works for her may not work for you. It took me three years to find my system and it's changing as she matures and her hair is changing too. @@felicitymanford8253 There's not an easy answer for this. We are all unique individuals and our hair is as well. All 4c hair is not equal and not having any more to go on, I'll say this. There are a couple of factors to consider. What is her hair's porosity, thickness, length and condition just to name a few. I looked at Ytubers and tried all the stuff they talked about, spent lots of money and stayed frustrated. I had permed her hair, it became damaged and had broken off because I no longer had to time it took to care for it. I had ruined my baby's beautiful hair because her edges wouldn't behave 🤦🏾♀️. It all changed when I prayed about it. It only made sense to ask the one that created it. I listened to God which he in turn told me to listen to her hair. Use what her hair responds well to. I use Aloe Vera, glycerin, castor oils, jojoba oil, coconut oil, vit E, black seed oil, essential oils like rosemary, peppermint, lemongrass, etc. I make my own mixtures according to what her hair needs. I research EVERYTHING and am pretty comfortable with it before I use it. Start with drinking lots of water, keeping her hair clean, especially her scalp. I use gentle shampoos as much as possible, I use a clarifying shampoo as needed. When her hair and scalp is "clean" but doesn't shine, it's time to clarify. I use conditioners that have a good slip (slimy) or I just mix one of my concoctions in it 😜. I also use what's in the kitchen like ripe bananas, avocados, eggs, rice water, but again I only use what her hair is needing at that time. You asked what I use and my routine. My routine is washing once to twice a month because we're mostly in protective styles and moisture. These days I don't buy over the counter moisturizers like I use to. I mix my own with aloe vera as my base. Ms. Felicity I know I've been kind of vague especially not naming any brands. That's because I want you to find YOUR own way and enjoy the journey. I've twists in my hair for about 2 weeks and it's grown 2 inches. (I had a twa 4 years ago and now my hair is shoulder length) I do a aphogee protein treatment 1-2 per year. Corona sent me back to my twist days. I wore my hair in twists for 2 years straight and sprayed moisture every single day. My hair was so soft, twists were juicy and I would wear my twists often in an updo. That was my best growth period. I am going to use your tip for my ends with the gel, never thought of that.
This is true! I did this all while natural! Grew me to waist length twice! I have a vid on it. Also been a subscriber to you for years and you’re one of the people that encouraged me to go natural! Thank you for uploading 💖
Caught that jamaican accent real quick 😂 U can literally wear ur braids out. They’re sooo nice 😍😍 and yes i can attest to twists/braids growing out hair. Since i went natural in 2018 my hair has grown sooo much.
Her accent is not Jamaican. We don’t sound like that. I’m Jamaican so I would know. She is an island girl tho just not sure what island she is from but definitely not Jamaican.
I prefer twist over braids if it's just my natural hair no added hair. I look halfway bald headed with braids. Lol n I wear my twists as a everyday style. Never been a fan of doing my hair just to take it down in a couple of days. Now I been able to go like 2 or 3 weeks with just refreshing my twist. My roots get crazy like yours after a week but I sleep with like a silk do rag type scarf. Lay them bad boys down.
I keep my twists in for at least a week and change up the style. Honestly I live around a lot of East African women and they’re forever wearing braids and twists. I just follow their flow
U should try mini braids and twist the ends Recently I start doing mini braids on my natural hair n that's been my protective hair style it last two or three weeks
Patrice D'Evans I just started mini twist, let it in for 1 month, washed my hair twice while I had it on.. My hair really grew lol. I had bought hair for braids but I’m about to do another mini twist. I started with 3 strand braids then continued with twists!
Locke n key is littt.. And I agree we don’t wear twists or braids anymore on our natural hair. I know I don’t because my hair is short I hate the awkward stage
I started wearing twist last year and I wear them when I'm out working out in the morning so I'll let my twist get I do wear wigs to work one just because it's easier at 2 because it protects my natural hair but once I have like about 24in of Farrah right now I have 10 inches once I have 24in I think I will wear my twist a lot more even to work cuz I think they're beautiful and it's my natural hair and I love my natural hair it took me decades to love it but at this point I adore it and I'm grateful to God that He gave it to me nothing wrong with it at all if there was he would have not given it to me
I would definitely wear my hair in twists or braids more often if i didn't have such low density and fine hair, yours is so full and chunky and fluffy , mine not so much 😭
@@bronzefox9035 please let me know if you find one cuz I have searched and don't see many I always have to blow dry my hair to get somewhat of some volume 😭
I have low porosity hair as well and use to experience this problem. Now I use my homemade aloe juice with my grease, and twist; keeps my hair moisturized for a week.
Like seriously. I have fine medium density hair. I have never had that volume I just believe my hair just never had that many strands coming out of my head. My hair is probably 1/3 of how thick her hair is 😫🤷🏾♀️. But working it out the best I can. Experimenting with different clipins so I can have a semi protective style
My current hair style at the moment and one of my favorites ever. It feels unnatural to even think about undoing them as I'm loving it so much. I wash my hair once a week and moisturize in between. My twists are super juicy and my edged are filling out more
So true! People love twists and braids with extensions but talk mess about them when they’re all natural 🤷🏾♀️ they look better with natural, healthy hair IMO. ❤️❤️❤️
I have been wearing rope twists, mini braids, and loose twists as my protective styles and length retention. I still wash and DC but I'm careful not to rough up my hair. I air dry with them stretched ( braided, wrapped and pinned etc). I realised that I was retaining more length without adding extensions. Also, moisturise my ends daily or every other day. I have fell in love with dusting and trimming. This was not the case for a few years bit now I can see a major difference with trimming and dusting! Your hair is gorgeous and I'm hoping to get to armpit length in the next few months.
I would wear twists as a style if my hair was fuller. My hair is very fine and med density so...yeah, I look sad in twists with only my natural hair. 😔
I love wearing my natural twist & braids, great protective style & definitely has been growing my hair. I actually like when it gets into that dread locks look lol I can wear this style for about 3weeks with me redoing a few of them. I’ve recently added raw whipped shea butter to my oil mixtures & my hair is loving every bit of it. & Yes it’s a must that I get creative with the different looks with this hairstyle lol. I usually do two hand twist on my hair to the scalp instead of individual twist & my twist outs usually come out pretty nicely. Oh Yeah! Thank you for sharing your beautiful hair journey.💚🌻👸🏾🦚💜
I absolutely LOVE when your twist look ‘fizzy’ at the roots...... I don’t like calling it that, I call it “lived”...... It’s a look that can’t be duplicated b/c it’s natural.... I like adding accessories to mine, like a color string and a sea sell 🔥👌🏽
You're right! No one wears their natural hair as much.I think I'll start wearing twists to help promote fast growth. Thanks for the tips Bun in the building...BUN BUN🤣
I have braids in my hair (with my real hair) currently. I am a music major and don't have time. I do my hair once a week or once every 2 weeks (like wash, deep condition and style). I have performances this Friday so I am going to probably wear a braid out and wash my hair and style and leave it again. I just keep it simple 😭. Boring I know but, simple. Plus on top of lifting weights and living on the coast, my hair just be looking like hot trash sometimes buuuut...I don't mind.
This is what I do also, I wear my hair in twist all the time. I have young kids and I just don’t have the time to do my hair everyday. People say I look like a little kid but that’s fine with me my hubby likes it and that’s the only person I need to like it
The twist out looks good on you. I start with twist to Bantu knots- wear them for like a week. Then take them down, rock the curly twist until they done, then take them down and where loose for another few days. Beautiful hair
My 10 year old daughter has hair like yours and we don’t do heat and only do plaits like the ones you’re taking down and twists. Her hair gets frizzy fast but I leave it alone. Right now she has plaits that I braided it down into 2 braids. Simple and cute and left alone works
I have my post-wash twists in now. They are really there to stretch my hair, because I don't know what long-term protective style to wear. I may just redo the twists but smaller, so that I can wear them in a ponytail.
I have been rocking my medium length hair in twists and it is growing more and is healthier. I’m trying to focus more on the health of my hair than a style. It’s boring to not switch it up sometimes, but more manipulation increases the possibility of damaging it. I wore a twist out for a few days but it ended up dry and tangled. Thanks for this video! Your hair is gorgeous.
I was on the fence about doing mini twists until I watched this video. Did it the next day, for the first time ever. Our hair is so special and amazing and was made for braids and twists. I plan to try your method with braids first to dry and stretch, then do the twists. Did it after fresh wash and the shrinkage was so disrespectful 😄 but so glad I did it. Thanks for the inspiration! Keep up the great videos! 💜
Twist are my go to style gal! My roots don't get as frizzy as yours and I redo them every 2 weeks. Def has contributed to my hair growth. Love your energy!
You and your hair are sooooo beautiful 😻😻😻 I went natural 6 months ago and big chopped 😫 I Roc my twist outs at work lol idc it’s work ... no one to impress. Now my hair is sitting on my neck and it takes longer to style lol I said that to say this.. We (BW) are the hype. Roc whatever you want to Roc 🤷🏾♀️😏 just keep shining 🥰💗
Same Algui dont do it then or just do it when you arent leaving the house like now. It dosent matter how it looks if we all have to be at home anyways unless you have to go to work
CurlyDoll Tv 📺 I was sharing this same thing on my channel. I normally wouldn’t wear certain protective styles but maybe during this quarantine time I may wear it or at least wear my preferred stretch style longer.
I’ve been wearing loose twist for about 1 year now, and occasionally a twist out. My hair is growing like a weed. I’ve tried braiding my natural hair, but they are so hard & time consuming to undo. I’m lazy, so HANDS DOWN FOR LOOSE TWIST!!!!
Hi there...I wear twists for 2 weeks then shampoo...etc n twist again. If I go out, I make sure to do the twist out on the 3rd week then shampoo...etc the day after the outting. Awesome video!!!
I think I’m gonna start doing more twist outs! Braid outs are still a no cuz my thick low porosity hair takes ENTIRELY TOO LONG to dry completely and I won’t tryna be walking around looking like Celie from The Color Purple 🤣😂😆
I'm so happy I found you . omg me being a naturalist for sooo long and going through a bunch of different hair videos I've been struggling to find someone with my and now my child's hair texture for updated care and styles . so let's just say I'm very very excited and happy that I found your video today. Thank you for sharing . I'm now a subscriber and yes your hair is goegesss as well as you my beautiful melenated sister.
I've been wearing my hair in twists for about 2 years now Maybe more. I have a lot of growth and length retention. I wear mine medium to large and wash and deep condition and retwist at the end of every week. I usually put it in a bun and leave it like that for the first 2-3 days (to let it dry because i do my hair when it's damp) and then wear it down. The bun stretches it a little for me and since I work out 2-3 times a week I use gel over my twisting cream which help me combat frizz. Love the video!
I’m a very educated natural and when i hear well informed natural RUclipsrs like yourself preach and put your subscribers on effective techniques I can’t help but subscribe! If you don’t mind, for your next video can you please zoom us into and slow mo the process of you braiding ur hair from the root and then twisting it.
U cant until ur hair is able to go into a one. I did a wash and go with my twa. After a year when it was able to go into a one I did twist, now its growing like crazy! I low key look like I have dreds all the time but this method retains moisture and grows my hair.
Yasss thank you !! & Lock & Key had me stuck but I’ve been rocking my twist outs but since I cut my hair to neck length I’ve been struggling to get it back to back length 🤦🏽♀️ I know I made a big mistake but we getting there thanks to you🙌🏾
Hi, this is my first time seeing your channel and watching your video. I've been doing twists for a little over a year now, switching it up with different hairstyles in between of course, and I absolutely love it! It's so easy, prevents me from having to do my hair every day, and looks cute in the twists and then doing the twist out on the 4th or 5th day. The best part is that my hair is growing!! its no longer stuck at the shoulder blades and is almost mid back length. I finally have a hair routine that works and is showing some results. Btw I love your hair
I've been natural for 6 years now, she knows fair had definitely foursided since twists are my ultimate style. I never do wash and go's, or any style with my hair blowing around. Every strand is always protected in twists. Also you save so much product because the moisture life of your products extend in protective styles so you don't have to refresh daily
Who ever said braids and twists don't look good they're dead wrong.
say that again when the braids and twists are 3 inches long pls 😬
They look good when you have length, when your hair is short they look dumb like mine lol in my opinion
Not when u have short hair 😪

I prefer twist over braids if it's just my natural hair no added hair. I look halfway bald headed with braids. Lol n I wear my twists as a everyday style. Never been a fan of doing my hair just to take it down in a couple of days. Now I been able to go like 2 or 3 weeks with just refreshing my twist. My roots get crazy like yours after a week but I sleep with like a silk do rag type scarf. Lay them bad boys down.
jdc1lovelylady hum maybe I’ll try this. Do you see significant growth ?
As soon as I saw your skin and hair I was like "ooh she's so beautiful!"
Thanks for sharing your routine.
I agree. Ur from where?
I saw her and I was like.
God really decided to bless this woman!❤️
Damn girl , you are so blessed to have all that hair. Do not cut it whatsoever!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love twist. My hair grows like crazy, but like you, they look crazy by the end of the week.
I keep my twists in for at least a week and change up the style. Honestly I live around a lot of East African women and they’re forever wearing braids and twists. I just follow their flow
Girl, if I had your hair I would be stunting all day everyday. Amazing sheen and curls.
You do not ever need to wear a hat! Your hair looks nice with the braids, twist, twist out and the bun. I love your beautiful divine dark skin!
U should try mini braids and twist the ends
Recently I start doing mini braids on my natural hair n that's been my protective hair style it last two or three weeks
Diane Walcott Do you see growth ?
Patrice D'Evans I just started mini twist, let it in for 1 month, washed my hair twice while I had it on.. My hair really grew lol. I had bought hair for braids but I’m about to do another mini twist. I started with 3 strand braids then continued with twists!
Stephanie A
How do you wash your hair with the mini twists in?
I definitely watch Netflix when I do my hair. I am watching The Stranger right now
Me too
Bukunmi Olowu it was good!
Netflix and twist!!!
Locke n key is littt.. And I agree we don’t wear twists or braids anymore on our natural hair. I know I don’t because my hair is short I hate the awkward stage
I understand you girl. I have a really bad set back so I’m wearing twists too retain lenght but by wednesaday they look like locs.
I started wearing twist last year and I wear them when I'm out working out in the morning so I'll let my twist get I do wear wigs to work one just because it's easier at 2 because it protects my natural hair but once I have like about 24in of Farrah right now I have 10 inches once I have 24in I think I will wear my twist a lot more even to work cuz I think they're beautiful and it's my natural hair and I love my natural hair it took me decades to love it but at this point I adore it and I'm grateful to God that He gave it to me nothing wrong with it at all if there was he would have not given it to me
Iris Jessup Amen. Do you ever wear your natural hair out in a style ? Or are you waiting until you achieve the 24 inches?
I would definitely wear my hair in twists or braids more often if i didn't have such low density and fine hair, yours is so full and chunky and fluffy , mine not so much 😭
Who are you telling. I love braids and twists but like you, I have low density fine hair. I need to see a youtuber with our hair.
Yes my fine tresses is about 4 of her chunky twists! Le sigh
When you said "ok father God I see what you're doing for me" mi nearly dead
My current hair style at the moment and one of my favorites ever. It feels unnatural to even think about undoing them as I'm loving it so much.
I wash my hair once a week and moisturize in between. My twists are super juicy and my edged are filling out more
I can’t do this style. I have fine hair. Your twists look gorgeous.
tequilashots875 I have fine hair too and I HATE IT‼️
jasmine Morris it’s frustrating because they say do your twists smaller to make them look fuller. It looks like some spaghettis on my head. Lol
That is so me
Me too. But good thing even with added hair it can grow too.
I just do flat twists and I loooove them
Ditto. Twists only look decent on me if I do smaller sizes (but not mini twists 🤮) or fluffy loose twists.
Yeah my hair it really fine too , for full juicy twist I can only put like 12 in , small/mini twist look like noodles .
Thanks for the tips
Bun in the building...BUN BUN🤣
I do wear my twists out and everyone loves them! They are super cute. And i wear them to work every few weeks.
Curly and Unconventional u will see the results trust me
Twists have always been my go to style since childhood, natural hair is too versatile for it to ever be played out . your hair is beautiful btw 🥰🥰
First week with twists actually! I’m excited to see how long they last and more importantly see the growth! Loved your video!
This is what I do also, I wear my hair in twist all the time. I have young kids and I just don’t have the time to do my hair everyday. People say I look like a little kid but that’s fine with me my hubby likes it and that’s the only person I need to like it
I wear my hair in twist 90% of the time. I love it and Its easy for me. My hair is just past Bra strap length and Healthy!😊❤
I have been doing mini twists for about 6 months on and off now. I have noticed so much growth. I love it.
You’re so beautiful ! And your hair too ! Heartbreaking ! ❤️
The twist out looks good on you. I start with twist to Bantu knots- wear them for like a week. Then take them down, rock the curly twist until they done, then take them down and where loose for another few days. Beautiful hair
I can't wait for my hair to get some more length so I can do this because this having to style every other day starting to get annoying lol
Yes bun bun! I prefer twists cause I can spritz some water, add some leave-in and go.
I just got into three strand twists and braiding at the root. I’m never going back to braids or two strand twists 😂
Twist are my go to style gal! My roots don't get as frizzy as yours and I redo them every 2 weeks. Def has contributed to my hair growth. Love your energy!
Gurl!!!!!! You're hair is so bomb ASF!!!!!! And you're a flawless and Gorgeous Beauty 😍 😍💖
Your hair is thick and long tho for people who have shorter and naturally finer hair no it does not look cute🤷🏿♀️
Exactly. My hair is past shoulder length stretched but my hair isn’t that thick
I FEEL YOUUUU! The only thing protective style I look presentable in is flat twists.
Doing the twists will make it grow though!
I like your hair in the bun! It is beautiful in every way!
Nickell Jernea Today I’m with ya 💯 percent sis! Twists are easier to take down and my new growth be serious.
Hi there...I wear twists for 2 weeks then shampoo...etc n twist again. If I go out, I make sure to do the twist out on the 3rd week then shampoo...etc the day after the outting. Awesome video!!!
I’m watching a Korean drama called Let’s Eat, Loving the style💞
Who would thumbs down this video! She is beautiful!! Hair is gorgeous!
Bees Wax, Hair Jam, Shed free gel, those tend to lead to longer style retention.
Most beautiful soul I have ever lay eyes on, girl, you just got a lifelong friend 😍💯
Those shoulders tho !!!!!!!!!!! Loving the upper strength.
Also ❣️❣️❣️ to locked n key series. I loved it !
I redo the edges and I tie them down. The tie down keeps them neater than a bonnet.
But how can we do this with a twa? I’m growing my hair out but whenever I do my twists my hair unravels and is very weighed down
U cant until ur hair is able to go into a one. I did a wash and go with my twa. After a year when it was able to go into a one I did twist, now its growing like crazy! I low key look like I have dreds all the time but this method retains moisture and grows my hair.
Don't worry. Our hair grows more the less it's manipulated. Just enjoy your TWA until you can do more with it ☺
What is her curl pattern, I’m not trynna be a curl pattern fiend I just wanna know if her hair can be goals for my 4c hair
I would wear my hair like this all the time ... when I hit ur length 😍🥰
Twist has helped my hair grow. And I twist it every week.
They are cute on LONG NATURAL THICK HAIR....Imagine mini twists and braids on short thin natural hair LMFAOOOOO....
nice video Queen. Thanks ❤️❤️❤️
Yasss thank you !! & Lock & Key had me stuck but I’ve been rocking my twist outs but since I cut my hair to neck length I’ve been struggling to get it back to back length 🤦🏽♀️ I know I made a big mistake but we getting there thanks to you🙌🏾
That's her real hair omg🥰🥰🥰jesus my hair need some healing please send holy ghost ineed it.my hair cant grow
Tell yourself you hair can grow n take msm n drink water
That hair is popping off the chain but that glow that skin 😍😍😍😍 Sis
Glow melanin 😍😍❤❤
I literally said after I watch this video I’m going to give that Netflix series a try 🙃 and you said it 😄
You’re such a breath of fresh air.
I'm sooo jealous of this lady right here. Can't hide it. If I knew how to steal her hair and make it mine I'll do it.
I braid my roots too lol My roots will ABSOLUTELY knot in 2-3 days, especially towards the back of my head.
Girl yes I’m a mother of 5 3girls&2boys two strand twist are life for my oldest n I
Hi, this is my first time seeing your channel and watching your video.
I like to braid my roots then twist the rest. Due to that I have a fine grade of hair. Been doing this for a while now...
Me too
Yes. I love doing that too. They last a lot longer
Girl Locke & Key was GOOOOD ! And I love your hair . I still wear my hair in twists and braids . It helps my hair grow
Netflixx: Love is Blind, The Stranger (UK series), Back with the Ex,
Yes yes, good series. A must watch 🙂
Love is blind is my fav !!
@@genevaxo nice it's so lit
You’re beautiful and your hair is so healthy! I enjoy your videos and knowledge you give!! Thank you!
Lol I watch RUclips 😂 when i do my hair
I've been natural for 6 years now, she knows fair had definitely foursided since twists are my ultimate style. I never do wash and go's, or any style with my hair blowing around. Every strand is always protected in twists. Also you save so much product because the moisture life of your products extend in protective styles so you don't have to refresh daily
Netflix oh yeah! I'm watching the last kingdom
Well I have been rocking mini twist for a minute now....your hair is beautiful by the way and your skin is glowing....thanks for sharing.💖
