- The late George Ford plied his craft with The Checkmates (with his brother Emile), The Ferris Wheel, Cherry Vanilla, Cliff Richard, Linda Lewis, Al Stewart, Medicine Head, Steve Harley and later The Shadows, among others. One of nature's gentlemen and it really showed in his always-delicious bass lines.

George Ford, a wonderful bass player ❤️
George Ford Rest in peace big fella
A brilliant bass player & human being who when playing with Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel was utterly fantastic, and very influential in my own early development as a bass player..
His work on Best Years Of Our Lives, Timeless Flight, Love’s A Prima Donna & Face To Face is exemplary ❤️
George always looked happy at everything he played.
I remember meeting George Ford a few times when he was on Cliff tours, and the Shads. He was such a lovely chap. I can’t remember the time frame? I was very sad to see he’d left the party some years ago. Cliff only ever had great band members, so did the Shadows. Life was a whole lot safer back then. We were all very fortunate.
He’s just disappeared he dosnt seem to be in the lime light anymore !
@@zoecollymore4153That's because George Ford died in a road accident in 2008.
Incomparable
Just amazing. Never tire of hearing it.; though prefer to see them in video. That combined with their showmanship. Oh, and Hank's inimitable smile. :)
Classic sounds as good as ever
Great clip! Do you have anymore videos from this concert?
rECORDED IN LIVE IN hOLLAND
I wonder where George ford is hiding now , I tried to do some research but there is hardly anything about him he’s not even on Wikipedia 😮 I would love to see wat he looks like now he was a good bass player
George died in 2007
Dose anyone know how many years George was with shadows. Because I think Alan Jones was before mark Grithis
Alan Jones was the first choice bass guitarist from 1978 for some 13 years. However he was a very busy professional session musician and could not always accept bookings with the Shadows if they were offered after he was already committed elsewhere. George Ford was an old friend of the group and did one European tour with them in 1980, plus a number of TV appearances around then. He did not do any recording sessions with them.
George Ford was the bassist with Cockney Rebel after Paul Jeffreys left in 1974.
