Mark we met many times and I will never forget what a decent and lovely man you are. The best bass guitarist still alive in the world today. THIS is wonderful. Thank you.🙂
Mark, you are a brilliant bass guitarist with the shads, I now see and hear that you are just as good on lead guitar. My heartfelt thanks for wonderful memories ❤
Mother’s Grace🙏 Mark!!!! You have proved that a very good lead guitarist can be a very good bass guitarist!!! Kudos ! God Bless You!!! Humble gentleman 👍💐😊👏👏👏
Excellent performance!.......Loved it...💖....One of the most talented Master guitarist in the World..... The Shadows Bass Guitarist..... just Wonderful....👍😎👍 What a rare occasion to watch him play lead guitar.......Amazingly cool.......enjoyed very much.....thank you so much Mark......all the best!
To be honest, I couldn't really believe my eyes what I saw tonight - Mark Griffiths playing LEAD guitar on Shads tunes? I thought I was seeing some impostors or something and so came down here to check for comments to double-check. Indeed, it's the real article! Have been a Shads fan since the mid-1960s and even played a substantial number of their tunes myself at the time. The Shads bassist was never quite a permanent fixture unlike the other three still standing today. Mark's inclusion in the later years was quite noticeable - at least visually. Otherwise, he's "invisible" as his bass lines simply blend in flawlessly with ALL the other "original" members' output just like the 1960s and 70s etc. I've always felt Mark was/is not being given enough credit for his contributions to the Shadows' music and being treated as if he didn't exist.
Sorry, but that's nonsense. First of all he DID stay with them... they didn't play without him after about 1988. And he was Hank's bass player throughout the 1990s. And I think we can all say, quite happily, that Alan Jones, Alan Tarney, Jet Harris, Licorice Locking and John Rostill were all better. I suspect that Mark would agree.
@@blastfromthepast8344 As a fellow bass player I would say that overall Mark is superior to all of the others with the possible exception of Jet Harris on a good day.
You should know that young Mark played for a few other bands, notably Matthews Southern Comfort/Southern Comfort where he was on lead, and some later iterations of Plainsong where he played various instruments. A talented lad!
Didn't realise that Mark could be a lead guitarist until seeing this video he did a really good job. I also saw Jet Harris performing live at a theatre here in Oakengates in Telford at a 60's rock and roll concert where he also played lead guitar and played a couple of Shadows hits. He also played 'Apache' and 'Nivram' as well as 'Diamonds'. I managed to meet him during the interval and he gave my wife a photo which he signed for her.
Da. Odličan basist Mark. No zašto se ne čuje bass gitara kao Gibson bass gitara. To mora biti tako? Ja je nisam čuo od Hankove gitare. He he 🎸🎸🎸🎵🎶🎼. Inače su super 👍 sva trojica. I naravno Bennett na bubnjevima. Bravo bravo majstore 👏👏🥁. Svaka čast 👍💪💪. Odlična glazba. Uživam svaki dan u njoj. Uživancija vas je slušati 🎧.
I saw Mark play with The Shadows for their final tour at Hammersmith and then a few months later met him and had a very brief chat at The Rutles gig at, I think, The 100 Club.
I saw Mark in 1987 & 1989 with the shadows in Wellington NZ. He has been heavily involved with Hank Marvin from then right through to 2002 before again Steppin into Shadows duty in 2004 to present day. Alan Jones had a car accident which meant he could no longer tour it was quite a bad one. The Moonlight Shadows tour in NZ featured Mark on bass. A long serving Shadow/Hank Marvin bass player. He also did the 2009/10 World tour with Cliff for the 50th. Plus all Shadows tours from 1987 - end 1990. 1992 - 2002 was with Hank on tour and in studio then Shadows duty 2004 - 2010. They are all getting on now. Brian Bennett is 82!
Saw them in Dunedin around that time. Played in a theater on the lower side of the Octagon. Traveled up from Invercargill for the show. Have played guitar in bands for 50 plus years, only wish I could play like this guy. Nice job, well done.
Un po' lontano della bravura di Hank Marvin 💓 Le mani delicati non c'è nessuno che possa fare lo stesso livello ! Però nei concerti degli Shadows eri bravo 😇🎶🎸
I remember Mark Griffiths' great bass playing on the Shad's final tour, even making all the moves etc. etc. Didn't know he would be this good at lead guitar. Well, it's not really Marvin, but it's great actually. Unfortunately i do hear some less good sound coming from the drum kit and not-fitting chords from elsewhere (keyboards?)
great sound and playing....but face the audience! That's what Hank M. would have done. You had people who wanted to watch you play not stare at your back. Just friendly criticism.
The unsung hero of the Shadows shows his versatility.
Well done Mark. Wish I had been there to enjoy that live.
Mark we met many times and I will never forget what a decent and lovely man you are. The best bass guitarist still alive in the world today. THIS is wonderful. Thank you.🙂
Brilliant bassist and a star stage performer...form a Shads fan in South Africa....
Mark just bloody brilliant no other word to describe your work Rock and Roll STAN
Mark, you are a brilliant bass guitarist with the shads, I now see and hear that you are just as good on lead guitar. My heartfelt thanks for wonderful memories ❤
Mother’s Grace🙏
Mark!!!! You have proved that a very good lead guitarist can be a very good bass guitarist!!! Kudos !
God Bless You!!! Humble gentleman 👍💐😊👏👏👏
He is a great bass player, perfect on the Shadows' final tours.
Hated how he was treated as a backing player, and not one the Shadows.
Excellent performance!.......Loved it...💖....One of the most talented Master guitarist in the World..... The Shadows Bass Guitarist..... just Wonderful....👍😎👍
What a rare occasion to watch him play lead guitar.......Amazingly cool.......enjoyed very much.....thank you so much Mark......all the best!
Passer de la bass à la guitare solo pas
Facile bravo mark
Playing for the shadows so many times! but never really being part of the group! should have been classed as their all time basses! the greatest!!!
The best bassist whith the shadows. Congratulaton

Well done Mark you surprised me with your guitar playing. That was wonderful i am sure Hank would agree.Keep up the great work
I admire his guitar playing. Beautifully. Best wishes
Thanks for this Mark, absolutely fabulous as always!
Greatest Best Musicians
One of the best....memories live on
You are a great bass guitar player, great performance.
Saw Mark play live about ten times - with Cliff, the Shads and Hank. Great bass player.
Your Bass playing is ( OUTSTANDING ) shame you dint stay with the shadows. you were the best bass player they ever had.

Yeah not only did he never leave the Shadows, he's the longest bass player and arguably the best too that the Shadows ever had.
Mark's bass playing with the Shadows is excellent, his bass lines remind me of Jet Harris.
@@blastfromthepast8344 As a fellow bass player I would say that overall Mark is superior to all of the others with the possible exception of Jet Harris on a good day.
Excellent bassiste, mais dommage personne ne peut remplacer le feeling le toucher exceptionnel de Hanck...
Fab! Just been watching the final tour @ Cardiff Arena on You Tube, but didn't know who the bass player was. Now I do!
Mark also played bass on everly brothers albert hall reunion along with albert lee ! Met him in guitar shop some years ago . So modest .
Spot on my friend, Nice sound. Best Regards 🪗🪗🪗 Mick.

Hi Mark saw you with the shadows in 2004 in Bristol a night I will never forget...well played...Mike.

Excellent! Really nice cover. Thanks a lot, mate.

Fantastic!!
Great job, was great as the bass player for shadows in the final tour video
Right, I watch that video almost every month.
I saw Mark play with The Shadows for their final tour at Hammersmith and then a few months later met him and had a very brief chat at The Rutles gig at, I think, The 100 Club.
Brilliant bassist, (and lead guitarist, I didn’t know that) saw him with the shads at the O2, fantastic, a real unsung hero.

brilliant
Mark was a superb bassist with the Shadows. It's always a bit sad to see great players ending up playing in a shitty pub.
Thumbs up!
He is a great bass player.
I love how Mark didn't even bother to try to sound like Hank. Kudos to him for doing his own thing with them.
The One on best One Members of Band .The Shadow
For all I love the Shadows it was really the melodies
Jet was the best bass player and guitarist the shadows had , Mark was also very good
Mark has done some great work with Warren Bennett too!
Godgoodbassplaterplayertimshadows fan he should do more cd s Tim shadows fan 5:38
I think I heard a bit of "rutle" coming from his amp!
Beautiful!!! Yeah~! His bass of Peace Pipe was the best. It was much better than that of original.
Great, though most of us can play the notes we have no chance of the sound, without the special gear
All Everyone's Needed To Long.Longer .Longest Life.Mostly.
……. As fine a guitarist as he is, Mark Griffiths will always be the ‘Rutles’ bassist as far as I am concerned ….
Saya ngefans sama pak tua satu ini. Memberi warna berbeda di the shadows dgn gayanya yg santai. Berbeda dgn jet dan rostil
What is that blue thing he's playing. A kit guitar ?
I thought Mark Griffiths. and Alan Jones were only Session Bass players for Hank and Bruce.!!!!!
Good job lads . Though they are only a shadow of their formal selves 😅
Here is
The 'silver fox' that apparently goes to the same hairdresser as Bruce Walsh.
マークさんシャドウズでベースでしたよね。ギタリストだったんでsね。うまい。。
Good camera work 2 men and a bit of the ceiling but no bass player !😅
verry well done the bass instrument here needs tightening up though having said that none of us are perfect 100 percent of the time
¡ Noooo ! Le falta muuuuucho.
Its a great Pity that that miserable face in the mirror was Shown
Perhaps lost his woman who was dancing with another guy in the 60s to this..
But what the heck of a guitar is he playing, it's certainly not a Fender
It looks similar to a Bacchus, Suhr or an Astoria strat copy but I don't think his guitar is any of these brands.
Anderson
Great bass player with Hank and Bruce, sorry to write I have heard many pub bands play better
great sound and playing....but face the audience! That's what Hank M. would have done. You had people who wanted to watch you play not stare at your back. Just friendly criticism.
terrible. he should not be allowed to play this.
Perkusista słaby.
The rest is best out sorry
Die Band war natürlich wesentlich besser
poussif ...
