As the Canucks take one more step towards bringing the Stanley Cup back north of the border for the first time since 1993, are they Canada's team?

been following the Canucks since the regular season started. They have always been my favorite team! I'm born and raised in BC baby!

Kids, I'm 50. I've seen the whole thing. Even had season tickets for a while in the 80s.
The rest of Canada is welcome to do as it chooses. I live a long way from Vancouver now - basically the other side of the world. Yesterday, a Leaf fan who lives in the same city I do gave me his nhl.com password so I could watch game three of the Van-SJ series at 3 in the morning, my time. This is a guy who loves hockey and has gone his whole life without a cup. He wants to see Van win. I won't forget him.
Get those season tickets in a trick or treat bag from the griffiths?
I remember when they would give tickets to kids on halloween.
Also remember how it seemed like every game my dad took me to in the eighties seemed to be vs. the Minnesota north stars..

@ScottMagnison I was , im just saying im a habs fan first , I'v never disliked the canucks but i live in the east and my dad lived in Van for a long time so they were always my second favorite team i just like BC period great province and Van City is awesome , Btw how sick would it have been if the habs and nucks played in the final .
Anyone 'Canadian' that cheered for the bruins in the SCF are NOT Canadian imo. They're americans. If you're one of these people then you're a traitor to Canada, you DON'T want the cup to be in Canada? then wtf are you doing here? Instead of cheering for a FELLOW CANADIAN TEAM you choose to root for the AMERICANS of all teams?
There IS no Canada's team, all teams belong to us. Those of you who are fans of other teams but hate the 'nucks, its because you lost and couldn't go. GET OVER IT

During that final game 7 against Boston, I thought back to 1994 and remembered watching all the rioting.
It was complete pandemonium after the '94 Playoff Finals Loss vs. New York Rangers.
After the game ended, and Vancouver had lost the cup in a game 7....... AGAIN!!, I started for the patio out for a smoke and on my way out jokingly (In ZERO way of actually considering it would ever occur) said to everyone over watching...
"I know we're mourning the cup loss and all, but we really need to get downtown fast. If we don't all the good shit'll be looted before we get there!"
Laughing, I stepped out.
About 2-4 minutes later my wife opens the door, tells me that Canuck fans are all rioting like crazy...
All I could muster as a response was...
"...Wait, What....?"
....
"....Really.....? AGAIN....?
....
"....I don't why i'm even surprised...."
....
....
....
"....REALLY....? ....AGAIN....?"

you don't need to remind me of my own team's history. MY TEAM. the team that I WATCH. sorry if it wasn't the right context for you. i have been and will always be a fan. and i know just about every detail. we didn't make the playoffs until we had been in the league for 5 years, we have never won when it really matters, we have periodically been a laughing stock, some of our players dive, luongo is inconsistent, and you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way. go canucks!
@wkozaa123 for one i would not agree with this statement because i will say that the city of Edmonton is even more of die hard fan, even thou we were last for 2 seasons, we still dont give up hope and every night it is a sold out arena but then again, it matters which team you are a fan of and then you can arguably say that your city is more of a die hard fan but as a fellow canadian, seeing 3 Canadian teams fall in the last 10 years, i can say that i would love to see the Stanley cup in canada.
I love the Canucks, they are my 2nd favourite team. However why are all the canucks fans acting like angsty teenage drama queens? Seriously... a lot of people like you guys, and a lot dont. Its no different than ANY OTHER TEAM IN THE LEAGUE.

@CaptainLunk thats playsoffs.. im a canucks fan but i live in chicago i hate the hawks and its the same way no one gave a shit till the finals last year and didnt give a fuck until game 7 1st round this year but they lost:) so that shut them up but i watch everygame thats on here and i check the score of everygame but ive seen all the playoff games cuz they show them here
I wanted really badly to rag on Edmonton and Calgary fans that normally loathe us Canuckleheads (though we are indifferent to you) and how pathetic it would be if they did start cheering for Vancouver, but then I remembered that Canada is better than whiny regional rivalry when it comes to achieving something great. Go Canada, Nucks over TB in 5 - win it at home boys!

same here for me in Germany. Went to several games in Van City, but all the time I can't be right there at least I try to make sure as often as possible to get up early or stay up late to watch the games live. There is no other team in sports I love as much as the Nucks
Honnestly I don't think 1 person in vancity said we were canadas team. It's the media from out of town that are making articles that are saying how they don't want us to be canadas team. And to tell the truth were Vancouver team not canadas team.

Nothing wrong with Canuck fans. its the people that don't watch a single game all season, then fill up my news feed with "OMG GO NUCKS." It's almost as bad as non-football fans watching the superbowl.

I've always felt that if a canadian team did make it to the finals that wasn't the canucks. yes i would root for them. but not any other time.

Amazing! It's just so good to finally see the Canucks this far. I mean, the last time they were in round 3, as we all know was in 1994, and I was only a couple of months old haha, so I totally missed it. I clearly remember last year's playoffs, round 2, game 6...But, that's behind us, and all I can say now is...GO CANUCKS GO! :D

When Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton went to the cup, I supported them whole-heartedly as Canadian brothers.
I was disgusted hearing radio stations in Edmonton and in the Maritimes going for the B's. I saw one headline in Edmonton that said "Anyone but the Canucks". After seeing that and hearing other comments by CANADIANS chewing into the Nucks (WTF?) ...I am swaying to the "not sharing attitude" when we win Stanely.
I live in Kitchener, Ontario. I'll admit I follow my local junior team more than any hockey team, but the Canucks have always been my favourite NHL team. I stay up every saturday night to watch the games on CBC (never get to see the games on sportsnet because of black outs). If the Canucks finally host the cup in June, I'll be the distant voice you hear in Vancouver, screaming as loud as I can from here in Southern Ontario
I moved from Vancouver when I was 4 years old, to Scottsdale Arizona. You can't get much further from the BC and Canadian spectrum than that. But I spent two weeks, every summer since that move in Nelson, being raised a proud Canadian, and a proud BC'er. I'd come home, my accent intact, and I'd face the ridicule from my American classmates with a smile on my face. They didn't understand, they couldn't. Our city is a whole new place, and I will move back not as only a BC Boy, but a Canadian. Love
Out of all my Canucks fan friends, none of them cheered for the Sens, Oilers, Flames when they went to the finals. Nor did I. You live by one team and you die by one team.
I was elated when Tampa beat Calgary, & giddy when the Hurricanes blew out the Oilers's dreams. I'm a Canucks fan who has lived much of my life in Alberta...I've seen Calgary almost lose its beloved team twice...& now that I'm living in Saskatoon I can say this....we Canuck fans are EVERYWHERE! The Canucks are OUR team & this is OUR year!!! GO CANUCKS GO!!!!!!!!!!

Jeez...even though I'm a Canucks fan I admit bashing Americans on a Canucks vid is pretty ridiculous. Sure the Nucks/Americans both are notorious for some negative acts but they're all very likeable people in reality. All the stereotype/rumors etc seem to boost their bad images.
Am I the only person here that actually supports other Canadian teams at least during the playoffs? It's honestly hilarious seeing all these folks from various Canadian fanbases wanting fellow Canadian team(s) to NOT bring the cup back to Canada. I just don't get it. I mean realisticly speaking every Canadian team is likeable to an extent. The Oilers and Flames are both division rivals but I always cheered for them during playoffs. I guess that makes me queer judging by all the posts here? lol
I remember not too long ago cheering for both Calgary and Edmonton in the finals. I was always happy and pulling for them, and felt their pain when they fell short. But in my heart it always hurt a little, since it wasn't really my team. But no matter what I have wanted the Cup to come home. I love going up to Vancouver to see games, the team blows my Triple A team out of the water and the fans are always friendly and awesome. I always have a good time and it is a very beautiful city! I watched in 94 and hope the Nucks go all the way this year!
