What an incredibly informative show. Canadians have long lost their way, and the US is heading in the same direction. Watching shows as yours reminds me that not all have jumped off the cliff. My son has strayed from the way we taught him on very important topics such as the prevailing anti Jewish sentiment that has permiated throughout history. We thought home schooling would be the best way to equip him. We read all kinds of books, watched, and engaged on relevant topics with ppl whose views differed from ours. Alls to say he was not overly sheltered or unprepared. He attended a vocational high school, and things went south quickly in some areas. Today, he's 23, and spouts all kinds of deceptive views on the jewish ppl. Social media and his own heart have taken him in a direction that we find deplorable. We are still loving him, but deeply lament some of his choices and stances. Everyone contributed to this discussion so well. ❤

I went through a similar process, educating myself
oh yas....what you said at the end there really spoke to me. have lost a lot of "friends" since 10.7 and i have grappled with why. you are right that it is them, not me. nothing wrong with me.
Thank you so much for this conversation. I agree with you that though who our politicians are matter that we the people need to make sure they protect what we hold dear. I agree that if everyone did what they could to combat Jew hatred that it would chip away at the issue. It's not one thing it's cumulative
Thank you thank you thank you for this podcast. This is such an important conversation that as a Canadian who wants to fight back against the Antisemitism, woke-ism & the pro-terrorism movement that has infiltrated Canada, I've been thinking about all of these issues a lot since October 7th.
This is so important. Honestly Yasmine and Casey, I have a problem fighting this war. I'm an Israeli. A Jew. I have very few connections in the world who are not Israel-supporting Jews. I tried writing pro Israel content in the first few months of this war. But I am worried about the direction of the war. The Israeli government is bad. Next to Hamas and the other IRGC partners, they are cute little sheep, but they are still not moral people. There are specific cases of soldiers acting in negligence or vengence on the battlefield, and they are not being properly punished. I have a hard time now standing up and supporting Israel when the people in control are not inhibited by the same moral values I believe. I want Palestinians to live in peace beside me, and supporting Israel right now is giving a line of credit to warmongering settlers (there are settlers who are amazing people, but their political representatives are horrible zealots who want to perpetuate the war at the cost of the hostages' lives. I want the IDF to destroy terror infrastructure, but I want the leadership to leverage it into a path to peace. How do we help Israel without strengthening the extremists? What do you think?
First of all, I am an American Jew and know hundreds of American Jews and non- Jews who support Israel -- and we understand all the complexities you explain here. I am sorry you are experiencing all of this pain right now. We know your government is right-wing. We of all people should understand this; we had Donald Trump in charge for 4 years and we will again, and what he did to people who illegally crossed our Southern border was a moral stain on our country. We know what it is like to have a government we detest. We still love and support our country, and we still love and support each other as people. I think you are selling yourself and your beautiful country short. Please stop blaming yourself. Keep supporting and loving Israel. Your criticisms of your government are valid and they are a testament to your country's democratic values; this is a testament to the fact that you CAN criticize your government freely. Your democracy has endured tremendous hardships and ongoing, relentless war; it is only natural for the government to become more nationalistic. Any country that is in constant war would become fascist by now. Yet, Israel remains a strong democracy. You are seeing things from inside the Israeli bubble, rather than seeing how the Jew-haters of the world really perceives Israel. They will hate Israel no matter who is in charge of the government, and no matter what Israel does or does not do. You have to understand this: antisemitism is a disease. There is no cure. We can explain ourselves to these people until we are blue in the face. We can beg for them to see us as human beings who do not want anyone else to suffer at our expense. It does not actually matter to them --- they will hate us REGARDLESS. And, sadly, there is this: the longer the war goes on, and the more wars Israel is involved in, the more war crimes there will be. This is just a statistical inevitability. Time plus war equals greater chance of war crimes, and more traumatized, trigger-happy soldiers...Should the government take action? Absolutely. But compared to other Western countries, is Israel really an outlier? Supporting Israel does NOT make you a "pro war" or "anti-peace", period. Supporting Israel just means we want what is best for the people of Israel and we understand the struggles that this country faces. Yes we want your government to hold your citizens accountable. Yes we want your PM to prioritize ending the war and bringing home the hostages to his own political ambitions. Our hearts are with you. Also, supporting Israel does not mean we lack profound empathy for Palestinians. I personally think we suffer the brunt of bearing the emotional pain for BOTH Israelis AND Palestinians because we see both so clearly. We just refuse to destroy ourselves on behalf of the Palestinians. That makes us human. It really does not matter to the world who your government is, what it does and does not do, what settlers do or don't do, or the scale (whether large or small) of human suffering in Gaza. People have hated Jews and Israel long before any of this went on, and they will continue to do so long after the war ends. Keep your head high, you are okay.
@@rachelkeane331 thank you for this. I've had a really bad day and you really made me feel seen. Am Yisrael Chai and let's keep on fighting for our people and for the world 🇮🇱❤️

These are lofty words, but what you really need to do is really listen to what the palestinians and other muslims say. The palestinians have made it extremely clear that they don't care about their own state so much as they care about israel not existing at all. I don't know how much clearer it could be at this point that they are not interested in peace. You can't negotiate peace with somebody who doesn't want you to exist at all. I'm sure the I d f isn't perfect, but they are held to an absurd standard of behaviorWhereas the palestinians can do absolutely anything, and it is fine with the palestinians and the useful idiots in the west. And it is demonstrably untrue to say that there is a significant difference between hamas and most palestinians. Your compassion is, imo, misplaced. They really do want to kill you. I recommend you watch the conversation between destiny and einat wilf. It's on youtube and she addresses a lot of this. She used to be on the left.
Loved Nyah’s comment and questions. Here’s my opinion as to why so much of the African American community has come to identify and support Iran and Hamas backed ideas and propaganda. 1st is that there is already a sort of mistrust of and perhaps jealousy towards the American Jews. Jews faced similar circumstances of oppression and share a similar history to African Americans except that once the European Jews managed to get out of Europe and get to America, with some definite exceptions, Jews were hated less in America than their African American compatriots. Then, because the Christians in Europe historically did not believe in being money lenders and bankers, so the Jews traditionally were allowed to take those roles, and the Muslims in north Africa and the Middle East did not believe in working with precious metals like gold and silver, the Jews were allowed to those roles. That combined with the fact that Jews have always placed a high value on literacy and being literate regardless of all circumstances, they were able to come to the USA and rise up, making money. The African American community did not necessarily have those same opportunities in the same way despite coming from oppression that Jews could relate to. I think this caused initial resentment. 2. The Islamist movements use language that the civil rights movement has also used- “resistance” “standing up for the oppressed” “by any means necessary” “freedom in the face of oppression”…they literally hijack phrases and concepts from the civil rights movement and turn the Palestinian cause into what comes to sound like an extension the African American cause. It is a shame because the Jewish American communities and the black American communities would only be stronger by working together. When Jews first came to this country the professors at black colleges welcomed them in with open hearts when no other universities and professors would. During the civil rights movement they marched side by side
The success of Jews in USA who were a marginalized minority, disproves the oppressor/oppressed narrative as what dictates every ones path in life is wrong, it ruins the narrative for many professional social justice warriors.
Thank you for speaking up for the Jewish community. I think that it's really important to start talking about the Horse Shoe theory, and how the Far Left has been supporting Far Right policies, coated with leftist terminology. It won't end until we expose them as what they really are.
This is a fantastic conversation. I hope that Canada regains its identity of being a liberal Western prosperous democracy rich with natural beauty and resources, but not lose its way at the altar of political corectness. Thank you for this!
The huge rise in antisemitic attacks recently are a brutal reality. I lean left, but am not blind. So many of my favorite hosts seem to be willfully ignorant when it comes to discussing grooming gangs in England or the NOMA incident or these events in Canada, a country that needs to see things as they are and not how they want them to be. They will have enough problems with a person to the south insisting it should be the 51st state. These other hosts lack self-awareness about how their refusal to acknowledge patterns of behavior or that different groups or cultures can have their own, is a big reason why we keep losing elections. When someone says they see everyone as the same, what they mean is that they think, or want to think, everyone is like THEM. This is both naive and arrogant. People are like themselves. I grew up in a culture with many nice things as well as things I chose to de-select and it is a thing. This is why I admire Yasmine so much: it has been much harder for her to follow the path she chose than someone else. Those of us that live in and between worlds and not in ivory towers know that. Let us work together like these two rather than call everything that makes us uncomfortable misinformation or phobia or racism before even looking into it because we don't want to accept that some cultures have values that are incompatible with the idea of respecting everyone. This needs to be addressed even as we also stay aware that lovely people exist in all of them. Bad should be bad no matter who does it.
One of the main things that makes me distrust Pierre Pollievre is he refuses to get the intelligence reports so that he can complain and still plead ignorance.

38:51 RE Casey's comment about how Canadians are told the best way to affirm their identity is to confirm their guilt, I wonder sometimes if one of the reasons for non-Jewish, non-Muslim resentment of Jews comes from the fact that Jews generally do not share this sentiment since Jews have historically been the victims while at the same time generally being just as white as the people who do feel this guilt.
It's a western perception that Jews are white. 50% of Israelis are Mizrachi or descendants of Mizrachi; Jews from Iraq, Iran Syria, Yemen, etc. 10% are from Africa including black Ethiopian Jews. 10% are Sephardic. 20% are Ashkenazi. After one generation in Israel they intermarry. Israeli skin colors span the entire range from black to white & everything in the middle.
