    I am so glad that their is a tribute to the Vicente Calderon in English. This is no longer a team that is only known in Madrid, Spain. This is now an international team that everyone knows about. I personally wish they built a new stadium in the same location, but what is done is done.

    I went to a game in the Calderon two years ago with friends, against Almeria. One of the most beautiful stadiums I've ever been to. And the Atletico supporters were really friendly and made us feel welcome. So sad that this is the end for the stadium.

      abdullah hussian true, same as why arsenal's stadium now is shit yet highbury was a great stadium. The only thing to make it feel like home is that clock from the old highbury clockend

      Englands two most successful clubs haven't moved stadiums yet even tho both are playing relatively shit compared to how they used to play so I don't see why these clubs like West Ham move stadium for success. They should build up their history and create success.

      @RAVEN AK47 West Ham , a big club ? Next joke , please . When was the last time you won something ? 😂 The FA Cup in 1980 ... 4 major trophies in your history , is not really that much , to be considered a big club .

    • @vladdascalescu
      @vladdascalescu 4 года назад

      @RAVEN AK47 Hmm , Real wins a title almost every year , West Ham won their last title , like 40 years ago . Maybe you were an important club in the '70-80 , but that's about it . A team from my country , Astra Giurgiu beat West Ham twice ...

    You live you feel the history of your club , you can take your so called big clubs like Real and Barca but they are bought by big investors just like in our league .
    But like you we want to win and every game is a cup final .You need to move on and keep winning and break the existance that the others have , my Grandmother was from Madrid and like her im a big fan, unless we ever meet .

    I'm a Real Madrid fan from Malaysia and I had a chance to visit this stadium when I was in Madrid 3 years ago just before the UCL finals in Lisbon. Sat at the stadium pub and had a few beers. It is a truly a stadium in a neighborhood of working class people. Sad to know that the next time I visit Madrid the stadium won't be there anymore.

    I am a Barç fan and I had the privilege of attending a great game in Estadio Vicente Calderón in Copa del Rey (FCB 3-2 ATM). I remember that glorious night, the whole.neighborhood around the stadium was filled with Rojiblanca supporters. The chants echoed between the alleys of Madrid. Then, the first moment when I entered the stadium, I fell in love with it. The ultras are one of the best in Spain and Europe. Although I support Barça, in that particular match, I cheered for Atletis goals.
    I shed a tear when I heard the news about the new stadium. It's gonna be away from that amazing neighborhood. That legendary atmosphere of El calderon could be lost forever. 💔

    As a Barca fan, I will always associate this stadium with doggedness and toughness. I will cherish the memories whenever Barca played against Atletico there, in particular in recent years many important matches have been played there. Even against other teams, the Calderon can bring out the brutality of all teams. I remember vividly last year against Sevilla in CDR final, Barca had to work on all cylinders, played with unusual tactics and go into extra time just to win. Just shows how the Calderon can impact teams

    It still breaks my heart that they left that wonderful stadium. As soon as I moved to Madrid I was enamoured with Atleti and the Calderon and I went to as many games as I could afford. I've been to the Wanda and to be honest it's amazing but in a different way. I hope Atleti don't turn into a tourist team.

    • @ElMike458
      @ElMike458 7 лет назад +14

      The problem is that the club can not make big changes to the stadium. At the front we have Manzanares river, below a motorway (M30) and at the sides, streets and buildings which can´t be removed. 3 roads have to be closed in a match day becouse the people that goes to the stadium. The bus lines and the underground system are really far from the stadium and it has no parking for the spectators. They have space for nothing :/

    You see Atlético chairman Cerezo and Gil (the last president's son) made a pact with the previous mayor to give away the terrains just because the local government wanted to properly underground the M-30 road. In exchange the city hall would exchange the Peineta stadium, built for athletism events, and its surroundings. The fanbase was not consulted, and the agreement was signed back in 2008. I have my doubts the exchange was profitable, because expenses have raised above expected, but the new stadium is marvellous, +15000 capacity and all the commodities, parking lot, etc. Still I wouldn't have moved, but it's time to move on. What I don't really like is the new badge, looks like captain america's shield.

    As an intense follower of football, especially the English Premier League and La Liga, it's equally emotional for me. Love the passion!! Someday I want to visit the Old Trafford and Camp Nou!

    So you have a guy from USA, wearing an Argentina jersey, Athleti scarf, in Spain talking about Athletico Madrid. What a fake fan and not to mention disrespectful as well! No true Spanish fan would be in a Argentina jersey
