This was very useful for me, I bought the kit as Wifi is poor in certain areas of the house. I am totally useless with anything slightly technical but your instructions were very clear and I'm up and running. Thank you very much
Hi I have bought this kit, I understand the smaller unit goes into my wifi router with cable, and the larger unit into a normal electric socket and the wifi signal goes through the electric circuit. So I will plug this in the kitchen on an exterior facing wall as I have a wireless battery operated spotlight camera out there. But I also have an add on wireless camera on the summerhouse about 50 ft away from main house but still has electric power provided by same circuit/fuse board. Which add on extender do I need to buy to plug in in the summerhouse to get this add on wireless camera to work please ? Both cameras use lithium non rechargeable batteries which should last 2 years but feed back says only really last 1 year but because of the weak wifi signal they are flat in 36 hours 🙄😤 so I am hoping this system through the electric circuit will solve the problems.
That’s why I’m here. I built a barn 30’ from my house. I have the adapter kit but still messing with it. I don’t think that they are paired correctly. I’ll try again
I have tried the TP Link AV 600. I needed to extend to my metal garage 120 feet behind my house. It worked intermittently at best and only on a clear day with the door OPEN to my garage.... I was also using it for wasted my money! Now I'm looking again...
I have a load of tp link smart bulbs around my house and I think maybe my router is strained because when I go from one bulb to the next or switch them all on together or maybe a routine is activated not always do all the bulbs come on like they should, my Google assistant actually says things like living light could not be reached, would this be useful. I think I need a hub dedicated to just my bulbs really 🤔
I was going to buy one of these as I need to iprove the wifi that is coming into my studio room. The studio is across the garden outside of the main house. It has it's own fuse box in it so does that mean it wouldnt work? The router is in the main house. If you (or anyone in the coments who knows) could let me know that'll be ideal. I have an Ethernet lead that is long enough to go from the house to the studio, so I could hardwire my desktop, but then I'll still have the same issues regarding the weak wifi reaching my Macbook, tablet etc. If this won't suffice, then it there some sort of aerial that I can simply connect via the ethernet lead, that will just boost the signal in the studio room? Cheers
It's better to have them both plugged into wall sockets so the signal is being sent and received on the exact same circuit but using extenders does work - but I would try to at least keep the smaller plug using a wall socket if possible. I have tried multiple variations of this and get less/minimum connection issues when using wall sockets with both plugs.
I brought one..same 600 one but I didn't get a adaptor...when contacted they said the extender has a inbuilt adpater...but it doesn't get Connected...any help?
I have done this and use as Ethernet and it is always disconnecting - driving me insane as I have to climb under the desk and press the button yet again and restart it. Any ideas. We use Mac everything. Great when it does work but when the computer goes to sleep or I am not using my phone or tablet for a few minutes it all goes off. HELP please.
hi I connected via 2nd option wps and I still don't have Internet. If I connect directly to router via lan cable everything works but when I connect via extender my laptop shows a message "connection limited". Didn't try the first option yet maybe it will eventually work🤞
The wps option is to just gather the ssid name of your existing network and password so the wifi it emits has the same ssid (wifi name) and password. The one will need to be plugged into your router wired lan port to provide an internet connection.
Great video, helped me make up my mind. Quick question, i already have a virgin booster, will using this booster complicated or slow down the general speed of the internet? Not sure if that makes sense.
Just step mine up, came with two small devices instead of a large and a small? Ordered the kit. So far they seem to be nothing special, heats up pretty good and had to re link them after I turned my Xbox off.
I got this kit last week as I wanted to play PS4 online in my man cave up the top of my garden Let me say game on…. Brilliant cost £40 from curry’s totally amazing
Hi Chris, I've just got hold of the 3 pack kit got it 2nd hand, but bought it before I realised this only runs on 2.4 ghz, my question is that my router (bt) throws out both 2.4 and 5 ghz, will it still work or will I have to do something else?
I'm afraid I don't have a long enough distance to test this, but 40m is quite a long way so I wouldn't be surprised if you saw some drop outs to be honest.
@@homenetworkgeek192 that is absolutely impossible, the ethernet port is only 100Mbps and there is no way an N300 2.4GHz wifi will transmit 300Mbps, not even close, in this video your internet speed via LAN on router is about 55, but you only get 43 on this device wifi, that prooves everything
I just came across your channel and subscribed I hope maybe you can help me since I know nothing about computers or internet service. I just got the ring pro 2 and it only has 1 bar of wifi heres my setup. My ring is outside front door then you come in and go up a flight of stairs to another door then 15 ft in is my optimum router. What would be the best way and product to get better wifi to my ring pro 2 under 150 dollars. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED
Will the extender remember my Wi Fi network address and password as I unplug it and move it to its desired low single part of the house? I just bought the AV200 second-hand on eBay, to be honest it looks unused and I can see why. The instructions are totally useless. This is worse than Chinglish. There's a micro CD ROM that I cannot be bothered with and various contradicting written instructions, all claiming to be Quick Start guide.
Thank you, I live in a very rural area and the internet we get is 5mb/sec however WiFi barely even gets a tenth of that. I’m hoping this will help create a more stable and reliable connection
You get two in the pack anyway. One needs to be close to your router as the two need to be connected, and you can then put the other somewhere else in the house.
I think you just tested it in ideal condition, no interference, same circuit, same breaker, in real world there are lots of obstacles a powerline can not handle
I think tp-link are atrocious. So many variants and serial numbers, do they all work together? In my case no, endless endless faffing around pressing buttons (not only is that mysterious front button hard to find but the funny little icons are printed i white ink on white plastic. It's as if tp had a board meeting to work out how they could be as awkward as possible. Their response on the facebook pages is sloooow, their dedicated support line is hopeless. One of them literally told me to switch it off and switch it on again, another to get a new cable, and then that there was a problem with the laptop. A new cable and a different laptop later and we still had no ethernet. Avoid tp-link, waste of time
Powerline disappoints 98% of the time. Tried it also on a very clean group wired with 2.5mm2. No potential intrusion devices like a fridge or anything at all. And its performance is absolutely abysmal.
I needed to slow down your speaking. Learner takes time to process information. Presenter already understands the input. Good content. Explained thoroughly though
Excellent, clear video. Many thanks. No waffle, no banter, just clear, step by step instructions.
Finally - someone who has compared ALL connections I was wanting to see! Thank you 😊

My thoughts entirely.
Simple, clearly spoken and jargon free.

Worked brilliantly for me. Now have good WiFi on every part of my property, including in the outbuildings.

Would the AV600 extender work in my loft if my router is on the ground floor or is it best to get the AV1000 - my house is 3 levels.
Does it matter that the connected outlets are on the same electrical panel circuit?
Excellent review. I live in an apartment, does it work well if I had to connect it in my garage which is circa four storeys down?
Do i need to buy anything else after i buy the AV-600 starter kit? or will i be able to spread the wifi with what they give me?
Great information, thanks. I am out of ports on my router. Can I plug the LAN cable into a network switch port instead of the router?
Yes, I use mine through a network switch and no issues.
Which TP - Link or any other powerline adaptor using ethernet would you recommend for PS5 ?

Is there a way to disable the WiFi component of it? Do you just long press the WiFi button??
I essentially want it to behave asa powerline adapter as I believe it’s causing WiFi interference (essentially halving the bandwidth…
Not many people mention the cardboard liner when unboxing - good to see
Power light on the big adapter isn't blinking when I press please help me bud
My ps5 can’t find the extender network how do I fix this
Silly question but if you press the WPS button on your router to sync your wi fi connection, do you still need to so the first bit where you pair it?
If my internet is running 100ms will this make it a lot faster during gaming?
Great video, helped me make up my mind. Quick question, i already have a virgin booster, will using this booster complicated or slow down the general speed of the internet? Not sure if that makes sense.
I can't say for sure as I don't use a booster myself but I wouldn't imagine it would cause any issues.
With those download speeds was that with GIG connection?

Hiya, can I pair a netgear an tp-link adapter or do they need to be the same brand?
Grate video tutorial too, clear an to the point 🎉
is there any reason my powerline led switches off 5 minutes after successfully pairing?
could be in power saving mode perhaps?
Can i extend my powerline network if i bought a second kit?

Is it 2.4 GHz? As our router is Duel band 2.4 and 5.0Ghz,thanks, liked the video very helpful.
My internet keeps saying no internet found... how do I fix this :/
Does anyone knows how to fix it?
What if I don’t have a router
Can I put it on a extension cord and it’ll work both things ??
I tried its weak
Great video mate. Quick question. My ps5 game's r lagging. Do u think this device would help?
Cheers
Should you turn it off when your not using it? Does it run out of battery?
it runs on electricity not batteries
How many pc can I conect plzz ??
Does this effect packet loss and can you plug this into an Extension cable
no u can't put it into an extension cable, it won't work properly
If your just using the ethernet, do you still have to mess with the internet? Or once it's paired and both wired will it work straight away?
Nope need to mess with anything else. Just pair them up the once and you're good to go.
@@homenetworkgeek192 thank you! Nice and simple
Is it also maxed at 100mbs? Is the 1000 the exact same also? And is it worth the upgrade, I pay for 200mbs not sure if to buy this one or the 1000
Looking on the box it says it supports up to 300 Mbps on Wi-Fi so you should be fine.

Hi!Can you tell me how long is that ethernet cable in the box?I cant find any info about it? Is it kong enough?

I've lost the password card that came with it, can anyone advise
Try logging in to the admin interface by browsing to the IP address of the powerline adapter and using "admin" as the default password.
So if using wifi i dont have to connect the ethernet cable from large adapter to my laptop ? Tech phobe 😂

Okay me names Chris

Fantastic review and how to. It would be interesting to see if the same variances occur with higher speeds like 200, 600 and gigabit download speeds.
the ethernet ports only support 100Mbps, so there is no way it could pass on 200, 600, and gigabits
