Someone already probably said this but the tone works in active or passive. And the stacked mid let’s you select what part of the mids you want to boost/cut. Keep up the great work!
The knob below the volume is tone, second knob is blend, third is treble, the fourth is mid with a mid sweep. ( No high mid or low mid) . Last knob is bass. In passive only the blend and master tone controls work.
Hey Johnny, Marcus (Miller) discusses all the functions and features 👌🏾 of this bass in his videos. Check it out. If you want to hear from the horses mouth.
That Bass is the Game Changer!!! I have the first and second generation v7 5 string basses. I also own a couple of their M series Basses as well. Sire Basses are everything that they’re built to be as far as the Quality of them.
1st knob - volume and tone (works in active and pasive) 2nd knob - pickup blend (works in active in pasive) 3rd knob - high cut/boost (only active) 4th knob - mid cut/boost and mid frequency (only active) 5th knob - bass cut/boost (only active)
From day one, I have enjoyed my V75 since 2016. I've been blessed to own a Ken Smith, an Alembic, a Warwick, and a Peavey Cirrus USA among others. In my opinion, for the money, it's very hard to get a bass with more or equal quality, features, playability, and tone. And the low B and the sustain, especially for a bolt-on bass, is ridiculous!
@@mkphotofusion3676 I need to clarify what I said! I no longer own the Cirrus, the Warwick, the Alembic or the Smith. I do regret selling the Cirrus and the Smith!
I have a 4 string version of the V7. I am seriously thinking about picking up a 5 string. I love these basses. These have amazing tone in both active and passive modes.
The lower stacked mid frequency control is for setting the mid range frequency ,and the control on top of it is for controlling the amount of mids you want in your sound. You can make it growl or clean at a set mid tone of your choice, these basses have massive voicing range/tone flexibility, especially the v7 vintage has the 70s bridge spacing, which is closer to the bridge pick up , and gives it more growl .
I was not a fan of that bass either initially. But once I tried a used one at G.C. that completely changed my mind. I have owned 7:41 several American Fender jazz basses deluxe, a BassMod, a Pedulla jazz bass, 2 Carvin SB 5000, a Musicman $$, which was not a jazz bass of course. And I have to say that the Sire v3 excelled each one of them , I was totally stunned. I would occasionally see guys playing the Sire bass and think to myself, maybe this guy is playing that Sire bass just because it’s affordable. No that’s not the case those have tone and versatility, and I must say the neck at least on the one I brought felt sort of like Lakland neck. Which I do think Lakland necks are great !
Got the 2. gen V7 and P7 5-string. KILLER basses! The P7 is my absolute favourite soundwise, but the neck of the V7 with the satin finish....that neck just makes you wanna stroke your chin against it :-D. Got the P5 5 string on the way...can´t wait. P bass AND satin finish on the roasted maple neck...already feel the juices running!!
The day I ordered my Sire V7 with alder body and rosewood fretboard I went to the Sadowsky factory, and the one I wanted cost $5500. I went back to my hotel and ordered the Sire @$799. It took about 3 weeks to arrive, but it was love at 1st note. That one got killed saving my life in a car accident. Insurance bought my current V7 with Maple fretboard and ash body. Slightly heavier, but better details. (Gen 2). Absolutely killer bass. The magic is in the mids. I've got DR fatbeams on it now- it came with D'Addarios, but I'm gonna get some SIT foundations on your recommendation.
@@ericward8010 Yeah, I'd also much rather have a good production bass for $799 than a $5,500 Sadowsky. Maybe if I were filthy rich I would feel differently. The quality and sound of production models these days are fabulous! Enjoy you bass, man!
Well Johnny I couldn't be silent on this one. [Ace here] I have 2 myself the M V7 (4 str) and M V (2 gen) 5 strg. Been gigging my Gen1 V7 5 string as my main bass for years now. Excellent preamp, clear low B and a super neck are gamechangers at that price. The hardware could do with a refresh for Gen3 IMO.
I previously owned the M7 and Vintage V7 and maybe I received two bad ones, but they both had fret buzz issues and electronics were not what I was expecting. I was really disappointed in the M7 as it did not feel good in my hands. It felt cheap and the V7 is the nicer of the two, but it is heavy.
I got this v7 2nd Gen one on sale 6 months ago for $525 new. It has great aggressive sound. 7 tone controls. you have to learn this system. The only issue I have with it, on active mode I have interference hissing noise with my amp. we have to find the right position angle and distance.
