Hopefully she can deal with the pressure

She is from St. Lucia... and we are PROUD of her.. Go Julien !!

She also went to high school in janaica, where she did most of her training as an athlete and also completed in the Jamaican boys and girls Championship
She also went to high school in Jamaica, which is where she started her track and field career. She also took part each year in the boys' and girls' championship and went to one of the high schools in jamaica, which is known for great coaching, which was where she got her scholarship to go to college in the states where she is now... not taking anything from her because she is very talented, and the training she received in Jamaica will push her to the boundaries

Proud st lucian...our first elite athlete
Your country is tiny. Probably less than 100,000 people.
Levene Spencer was also an elite athlete.
@@chanler8046 our definitions of elite are not the same. She was a world class athlete but based on my definition i would class her elite . Elite is the creme de la creme to me.
@@TheVinceatkins Alford has not run against the best so give it a rest until she reaches her quest. Once she does, be my guest and get it off your chest.
@@TheVinceatkins we know Julien is in a league of her own but Leverne worked extremely hard and also won medals for St. Lucia I am supportive of my St. Lucian people. I guess that makes me different to others when they refer to elite.
She seems really strong, and she's been nothing but consistent. I think she's a contender for a medal this year. In the 200, she's run a WL, and in the 100, she's run times that are competitive with Ta-Lou, Richardson, and Jackson. She could medal at world's this year, and she probably has room for improvement next year. I imagine that Jackson will up her game in the 200, but there's a lot of parity in the 100 this season without Fraser-Pryce dominating. College stars often fade at worlds, and veterans sometimes show up out of no where and run brilliantly, but Alfred is still looking really good.
She's used to running from the front n in the pros she will very likely stumble just like Abby Steiner n Melissa Jefferson.
What‘s happening with Fraser-Pryce?
@@Lotschi June 19, 2023 Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce posted on social media that she will be competing at the Jamaican National Championship on July 6 thru July 9. She already has a bye into the World Championships 2023.
I suspect Elaine Thompson Herah will also show up at the Jamaican National Championships, although she does not have a bye to the Worlds.
@@winterhug4331 ok, thank you!
@@Lotschi She is RETIRING after this year! Can’t expect her to be doing 100%. Don’t expect much from her. I am sure she will run fast but don’t expect too much from her. If she medals that would be good but she will probably like Usain Bolt his last year

Awesome narration brother as always! Totally inspiring channel. Keep doing what you do.
3:30; Yeah noticed since indoors that Julien leans a little too early at the finish line which according to Coach Flo is cos they've been holding back on working on certain things (which will now be addressed) to keep her as fresh as possible for the WC in about 8wks time. She needs to rest & recover the rest of June, then run 2-3 DL Races in July in preparation for the WC in mid-August.
Coach Flo also mentioned that she no longer plans to run the 200m @Major Champs cos of how much she hates it which I don't get cos you'd think running a bunch of 4x4s this year would've made it clear how much less of a pain the 200m is in comparison, plus she's passing up the chance of winning extra medals at future Global Champs since relay medals are going to be out of her reach with being from such a small island nation.
The greatest collegiate performance of all time starts and ends with Jesse Owens’ four *world* records in 45 minutes. Unless and until someone even matches that, let alone set more world records in under an hour, Owens owns the greatest collegiate performance ever, and everyone else is vying for #2.
Notice how NONE of the usual racists, fake a$$ sport aficionados and the usual pseudointellectual keyboard gangsters dare comment? Guess they all used whatever little grey matter they possessed and fact checked your statement and stfu. Kudos to you!!!

Loved track and field when young. Ran an 11.17 - 100 yard in 7th grade at 12 years old. Was winning literally everything. Then parents got divorced. I never went back to track. Thinkmit might have been a mistake. Years later started basketball and got a walk on position at UTEP as a point guard with team mates Tim Hardaway, Antonio Davis, Greg Foster and others. Track had taught me a first step that was so fast, I could not be guarded very well. Broken neck in a car accident that year ended that.
All good memories all the same.
Agreed, she’s amazing
She is built for speed! She is going to sneak up on the World Championship finalists this year and beat the favorites
Here she come, there she go!!
WHAT A TALENT ; PERFECT TIMING FOR HER WITH WORLDS THIS YEAR AND GREAT BUILD UP FOR THE OLYMPICS NEXT YEAR
She is possibly the most promising athlete competing in the NCAA at the moment, but a podium finish is a big ask in the solo events. They are so stacked and even though we've not seen much of Elaine and Shelly-Ann this year, finishing ahead of Marie-José, Sha'carri and Shericka won't be easy. On the plus side, she has a very good chance of a podium finish in the 4x1.
What country she represents?
@@HovaSwerve St. Lucia, which I probably should have thought about before saying she had a good chance of a podium place in the relay. Not sure what I was thinking there.
She finished 5th at the WCs.

544th! It’s nice to see a female sprint champion who runs THROUGH THE TAPE and not showboat in the last 5-10 meters of the race. Unlike other female sprinters I don’t have to, and won’t, mention their names. Abby Steiner is another female sprinter who doesn’t showboat before the finish line of the race. It’s just refreshing to watch an athlete do what they have been taught from the first day of track practice. RUN THROUGH THE TAPE! Roger in Pierre South Dakota

As usual, top drawer content. Alfred is super talented, humble, a top achiever and on the trajectory for a world championship podium. Just hope she remains injury free.
She undoubtedly has the ability to medal at the World Championships. However, I'm always concerned about collegiate athletes competing in the summer because it is such a long season for them (remember Terrence Laird). I just hope she has not peaked too soon.
I had some concerns coming into this year because her 200 was relatively weak compared to her 60 and 100, but she has been a force since day 1. Clearly has taken a leap and the only one left is to consistently do it as a pro.
UPDATE - Alfred just defeated Sha'Carri Richardson in the Szekesfehervar continental tour meeting - 10.89 VS 10.97.
That brah…. Put me in stitches 😅😂
I love this guy..as soon as I hear "however" I know something like "the greatest" has happened and he's about to tell us...

I found out her parent sent her to Jamaica as a little baby, she grew up in Jamaica, trained in Jamaica, also went to high school in Jamaica, that explains it.
Those legs look strong! Amazing runner.

This Beautiful Young woman has a great future, hope she breaks all the records.
Man..with a start like that.
Those Jamaican women are gonna reClaim the world record in the 4×1..
They only have a 2 year window to do it ... Tops because SAFP is gonna start declining
she broke all records that fact
That Texas team that broke 4x100 m record had Alfred who grew up in Jamaica and also another Jamaican is on that same team who she went to high school within Jamaica, not only that, BUT all the Top NCAA athletes ALSO this year are. Jamaicans, WTH
even athlete of the year male, females, Jamaican or went to high school in Jamaica. Alot of college go to Jamaica to scout young athletes in high school give them scholarship, Texas is highly known for scouting Jamaican athlete.
You write with authority but you just made all of that up - she is from my island St Lucia, she is not from Jamaica she went to school in Jamaica for just 3 years, that’s it. She grew up in St Lucia.

Alfred is a phenomenon.
Holy $#!€ she broke the 60m record 5 times this year. That’s goat status right there
Wow! She's amazing!!! I hope to see her at WC!!
Powerful runner, can only get better 🤯
She looks like Ben Johnson's sister. Her running technique looks very similar as does her muscularity.
I still remember watching Ben on TV during the '88 olympics. He was intense. Too bad he didn't have a better pharmacist like Carl Lewis😉
@@Bigern2998He had one, it was just Carl was never going to let him get away with it. Carl Lewis told, you could see the hate in his eyes the whole time. All these people are juiced to the gills. Julien Alfred has the worst running form I've ever seen in my life and she's put on about 35 pounds of muscle in the last 2 years. Idk how she stays straight on course the way she kicks her legs behind her. Watch the race from the front. She's wasting the most leg movement of all time. Issam Asinga at 18 running wind aided 9.8s and nothing but 10 flats or better all year when he was running 10.67 and 21.95 the year before. He wasn't even on the radar last year. I know people hate to hear it but you don't go from 10.9 to open last season to 9.8s with wind. All of a sudden every Caribbean and African born citizen is sprinting at pro levels this year? Other than Knighton there are no Americans really keeping up at all. I'm not going to name the 30 some kids under 21 who have run sub 10s or sub 20s this year. It's way too many. Even Knighton's 19.49 is highly questionable...after the year Shelley Anne had, nothing surprises me especially considering she wasn't even a viable pro at 24 or so.. she was running 11.4s until then.. I'm all for the sauce but let's be realistic and not the kids. You should have to wait until you're 23 or 24 to start but it's clear that's not happening. Orogot was running wind aided 19.6s then at a real event he can't beat Boling. To me, that's the real life showing of what drugs do vs what happens if you don't do them. People love to hate Boling, certain people normally but a lot of people in general but he was literally top 5 all time highschool sprinter. People want to deny that was the truth but look at him now, people 3 or 4 years younger than him are running by him now and he's clearly put the work in. He didn't jack his time off at Georgia. People will say genetics but it's clear what's happening. You have to be a fool or naive to not see it. Especially anyone who just knows sports. Ryan Crouser broke his own world record, non chalantly by 7 inches in his first event of the season. It's probably the shoes.
@@chuckdeuces911 June 19, 2023 Dude nothing has been proven so stop with the juicing speculations. You are the fool who continues to watch track and field if you suspect everyone is juicing...No one if forcing you to watch or comment, just move on.
@chuckdeuces911 sure, everyone is juicing. If it makes you happy.

Natural speed, hard work in the gym, and going all-out on the tracks. That's the recipe for greatness once the results are record-breaking wins meet after meet. Great analysis.
I expect the Jamaican ladies to push these times into the 10.60s and lower. And Julien Alfred will be there with them.
She will be on the podium. For the PRO athletes to beat Julien they will have to run 10.50s or lower. And that's no guarantee.
