Never at one point did I blame this poor kid through this ordeal. These kids are brainwashed from a very young age and have little to no control over what they are told to put in their bodies. I blame whichever coach(es) forced her to take any banned substances as well as the IOC for all this crap. Trust and believe that this 15 y/o girl was a victim in all this.
There was never any doubt in my mind, that Kamila Valieva was the victim of severe child abuse, at the hands of her coach. The IOC and CAS really failed her, by allowing her to compete. This poor girl humiliated herself in front of the entire world, at the tender age of fifteen. Not one adult tried to protect her. She was used and abused by everyone, and now will be discarded as the embarrassment of Russia.
I feel so sorry for her for being used and discarded by the people she trusted. I also feel sorry for all the other skaters who’s hard work is overshadowed by this fiasco :(
Shame on the coaches for making her feel so badly instead of comforting her. Shame on ALL the adults for allowing her to take the drugs or perhaps even giving them to her. She's a child! They should all be banned from sports.
Yeah, the Russian female coach was known for being a real b**** if you know what I mean. The only thing she cared about was pushing these young kids to the limit so they could win medals for Russia. There was no comfort forthcoming for ANY of those skaters.. It's called child abuse.
@@fartmonkey7896 Maybe because the pressure of the brainwashers like CNN got to her?? How would you react to having the weight of the world on your soldiers at 15 while the proof and investigation are not clear and fully done yet??
@@meself349 Eteri is a great coach, it is pressure that got to the whole team, she was SHOCKED how Valieva skated as most likely she has never skated like this in her life. If you don't know much about her, it is better not to comment at all. She is strict but she is very fair, check the video where she fall into tiers when current Olympic champion Anna Shcherbakova performed at the All Russian championship just after she had covid. She specifies in her interviews that parents always present at the training sessions and can see her training method.
I don’t know I think it’s fine for minors to compete at this high level if they are physically able to. Many of the best gymnasts are under 18 at their prime. The issue here is giving performance enhancing drugs to a minor.
It's an unfortunately consequence of going to a more technical judging system. Women aren't as easily able to consistently land quads. These russians peak at 17 max and then retire. It's a pattern. I think better would be harshly judging the technique of the jump, not the ability to perform it. Tutberidze's girls land quads, yeah... but they aren't doing them with skill.. but rather using their flexible young backs to take the brunt of the force. They also cheat the entry, but that doesn't seem to be judged badly. There's no reason to reward if the techniques you use cheat the entry. I mean, all three skaters have nothing on the perfect execution of Kaori Sakamoto's program.
As someone who skates, I've been watching Kamila's talent for years and she is just a marvel. I and many others predicted even just a few seasons ago that she would become the 2022 Olympic Gold Medalist. This has been heartbreaking on so many levels. The OGM, Anna Shcherbakova, looked lost and confused when she should have been celebrating. Also, look up Dr. Shvetsky. I think he's played a big part in this with Eteri & company
Could she have made the choice to fail? I ask because if she didn’t know about the dope and found out like we all did… Maybe this was her way of retaliating…? I’m just trying to understand.
@@1Storm6 I think we all are. There's just so many questions, and I sincerely hope they will actually investigate Sambo-70 (the skating rink in Moscow) where they all train so this doesn't ever happen again.
Pretty sure with how backwards Russian and Chinese in power think. They probably made her fail since she doesnt have free will under Russia for being in a spot to represent their country to try to guilt trip the West and the Olympics

Many of these sports are abusive to athletes. No matter the country. US Gymnastics is abusive. The Russian Federation's gymnastics and skating are certainly abusive. It's how they operate. But on top of that, the Russians pumped these young girls up with all kinds of drugs. And then if they don't meet expectations, they're left alone to face the failure. It's truly horrible the way they treat these poor kids.
@@petedavis7970 - Kamila Valieva’s free skate was the cry for help, of an abused teenage girl. The world watched as Russia sacrificed a teenager, in the egotistical desire for an Olympic gold. The IOC and CAS should have protected her, but instead turned a blind eye towards blatant child abuse. Russia did not deserve the benefit of the doubt, because they took advantage of a loophole that classifies minors as “protected persons”.
This debacle was horrible but 100% predictable. When the IOC rules are not strictly enforced, chaos happens immediately, every time, like clockwork. It's not complicated.
So you are "rule based" not law based. What bout the ruling of The Court of Arbitration for Sport? It is the highest legal body to determine her qualification.
@@shawnhennity1769 - If Kamila Valieva commits suicide, in the next few years, CAS is partially responsible. This girl was abused by every adult in her life, and CAS turned a blind eye.
Why not Blame herself? the other two women tested negative ( same coach). Means it could have been her desire to win the gold and being the best. What about her family? Could have been her parents forcing her to be the best and her best is not enough and that lead her taking some drugs.
I agree with the IOC in that she is a child, but if she cannot be held to the same degree of accountability as adults, then she shouldn't be competing with adults. To see her just crushed by the judgement and reduced to ice shavings breaks my heart. Shame on the adults who brought this on her. She's a lovely talent who should have had the chance to compete clean and bring the athletic community to its knees. It's just so unfair, for all the athletes training with this cloud of uncertainty looming over them the last week, and ultimately this great talent. I hope she can find joy, come back, and realize that many hate the adults responsible for this and what she was subjected to, not her.
And what about the mental health of those CLEAN athletes that were impacted by this decision to allow her to skate. She should have been out, and the Russian team should not receive the gold medal either. SHAME RUSSIA!
If allowed to skate it just shows these craven adults that you can dope children without repercussion. Ensuring it happens even more to the youngest athletes.

I saw her other performances and they were otherworldly! She has so much talent and skill. Its absolutely obvious that this performance she was dealing with emotions that distracted her mind from her skating. She deserves the gold for her other performances alone.
Do we know when she performed in other skating events she was not assisted with the same drug? This is why she will forever be marked by this incident.
She wasn't distracted. She was TOLD to fall during that final event. A skater with such incredible balance and skill and she falls all of a sudden four times in one event???? REALLY? The Olympic committee had already stipulated that because of the doping allegations against her that if she got the gold, neither she nor ANY OTHER Russian skaters in the top three they would be able to receive awards publicly on the podium afterwards. Do you think the Russians were going to settle for that? Obviously not. So they told her to fall on purpose multiple times so she wouldn't get the gold which she otherwise would have gotten. So the other winning Russian skaters would get their awards on the podium. For the whole world to see. It's called child abuse. The team doctor also doped this girl. He had already been caught doing it in the past. It was all dirty. The Russian coach didn't care about her either. The Russians are all about winning. Coach was a slave driver, driving this poor young girl like an animal.
Children should not be part of the Olympic Games for adults. Even adults have problems dealing with the stress of competing with their peers, why letting children exposed to this level of stress in the complicated adult world they don’t comprehend? It’s incomprehensible that IOC wants children under 18 to participate in adult sports event. If they are doing it for profit, shame on them.

There wont be a Youth Summer Olympics this year because Covid, but there will be one in 2026 in Dakar, and a 2024 Youth Winter Olympics will be held in Korea. minimum age 14 maximum 17. (You can turn 18 during the year of the games, but not before.) I competed at the 2020 Youth Winter Olympics (In January before shit hit the fan) and I had the option to try qualify for these winter olympics, I could choose between staying in the junior category [while im still young enough], with less pressure, and more training, or move up to the senior category and try qualify. I chose to stay junior. Thank god I did, I have many friends in the senior category and watching them fall apart, friendships get destroyed, their mental health collapse from the stress of qualification, it was horrifying. I don't know if I will try to go to 2026. And I am from a tiny sport and an even tinier country, no one expects anything of me. I cannot possibly fathom being in a sport where the entire world is watching, and a nation that everyone expects to do well in.
I think this has become exploitive especially in women’s gymnastics and ice skating. Teams from countries that tend to have curvier bodies have a disadvantage when spinning jumps are the most important point winners. It seems the gymnastics team made some progress.
Mental pressures such as mental stress and anxiety can affect both physical, mental and emotion of any athlete no matter how trained such athelete are! The Russian sweet and definitely a champion in her own right is no exception. This fifteen years old Kamila Valieva is in the "investigative spotlight!" So, one can easily imagine the heavy toll of stresses around happening to this prodigious Russia figure skating champion! The effect is clearly seen in Valieva's performance. My heart goes to this beleaguered Russian gifted figure ice skating. She has nothing to be ashamed of! She is a champion with notable record to be proud of!🤗❤💕🇷🇺⛸️
Coach Rafael Arutyunyan made a comment a few years ago about these young girls being treated like disposable coffee cups. Spot on. The IOC took a stand against South Africa in the past and banned athletes from that country from competing in the Olympics because of apartheid. It is time for the IOC to get a backbone and do this again. I feel for Kamila, as we may not see her in an Olympics again because the next crop of children are waiting in the wings to take her place, which is why we no longer see Alina or Evgenia competing. There is so much an older, more mature skater can offer figure skating because of their experiences, but it's being swallowed up more and more as time goes on. It doesn't have to be all about the quads.
You are right. Nobody talks about the technique the Russian girls are taught to perform the quad jumps. They basically do not take off on their toe pick as they are moving forward. When you do that, your back it straight But, you MUST complete all four rotations in the air if you do it that way. All adult skaters do it that way. It's much harder and that is why you don't see them do five quads in one program. The younger girls are taught by their Russian coach to do something different. It's a technique that only a smaller lighter weight body can perform. However, it destroys your back, and you retire young, with injuries, and nobody talks about you ever again, while the newest 15 year old is putting five quads in her program, only to destroy her back and retire young to be replaced yet again. They don't take off until they are already rotating, meaning they don't actually rotate four times in the air as an adult does. It's technically allowed. So, they start their first rotation, kick before they complete the rotation. But since they are already rotating, the top of their body is spinning faster than their body as they use the pick to lift up. This is what causes their eventual back injuries, as you can only do this so many times before you have damaged your back. It's a way of allowing them to technically complete a "quad", without having to do a true quad, but it damages the spine. The Russians don't care about the skater, they just want the medals. The skaters are all throw-away.
I think about how Simone Biles was able to make a really hard but good decision for herself, and how well she is doing now. And, that she had to fight her way to the top in the corrupt, abusive US gymnastics training system. She was older had had more emotional support.
There’s an enormous of pressure heaped onto these world class athletes, we’ve seen it with professional tennis stars who have given notice to the global pressure placed onto them, some of our own gymnastic stars have felt the pressure as well at past Olympics, People like Michael Phelps have talked about it, so this to me is something that goes with dealing with those psychological issues and how they greatly influence physical issues, in my humble opinion, of course maturity of mind and body are not always in sync
What are you waffling on about these athletes get paid a lot of money, they make a choice to do it, tennis players get paid millions of dollars so they put pressure on themselves to win, make no mistake they choose their life so please dont try make out their hard done by they all know the do's and donts and whats legal, 15 or 30 she will always be known as a drug cheat

I wish her the best ! It’s so sad what they did to her !
She doesn't have the talent if it's due to drugs, though. There's a reason none of these skaters will return for 2026. Kamila MIGHT return as she will be 19, but the other two are now too old and are disposable to Eteri (her coach). Only girls who haven't finished puberty and have been subjected to harsh training can do those spins. It's really not just about the drug for Kamila though. It really calls into question ALL three of the top Russian skaters. Given that her COACH is the one responsible for administering the drug, it's really brings into question the training regime.
Olympics management pressure and fear placed on Kamila took her confidence away and that made her fall in performance. Still, she is best skater in the world today to me and most people the world watching Olympics and the real gold medalist in 2022 Olympics figure skating. I mean wow, the elegance, grace, difficulties, dance moves, almost perfect.
We don’t know if she is the best skater because she was taking performance drugs and now since she didn’t have them maybe this is her true talent mediocre
I think this brave awesome skater threw her chance away intentially, so that the other Russian skaters could get their medals, what a brave brave girl 👏👏👏

You blame Russia? What for? Why all Roussian (it's correct) people are guilty for this? Firstly, prove that it was doping, that she wanted to use it. Do you remember American sportsmen that were dopingists? A lot! Some of them were not guilty according to court's decision.
Chrstinne Brennan is the worst kind of journalist. She's always thrown mud at Russian athletes. She helped destroy this 15 year girl, and now she is using her as a tool to destroy the coaching staff. Maybe she can explain how a heart drug (that has questionable performance enhancement) can end up in a 15 year old 2 months before the olympics and help her win a gold medal.
The problem is allowing children to take part in the first place. Figure skating scoring leans way too heavy on jumps and the most valuable jumps are almost impossible for girls over the age of 18. That's why you always see under 18's making the big jumps. And what kind of a meat grinder has the little girl go through in order to reach that level... Figure skating should get their shit together. Huge majority of top figure skaters quit after the age of 21. They can't compete as they lack the light frame of a teenager. Muscles are too well developed. Too heavy... And of course, some have their psyches broken by the impossible demands of their coaches... Her coach is a monster too. Every girl she has coached has quit their careers after the age of 21. A huge track record of breaking teenage girls apart.. Silver medalist, Trusova will be the next one to leave figure skating because of its toxic culture.
It's the best outcome honestly for everyone in current state. The stress is not just on Valieva but on all the skaters, especially her 2 teammates - to the point where Trusova had an outburst live on camera. She said what all of us have been saying. It's not just Valieva that was likely mistreated behind closed door in her training.
You can see the interview with Eteri Tutberidze before the Olympics. And everything will become clear to you. Don't believe Western media if you want to know the truth. She said that Anna Shcherbakova has the strongest character. Camila has everything for a figure skater. But most of all she was worried about Sasha Trusova. Eteri Tutberidze said that he really wants Sasha Trusova's dream to come true (to make five quarters at the Olympics). And she said one phrase prophetic. "All three girls are worthy of Olympic gold, but there is only one gold medal." You should have looked at the eyes of Eteri Tutberidze, they were waiting for a tragedy for themselves and for the two losing students. Sorry for my bad english.
What about all the other Russian skaters who go through the same child abuse starting at about age 3. Doping or not, these children all suffer from abuse on their rise to the top. Why only sympathy for this particular child? I love how people draw the line at doping as child abuse.

Sometimes the parents turn their children over to the coaches and thinking the coaches are stand in parents and let them have responsibility over their children. Her coach is now being investigated.
Cristina, thank you for giving some compassion to Kamila. Seems that the media (Tara and Jonnie ) will not take any blame for this debacle. When people have a platform, they did to be careful about the ultimate harm that is done with negative words. Five days ago, they are saying she is the greatest skater that ever lived, now today they threw her under the bus.
Her coach threw her under the bus. She only wanted a sweep of the medals... and knew that at least one of her doped little girls would ascend to the top. Part of me is unsure whether the coach tried to make her fail (as the fallout would be less focused on her) or if she didn't care. Either way, Eteri could not lose this one (short term) but hopefully long-term something can be done. It would APPEAR that at least the judges gave Anna higher scores for her artistic performance, making the difference, which made little Trusova (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ as Trusova put out a massive number of quads.
I don’t think that you can compare the two. This is Far worse!!!! Not that Simone wasn’t going through her own issues! I hope she makes it through the rain!!! I hope they both do!
It takes so much courage to be in the Olympics and she’s still a child. I hope this doesn’t break her. The people who were supposed to be her support, were her downfall. It is not fair to her at all.
Christine, you said it was "heartbreaking"? You were part of the abuse; you got into her head just as you intended. God have mercy on your wicked soul.
She's essentially a child and her team let her down & set her up for failure. She should have never competed in the Olympic games when she was tested positive for a banned substance. Everything about this is rotten. We all know how bad Russian athletics is when it comes to doping but the IOC should have banned her from competing.
These commentator are narcissistic. You abuse a 15yr old all week and when she crumbles under pressure you come out and pretend you care about her? Trusova was crying because she felt cheated by the IOC after landing 5quads not because of anything else. Report facts not propaganda. Utter rubbish.
Right to the point. When she was winning everybody threw trash on her blaming on doping abuse . When she lost, all of a sudden they started feeling bad for her and directed their anger to her coach. The reason of these girls winning all medals on all competitions was hard work, more work than other athletes do. Trusova lost her gold medal because of political view of judge from Netherlands whose score was low for 10 points from highest point she got.
The heartbreaking thing is that she was allowed to compete. We stopped watching this year when we heard about the ruling. It is clearly more about the money than it is about the fair competition at this point. Disgusting.
1) that the probe was NOT from olympics but from 6 of months ago; probe from olympics was ok 2) that they didn’t gave her free pass, just delayed hearings, she still can be stripped from her medals and banned if found guilty later on 3) that there were plenty of other athletes in the similar situation, cleared from doping allegations despite having banned substances in their bloodstream, for example Laurence Vincent Lapointe
In 2019, Laurence Vincent Lapointe tested positive for traces of ligandrol. The top athlete denied knowingly taking a forbidden substance that resulted in her suspension from competition. In January 2020, the ICF accepted Lapointe’s evidence which supported that she was the victim of third-party contamination of bodily fluids from her former boyfriend, a former athlete who took the substance, and cleared her retroactively of all charges to return to training and competition.
I feel sorry Kamila was treated like that. Relying on the probe taken from 25th of DECEMBER seems to be ridiculous. There’s been plenty of time to handle the situation accordingly. But it was ‘coincidentally’ worked out the way it is now. Something should’ve been done different and I’m pretty sure it’s all about politics. Not to be cynical but it seems a bit suspect that this skater has had nearly flawless performances going into the Olympics. After the doping issue the Olympic committee decided that she could skate but there would be no medal ceremony if she placed in the top 3. So suddenly she has a very bad performance on the free skate leaving 2 of her teammates in 1st and 2nd. So now they have the medal ceremony and the Russians walk away with the Gold and Silver. I would not be surprised if the Russian coach had something to do with 'encouraging' her performance so that there would be a medal ceremony and the Russians would not go home empty handed.
A few days ago. Americans: It's unfair that she gets to compete! We hope she loses. After she finished 4th. Also Americans: We feel bad for her now. Shame on the IOC and Russia for doing this to her. How many faces can we have? (I'm American) Our media is probably so proud of themselves playing the "we feel bad" card
It is wrong that she was competing, because she was fabulous with that performance enhancing drug, but unable to do olympic quality skating without it. And what long term harm was it potentially doing to her heart? And what about her soul? At her age, she doesn't have the maturity to deal with the blowback of what her nation did to her.
All her tests before and after are absolutely clean, including at the Olympics. It remains a mystery why the sample passed in December and which should come in a maximum of 20 days came only after the victory of the Russian team, and not before the Olympics, for example. The media did not have the right to disseminate this information before the investigation, since she is a minor. I admire the Western media that were not afraid to defend freedom of speech, consisting of adult men, like a pack of dogs, chasing a fifteen-year-old girl for an interview.
I do agree it is heartbreaking that this happened to a 15 year old girl but I think a lot of people are not focusing on the most important thing. I think that people should be congratulating and focusing on the other clean skaters who are not getting to enjoy their olympic experience due to this incident. If you are going to let someone compete with a positive drug test just because she is young is unfair to other skaters. It is completely ignoring the 4 years of effort that other athletes put into this. Also if you are an athlete competing in the olympics rules are meant to be rules. If you are being scored the same as other athletes you should also be following the same rules. Valieva should not have been able to compete. Also all Russian skaters should be tested (the same as the Brazil women’s volleyball team getting tested in Tokyo because one of the athletes had a positive doping test) and the Russian coaches and adults who were in charge of this need to be punished, letting people know this is abuse and unacceptable in anyway.
Abuse was from IOC, ISU, WADA and American Olympic committee. They destroyed the mental health and psychological health of this young 15 yo sportswoman. And this is the truth right now. The investigation will answer us about guiltiness (or non guilty) of Kamila...
This just makes me double down on why she shouldn't have been able to compete. Not only because of the test but it's down right abuse. Her so called coaches are DESPICABLE.
Keep it up, Kamila.. still young and still more chance to win your gold… accident and mistake can happen anytime to anyone.. Much love from MICHIGAN, USA..
This is why so many skaters, coaches and officials from a time when our sport was beautiful and joyful to watch have been disgusted to the point of just leaving the sport. And, if not leaving altogether, at least have distanced themselves from skating. Scott Hamilton, Kris Yamaguchi, and Peggy Fleming are rarely seen anymore and have expressed their disappointment in what the ‘powers that be’ have done to skating. Dick Button even wrote a best selling book about it. Check it out, “ Push Dick’s Button”. Skating today is nothing but a political, back stabbing war using children as pawns in issues they are too young to understand. If left to the young, wonderfully talented and supremely dedicated athletes and the amazing coaches that actually care about and train safely the skaters in their care our sport would be once again beautiful and unique. Remember the days of Peggy Fleming, Janet Lynn, Dorothy Hamill, Sergei Grinkov and Katia Gordeeva??? I miss those days. STOP with the triple, quad count fest and who represents who and just get back to pure skating. The only “sport” that is actually an art form….. or used to be. 😞
No 15 year-old elite, Olympian level athlete --- whatever sport they are into --- should be near drugs as common as Tylenol. How is this extraordinary figure skater --- touted by friends and foes alike, as probably the most extraordinary skater, up to this point in the history of women figure skating --- having THREE known molecular compounds, ONE OUT RIGHT a BANNED substance (& one of the other two being considered for banning), in her system, on the eve of the Olympics? And the LAME argument that she could have gotten the TMZ into her system by drinking from cups or glasses her grandfather had used? How idiotic is that? If OTCs like Tylenol have good gel coating, why not a very potent, prescribed heart drug like Trimetazidine not having gel coating, so that it'd only dissolve in the intestine? If that is not child abuse from her coaches, doctors, parents, and the Russian sports authority, what is child abuse? Poor kid ... a 15 year-old.... shouldn't have bear this kind of humiliation on the world's stage... It behooves those pro Russian fans: Russians are competing as ROC folks, not Russians who carry proudly their flag who get to hear their national anthem, when they win. DUE TO DRUGS. And now, more drugged up athletes? That's too many consecutive Olympics where Russians are testing positive AND BEING ALLOWED to compete. The American woman who smoked WEED --- not a performance drug, for a sprinter, as weed tens to relax the muscles and make people sleepy --- got kicked out way before she got to the Olympics, last year, during the Summer games.
I don't know what planet your from... but here on Earth... figure skating is the DEFINITION OF CHEATING AND SCANDALS... you might like to adjust your glasses and fix your hearing from whichever alternate universe your from where it rains rose pedals and figure skaters dont... try to murder... break each others legs... take a stupid amount of steroids.. and don't even get me started on the judges... thats an entire rant devoted for... let's come back on 4 years when the next figure skating scandal happens.
Do you think she deliberately tanked her performance? The IOC said there would be no medal ceremony if she won. The ROC may have instructed her to take make mistakes in order to ‘save” the ROC so they can made the podium. She was perfect coming into the final skate, now she is falling on simple jumps🧐🧐🧐
I wish the best for her. I'm only getting into this sport and clearly could see she is the best world class skater. I hope she returns on the world stage victorious and over comes this. Shes only 15 and can.
unfortunately Eteri's students have an expiration date of two years at a senior level. You are only getting into skating and there's a huge back story. Too much for me to post. but Eteri's students are referred to as disposable plastic bottles. This is due to cruel and unethical training including but not limited to, puberty suppression medication, training on major injuries, plus mental abuse which included putting one skater in a trash can due to a bad practice session. Plus, she teaches bad technique which no longer works for a skater once their body matures. Kamila is essentially done unless she switches coaches. But if she is given a suspension for doping, she will likely not come back. Eteri collects an outrageous 40% of her skaters winnings and endorsements. Eteri builds them up, gets the medals and money and then destroys them in a 3 year period. One year in juniors and two in seniors. Kamila will not likely get to her second year in seniors. You should subscribe to the Skating Lesson on RUclips and listen to some of the interviews and podcasts and you will get a better understanding of who Eteri is and it will also build your history and understanding of the sport.
Ultimately the blame for all of this goes straight to the IOC. Instead the IOC is strangely silent about this whole mess. It's sad that Kamila and all the other athletes have to put up with this BS.
IOC tried to ban her. They are guilty of closing their eyes to the issues in camp eteri, but it is Russia and Kamila's coaches who insisted on her competing in spite of the doping.
This whole saga should have been kept out of the media until it was properly resolved, I hope you are all happy with the destruction of a young girl who has yet to be proven guilty of any wrong doing. She might never recover from this trauma.
This is been happening for years!! I remember back in the 1980's the doping & abuse of young athletes. Recently we've learned about sexual abuse of both young men & women. It's time to stop being shocked & to make real changes in sports.
On February 14, 2022, the CAS sports court rejected the appeals of the IOC, WADA and ISU and allowed Kamila Valieva to compete at the 2022 Olympics[22]. However, the investigation of this case is not completed and will continue after the Olympic Games. The CAS Court, in its decision on the admission of Valieva, pointed to a violation of the WADA Code by the WADA laboratory regarding the 20-day deadline for submitting doping test results. In this regard, Valieva was deprived of the opportunity to prepare data in her defense. The Court also took into account the absence of a positive test sample during the Olympics itself and the fact that Valieva is a minor and therefore belongs to “protected persons”.
"Protected persons" - from whom? From what? And how did they try and protect her? No one has said this was a false positive. It seems this very young person was not protected in any way by the CAS, RUSADA the Russian Federation or any of the adults around her. No one thought it might be in her best interest to protect her undeniable talent and save her for the next Olympic cycle (even if her predecessors from the same coach have never lasted for more than one Olympic cycle). Immensely sad. I hope the Russians will treat her kindly, and not as disposable and on to the next.
All of this is known. As is the fact that Russia did not mark that sample high priority, as they should have and would have gotten it processed more quickly.
@@dannycarlow8204 Russia has been well known to condition their Olympic athletes and coerce them. No way in hell she was knowingly taking those drugs without their knowing. Only question was, was it involuntary and they told her it was vitamins or some shit, it was voluntary but not really if she wanted to remain on the team, or was it voluntary because they told her it was gonna help her be the best and she wanted that? So yeah, she's the victim.
@@TheLastLineLive If all of a sudden I magically was able to run flat out for a much longer time than I have ever been able to I would definitely notice. She had to know she was suddenly able to do things she previously couldn't. Whether she knew she was actually taking them is disputable until we know the facts. A reasonable person would believe that she definitely knew something was different within her body. With Russia's history that she absolutely knew, she had to have an idea of what was going on at the very least. Just because she is 15 doesn't make her immune to the punishment of cheating. Of course this is child abuse but her abuse started a long time before this whole deal. I bet if this never happened and she was perfect and won, the child abuse she was the victim of would never have crossed your mind. Her and her teammates have been victims since approximately age 3 when they are chosen for potential greatness. This is how it works there. These athletes are just a commodity to them.
My teenage daughter would crumble under the pressure this girl was put though. That she still managed to come in on 4th place is a tribute to her! Only tragic thisng is how media covered it.
CAS had a chance to do what was necessary to protect her from her entourage and perhaps from herself, but they blew it. CAS spoke of irreparable harm in the other scenario where she would have been denied the right to compete. But what about irreparable harm caused by that decision to let her go forward now? You got smacked! Everyone lost!
Shows how much CAS cared about the physical and mental health of a child. Every adult that led to this moment, needs to be held accountable. They destroyed this girl’s life, for their perverse amusement.
@@ChienaAvtzon The CAS decision gave Kamila a chance to skate. Unlike the media and social media slicing and dicing of the kid their decision at least considered that there could very well be a problem with with the Dec 25 test. The delay is suspicious to me. If anyone followed the Sharapova case (and one of the CAS judges was also involved in Maria's appeal) the final verdict very much sided with the athlete not WADA.
This is precisely why I don't like sports where children 15, 16 or 17 years old are crowned the greatest in the world. How the hell can a 15, 16 or 17 year old claim to be the greatest athlete in ANY sport and then by the time they are 21 they are considered to old? This is the culture Russia and China have been using for the past 40 years. Nothing have changed and nothing will change.
well, everyone blames each other, but no one is thinking about her.True talents does not have nationalities,we should appreciate them, they give us joy and motivation to be better,to do impossible. This girl is Tizian of ice skating. What she does is an art!
Thanks for bringing this. My thoughts exactly. I haven't watched her latest program. I knew she would not be able to perform under the strain she has been put under. She's only 15 yrs. old. Please stop putting so much stress on her. I am more worried about her wellbeing. Whatever drugs were in her system were most likely given to her by someone. You should be blaming her coaching staff. Also who was supposed to be checking the drug testing ahead of time? How was it she passed when they didn't even have a drug test to confirm? I see others here more to blame for what happened. I feel so badly for what she is going through. The greatest skater ever and she is being mentally and possibly physically destroyed. My heart goes out to her.
@Annie497 - Kamila Valieva should not be sent back to Russia. She is a child who has been abused and exploited by every adult in her life. Russia, Eteri Tutberidze, and even her own parents sacrificed her in front of the entire world. The IOC and CAS should have protected her, but turned a blind eye to blatant child abuse. It is obvious Kamila Valieva’s free skate was the cry for help of an abused teenage girl, who just learned how disposable her talents were to Russia.
Few who are even remotely knowledgable blame her @Maybe1000. The blame is 100% on her coaching staff... it's all on Tutberidze and the little girl skating stable she's developed.
@@TheNewGreenIsBlue - The problem is that NBC, specifically Johnny and Tara, considered Kamila Valieva to be a cheater. Instead of putting the blame solely on the adults who should have been taking care of her. Johnny Weir, in particular, is a sycophant of Eteri Tutberidze.
@@ChienaAvtzon Well, like most things... the truth is somewhere in between. We really don't know if Kamila accepted it (maybe being told that it was the only way to win and that it would be untraceable) MUCH of the blame (at least legally) falls on the adults, particularly her parents who ultimately are the ones responsible for her well-being and put her in the situation in the first place. The question is... what would YOU do to fix the problem in THIS case? Sure Tutberidze treats skaters as disposable and that's despicable and she got got with her pants down, so to speak, in this case...
@@TheNewGreenIsBlue - What would I do to prevent this from happening to another innocent girl? I would ban Eteri Tutberidze from coaching and entering skaters in international competitions. Plus, the minimum age limit for Senior level must be raised to 17. While 18, and a year of international competition, is the minimum for figure skating at the Olympics.
So heartbreaking. I never knew of her until I first saw her performance with the red glove sleeves. She was exemplary to watch, so I started following her. I blame her coaches and the adults around her. She’s only 15 for goodness sake. I’m not about to believe she was in on some plot.. just a child. I hope she can pull herself together, and I hope she has all the support possible from her loved one’s.

By that time, Kami was hoping not losing the opportunity for 2022 world championships. But a few days later, the Russia-Ukraine conflicts exploded and Russian athletes were banned from international competitions.
What do you mean 'unexpected'? If she won, her teammates wouldn't get their medals. What she did was noble, because she sacrificed herself. She still is the best.
I see these GIRLS, not WOMEN but MINORS as victims of abuse. It's so sad and I hope changes are made 😞 Shame on all the adults involved who should be protecting them, not exploiting them.

why are you shaming Russia? ISU has made a decision to bully her and bring up these stupid doping allegations which she took 2 months prior to the participation. There is just so much hate in the women's voice towards Russia that I truly believe she doesn't feel sorry for Kamila but wants to use the opportunity to shame the country.
Thanks to all of you media reporters for making it happen. Talking non stop how Kamila should be off the games, calling her cheater.... Shame on you, hope you satisfied.
I am so sorry for her being placed in a situation like this. That girl is one of the best skaters I have ever seen in a lifetime. I don't think it was her falling all over the place was due to her nervousness. It was the Russian Government telling her to do so!!
I felt bad for her. She's only 15 and decisions beyond her age caused her more stress than most adults could handle. I hope she's back and stronger next Olympics.
Sad thing is, she most likely won’t be back. Her coach’s students have a history of a short lifespan of skating. They just cycle them in and then out. I feel horrible for her!
@@ChienaAvtzon I’m honestly terrified for her when they get back home. According to reporters, the coaches were criticizing her rather than being supportive. I’m not really surprised by that, but I’m still terrified for her. I just hope and pray that this coach is shut down soon!
@@ChienaAvtzon I whole heartedly agree. She needs to not be around this coaching staff. She needs serious mental health help! I’m also worried about how her parents will treat her if she goes back home.
My opinion only but I watched her skate on Monday and she was amazing. All the talk about her winning the gold seemed like she was going to get it. But then the "no medals" would be presented if she won or placed in any of the 3 medals and instead would be given an asterisk next to the name until the IOC could complete its investigation. It seemed to me she was told to take a fall for the sake of the other 2 Russian skaters.
So sorry for this to happen to this teen. Wish she could have said No to medication. She should Not have been allowed to skate because she failed drug test.

In another video on this subject by CNN, I said that with the whole world now looking at her and calling her a cheater would mess with this child's head. Imagine getting to go to compete at the Olympics as a 15 year old child, she was undoubtedly feeling on top of the world as any athlete would. When it comes to children the thing is that they are still developing and forming their world views. We give kids understanding, compassion and empathy so that they will one day hopefully do the same. Unfortunately for some reason people have forgotten that everything you do and say to a growing child has a lasting effect. They build off the blocks others provide them. And if those blocks are calling a child a cheater, going after a 15 year old like she deliberately sought-after the "cocktail" of substances in her system. 2 of which are not prohibited and the banned substance was to increase heart endurance and stamina. It seems to me like her "team" snuck this in without her knowledge. As a child we do what adults tell us often times even if they know it's wrong they do it because that's how everyone is brought up. You do what your told until your able to be on your own.
@@AO-bl7cc She lives in a totalitarian country that doesn’t ask but force their citizens to do things. You really think this child had a say in anything? She was forced and pressured. He
Same happen in gymnastics, so strictly rules, they forced and don't care about the human side, and don't forget those sports begin at early ages. They don't care about lesions or protect childhood, they only care about medals., and the glory of Olympics!!
One does not need to force the drugs down her throat to be responsible for her being given a banned substance. Simply having a glass of water with the substance in it un attended is what led to this.
What about restricting women's figure skating and women's gymnastics to actual women instead of allowing teenage girls to compete? Same for the men. Maybe add a Junior Olympics?
I was thinking the same about a dive, but who called the dive is the question. It's starting to sound like the coaches were upset, so maybe she took the dive on her own to help her friends get their medal, go on stage, and allow for the controversy to begin to fade; which it wouldn't have as easily if Valieva got on the podium.
It's the clean lines, the fluidity of her transitions, the way she uses her hands like she's conducting a symphony. Her positions. Even when she isn't landing her jumps, she's stunning. The things that make such a beautiful skater can't be manufactured by PEDs. That's the biggest tragedy for me.
Kamila is such a beautiful skater and my heart breaks for her. To be abused by those who she should be trusting is too horrible. So what have they (her team) gained by breaking this athlete's spirit in front of the whole world by allowing her to skate, when in fact they may have been the ones that administered the so-called cocktail!! Outrageous! Most likely at 15 she had no clue what was going on but following orders! Well, it looks like CNN got this wrong as did NBC. Trusovo had a meltdown, not because she was crying for Valiyeva's mishaps, but because she thought she should have won the gold for nailing five quads in her program compared to Scherbakova's two. In regards to the so-called Valiyeva scandal, I think we need more details until we can make an informed evaluation of the situation.

that confirms my suspicion, that she performed bad on purpose, to save the other girls!
Never at one point did I blame this poor kid through this ordeal. These kids are brainwashed from a very young age and have little to no control over what they are told to put in their bodies. Yes. Her and the other athletes who should've only had to worry about themselves and competing in a clean competition.
There was never any doubt in my mind, that Kamila Valieva was the victim of severe child abuse, at the hands of her coach. The IOC and CAS really failed her, by allowing her to compete. Absolutely. Her age was part of the reason they gave her special treatment.

Who gives a 💩.
I hadn't heard that comment by Rafael Arutyunyan but very true.
The skaters are all throw-away.
why did they ban south africa because of apartheid? what does that have to do with figure skating?
The older athletes can do the 'tricks' the young teens can do
I think about how Simone Biles was able to make a really hard but good decision for herself, and how well she is doing now. And, that she had to fight her way to the top in the corrupt, abusive US gymnastics training system. She was older had had more emotional support.

At the end of the day the responsibility lies with her.
Where are her parents? Do they not hold some responsibility?
Sometimes the parents turn their children over to the coaches and thinking the coaches are stand in parents and let them have responsibility over their children. Her coach is now being investigated.
Katharina Witt cried on german TV about Kamila and what they had done to her. Shame on all who did that to that child!
They threw her under the bus because she was caught cheating.

Now I know someone is truthful about all what happened. They sympathize in the open but they grinned in secret.
They were all silent up to the point she won the gold medal. Too suspicious

I would not be surprised if the Russian coach had something to do with 'encouraging' her performance so that there would be a medal ceremony and the Russians would not go home empty handed.
she skated almost perfectly during the team even at Olympics so she clearly wasn't on doping during other competitions.
Add to this, this outcome being an attempt to fan the flames of the whole situation in front of The rest of the world.

After she finished 4th.
Also Americans: We feel bad for her now. Shame on the IOC and Russia for doing this to her.
How many faces can we have?
(I'm American)
Our media is probably so proud of themselves playing the "we feel bad" card
😂
What....she shouldn't have competed period...indigenous American here.
US better buy Kamilia before China do for the next Olympic.

@Annie497 - Do Yulia, Evgenia, and Alina come to mind? They are all crippled.
Well put‼️

unfortunately Eteri's students have an expiration date of two years at a senior level.

Wow. Will CNN cover this?

"Protected persons" - from whom? From what? And how did they try and protect her? No one has said this was a false positive.

I don’t know all the details of the doping scandal but you don’t need drugs to be the best skater - you already are the best just by yourself. You don’t need critics or the world to tell you you’re the best skater - the world has already seen it. Keep moving forward. I can’t even imagine all the amazing things we will see from you. :)
Can we start a movement for positive feedback for Kamila? I can’t imagine the pressure she is feeling. Never let a problem to be solved be more important than a person to be loved.

Yeah, I feel for her. All this isn't something a 15 years old girl, under tremendous pressure, should be going through. Shame on her coach for not providing her comfort after her final performance.
Thanks for support. 🙏
I wouldn’t be surprised if she was told to throw it to outweigh the whole controversy and so that the other athletes could actually medal. Either that or the pressure. Just a thought, wouldn’t be surprised if it was true
