So I have some issues; in terms of this post, in particular, you saying that the new strange would be after the Second dream makes very little sense. The current star chart progression (as far as story progressing quests are concerned) actually makes perfect sense. We wake from our warframe's cryosleep and go on to discover that the infestation (which, to the best of my lore knowledge, we played a large part in containing during the Orokin era) was being experimented with and has gone out of control (as it does). After containing the direct threat we become aware of the Fomorians and the threat they pose and then obtain our first Archwing to use to handle the new threat. After this, we have Stolen Dreams, where we first become aware of the 'arcane machine' and its message albeit in a broken form. Then in the New Strange we stumble back upon the arcane machine's message in relation to something (as it turns out, a warframe being controlled by an unknown individual, possibly an acolyte of the stalker attempting to specifically wake the Sentient so that the stalker can use them to help him destroy the Tenno he so hates once and for all) and the complete version of the message ends up being broadcast, a rousing call to the Sentients; "All is silent and calm, hushed and empty is the womb of the sky." A call the Lotus would have used to signal the true end of the old war to the sentients after she destroyed the Tenno (had she completed the final sequence). After this, the Sentient fragments begin to awaken in response to the call and we discover this fact in Natah as Hunhow's fragments (And Hunhow himself, accidentally awoken and almost released by Tyl Regor) are awakening and scanning the current structures and entities on the planets in the solar system. After this, we have the second dream and the war within as the only truly 'main story' related quests remaining. the other quests do rather make sense where they fall in the star chart, you just have to look at them as what they are, quests that look back at Tenno and the warframes that they used that lived long ago and may have died during or after the Old War.
Alad V is such an awesome character! kind of mad scientist type.. always up to something funky and keeps coming back every time with another crazy idea. who could blame him for trying to kill you a few times, or dissecting a couple of tennos? hes a cool guy.
Pivke Mrzli i wish we'd learn more about the Dr. i cant remember his name atm but it was him who birthed the grustrag 3. in an early pc event there was some talk about him but not to much.
Agreed. And most AAA movies too. This could be a crazy movie saga. The fact that the game is still alive and kicking, bringing more stuff to the lore, may bring to that oportunity someday.
It took like 8 years for it to come to fruition, but yeah. Everything behind a second dream and the war within was all told to you through codex entries that you recieve through scanning things.
This makes this the 7th time I've seen this video. I finally understand everything in it and I'm so happy this video is a thing. Makes the new beginning cinematic more deep or emotional than what it is imo. I didn't say this the last 6 times I watched this, but gonna do it now; this video is just plainly amazing.
If you were to make quest commentaries I bet you are one of those peeps who goes "what the fuck are they talking about" right in the middle of the quest because you werent listening to the dialogue in the beginning
Samishii00 Samishii00 On PS4 we decided not to heal Alad V (Tubemen event) but then comes 2nd Dream and Alad V was healed anyway. Speaking of 2nd Dream @Stallordd in 2nd Dream Quest and Natah, Hunhow seems to know of the distinctions between Grineer, Corpus, and Orokin and yet still calls Alad V an Orokin. (Also Alad V seems to remember from experience the Great War, Moon being hidden/destroyed, Lotus identity etc... Like he was around at that time and not information that was simply passed on to him.) Is Alad V from the Orokin Empire? (But sided with Corpus)
Hek is dead, I'd say that is a pretty big fail. And we are rebuilding the Relays next event so who cares? Every Fomorian that comes our way now fails by itself, the % is slowly dripping away even if we don't attack it.
You know what’s sad? This video is almost 4 years old and still not particularly outdated, since yknow been like 3 years since a mainline story came out
because warframes are less valuable to eachother and more valuable to the corpus who, as you'd expect, do not have easy access to said frames. I mean, do you know how rare Mag is? Nobody plays her! So of course she'd be souper valuable to the corpus skoom.
This has to become a tv series, like Expanse. There is so much material to be used! Either tv series or a movie franchise like Star Wars. Only if it doesn't harm the game and if it's done properly, as the trend is to the movie based of any video game being quite bad.
I hope he makes an updated version of this 2019 even for 2020, because some of the more recent lore is really confusing and doesn’t really make sense. I hope you may be able to clear things up.
@@zachb1706 a large portion of Warframes lore is guessed. We know very little of what exactly went down during the fall of the Orokin Empire. Who is stalker, what’s up with the quills, what actually happened at the slaughter at the Terminus, how did the Tenno kill the Emperors, who were the emperors, the list goes on.

I thank you for explaining why certain things are as they are, as someone who was not there from the start so i missed out on some of the older alert lore. Keep up the good work !
DE doesn't do the best job of telling this lore in a way that friendly for individuals to glean. However, this is still 100 times better than what passes for either lore or story-telling from either Destiny game.
Noir tbh people like really make warframe look like a shit game lol I can understand talking shit about fortnite because its not good. But warframe and destiny are different games, destiny has better gunplay and warframe has better abilities and such.
Thank you SO MUCH for this video and the time it took to compile the information. It cleared up a lot of confusion and fleshed out so many vague threads. I had no idea the lore was *that* rich.
After just coming back to Warframe and not understanding much of the mechanincs (let alone the lore) and now enjoying the game quite a bit, this was particular useful when playing a game you enjoy very much but don't understand. Thank you for you time in making the video!
I always knew the Warframes had personalities... but I never thought of them as deriving personalities from their Tenno controllers. I think an interesting role playing aspect DE could add is to have us select a "main" Warframe that is preferred by our Tenno in-game, to kind of mimic this personality link.
@Eyes of Blight Event - Yeah, he failed in destroying ALL the Relays but a lot of them certainly are destroyed.... good times it was to be on the Relays that were destroyed, watching him boast about its destruction while an army of Tenno were dancing and having a party in the soon-to-be-destroyed Relays, lmao.
there's literally only 3 relays left on xbox edition. he might as well have destroyed leonov, but noooo, people wanted that relay even though it's a ghost town that nobody goes to unless borrow kitty is there.
I think you missed the origin of the Technocyte plague. During the old war, but likely before the Warframe project came to fruition, the Orokin created the Technocyte as a possible way to combat the Sentients. However, they could not control it, and isolated it, until it escaped and spread during the Great Plague. However, it's likely that Technocyte materials assisted in the development of the Warframes, so its creation wasn't a total loss.
Dark Sector, both for legal reasons, and because they have parts of the current lore that don't mesh with it, is entirely extra-canonical. You can have it as head-canon, but DE themselves have said that it isn't canon. Within the Warframe universe, the Orokin created the Infestation.
dark sector technocyte is more metally and shiny, warframe technocyte is just sagging masses of pus filled sacs of squishy flesh. there be differences, lad.
Fun fact, with the Plains of Eidolon, it's becoming more and more apparent that the Orokin actually used the Infestation to create huge swathes of their infrastructure. Where else would you get colossal and numerous living edifices of bone and meat? It was simply meticulously controlled to just one stable strain. I think that's, more than anything, why it was called the TECHNOcyte - not because it worked to change the properties of machines and metals and all of that, but because it was the very basis for Orokin technology. Bone towers and regenerative meat sheathes that interfaced with golden circuitry and such.
Sea Earl Punch It's also entirely possible that, being relative masters of genetic engineering and biology, that they found ways of creating such large organisms as their technology without using the Infestation. If they had such a stable strain, why even keep the unstable strains around? Besides, the walls of flesh in Cetus don't resemble Infestation at all.
Wow. I've been playing Warframe for a full year and this was very informative and compelling. Thank you for compiling this video in chronological order of the events. I wish I had started playing Warframe when I first got it in 2014... Nevertheless, Well done mate. This was a very interesting lore video indeed. Subbed.
Wow, up until the events you learn about in the second dream and the war within I had no clue about any of this. I'm not sure if this is the fault of the game for bad story delivery or the fault of me for not spending hours in the codex but I'm glad I watched this video cause the story is worth hearing.
Jvk1166z bit of both really all the lore is in the game in the codex and thru scans and such but before quests like the 2nd dream and war within n such warframe didn't do such a good job delivering it's lore straight up and easy to understand as warframe goes on it fleshed out more n more tho so that's good ^.^
What an awesome video! I love how this includes the Operations which newer players didn't get to play so they missed a lot of lore. Thank you for this, and I'll be waiting for more lore videos after the next big quests

i'm here because of the last quest. with each big update i become more and more confused. It's like Loki switches places with me with a build of 250% strenght and an ev besides him
Thank you so much for this video. One of the reasons I started playing this game was the story of how everything came to be, but it was (and somewhat is) a bit confusing. Thank you for clarifying a lot of it. Next time I make a video, I'm going to mention this for anyone interested.
So if a Tenno doesn't know they have a physical form besides a Warframe is killed, does the tenno die? Like all the warframes cut up for the zanuka project. Their tennos didn't know that wasn't their physical bodies so did it just go full matrix on them and their mind kills themselves?
Mirage, Limbo, and Valkyr are good examples that can be used to answer your question. Namely, both Mirage and Limbo died excruciatingly - in Mirage's case, her original operator perished in the Lotus' arms while they tried to surge the revive system. But she sustained too much damage - and continued to sustain damage - in a Sentient assault. Limbo was torn completely apart by a miscalculating whilst rift-walking, scattering his body parts completely across the system. Whereas Valkyr's powers were permanently warped by the intense pain and suffering she endured when Alad V and the Zanuka Project had her captured and vivisected. Let me bring this all together by mentioning: The Operator states that Transference hurts, and they can feel it whenever they go down. I'd assume that is true, even in dream-state. Basically - it doesn't matter if they aren't aware of having a physical form, they feel pain all the same, and if that pain exceeds their body's capabilities and their pod's support, they could very well die. It's also not confirmed whether the Warframes and the Tenno's version of Oro conforms to the Orokin and Sentient versions of Oro. So the statement in the video about Mirage dying because her 'Oro' was destroyed is uncertain. For clarification: Oro is like an imprint of the soul, created by exposure to the Void; currently, we have three examples/origins for Oro, two are completely artificial - these would be the Orokin and Sentient versions of Oro - while the last one is entirely natural and is held by the Tenno. As mentioned above, we don't know if there is any difference between manufactured Oro and natural Oro. I also have a pet theory that ties Oro into where all of the Warframes' powers come from, and also thereby explaining how Valkyr's powers were warped. Complete blind speculation: the Void exists as an infinite and twisted space that responds to living beings in strange (and eldritch) ways, and imprinting an exposed person's consciousness is one of those ways - this results in Oro. Uncontrolled, the Void causes complete madness in developed humans, but it caught the Zariman children in a developmental state where constant exposure wouldn't drive them utterly mad, but also leave a lasting print within the Void; their powers developed in this medium and they would never be without the Void's influence again. These lasting imprints of the children would then be honed and calmed through Transference therapy, and eventually harnessed through personally built foci - the Warframes, golems built from flesh. When a warframe was built, it was likely conditioned to its original user and its powers, thereby aiding in accessing that individual child's imprint - their Oro. Through training and battle, the operators' Oro developed and their powers became more and more defined. Various iterations of the Warframes went about as the operators learned to utilize their kits, and some models eventually made it into mass-production with the original user's powerset retained through easily replicated biological processes and technological assistance. Now, we come to Valkyr. Valkyr was vivisected by the Corpus, but she survived. The pain was excruciating enough that it completely warped her Oro - her very soul and its imprint in the Void, forever staining her powers and replacing bits and pieces of it with rage and animal ferocity, making it so that even older models of Valkyr had powers conforming to her new state of rage and hysteria, and not any previous powerset. (Which was likely not incredibly different, but themed around the concept of a Valkyrie.)
No... as Hunhow told in the quest " A second dream" to the Stalker " You slay them, yet they rise again". To kill a Warframed Tenno, you have to steal their endo or Oro... or what ever XD
I commend you for taking the time to do this, but a lot of this was difficult to follow. I'll have to watch this piece by piece to really understand it all.
I know why D.E. made their game lore so cryptic. The Tenno are thrust into a world they barely understand with their memories lost. It only makes sense, in terms of intense roleplay, to keep the Tenno ignorant and force them to slowly piece together the chronology as they hunt bosses and clear planets. This was a great help in helping me understand the pieces I have uncovered. Thank you.
I've seen this video about four times over the past two years, also around the time I started playing. This is exactly why I wish I had started playing right at the beginning.
Mike Youte the primes were the first forms of the weapons created that were later released as mass produced versions (normal weapons). The primes are stronger because they're a close or exact replica of the original Orikin weapons.
There are exceptions to that, like the Helios Prime and Odonata Prime. Both are examples of enhancing non-Orokin designs with superior Orokin tech and materials. The Seer pistol is essentially a primitive Grineer attempt at doing the same, but is more of a cudged together thing then proper integration.
I have put hundreds of hours into Warframe and never understood the story. This video is amazing and I now know a lot more about the story than I did. Good job.
Gotta say this gives me some appreciation for some of the mindless tasks I did in game now that I have a better grasp of the context. Thank you very much.
Appreciate this. Been running and gunning in Warframe for years and never really cared about the lore. With the dedication of the devs to improving and updating the game plus the increasing quality of the games cinematic quests, it's starting to grow on me to the point I do want to know more about the lore. I'll give a few listens to retain what I can.
I know I'm late to the party but damn, talk about everything going wrong after the advancement of Tech. This had to take alot of time and effort. thank you for the hard work.

So I have some issues; in terms of this post, in particular, you saying that the new strange would be after the Second dream makes very little sense.
The current star chart progression (as far as story progressing quests are concerned) actually makes perfect sense. "All is silent and calm, hushed and empty is the womb of the sky."
A call the Lotus would have used to signal the true end of the old war to the sentients after she destroyed the Tenno (had she completed the final sequence).
But if Alad got cured why is he an infested boss now?
One of the most under rated Warframe RUclipsrs ever. Stay grinding
Alad V is such an awesome character!
kind of mad scientist type.. always up to something funky and keeps coming back every time with another crazy idea.
who could blame him for trying to kill you a few times, or dissecting a couple of tennos?
hes a cool guy.
Pivke Mrzli i wish we'd learn more about the Dr. i cant remember his name atm but it was him who birthed the grustrag 3. in an early pc event there was some talk about him but not to much.
not as cool as the grineer.
I’m waiting for him to experiment with the sentient
steve guff Doctor Tengus
Pivke Mrzli I want a hunhow raid.
This free game has a better story line than most full priced games
Agreed. And most AAA movies too. This could be a crazy movie saga. The fact that the game is still alive and kicking, bringing more stuff to the lore, may bring to that oportunity someday.
@@kékédesplages-d6d This would make an amazing movie.
[DE] should hire you to make sense of their game yo.
DE already has sense for their game. Its just the players that refuse to look for it. Unlike StallordD
All this lore is shown in the game, All you have to do is read lol
If you were to make quest commentaries I bet you are one of those peeps who goes "what the fuck are they talking about" right in the middle of the quest because you werent listening to the dialogue in the beginning
Warframe will never be a simple start to finish storyline, why would they hire someone to make it that way?
srbnsn because they aren't fucking lame
We really need to stop helping Alad V so much. Helping him comes back to screw the Tenno literally every time.
Seven7swords when he stop giving looters a reason to support him we would stop
To be fair we helped him be cured and didn't have a word since then.
lets be honest he will help us one day he needs us now because where is he going to go to for help.... :D
Like he was around at that time and not information that was simply passed on to him.)
Is Alad V from the Orokin Empire? (But sided with Corpus)
Because the lore is decided on PC ?
Hek didn't really fail, he destroyed 6 out of 9 relays.
KethusNadroev you got 6 likes
heh, 6 and 9.
also as of this comment you have 9 likes.
because people didn't give a shit after they got their rewards. It think was a test by DE.
Hek is dead, I'd say that is a pretty big fail. And we are rebuilding the Relays next event so who cares? Every Fomorian that comes our way now fails by itself, the % is slowly dripping away even if we don't attack it.
Going on 7 with Kronia.
You know what’s sad? This video is almost 4 years old and still not particularly outdated, since yknow been like 3 years since a mainline story came out
What's the lore behind the ever increasing grind?
Gordon Beerman War. Clones... Money
Same story as here in the states with our 2 income households.

@@IloveGorgeousGeorge why? I just started warframe so I am wondering was it easier back in the days?
Alad sells Warframes for 3100 plat.. (16:11) why can't I sell my Warframes for that price to some corpus freaks? I would totally do that.
Meahendra If only I can trade with Alad V. Would be so rich in plats...
*Alad V on trade chat*
WTS normal mag for 3100 pl PM ME
its more than just 3100 plat; if you check it again you will see that is says 3100k
because warframes are less valuable to eachother and more valuable to the corpus who, as you'd expect, do not have easy access to said frames. I mean, do you know how rare Mag is? Nobody plays her! So of course she'd be souper valuable to the corpus skoom.
Meahendra pretty sure its credits
This has to become a tv series, like Expanse. There is so much material to be used! Either tv series or a movie franchise like Star Wars. Only if it doesn't harm the game and if it's done properly, as the trend is to the movie based of any video game being quite bad.
Hrm. [Yawns in a bit of an agreement but for the main [Flower Game] verses|franchise instead]
I hope he makes an updated version of this 2019 even for 2020, because some of the more recent lore is really confusing and doesn’t really make sense. I hope you may be able to clear things up.
Pearce Robertson what about it?
@@zachb1706 a large portion of Warframes lore is guessed. We know very little of what exactly went down during the fall of the Orokin Empire.
Who is stalker, what’s up with the quills, what actually happened at the slaughter at the Terminus, how did the Tenno kill the Emperors, who were the emperors, the list goes on.
I want to see the Tenno kill the emperor’s and the fax attempting to stop them
I have no idea how or why you were in my recommended, but fuck I'm thankful.
This is honestly the greatest storyline, and your voice is incredibly pleasant; you've obviously done your research and written a marvelous plot.

"Factions stopped by the tenno"
would have been a better title for this video
*factions anally devastated by the tenno
*factions the tenno bully everyday but the tenno would still help them for a dime
Alison Moons story telling maybe but lore? no way
Not to mention one is free and the other isn't.
Alison Moons the base story is almost identical so I have no clue what your talking about.

A glorious job, tenno. Well done.
Never stop doing these, you're the only warframe youtuber that actually is interested in the game's lore.
Thank you SO MUCH for this video and the time it took to compile the information. It cleared up a lot of confusion and fleshed out so many vague threads. I had no idea the lore was *that* rich.

Yes! More stallord lore
6:50 Correction: the in-between space Limbo uses is called Brazil
After just coming back to Warframe and not understanding much of the mechanincs (let alone the lore) and now enjoying the game quite a bit, this was particular useful when playing a game you enjoy very much but don't understand. Thank you for you time in making the video!
Great video, although I will have to watch it a couple of times more to get more detail out of so much information! This lore is worth movies/series!
I always knew the Warframes had personalities... but I never thought of them as deriving personalities from their Tenno controllers. I think an interesting role playing aspect DE could add is to have us select a "main" Warframe that is preferred by our Tenno in-game, to kind of mimic this personality link.
Love your stuff Stallord, keep it up!
I read "Shitlord" for some reason lol
I like turtle fish paint too
@Eyes of Blight Event - Yeah, he failed in destroying ALL the Relays but a lot of them certainly are destroyed.... good times it was to be on the Relays that were destroyed, watching him boast about its destruction while an army of Tenno were dancing and having a party in the soon-to-be-destroyed Relays, lmao.
there's literally only 3 relays left on xbox edition.
he might as well have destroyed leonov, but noooo, people wanted that relay even though it's a ghost town that nobody goes to unless borrow kitty is there.
I find it so hard to watch certain videos that are only a few minutes long, but you make 20 minutes feel very engaging and interesting.
thanks for the vid, was actually wondering about it
I think you missed the origin of the Technocyte plague.
Dark Sector isn't cannon but the story is along a similar path.
dark sector technocyte is more metally and shiny, warframe technocyte is just sagging masses of pus filled sacs of squishy flesh.
there be differences, lad.
Subbed.
This has got me even more hyped about warframe ! Good work man, this must have taken forever so thanks for doing this !🙌
Well done man. Very nice video. After playing for 5 years and getting the story in pieces, it's nice to hear it all at once. Great work.
Wow, up until the events you learn about in the second dream and the war within I had no clue about any of this. I'm not sure if this is the fault of the game for bad story delivery or the fault of me for not spending hours in the codex but I'm glad I watched this video cause the story is worth hearing.
Jvk1166z bit of both really all the lore is in the game in the codex and thru scans and such but before quests like the 2nd dream and war within n such warframe didn't do such a good job delivering it's lore straight up and easy to understand as warframe goes on it fleshed out more n more tho so that's good ^.^
That moment when you realize most of the lore and story is changed by what the player characters choose to help.
Do you have this in written form?

i'm here because of the last quest. with each big update i become more and more confused. It's like Loki switches places with me with a build of 250% strenght and an ev besides him

This really pieced ALOT together & now SO MUCH of the Warframe universe makes sense.
Thank you for this video.
Thank you so much for this video. One of the reasons I started playing this game was the story of how everything came to be, but it was (and somewhat is) a bit confusing. Thank you for clarifying a lot of it. Next time I make a video, I'm going to mention this for anyone interested.
Id absolutely love if you remastered this once new war arrives.
new war sucked.
So if a Tenno doesn't know they have a physical form besides a Warframe is killed, does the tenno die? Like all the warframes cut up for the zanuka project. Their tennos didn't know that wasn't their physical bodies so did it just go full matrix on them and their mind kills themselves?
Demon Intellect It may be explained sooner or later.
Jzilla it might be or else it will be left as an oversight.

Man in the Fourth Wall
You can be The Man In The Wall, without your will Warframes and even Tenno wouldn`t move an inch. Well, except when they do
I commend you for taking the time to do this, but a lot of this was difficult to follow. I'll have to watch this piece by piece to really understand it all.
I hadn't spent much time bothering with Orokin lore so the first portion of the video was new to me, thanks.
Thank you.
DE WHERE U AT, THIS MAN NEEDS TO BE EMPLOYED
I regret only starting Warframe a year or so ago, I've missed so many events
Been putting off figuring all this out for myself for 5 years. Thanks for doing the heavy lifting for me!

This was an excellent compilation, looks like you put in a lot of harm work here, what an amazing video
harm work... I don't feel harmed. Are you okay? Did the lore harm you? Are you offended by it?
Cool Bro I think he meant to say hard work.
I been waiting for this episode for a very long time. Thanks my boi!
Beautiful Video.
Fuck yeah!!
Good video bro, but i have a question, what about primes? When did that stuff start?
What do you mean?
Mike Youte the primes were the first forms of the weapons created that were later released as mass produced versions (normal weapons). The primes are stronger because they're a close or exact replica of the original Orikin weapons.
^
Oh
There are exceptions to that, like the Helios Prime and Odonata Prime. Both are examples of enhancing non-Orokin designs with superior Orokin tech and materials. The Seer pistol is essentially a primitive Grineer attempt at doing the same, but is more of a cudged together thing then proper integration.
I have put hundreds of hours into Warframe and never understood the story. This video is amazing and I now know a lot more about the story than I did. Good job.
The best resume for the storyline ever. Great work
Where is John Prodmans timeline that one has the total RNG and power

Gotta say this gives me some appreciation for some of the mindless tasks I did in game now that I have a better grasp of the context. Thank you very much.
Appreciate this. Been running and gunning in Warframe for years and never really cared about the lore.
