Aprilia RSV1000R Clutch Basket Noisy!

- Hi Guys,
Welcome to my channel, we had an Aprilia RSV1000R come in with horrendous chattering noise coming from the clutch basket area. We stripped it and found the problem. Fixed it and road tested.

Hi . Good video. I have a Aprilia RSV mile 2001. I bought it 10 years ago I did test ride it and all good. The clutch is now nothing just like a floppy leaver just think if it was a cable and the cable snapped. What sort of cost would that be in the shop. I was going to do it as I did many bikes years ago right down to big ends replacement gears most things but mostly two strokes and four strokes apart from the main engine I’ve done the clutch on four stroke. The clutch pot on the handle bars looked iffy when I bought the bike like it was drying up. What would you charge for a clutch repair. I’ve seen the clutch done on RUclips. Just wondering the cost to have it done at my local shop.thanks

Hi Martin, it depends on what the actual fault is, is it a hydraulic fault or do you have a clutch issue. Very difficult to assess via a message buddy!

Do you need to drain the oil for this? Just did an oil change and found out later my clutch was slipping. Can i take the cover off on the side stand?
@@DonGH97 yes drain the oil and save it if it's clean, if your clutch is slipping, did you use fully synthetic oil? If yes then that's the issue, replace it with semi
@@melsmotors thx for the quick reply. No I’ve heard the rsv is notorious for slipping because of oil. I’ve put in 15w50 semi synthetic from Motorex, should be good. I didn’t have to drain the oil after all, i got the plates out on the side stand. They seem to be worn but im not sure since this is my first time ever inspecting clutch plates lol
@@DonGH97 if you drain it you can use the oil to soak the new plates

I thought BMW's were tough to work on. They got nothing on Aprilia.
Hi mate! Great video very helpful..question do you have a fix for the speedo read issue on the 04-09 rsv1000r when recorded ks drop off..well known fault due to low battery charge.. would appreciate a reply. Cheers
