I’m italian and have followed a mediterran diet since little.
It involves a huge good variety but also lots of carbs pasta pizza etc
I must admit I always been overweight then started doing sport and balanced most of it but always had that yo yo effect and because I enjoy food luckily I also filled in amazing fish meat and all the vegetables and fruits.
I have removed Carbs totally from my diet since 2 weeks and intend to go forward with it and managing to not eat after 5 pm.
I am doing amazingly including at least 4 hours if I can 6 of cardio at week with only one or two meals per day.
My personal shock and realization of how bad are carbs was eating two pizzas and still feeling hungry and craving for more.
    Thank you doctor!!!

I could hardly do a push up and now am doing sets of 25 from my toes. My arms started at 14" and now are 14.5" at the bicep. My waist started at 42 and now is down to 37 (when sucked in, lol). I stopped drinking any type of sugar drink i try to drink only water. Sometimes i drink beer when I'm out with friends.I'm doing little changes every week so i don't overwhelm myself.I think in the next few month i will have a healthier diet by doing little changes and not doing everything at once. I have a box of mushrooms and a large onion with my egg scramble, or eat a can of black olives...pretty sure I hit it quite easily every day! Do we get to add fruits like avocado and blueberries...eat those pretty much daily, too. Once u get off the pasta, rice, bread thing, u eat a lot of veggies. I can't eat much more meat than about 5oz...it's very filling!

Great timing. Thanks Doc. I started Keto early last year and lost about 17 kilos by end of 2020 (went from 110.5kg to a very stubborn plateau at 93-94kg at the lowest point) with only moderate exercise. Then just before Xmas started back on the old way of eating (I used Xmas as an excuse to eat what I wanted) and since then gained back 10 of those kilos in pretty quick time. I feel quite ashamed of myself that I let it slip so badly, but at least I finally realised that this has to be a non-negotiable lifestyle each and every day. For me there can be no "Oh to heck with it, I'll eat pizza tonight", or "I'll grab a quick bowl of pasta" because I always found it quite difficult to get back on track after cheat days, and especially cheat weekends.
The really great thing about Keto, was that while I was on it I had zero desire for junk like chips, sweets, ice creams, etc .... and hardly ever ate any. I didn't want or need them. Anyway, I plan to start again next week and do Intermittent Fasting with Keto meal plans during the eating window. Keto worked for me and so did IF, so a combination should be great.

Ok, I read something into it and they blame keto died because it raises LDL levels and LDL is "linked" with high heart disease risk. If you followed dr.Sten more, you might already know what LDL actually do and between it and heart disease it's a correlation not causation effect, LDL level being increased by metabolic syndrome. it's like saying increased police activity in a city dominated by gangs is the cause of all shootings or firefighter activity causes fires.

I've recently discovered your channel & love the incredible information you provide. Truly exceptional.
My question (and appeal to you) is what on earth happens when you've had medication (medium or long term) and you gain weight that simply does not shift? You end up bloated, pudgy and this weight does not behave like other weight gain. It's driving me crazy. I fully realise you're not my personal trainer, but there are a LOT of people like me, that are bewildered & getting nowhere after meds. I was the same weight -more or less- from 14y/o to 47y/o, I hovered around 54 kilograms +/- 2kgs. Now I'm almost 80kgs!!!!! Many people are even worse.
Re Keto: Sadly, I've NEVER been able to eat protein making a keto diet pretty much impossible. It makes me really unwell, tired, migrainous, and also causes significant pain for many days. I changed to a plant based diet in my mid teens and that was a massive improvement. When people end up with ME-CFS (+migraine & headache, fibromyalgia, ibs {fodmap], mcs {including multiple food sensitivities which seems to be incredibly common for this condition} ) and there are now many thousands of people who are going through long covid & will end up with ME-CFS, protein becomes undigestible & eating the kind of foods that form keto diets become close to impossible. Many, like me, simply cannot eat the amount of food required on keto diets. If you have the time & inclination Dr Ekberg, there are a LOT of us out here that can't do keto, and/or because of illness, our challenges are so much greater than people who are without an illness (you don't know how lucky you are - profoundly lucky). It would make for a very helpful video & guidelines which are sadly lacking. Doctors don't have a clue & neither do most nutritionists & dietitians. Crazy, but true.
Thanks again, for your prolific & exceptional content

I was diagnosed as being hypoglycaemic in my teens when I kept passing out, feeling faint and wobbly. My doctor told me to always carry a Mars chocolate bar to have a shot of glucose if I started to feel faint. Now I'm nearly 60 and the pounds have piled on for the last 25 years or so and even intermittent fasting hasn't helped - because the apparently naturally higher insulin levels are preventing me accessing the stored fat. I'm looking forward to trying these new ideas to see if I can finally lose the excess weight. If only YOU had been my doctor all those years ago!!

I always did intermittent fasting when I was young...my mother called it “starving myself.” I didn’t have a term for I.F., and called it, “not eating past 6pm.” I used to make my poor mum crazy. She always insisted I was starving myself. I just didn’t feel well if I ate late in the day.

I think the concern especially with young people is that it could potential turn into an eating disorder. I think the key is paying attention to the behaviors of how they are fasting and noticing if it turns into a problem.
