If you wanted to, you could up the design even further by making it an end grain cutting board too!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this project and as always, let me know if you try this one out! Tag me @SpencleyDesignCo on Instagram so I can check it out!

This is the third video of Spencley Design that I have watched with a click bait title that is not addressed in the video at all. I won't be watching any more.
Yeah it's pretty bad. I've been following him for a while but the clickbait is actually driving me to unsubscribe
Clickbait is the same as lying. He has no credibility and lost a subscriber.
Well you are dumb, because when I clicked on the video I instantly scrolled to the end and only wasted 10 seconds of my life.
That makes 4 he lost right here

Who in their right mind would pay 700 for a cutting board
So in the video you said you're just doing this as a proof-of-concept, no client requested this..? But the title says you sold it for $700? Which is it? Are you giving us a clickbait title? After a while it starts to get so chaotic it looks like OSB.
Did I miss something,or was this title clickbait
Little disappointed but the style and warm personality made up for it Goodluck on making this a fulltime gig
If you missed something, i missed it too
The clickbait titles are kind of a thing with him. He seems like a good dude and I like his content but the titles that have nothing to do with the video are annoying.
Yeah i tend to never watch creators again if they clickbait like this
This is the very reason why I have not tried one of these boards. You got way more patience than I do for a cutting board brother. I have to say though it turned out awesome. “ I was board” 😂
Haha it’s definitely not anything I want to do again. There was A TON of downtime during all of the glue ups!
The random patterned cutting board is personally not my cup of tea, but I applaud the craftsmanship and creativity that went into building this nevertheless.
Definitely not my favorite style, but it was a concept I had stuck in my head that I just had to get out haha
Pretty cool. I’ve always been a leader and enjoyed being differently. This board is definitely differently, I give you kudos on your patience with this build. A lot more cuts, gluing, and clamping than people realize!
Thanks! This one was pretty brutal to do. Took about a week just for all the glue ups 🤣
@@SpencleyDesignCo I believe it!
yet another cool video where you entice people by calling it something and then not directly addressing what you called it. So you called it "my first ever cutting board sold for $700", but then the video said you weren't making it to sell it... so... did you sell it or not? If you want to keep MY thumbs up coming... please... address these discrepancies. Rock on, brother. Good stuff. And you hit the nail on the head with regard to why I have not yet ever made a cutting bored. However, I go a different route, and have just tried my turn at some hand-chiseled doevtali joints. They're ugly, but I learned a lot.
exactly!!
When I first started, I made much better 3D patterns of which there are plenty on RUclips. This is just junk stuck together without any attempt to make a pattern.
Clever design and creation of the cutting boards, learned a bit here on how to do that. My shop is in the barn here in MO and glue ups have to move inside for the winter. I do have a wood stove but it takes hours to get things warm and I'm normally done by that time. Have the same planer.
What is an apartment garage? Is it like a garage you rent that you have turned into a wood shop?
Ned’s attitude adjustment
Nice reference to Shaun Boyd at the end... the music and the pun
Thanks for watching!
$700 for that basic cutting board, whatever. This guy likes to slap all these ridiculous prices he says he sold something for and i dont believe it for one second.
Why?
I’ve sold plenty of boards for well over $1000
With the amount of labour that goes into these types of projects, it is stupid to sell them for anything less.
1 week just to do the glue up…
Nvm the rest of the entire project 🤷♂️
@Frost.7xx $ 1,000 for a cutting board, your full of crap.
$700-$1000 ???
Bull shit !!
That turned out beautiful... I'm all for creative uses for scrap wood. Any woodworker has LOTS of it... I need to give this a try sometime.
they turned out great, have to give this a try one day. looks like a lot of fun! 😀👍
Thank you! Yeah it’s kinda fun to see what you can come up with but there’s a lot of downtime with all the glue ups!
Ah, I've seen chaotic boards for sale at craft fairs before and couldn't for the life of me work out how they did it! So much easier when you see. They're surprisingly beautiful.
Yeah they’re really easy but they take A TON of time since there are some many glue ups 😀
Masking tape on your bar clamps keeps the glue off. Awesome to see what your doing in you little shop.👍🏼✨👍🏼✨
Love it!.. Great creativity 👍
So what about the $700 cutting board?
I looked are for a natural chopping board but it is like looking for a needle 🪡 in a hay stack
"I have no plan" 2 seconds later... "I'm gunna stagger these at approx 45° angle and you'll see why later"
Definition of a plan.
Just sayin 😄
Looks like you glued end grain to end grain. 😂 that will fall apart.
I'm glad you told me that you were using the table saw and track saw. I would never have known otherwise because I'm blind 😂
I like your channel but I down voted for the unethical dishonest click bait and switch. You claim to have sold it for $700 in title yet in the video you tell us you weren't going to sell and that it might be unfit to sell. Don't make me unsubscribe. Recently, I watched a video on another channel that said something along the lines of he could have made a clickbait title but he isn't Eric Spencely. And your titles were already annoying. Stumpy nubs did a video in ethical vs unethical clickbait.
You indicated that you weren't selling it, but the title clearly states otherwise? Nice cutting board though!
Good effort mate (I certainly wouldn't have the patience or the glue to go that far lol!)
Can I ask where you got $700 from? I have a hard time pricing my projects and am genuinely curious how you got that figure. I don't think I could sell that piece for more than $200-$300.. Maybe $400 if I had an established name.
That’s what my materials and labor came out to
How did you find a buyer at that price?? I’m guessing you knew them already?
He said in the video that he didn't make it to sell, which I think is him just admitting that the title is clickbait
Clickbait
Who ever purchased it for $700 bucks was a sucker.
I’m very new to woodworking. Where is the best place to buy lumber to make cutting boards?
I'm really curious how this held up? Could you give us an update, please? I've been wanting to do something like this.
Turned out really great! 👏
You’re too kind! Thank you very much!
Who the hell is buying a $700 cutting board?
Oh. It's clickbait. *again*... guess I'm just going to have to unsubscribe
That came out nice.
Not bad for my first cutting board I’d say 😀
Good stuff bro! Some say “different”... I say Unique! Keep up the creativity!
No one pays $700 for a cutting board, pretty and you know how to use a planer.
When you make you next random batch of random cutting boards run the boards through your router table on edge. This greatly reduces the chance of blow out.
? How so
Inspiring 👍👍
Can I ask where you found the humming audio track at the end?
How to turn a lot of wood scraps into a even more wood scraps, a ton a sawdust, and a very small cutting board, lol
Can really see the artist in you come out on this one
Haha thanks, James! I’ve never really considered myself an artist, but this was a fun one as a little change of pace!
@@SpencleyDesignCo I would based on some. Of your standard lumber builds. With modern twists instead farmhouse
Well I appreciate it man! Which one of those was your favorite? I’m considering doing something similar to that once construction lumber isn’t so expensive
@@SpencleyDesignCo Your angled coffee table so far
I really need to do another cantilever design similar to that one 🤔
Nice board, great video
Sitting here in my shop LMAO! The first projects I completed were cutting boards and I quickly lost interest because I wanted more creativity in my projects. The next thing I built was a guillotine style can crusher because I melt cans in addition to woodworking 😂
Cool board but you say you sold it for $700 but didn't make it to sell - confused!
Just clickbait BS. RUclips has become the Alibaba of videos and guys like these don't help.
Anyone who uses such a title is immediately known as a liar. Or... He sold it to himself.
I’m starting my cutting board project thanks bro
You’ll probably not care about this post, but your inclusion of high prices in the video title is trashy click bait, and as such, you’ve lost me.
Nice board
What kind of wood?
Bravo, good job :)
Thank you very much for the support! I really appreciate it!
Looks neat.
Bullshit. Nobody buys $700 cutting boards. It cost you $700 in hours to build a $75 board!
I don't know anyone who would spend that much on one cutting board.
Salamone would be proud of the ending.
Gotta love puns!
First time trying to subscribe - no idea how (please)
Are you saying that board sold for $700? This was never addressed, or was this click bait?
Nothing but outright lying clickbait. He even says towards the end of the video that he was never even intending to sell it.
5:30 "I'm not selling this board to a client"
Dafuq is that title then?
Humble bragging and bad/unsafe techniques. Unsubscribing.
Well done.
You sold it for $700. I don’t believe it…You also made 2 cutting boards and they were small and not too difficult. Did you sell both? Or did you not sell them? I don’t get it…
Send me the contact information of your buyer. I’ve got some toothpicks I’d like to sell for $50 a piece.
👍😀
Where did you purchase the power supply board look great
I’m not sure what a power supply board is
Like it.
Title was about a first cutting board that sold for $700 then 3/4 of the way through the video it was stated that this was a personal test project…? Weird.
They call it bait.
I’m not buying a lot of the BS in this video….
Takes more than the little smile and pretend not knowing stuff to fill most of us
Small point, the first ten seconds, the first two pictures didn’t match your descriptions. Also, who paid $700 for a chopping board, your parents???
700 cents, maybe
Wtf? I can barely sell them for 100
All that sawdust would go great with some epoxy and then turn it down into something else.
So you sold an average cutting board for $700 except for you actually didn’t and never even intended to. Clickbait crap that deserves more people unsubscribing.
Eric how did you sell it for $700.00? I’ve looked on Etsy , and I haven’t seen them going for that high. What’s your secret to get people to pay more? Thanks, Dennis
I wonder the same. People in regular towns certainly don’t go to top end boutiques to buy a chopping board, in fact most won’t pay over about 30 bucks even for a pretty one. Big stores sell cheap thrown together Chinese offerings at bargain box prices. Eric naturally values his time and expects to get a good hourly rate for his work input…but how he extracts that at the retail end amazes me.
All these RUclips clickbait subject lines, vastly overstating the sale(s) price of their products....I'm not sure if they are hilarious or just pathetic. It's the woodworking version of the fisherman's 50lb trout that "just got away". $700 for a cutting board? Uh huh. Riiiiight.
What? You didn’t sale it? Wtf! What’s with the title?
Bro your video is called I sold this cutting board for $700 but in the video you said you aren’t making it for a client it’s just an experiment lol
Untuk mengkilapkan tu apa?
Yes
What liquid did you use to polish the wood? Merk?
Here’s a link: amzn.to/3BgaRvH
Where in ohio are you located? I’m on the west side of Cleveland
Awesome! I’m a little further south than that
Yeah I'm out as well, this was a waste of my time
None of that lumber looks good safe????
This comment is not addressed to you or your work, but anyone who would pay $700 for a cutting board has serious values issues.
who the hell paid $700 for this?
I really like your videos and have learned a lot from them but the titles...Not exactly accurate for what is in them.
I'll save everyone time. Nobody is paying $700 for a cutting board. Not even from this clickbait'n fool
Didn't sand it at all eh?
I seriously doubt that sold for $700. If that's true, more power to ya but... it would be more useful if you can tell me where I can find fools with money to burn.
Are you telling me some dummy paid $700.00 for a cutting board. Yah right buddy
Wow. Biggest waste of time ive had this week. Thanks, ashat.
Maybe if more people reported this clickbait crap RUclips might be more inclined to do something about it.
Not true.
So you DIDNT, actually sell it for $700. Okay
**Sees scrap lumber**
**Use scrap lumber to make fancy board**
**Profit**
Dude i am oging to call BS on your 700 dollar cutting board.
Yep, the Boredom why I unsubscribed
Did you sell that board for $700?
Nah, at 6:10 or something he says that he isn’t selling it to a client. But based on materials used and hourly wage+ the countless glue ups. He came to the calculation that if he would sell and it would have to make a decent profit from doing stuff like this, it would have to sell for 700 approx
You absolutely lied to us. You absolutely lied. Some Clickbait I can tolerate but a flat out lie? Are you even in the least bit embarrassed for doing it? Please don’t say that everybody’s doing it. I watch lots of woodworkers. Some of them have some fun with their titles but none of them put a number that says I did this for this much money. You should be ashamed. And I was sitting here watching the start of it thinking wow I hope this guy makes it. Hey, I wish the best for you, but I really wish you’ll start being honest with your viewers.
😅😅😅 700? Und jeden Tag steht ein dummer auf.
700, for that? Pffffffffff
The master of clickbait strikes again!
Dudes from Ohio, tells me all I need to know about this clickbait channel.
Who the hell would pay $700 for a cutting board? A fool and his money are soon parted.
So he says “I’m not selling this cutting that I just made to any clients “ so where does sold cutting board for $700 come from ? This is click bait and I will not subscribe to these underhand ways to get subscribers
Three words all beginning with C come to mind: Clickbait, Charlatan, Crap
I like watching some of your videos so far. But, I can’t tell what each one is about. You have weird titles an don’t give an idea of what you are making. I wish you would retitle them an show a better image of what your doing. Nice quality videos though
