- Noelle Warner's life was changed when she began playing Naughty Dog Studio's "The Last of Us" video game in 2013. In this talk, she shares why this game was so impactful and why video games will be the future medium for storytelling.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
Just so it`s out there: Noelle is currently working in quality assurance for The Last Of Us 2, and this is awesome!
How do I get a job like that?!
The best part is her passion and emotion was being spread over the whole video. Thanks girlie, you did great !!!
Some game development company needs to give this fabulous young woman a job. I want to play the games she writes.
I love her enthusiasm, and I would love it is she's playing a part in the gaming community!
That Last of Us, for me, was a turning point in gaming. It's the storytelling benchmark I hold all games up against.
PS4 Fun Lmao it’s overrated but okay.

Awww she has Ellie's shirt
“a video game about zombies changed my life”
i can relate :’)
Same here! Even though they’re not necessarily considered zombies but I guess she didn’t want to explain the Cordyceps part of it because it would derail her conversation a bit. But this game has impacted and changed my life. I still remember for the first time watching the scene when Sarah died and was just profusely crying. This game is so much more about “zombies”. Also, I’m so excited for TLOU2!!!! It’s going to be even a more emotional game than the first one.
She even got the shirt!
Omg you're right! Lol
I can't explain by relationship to The Last of Us in words, but she did a petty good job. I agreed with almost everything she said, and The Last of Us too helped me decide my career path. I am now studying video games design at university and spend every waking minute of my day writing stories.
I want to take that class. Persona 3 was that emotional story driven game for me. I want to make sure my children have that opportunity as soon as they are born. Video games are truly special. You just have to find that one that speaks to you.
You are right girl. Video games are the future of real entertainment.
I love the last of us so much. This game and Uncharted are probably my both favourite franchises in the history of the world. I love the fact she made a presentation about my favourite game. :DDD
So so proud! This is fantastic and such truth!
I love her passion
This game deserves its game of the decade award. FLAWLESS
she’s wearing ellie’s shirt !!
She did a great talk and i totally agree with her that gaming could be the future of storytelling. But I'm just saying, game storytelling isnt gonna go ANYWHERE if developers keep dropping single player campaigns and appeasing massive multiplayer palets. Keep sticking with titles like Fortnite and League of Legends and u wont have any storytelling.
You can still have multiplayer games with amazing stories. Look at the warcraft lore there is SO MUCH story in that game it's insane! I agree a lot of single player games are very story driven because it just focuses on the story of the game with no multiplayer aspect but if done right multiplayer games can have amazing stories as well.
The Last Of Us...

awesome talk :)
I immediately noticed the shirt and when she said that it's a zombie game it came clear xD
I'm waiting for the second season
although these years games are just multiplaying there is no story ,but this year is the bomb , like alot of games that has stories xD
SPOILER WARNING!!! Ok now that thats out of the way this was awesome!
Good talk, thanks.
awesome.
A great talk I really enjoyed. I would love to know what Noelle thinks of Metro Exodus. Personally I thought ME had some moments that were on a par with The Last Of Us.
That was how i feel when i played Classic RPG in PS 1 or PS 2
I love this
right?
I watched PewDiePie play The Last Of Us and I almost cried too when he did the same in the final seen.
did she beat the game on grounded though?
Why couldn't she?
I absolutely agree that ( some great ) games are a history lesson, a great story, where you are the protagonist. What could be better in terms of absorbing the meaning and the character lessons of the story.
Eg: After playing your first "Civilization" game, and tell me you guys didn't pick up a thing or two about the pragmatic co-evolutionary timeline of pragmatic technology and human-civilization!?
Right? :D
Well, this baby girl really loves TLOU, right?
Too bad Roger Ebert died before this Ted Talk. I guess when he said that we won’t be alive when video games will become art, he meant himself.
DRAGON QUEST III
The mic picking up the sound of her saliva and tongue is driving me insane O.o
Dude you read my mind
Dry mouth from nerves. It’s so distracting....
she's wearing Ellie's shirt.
Get this girl to play UNDERTALE asap.
Man there are spoilers in this video
Sahilvir singh dhillon game is 5 years old are we serious
The game came out in 2013, if you haven't played it yet that's your fault
Acharya Tech at what point is it OK to discuss a game like? I'd say 5 years after launch is pretty acceptable lmao
Only from the first twenty minutes.
the game is 5 years old, however videogames are expensive, so isn't accessible to everyone. But anyway, there's no major spoilers that would ruin the experience.
This doesn't apply to Fortnite, everyone!
when the shepard betrays you ....codmw2
the dislikes are by Karens across the world
I love The Last of Us too... is she single? Could make good wife material.
