  • Hiring for any job is extremely challenging. Getting hired as an employee is also extremely challenging. Today I cover the biggest issue on why firms can't find the right candidates as well as why individuals who are fully qualified can't find good jobs.

Ghosting is pretty unfair. As a highly educated yet unemployed person, I pretend to be interested in a position, then ghost the company whenever I can. Because lets be honest, they do it all the time to people applying for jobs.

Thanks for the amazing insights. I was really concerned about the auto-resume screening processes now-a-days. I wish someone at least opens mine once. If I mention projects like "Bootstrapping with Lasso Regression for Code Complexity Analysis" it might not match any keywords in generic filters. Same thing with template matching systems for formats.

Often the filters are very general like, "masters" or "statistics". A hiring manager who knows what they are looking at will recognize those specific skills. It does help set you apart for a human review.

Hi Dmitri, May I ask if it is fine to pursue master’s in financial engineering while working or is it recommended to pursue the degree full time despite financial constraints?

Hi Dimitri! Maybe this is something you've already heard several times, but, what's the weight of a good grade in the Bachelor/Master in deciding to hire someone or not?
