ZeroHobby sells just the gearbox conversion kit for new version for the 4082 and 4083: www.zerohobby.com/products/yikong-1-8-scale-crawler-yk4082v3-yk4083v3-new-gearbox-conversion-parts-kit?spm=..collection_c7fcb0cf-eb88-4b8c-ad13-f8d646949e67.collection_detail_1.28&spm_prev=..index.header_plus_1.1
I usually just get parts from Aliexpress, or if it's a replacement part, I contact Zerohobby via email and they get me the parts I need. I'd say 14-20 days unless you're ordering the truck, which it comes fedex and is faster.
Its nice they got that motor low and trans the light kit is pretty cool on it too! How did the drag brake feel? Look like it was rolling backward on that hill a few times unless you were reversing?
it was rolling a little, but I had not programmed the ESC at at that point, it was right out of the box. When I got home I added drag brake and brake level, and enabled freewheeling. It was much better, almost no roll at all.
After tuning the ESC for more drag brake, the vehicle will now hold on hills/inclines where it would not before. I didn't notice the speed difference, but I will do a comparison between the old and new very soon. I also didn't notice the torque twist yet, but again, I'll try to show that in my next video.
I'm going to strip all the brass and the bumper from the O.G. and run them head to head to see if the LCG makes a diff. I suppose I can do a 4s comparo as well. Then we'll start the mods on the V3!
I've been running one of these over Dartmoor for several months. Absolutely superb, puts other 'big names' to shame. Just needs reprogramming on the ESC - a five minute job. A visually nicer set of wheels makes the presentation even better too. The almost identical 'Yucatan' (as far as chassis is concerned) is just as awesome. Full marks to Yikong / Absima.
I like the Yikong stuff, especially they are doing something else other that 1/10 scale. I love the scx6 but we have nothing inbetween and they fill the void.
Great comparison, there is not enough info out there about these awesome rigs but some dedicated enthusiasts like yourself are saving the day! Could you elaborate on what you said about the optional portal gears and the possible "overdrive" you mentioned? Being a non native English speaker I'm not entirely sure what you could mean there. Also another question from us out there who possibly want to have a moving driver/fpv setup; is the interior (steering wheel, dash board etc.) the same as V2 (only own V2 so personally can't compare to V1)? Kudos again for taking your time and I hope to find some Info on your V2 there on your channel.
V2 and V3 interior is the same. For the portal gears, you can purchase an optional set that should give you over/under drive. I have them, but have not yet had time to get this rig all setup and ready for the next round of testing. It's winter here so the trails are not very good for driving, and it's also indoor comp season so my time has been going towards that as well.
Nice review, I like seeing better renditions of the Bronco platform coming out other than Traxxas …..never heard of this company Yikong but looks like a decent model….i recently got an RGT Prorunner (Bronco Raptor not licensed) very cool rig with lots of different options many similar rigs dont have. It is slightly smaller than the Traxxas 21 Bronco but not much…everything 1/10 scale interchangeable still…..for $360 shipped I’m very happy with it….very scale like this Yikong model..
I would say this is a Traxxas inspired design (locking diffs, portals, 2 speed) but it's proven pretty durable and performs way better than I'd have thought.
I didn't know they released a V3.. I love my Absima Bronx version to bits.!!.. It's almost as good as my Traction Hobby Cragsman, but about £100 cheaper.!! There are metal axles, a removable roof & full roll cage, alloy beadlocks & a FlySky FSGT5 transmitter with the TH though.. I paid £499 from my hobby store & it's worth every penny.!!! It's waaaay better than a Traxxas TRX4 (£600 in the UK).! 😉 😉 I've run mine only on 4S since I got it about 10 months ago (on a 19t pinion), I've driven it a lot in terrible Scottish weather, it handles it perfectly, it's still 99% original & every light still works (except the indicators which I disabled).! Cool video.! Subbed & liked & best wishes from Scotland 🏴 🙏 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚗 🚖 🚕 🚔 🚚 🚙 🚘 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚎 🚤 🚁 🛩️.!
I own 2 Traction Hobby rigs and I love them. Cragsman and Cragsman C Pro. A lot of the same features, but as you said, metal axles and brass stock. I think the Traction Hobby rigs had a better transmission. It might be closer now with the V3. I also really like how Traction Hobby did the shift servo linkage. thanks for the watch and comment!
I really like this rig! Is it true 1/8 scale? Really like the forward biased set up. Are they expensive? I purchased the HBToys 1/10 version of the Bronco. I love it! This being 1/8 definitely interests me! Subbing your cool channel brother! Happy New year🎉🍻🙌💯!
It really is 1/8th scale, as far as any of the RCs these days stick to "scale". They are not expensive if you compare the features to the competition. Thanks for the sub!
Once holiday season is over I will start the upgrades, and I have a Fusion SE lined up for it now, along with other wheels/tires/inserts. Then we'll also get to put some O.D. on it as well!
Do you know whether the gearbox also fits in the 1:10 scale older version yk4102 can you measure the rail width, about 68mm would be great.

Nice big trail truck!!!!
But how long does it take to get parts if you need them and help accessible to parts? Thanks.

Great video..... How are gear ratio. I guess more control but slow then previous gen. What about torque twist? Is it much difference?

My inside kid can't wait for your next video.
Sick. This looks lil nicer on the the new version. Always know the cool stuff. Id like to see that on 4s. This was great review.

I couldn't agree more. I drive mine just about every time I trail now.
I own both Bronco and Yucatan and they both provided enough Dopamin for me to get over my winter depression. love em.
I like the Yikong stuff, especially they are doing something else other that 1/10 scale. I love the scx6 but we have nothing inbetween and they fill the void.
1/8 has become my new go-to on the trails. I also have 2 1/8 scale Traction Hobby rigs.
Great comparison, there is not enough info out there about these awesome rigs but some dedicated enthusiasts like yourself are saving the day! Put a fusion pro on it and itll have a drag brake.

@517rctrailcrawling nice! It sounds like you are on Your way to making it a nice rig!
