Rhino Capra and Vanquish F10 axle Steering Comparison
I wanted to know how the Rhino Capra axle steering angle compared to a Vanquish F10. I used a VRD Carbon build and my custom Rhino build. Both rigs have about 33-36% overdrive.

Back Yard Cash Comp! Bring on the Rain!
Просмотров 6511 месяцев назад
A little cash comp in the wet MI December weather. This was a brutal course and the rain was cold. This is 3 different rigs running gates. I tried to keep 2 rigs side by side so you can see how the different drivers did at the same gate. #rockcrawler #radiocontrol #comp #lcg #rc
VRD with a Mullet Part Deux

The 2nd part to our test and tune series with the Vanquish VRD Carbon and my custom mullet build. We'll compare the last run with the changes made to see if we improved the performance, or just really mucked it up.

Do you think this would be a good combo for a 1/10 Traxxas Summit ?
I would think so. And you can go up to 6s so it should be fast enough to bash.
@@517rctrailcrawling awesome, thanks!
Yes you can lower the pinion and yes you are right. Its by sliding the whole motor mount. I have tried 12t on my V3 upgrade kit for my yk4083 and there is still a bit more room. Not sure 11t though.
thanks for the confirmation. Have you figured out a good way to set mesh?
@517rctrailcrawling yes there is a small window like on previous model but more small and flushed. Secured with one screw. Right behind where motor is mounted
Stops are for sissies. Can’t wait untill they come out with double c’s for the f-10s
Do you have a link for the axles/"double cvds" you used in the rhino, i did not understand what you said.
www.amazon.com/dp/B0CPTY3KTV?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
Less of an improvement than I was expecting, but definitely a difference!
mostly in the smoothness. The stock axles hopped a lot at full lock, with less steering. I was able to grind the stops a bit and get more, but I'm already hitting the links and shocks, so.....
@@brianmassey7563 Some wider offset wheels maybe 👍
@@keldonator for testing sure, but these rigs are set up for C2.5 comps, so wider is not going to help me there. For example purposes sure.
What new axle shafts did you get? I have the same axles and I’d like to do the same thing. Thanks for the great video and the information.
Overdrive will play a huge part in this way of testing also. Even with the overdrive portal gears offered by Rhinorc the VRD will have more overdrive stock. I want to get more overdrive for my YueOneV2 myself (more than the portal gears alone) gonna have to put a 8/30 in the rear.
So, the VRD stock felt too much for me, so I put in the 9.8% U.D. gear in the front diff, and it now performs better for my comps. In the Rhino I swapped the rear 8/24 for an 8/30. So I think we're at like 27% and 34% for the O.D. ??? I think I'll do more comparisons... I do have the Rhino O.D. portal gears but not installed. My local comps are not high in traction, so shooting for the moon on O.D. is not as helpful as in other areas I've driven.
@brianmassey7563 I really like the amount of overdrive on the VRD, feels about perfect. I think it's about 47% and I want to get my YueOneV2 up there too. I also have 70:30 weight distribution on both, so the front drags the back around. I tried roughly 80% overdrive once, that was too much lol
@@keldonator all depends on where you crawl. I do drive at one of the places where Brian competes. 50% dirty dusty side hills. The stock carbon OD. does not work there
@@nicholasstephey8475 I don't think I'd care what surface I was driving on 🤷♂️
Nice clear and informative video Brian. The problem I have with this is that I now need one for my V2! 😆😊
I know how you feel...my V2 now needs one as well 😁
@517rctrailcrawling Will it fit?
Green Crawler Canyon Badge 🤩
I think I have some stickers around here as well. I really do need to get the bench more organized....
I just seen you pull out of the Wendy’s and saw the back of your truck good shit
Crazy how nice the big sixth scale was for the trails.
- Ultra nice rigs !!!! Very realistic !! 👌👍
Thank you 👍
Cool 👍
Thanks for watching!
Dam Zac. Get that girl up the hill.
😮
That was awesome! What a great time!!
Yes it was! I only wish we could have added the 1/8th scale to the climb...
Do you know whether the gearbox also fits in the 1:10 scale older version yk4102 can you measure the rail width, about 68mm would be great.
ZeroHobby sells just the gearbox conversion kit for new version for the 4082 and 4083: www.zerohobby.com/products/yikong-1-8-scale-crawler-yk4082v3-yk4083v3-new-gearbox-conversion-parts-kit?spm=..collection_c7fcb0cf-eb88-4b8c-ad13-f8d646949e67.collection_detail_1.28&spm_prev=..index.header_plus_1.1
VRD is a killer rig! Thanks for posting.
In it's current form, I'm running the stubby kit with BTA low-pro servo and 10% less O.D. It's also a bit lighter due to the different wheel choice (to get a bit more narrow). It's my class 2.5 comp rig right now and it's doing great! Thanks for the watch.
Great comparison, there is not enough info out there about these awesome rigs but some dedicated enthusiasts like yourself are saving the day! Could you elaborate on what you said about the optional portal gears and the possible "overdrive" you mentioned? Being a non native English speaker I'm not entirely sure what you could mean there. Also another question from us out there who possibly want to have a moving driver/fpv setup; is the interior (steering wheel, dash board etc.) the same as V2 (only own V2 so personally can't compare to V1)? Kudos again for taking your time and I hope to find some Info on your V2 there on your channel.
V2 and V3 interior is the same. For the portal gears, you can purchase an optional set that should give you over/under drive. I have them, but have not yet had time to get this rig all setup and ready for the next round of testing. It's winter here so the trails are not very good for driving, and it's also indoor comp season so my time has been going towards that as well.
Nice crawlers like your vids. What is the body on the vrd?
It's the JConcepts Jr. Mortician. Thanks for the watch and comment!
@@517rctrailcrawling very cool most comp crawlers look the same with different paint jobs and that body really makes it stand out 🤙
I didn't know they released a V3.. I love my Absima Bronx version to bits.!!.. It's almost as good as my Traction Hobby Cragsman, but about £100 cheaper.!! There are metal axles, a removable roof & full roll cage, alloy beadlocks & a FlySky FSGT5 transmitter with the TH though.. I paid £499 from my hobby store & it's worth every penny.!!! It's waaaay better than a Traxxas TRX4 (£600 in the UK).! 😉 😉 I've run mine only on 4S since I got it about 10 months ago (on a 19t pinion), I've driven it a lot in terrible Scottish weather, it handles it perfectly, it's still 99% original & every light still works (except the indicators which I disabled).! Cool video.! Subbed & liked & best wishes from Scotland 🏴 🙏 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚗 🚖 🚕 🚔 🚚 🚙 🚘 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚎 🚤 🚁 🛩️.!
I own 2 Traction Hobby rigs and I love them. Cragsman and Cragsman C Pro. A lot of the same features, but as you said, metal axles and brass stock. I think the Traction Hobby rigs had a better transmission. It might be closer now with the V3. I also really like how Traction Hobby did the shift servo linkage. thanks for the watch and comment!
I really like this rig! Is it true 1/8 scale? Really like the forward biased set up. Are they expensive? I purchased the HBToys 1/10 version of the Bronco. I love it! This being 1/8 definitely interests me! Subbing your cool channel brother! Happy New year🎉🍻🙌💯!
It really is 1/8th scale, as far as any of the RCs these days stick to "scale". They are not expensive if you compare the features to the competition. Thanks for the sub!
I've been running one of these over Dartmoor for several months. Absolutely superb, puts other 'big names' to shame. Just needs reprogramming on the ESC - a five minute job. A visually nicer set of wheels makes the presentation even better too. The almost identical 'Yucatan' (as far as chassis is concerned) is just as awesome. Full marks to Yikong / Absima.
I couldn't agree more. I drive mine just about every time I trail now.
I own both Bronco and Yucatan and they both provided enough Dopamin for me to get over my winter depression. love em.
Put a fusion pro on it and itll have a drag brake.
Once holiday season is over I will start the upgrades, and I have a Fusion SE lined up for it now, along with other wheels/tires/inserts. Then we'll also get to put some O.D. on it as well!
@517rctrailcrawling nice! It sounds like you are on Your way to making it a nice rig!
Very cool and Awesome Footage!!! Nice Snow Course and amazing performance from tge RC Truck 💪🏻🏆👍🏻 Loved and Subscribed 🐼🐻❄️👍🏻
Thanks for watching! It's still fun even though the conditions are not ideal. It just adds another challenge!

Thanks for watching
Thank you for introducing me to a great car! It's a great video.~~~^_^😮😅😅
Thanks for the watch! I've had a blast with this one, and I've heard there is another model coming out soon!
I like the Yikong stuff, especially they are doing something else other that 1/10 scale. I love the scx6 but we have nothing inbetween and they fill the void.
1/8 has become my new go-to on the trails. I also have 2 1/8 scale Traction Hobby rigs.
Nice review, I like seeing better renditions of the Bronco platform coming out other than Traxxas …..never heard of this company Yikong but looks like a decent model….i recently got an RGT Prorunner (Bronco Raptor not licensed) very cool rig with lots of different options many similar rigs dont have. It is slightly smaller than the Traxxas 21 Bronco but not much…everything 1/10 scale interchangeable still…..for $360 shipped I’m very happy with it….very scale like this Yikong model..
I would say this is a Traxxas inspired design (locking diffs, portals, 2 speed) but it's proven pretty durable and performs way better than I'd have thought.
Nice big trail truck!!!! But how long does it take to get parts if you need them and help accessible to parts? Thanks.
I usually just get parts from Aliexpress, or if it's a replacement part, I contact Zerohobby via email and they get me the parts I need. I'd say 14-20 days unless you're ordering the truck, which it comes fedex and is faster.
Very Cool Unboxing and Review 🐼👍🏻
Thanks for watching!
You are Welcome my Friend 💪🏻🐼👍🏻
Great video..... How are gear ratio. I guess more control but slow then previous gen. What about torque twist? Is it much difference?
After tuning the ESC for more drag brake, the vehicle will now hold on hills/inclines where it would not before. I didn't notice the speed difference, but I will do a comparison between the old and new very soon. I also didn't notice the torque twist yet, but again, I'll try to show that in my next video.
My inside kid can't wait for your next video.
Sick. This looks lil nicer on the the new version. Always know the cool stuff. Id like to see that on 4s. This was great review.
I'm going to strip all the brass and the bumper from the O.G. and run them head to head to see if the LCG makes a diff. I suppose I can do a 4s comparo as well. Then we'll start the mods on the V3!
Its nice they got that motor low and trans the light kit is pretty cool on it too! How did the drag brake feel? Look like it was rolling backward on that hill a few times unless you were reversing?
it was rolling a little, but I had not programmed the ESC at at that point, it was right out of the box. When I got home I added drag brake and brake level, and enabled freewheeling. It was much better, almost no roll at all.
nice job Brian.
Thanks!
You can hardly tell how bad the actual conditions were that day, soaking wet and no traction. You can see water but the video does a lot of justice for that buttered up run
It would have been fun to slap some Amazon tires on there and try....
Awesome
Thanks for watching!
That course is Badass. I live on 10 acres south of Jackson starting a couple of courses outside and a huge basement course for my 24s
It's a fun course and we didn't get to use most of it due to the rain and time constraints.
Suspension looks tuned good.
I think both are close
Softer inserts fo sho
that's been my trend lately
I think you are on the right track 🤔
we'll see...
You could try a firmer insert in the rear to keep weight on the front door climbing
I've thought about it, but this last test was firmer in front and rear and it didn't seem to improve anything.
Awsome. Nice comp in this weather.
Great driving Zac
Missed you there
Love reaction. A good place to crawl
I really enjoy it as well. Bring on the Winter Point Series!
I was chatting with you the other day at Reaction, then RUclips did the rest lol where was this comp?
One of the best reasons to go out...to meet and talk with others in the hobby! This was at the Back Yard Crawling Addicts (BYCA) course in Fenton, MI.
That guy sure knows how to wheel!! 😎😉 Next time I would like to record your run!!
I heard that driver is very serious. Practices high in the mountains, has transcended and has become one with his rig.
what body is that on the Carbon?
JConcepts Junior Mortician
I love some crawling 👍
I only wish I could do it more often. Winter is coming as well 😬
Carbon built. But haven’t got a chance to put any wheeling time on it yet 😢
I feel that. Hopin' to get it out soon to test softer inserts. Also have the stubby trans kit, and winch servo and mount coming. Should allow for more front weight, better compliance and better overall ascending perf.
It makes me wonder if a fusion would do it some good with the weight being nice a low
Possibly, but my plan is to go to the behind the axle servo mount and stubby trans kit when Vanquish releases them. I'll also add my winch up front, and most likely move battery up front.
Nice performance! And comparison video....why you whispering?
LOL, my son was in the next room and the louder I talked the louder he got. Plus, I'm still self conscious about talking to nobody...
Hell Yeah good crawl. Im glad to find another Michigan Channel
We're tryin'! Lookin' to put out more content...testing, new products, comp footage, etc
