Brian May's songs for Queen are a tresure trove of great guitar ballads: 'White Queen', 'Some Day One Day', '39', 'The Prophet's Song', 'All Dead, All Dead', 'Fat-Bottomed Girls', 'It's Late', 'Save Me' and 'Bijou' are fine examples. This Freddie song started out as piano tune (with Brian May on harp!), but it quickly became an accoustic guitar highlight at Queen's outstanding concerts. It song was written by Freddie (for Mary Austin) was immortalized when 150,000-200,000 Brazilians (most of them probably didn't speak English) sang it at Queen's 1985 gigs in Rio de Janeiro. Back in the day, the critics usually dismissed everything that Queen put out for so many reaons that had nothing to do with their music. And now we consider almost everything they created as timeless classics at the same level as The Beatles. Freddie Mercury was nothing less than a musical genius. Genres didn't matter to him. And his exceptional spirit literally forced the rest of the band to become musical legends in their own right. Queen's finest works are packed with subtle musical and lyrical references that will be taken seriously by future musicians of all genres.
I just happened across your channel and instantly subscribed. Your playing is amazing. It made me want to plug in my telecaster and start writing songs. Magic stuff. Thank you 🫶
Remembering back when I first started following you, you've come a looooong way! That smile at the end says it all! You're awesome, keep picking! Shred it for me sometime! Proud of you! 🤘😝🎸🎶🎶🎶☮️❤️
That was great Mimi. I could feel your fingertip pain. Not an easy song to play I think. Keep crackin' on - you're killing it. Sooper dooper. Alex the K
Well that was just lovely in every aspect. Hope to see more like this. I seem to love mahogany guitars, acoustic and electric, I have a mahogany Martin, Gibson, Fender, and PRS
I have an Orangewood Oliver on order, waiting for it to come, one of the great bargains out there. We are in a golden age of acoustic guitars. The Chinese have mastered the materials and construction of quality acoustics, the sky is now the limit. I suggest you try an all solid dreadnought from Recording King or Eastman, will blow you away for note separation and tone. The all solid Epiphones and Alvarez's are great too for volume and chords.
Outstanding!!! Sounds great. I have a Taylor, and a Ibanez acoustic and they are tops, but I must have a Orangewood. You just can't beat what you get for the price. Orangewood is constantly email me, and they are wearing me down. Thanks for the video.
I found it Very refreshing and with a beautiful tone! I haven't heard this song before today and ashamed to say I havnt picked up my acoustic for weeks I have a Breedlove Discovery concerto ce, it has a big sound gonna put new strings on it soon as I get the chance to and probably play until I lose track of time and forget all my troubles, then play some more! 😊 Thanks for that 👍
Absolutely lovely cover of one of the greatest songs ever recorded.
RIP Freddie, gone but never forgotten.
Beautiful 🤎 Mimi 🎼💙
My wife's favorite Queen song. I promised her one day I'd learn it so maybe this is what inspires me. Thanks Mia.
I love your style of pluck-strum.
