Joseph Valtellini says do it. Push and then get a free low kick.
Exactly
This is one of the most underutilized techniques used in muay thai at lower levels
💯 agree. My coach showed us a few ways to use a post/stiff arm to set up low kicks (because when you push, they step, and when they step, their leg is a sitting target) and i feel like I'm the only one that remembers to use the technique. I'm lucky they don't use it on me😅
I do this all the time in sparring when my coach first told me to do it. Now that I have the understanding to be getting a free low kick or get away from my opponent in a fight is even better Gabriel! This video was such a banger! Keep up the great work! 🥊
So glad you made a video on this. I love creating that space with a push and firing back right after.
Because i was watching masato all the time, pushing my opponent to do different stuff (like creating distance and as a set up for my strikes) was part of my game (not a main part but still a thing i was using in a consistent way), but i was warned a long time ago by a coach that this is against the rules and i told him i know a champion that is doing that all the time but he was sure about his advice so i made a research and found that he was kinda right, until i found in your channel that it's not allowed in a certain way but masato was getting away with it and you explained that we can do it in a different way or a subtle way so it's not an obvious push because of that i was like i can bring it back but i didn't use it, i believe that this video is the ultimate "push" that will make me use it again 😅
What goes with that is framing, posting, guard manipulation, trapping, the long guard, and hand-fighting.
By he way the cross-guard also blends well with all of that.
Yes.
I’ve been thinking about the is one lately… we’ve only been taught to push in case someone’s coming in with a long knee at my gym (so far). Happy to see how else it can be used.
beast lesson!
I saw Taiga doing this a lot in his fight against Daniel Puertas. Would you recommend doing this against larger opponents ? Are there situations where you shouldn't push ?
You said you wouldnt recommend pushing with knuckles.. Whats the reason behind that? (Great video as always!)
digging the new intro for this, sir
This is what Glory Kickboxing says:
1.2.9. Prohibited techniques, moves and conduct
-Pushing or pushing off an opponent without following up with a strike or strikes.
Reminds me a lot of Bajiquan! They have a lot of shoulder, elbow and forearm pushes and ramming attacks.
Has there ever been a body elbow thrown in combat sports? It's seen a lot in Baji but I've never seen it used in stuff like Muay Thai or MMA
Baji style body elbow needs to combine with hand trapping and other long-mid range set ups. It is wonderful for self defense since it’s hard to notice in close distance, but it wouldn’t be easy to land a clean shot on trained fighters in a ring when they are ready for a brawl
Peter Aerts also push a lot to create space
do push is legal in amatuar kickboxing?
new intro just dropped?
is this video ai?
Yes, nothing you see on the internet is real
