My 10yr old son who has autism was sitting watching this video this morning so of course I looked it up to make sure it's a good channel. Thank you so much for making these! He's been laying listening to the sounds all morning.
@ForgottenShineRestoration It's relaxing him actually! At some points he was just laying on the couch listening to the sounds of the video while staring at the ceiling. He also really likes the rust removal and chemical restoration type parts. After I posted this comment some of his siblings came out to watch also. They all really loved the turtle doing different things throughout. He's definitely still paying attention though as I overheard him telling his sibling to "Just watch and trust the process." 🤣
@maggiemiller6056 In my head it translated as your wise young son speaking in Yoda, like: "While watching we trust and the process is just." or some suchlike, idk why.😅 Probably because your son sounds like a profound, certain and encouraging sibling.😊 P.S. I enjoyed your wholesome share, as well.
Great work! a little tip I learned while welding a cracks is you need to locate each end of the crack and drill out each end of the crack and then fill your drill hole and weld over. Maybe not a big deal on things like this but on bigger pieces that withstand more stress if you don't do it, the crack can still continue cracking. Great videos keep it up!
Man, that’s good work! I’m a tinkerer too and really enjoy your videos! Old age creeped up on me too fast and I can’t do a lot of things I once could, so I truly love to watch a man do this sort of thing! Have a great and prosperous New Year buddy! Scooter
I would've given up the moment that second time the rust didn't come off easily, plus the skills needed to shape that handle from scratch omg!! Nice work, awesome skills plus the patience. I know for a fact all this work took a couple of days, all put together and compiled into a 30 min video 👍👍
Amazing how there was still metal under so much rust...great outcome ! the leather strip looks so cool. (20:53) BTW i think buddy you may need a pencil sharpener 🤣🤣 I have one i´ve just Restored (may help ....)
I saw the word ebony and got shocked for a whole second because I've been playing Skyrim too much, and then remembered that ebony is a type of wood in the real world
WOW !!! Totally unbelievable. The looks of the axe head it could have been an original Viking war axe NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD CLEAN UP AS WELL AS IT DID!!
I enjoy your restoration videos because they seem really genuine. I've watched too many where the item has supposedly sat in dirt for decades, and they all have the same green laden rust regardless of age or location found. Then it all chips away easily with a bit of poking of brushing. I can see your rust had really bonded with the surface over time and needed some real elbow work
When you’re really into watching old abandoned stuff, you can easily separate between fake and genuine ones. And yes, I’ve seen a channel faking many models cars with moss-liked decor and dirt, I can easily say it’s fake lmao. It’s hard to disguise things as old if you don’t really know how to make it into one.
Again fascinatingly wonderful resurrection of a hand tool with much beautiful life left in it. You must have done this in a previous lifetime BRAVO SIR
Is there a history behind this axe head in relation to how old it is? Phenomenal work bringing it back to life!! And for adding the information to the processes.
This type of bearded axe is frequently found in Bulgaria and the surrounding area by metal detection. They were hand forged from around 900CE to 1200CE and were popular throwing axes like the Francica during the middle Byzantium era during the middle ages. A good number of these were sold on Ebay around 15 years ago.
Respect for leaving a comment to the author. I would be grateful if you look at my content and rate it. In one of the videos, I made a gold case for a Zippo lighter.
I love your vids but just a couple questions. Are you working for some archeologists of some kind to do this? Or do you or others just destroy these with the rust and excess dirt themselves? And if not the future could you state what year or civilization the artifact came from?
Rust is so crazy to me. I know it’s pretty simple scientifically… but the way it decays something as strong as steel reminds you that eventually when mankind is gone we will have basically nothing to show…all of it will eventually wither away.
One thing I like about your videos is that you sow all the processes you tried, even those which failed or were not totally successful. That's very honest and teaches a lot. The only thing I would change is the length of subtitles, as they're too fast for me and I have to either rewind or pause the video to read them in full. But it's a great material!! By the way, excellent tip on how to do a straight cut on wood with a saw.
Yeah, I'd keep the subtitles up a bit longer just because some of us like to make certain we are understanding every element of what you are explaining and also your way of speaking (vernacular?) is different than mine, so that takes a second too. But I LOVE the subtitles!!!😊
This axe is definitely a war style weapon, I'd be very curious to trace its pattern. I've never seen a non military axe with a reinforced eye like that. Great worj, liked and subbed
I subscribed to you, keep up with the good work, I love videos like this. I actually found something similar when I was metal detecting and found an old Roman axe head
When you were about to drink the water, & were going “mmm”, I busted a gut, laughing so hard😂😂😂😂😜😜😜😜!! You’re funny, cool, & you do high quality, professional restoration work on each project!! Utterly brilliant & fantastic!! I love your amazing channel!!
The work is amazing. As an inexperienced person with absolutely no knowledge of how to do what you just did, I must ask, why did you not fill in some of the pits prior to applying the finishing touches? It seems like you could have used the tig (MIG) welder to do that just like you did with the head of the ax. Just curious.
Me and my son have sensory processing disorder and we love these videos! It tingles when he’s working on the metal and feels so good! Ty
Thanks for your feedback! I'm so happy if you both like it! All the best to you and your son!🐢
Cool I got sensory processing disorder too!
Aspergers or some form of asd?
@FreelancerFreak Yes ASD! Not quite autistic but processing issues with nervous system and left/right brain!
@Eternal_Genin oh okay, no judgment just curious
When you started sawing the handle I was like dude that’s going to take you a month by hand 😂
I love the bits of humor and the fact that you explain everything you're doing!
Thank you very much! 🐢
Same! The little turtle kind of reminds me of a curious child
Awww, the cute little turtle scrubby is too adorable. I love it ☺💕💕💕🐢

my favorite recurring bit is him trying to drink the forbidden electrolysis juice
“Unhealthy” is the funniest description you could give for that water 🤣🤣
Alas, some old things are like reputations: they can never be completely restored.
The junk of metal was like ''ahh, finally I can rest in peace in ground again''
Forgotten Shine Restoration: hold my beer

I'm very happy to hear that and it means a lot to me too! Do you know what exactly excites him about it? 🐢

Забыл ещё в кофе добавить красный перец, чтобы топор был острым)
All these restoration channels and videos are like a weird version of Kiwami Japan.
The subtle comedy and actions.

Genius😎
oh yeah i’ve heard about that with concrete! it’s wild how basically just making the crack bigger makes it more stable
you can also do this with cast metal but i like to preheat before welding
Good tip
Sí. Hay varios canales especializados en soldadura. Siempre hacen eso cuando se trata de soldar grietas. 👍
That hydrogen pop was louder than any response I got in my school lab 💀

Thank you very much for your great comment! 🤩🐢😁
Don't give up, keep moving. Those who stop will 'rust'... and leave this world too soon.

Шикарно! Химик, физик и просто золотые руки... 3 в одном!)))
He goes a little of rust spray him : proceeds to use the whole can
Your videos help me sleep at night. Thank you 😊
The fart noises with the turtle really made this experience even more epic
Tremendo!!!
Con un estilo único.
Saludos a todos desde Puerto Rico U.S.A
Face it - that's fkd 🤣
This video deserves to go viral! Who’s sharing this?
Honestly when I saw the handle, I thought you re-purposed an old table leg 🤣🤣🤣
man, this is underrated, this deserves more attention. It's amazing really and so much hard work was put into it. great job :D
Thanks very much! 🐢
I'm my mind when he dropped the test tube was "dang it" 🤣
😅😅🐢

4:45 ima drink it anyway
Most people would say that axe head was a lost cause including me but you saw something of value in it
I love the joke that you drink that rusty water!
Amazing how there was still metal under so much rust...great outcome ! the leather strip looks so cool.
(20:53) BTW i think buddy you may need a pencil sharpener 🤣🤣 I have one i´ve just Restored (may help ....)
Thank you very much! 🤣🤣🐢
bro has learnt chemistry well!💀👍
The restoration is cool and everything, but the turtle is cute.
It's SO CUTE the way you put a mask over the turtle's head!
Gotta protect the turtles!
Aaaa.. I was expecting you'd drink that "water" again. Haha.. My favorite part
You made the most out of a piece of metal that was nearly unsalvageable! Happy New Year!
Thank you very much! Happy New Year!
I love the video but what made my day was the turtle wearing a proper welding mask 🤣❤️ bravo!
That is by far the most rusted object I have seen, it looks like it was at the bottom of the ocean for 200 years. ;)
20:13 I️ have some things today. First off, obligatory Taco Bell joke about poop. Second off, WTF do we need coffee for lmao?
i think it's to darken the axe further! :3
That looked like a fun project. Thank you for sharing. Cheers!
Thank you very much! Cheers! 🐢🥂
I saw the word ebony and got shocked for a whole second because I've been playing Skyrim too much, and then remembered that ebony is a type of wood in the real world
What does that mean in Skyrim? 😅🐢
I admire your patience, dedication, and hard work. Great job.
Thank you! 🐢
I did not expect a deep fried axe

The turtle bit with the sander had me crying with laughter. That was good lmao
Thank you very much! 🐢
Dude ! those tips you giving are precious ! I love your work and what you did with that axe. Keep it up :]
Thank you very much! 🐢

@ForgottenShineRestoration You're very welcome!!
Lol
@gagaballer8142 What is funny??
When he dropped the test tube, I related to that.
Never seen an ebony handle before. That’s some ridiculously strong wood
Best thing about these videos are they help me sleep lol and I know I'm not the only one 😂
Very nice Restoration and a marvelous handle. Fits all perfect together- gratulations 👍
Thank you! 🐢

Que lindo 😍 buen trabajo
I think Turtle needs his own little pool 🐢🥰
😅😅🐢
That is awesome, what a legendary axe with a cool story. A character in a movie should use that!
Кажись во времени 20 минут и 22 секунды ты приготовил квас, который по факту не квас
Admiro tu paciencia y dedicación, excelente trabajo.
¡Muchas gracias!

@dungeondragon2098 It's easy, you use the translator and that's it.
Omg du är så bra på det du gör fortsätt med det sluta aldrig ❤️
Tack så mycket! 🐢
Great job with lots of patience and love and respect. I'd like to know when this piece was original, how old is it, where did you find it ?
Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the origin since I buy these items online....🐢
@ForgottenShineRestoration why do you always put a turtle at the end?🐢
@Skibidirizzfromohio because of his pet turtle
BRAVO L'ARTISTE.

I would like to know too! The design is old.

Wow den blev så cool är den från järnåldern? Skulle vilja se mer❤
Flap disc, if available, might be less aggressive when compared to that thick metal cutting disc you are using on that angle grinder.
Good work, the end result was good. Like your turtle btw
Your method's are so cool to watch!
Do you keep your finished products?
Really enjoy your vids!!!
Thank you
I watch your videos while studying, they help me focus and make me laugh with the jokes you occasionally throw in!
Como isso é incrível 🤩
Esa no es la hacha muchas mentira
I come for the great restorations, but I stay for the turtle :)
😅👍🐢
Your work is top notch I was having a very stressful day I watched this video and it chilled me right out 👍
I kinda love all turtle scenes, since i have a pet turtle
🥰🐢
Cool!

That is freakin sweet!
I'm constantly surprised that there's anything left by the time you're done cleaning!

Fun fact. I lost half ( yes, half) of a tooth today. The other half still won’t come out lol.
best restoration channel by a mile
Thank you very much! 🐢
That heater used to heat the rapeseed oil looks like a forbidden honey stir rod (you know the one that the bee for honey nut cheerios has)
This axe is definitely a war style weapon, I'd be very curious to trace its pattern. I've never seen a non military axe with a reinforced eye like that. Great worj, liked and subbed
Thank you very much! 🐢😁
Definitely. It has a upwards swep point for stabing similar to that of the Dane axe
重量不够,像稻草一样弱小,砸蚂蚁可以,真的要用做武器吗?
It's most likely a hewing hatchet and that eye is most commonly found in Finnish carpentry axes and also sometimes Japanese carpentry axes
As opposed to a non war style weapon?
Замечательное занятие с хорошим исполнением;-)
I subscribed to you, keep up with the good work, I love videos like this. I actually found something similar when I was metal detecting and found an old Roman axe head
