so cool to see you using a basque vermouth!! i'm from the basque country and i've never tried that one... i guess it really is good if you use it all the way over there! (fun fact: "tximista" means lightning in basque)
I just spent 2 weeks in Sicily (home of arancini) and am now in Rome. The best arancini are the smaller ones; the bigger ones don’t fry up as well. And if it matters to you, ‘arancini’ is plural. One arancino, two arancini. Thanks Molly!
Where did you find that Tximista Vermouth?!? It’s so good! I’ve had it at a few bars and it’s the best vermouth I’ve ever tasted. I need to find some for my home bar!
@@Mrityormokshiya well, actually "arancini" means little oranges in italian, becouse of the shape and color they have...but you are right, with potatoes instead of rice they're basically croquettes
Typically a croquette has mix-ins as opposed to being stuffed. The stuffing technique here is definitely inspired by traditional arancini. I'd probably call this a stuffed croquette rather than a potato arancini but it's definitely a mix of the two
This recipe describes me as a human. Italians cool your jets, everyone knows a classic Arancino is made with riso....she didn't claim it to be by the book.. and to add to that, I live half the year in Italy and have seen 'Arancini' made with potato on many menues especially in the area above Rome. Also @Molly Baz, Nice little heirloom Mauviel pot guest appearance ;) Keepin it classic and oldschool! Ps. not that it needs to be better but picture blue cheese stuffed ollives....
Native Italian here; can confirm that these are just croquettes. The shape of croquettes is usually cylindrical, but that’s the only real difference. Also, if you care to say it correctly (it’s whatevs if ya don’t) it’s one arancinO, multiple arancinI. Same goes for paninO/paninI. K, off to make some olive croquettes and a martini now!
this sounds/looks so good! for everyone calling it a croquette, i think the important distinction here is that there's cheese stuffed inside (that's not classic of a croquette, but very classic of arancini)
I'm going to make them now! They look a lot easier to form than trying to form balls with rice. I've tried Sicilian recipes but they've never turned out as I imagined they would. I wouldn't wish to intrude but is the cook with child? She looks positively radiant.
As a midwest girlie, I need a dip! Im thinking something dilly, garlicky, maybe some capers or olives and their juice, and some sour cream? Too much? More is more?
Sorry - but this is kinda dumb: It is not an arancini. It is a stuffed potato croquette - probably you could call it a korokke (Japanese croquette). I mean, Molly would have finely diced potato and treated it as rice, I wouldn’t say something. But mashing potatoes = potato croquettes and not arancini! And why should it fit with Martini’s. Most vodkas (inclusive Titos) are not made of potatoes but of grain.
the filming/lighting/editing/design glow up on these vids does not go unnoticed!! props to the team everything looks sooo good
Ok but imagine a little dot of creme fraiche and a bump of caviar on those? EVERYTHING
If you’re from Naples, we call these Panzerotti if shaped like a potato and Croquette if shaped round.
I love Panzerotti
arancini without rice pretty much sums up 2023.
Fontina is my preferred cheese for arancini and this is a great way to use leftover mashed potatoes.

They got these at KFC in Australia... they call them 'mashies'... they come with a tub of gravy for dipping!
I'm so happy to see you didn't use vodka. Way too many people think a martini is just chilled vodka.

come thru! can't wait to make em!
Arancini is a plural, the singular is arancinO...sorry for the unrequested little italian lesson ahah! Loved this recipe, and what a pairing!
Yeah so many people say they're going to get a panini when it's a panino.
@@moorenicola6264 same with zucchini😂😂
arancini has rice in its name too, this is just a croquette

@@BeatleJuice108 Oh thanks for telling me! Nevertheless whether people calls this arancini or croquettes, they look delicious!
is this different from a potato croquette? either way it looks delish!

Not different at all . Its a potato croquette
In chile we call this stuffed potatoes (papas rellenas) they can be filled with cheese or meat
My rice based Aranicini just fell apart when I tried it. So defo going to try these at some point

These are called papas rellenas in Puerto Rico.
What can I use instead of eggs?
I have the exact same penguin coctel shaker ❤

Like the format. Preggers?
Isn't that just a croquette?
Right?! 😂
@@marinarizova Yeah - this was also my first thought. It is kinda dumb.
Stuffed croquettes, I guess??
If they were, then that’s what they’d be called
@@hazelnutspred3348 That IS what they’re called
where are those coupes from?

hell yeah

i'm in california and i want a dip too haha! was thinking maybe something spicy/acidic to counter the richness, maybe with calabrian chili...
Molly’s distaste for chocolate is how I feel about olives!
soo its a relleno de papa
Love your recipes and your videos. BUT, the graphics in bold red are really hard to read - too fast and to fat.
Totally agree, the font is very difficult to read.
Great recipe but it’s a croquetta not an arancini
She is so beautiful 😍😘🥵🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎

Debbie Downer says what?😉
Why wouldn't this work with martinis?? There's olives in potatoes and olives in the martini.
Watch out…she’s got crazy fake valley fan girls that like to talk just like her and eat it all up. They will come hunting you.
The type of gal I want to marry but can't find anywhere cause I don't make much but she doesn't know how I trade.
This is just a round potato croquette with a bit of cheese and an olive inside.
Love your vibe and your esthetic, but you keep making food with stuff I hate...like olives and pickles. So I wont be making it, but Ill watch anyway!😂
I'm in my party dress right now my sausage is oozing cheese. Errrr 🤮🤮🤮
"about 11⁄4 pounds"...... freaking freedom units 🤣🤣 /calculating what this is in real units/

Don’t we all?
These are cheese stuffed potato croquettes. Calling them arancini is unnecessary. Moving on.
Smells like bacon with all these cops in the comments
I don't wear party dresses...
Thank you for finally taking off that infernal blue thing. The girls are absolutely beautiful. I knew it. I knew it.
ew.
What a gross thing to say!!
I think it's only Arancini if it's risotto inside, but it's a croquette (Spanish croquetta) if it's potato. Right? Slaintze! 🫖Cheers!
