  • Charming and with a very accommodating personality, Elisabeth was considered by many historians and contemporaries to be one of the most beautiful women in Europe at that time. Her cousin Princess Marie of Edinburgh wrote that "one could never take one's eyes off and that Ella's features were "exquisite beyond words, it almost brought tears to your eyes." Her older cousin Prince Wilhelm of Prussia called her "exceedingly beautiful, in fact she is the most beautiful girl I ever saw." Baroness Sophie Buxhoeveden, her sister's lady-in-waiting, reflected that she was "a very pretty girl, tall and fair, with regular features."

I can see why they said she was the most beautiful woman in Europe! She truly was beautiful! It's no surprise then that she later became a Nun, bc she always had a beautiful sense of Serenity & Peace about her!
Thank you for this very Interesting Portrayal of "Ella"!

Beautiful gems! And a beautiful lady. She sold off her
jewels and started a convent/hospital/orphanage where
she presided as Abbess. She was murdered in 1918
among other royals. Thank you for this presentation! 💎

You are so correct. That poor lady being hunted down like a wild animal and thrown down a well. She deserved much better than that . I thought the Convent should have at least hidden her . She has become a huge saintly figure that people visit each year.

@@MarkThomas-u3punfortunately the Abby could not protect her even though she was the abbess of the Abby. The Bolsheviks didn't care one way or another.

Thank you so much for this video. I came across it by chance and I am so glad I did, as I am interested in her niece Princess Alice of Greece and Denmark, who adored her Aunt Ella. Ella was stunning without a doubt. What a horrible fate she suffered after doing so much good.

All of these women were so beautiful. In every one of them you can see Queen Victorias eyes. One of them is wearing a pair of pearl earrings with a small diamond at the top. The Queen Elizabeth ll always wore those she is buried at Windsor Castle and she was buried with them because they were her favourites along with her wedding ring.😢

Read "Nicholas and Alexandra" by Robert Massie.
Very comprehensive biography of both and the last decades of Tsarist Russia. Read it. Mostly they were hapless people with a very I'll son who did all the wrong things for themselves and their country.

Lovely empathetic thought by someone who is obviously so selfless. How much of your great wealth (in comparison) to the dirt poor and starving in this world do you give away? A tad less sanctimoniousness would not go astray. We are all frail humans.
