Most of my students are easy 60 and above. They all do the same thing. That is just whacking away hoping it goes longer one day. That day never comes cause as we get older we don't get stronger. Need to be loose. Don't have to be strong to be loose. Something that is looser swings faster than something that is tighter. You need to try it and trust that this will work. If you arms and wrists are super loose you would then need to use your body which is what all seniors don't do. Follow this: ruclips.net/video/2QFBw8XGdpI/видео.html

Just wanted to thank you for unlocking my swing. I'm 64 and have been working on swing speed. I was knocking myself out trying to swing harder. My 75 year old friend out drives me regularly, and once in awhile I can keep up with him. I was watching him swing on the range just ahead of me and thought, "His swing looks like that drill Paul Wilson does." We compared club head speed with my portable monitors and he is consistently 90-92 mph while I am 82-88. So just for the hell of it, I worked your drill, then thought, I'll hit a ball doing the drill too. I'll leave you with this, after about ten goes, my club head speed went from 88 to 90 to 93 on my last drive, 251.3 yards! I can't wait to play with him and my guys again! None of us hit much past 220 ever.
Wow, nice jump in speed. Now, you see that you can do it. Doesn't take strength just a little different way (swing looser). Be great to see his face when you play again. Jus stay focused though and do exactly what you have done. Too many people would try to hard trying to show off and locked everything up again. Paul your explanations are so relatable and the remedies are achievable with practice. I had no idea how much tension or rigidity I had in my arms, particularly with the driver until I started watching your material. I was absolutely finishing with driver pointing to the sky, I knew it but didn’t have a solution until now. Thank you
Thanks. I try to keep everything simple and in terms everyone can understand. Most people are just hitting with arms. Start loosening up in the down and through swing. It is super loose so you allow the weight of the club to pull your arms out fully just past impact. If you get that it will wrap around to the follow through I show. You need to work on this immediately and daily in practice swings. That locked up swing is really costing you.
I tried this method at home for 4 days then played and shot the best game of my life. I am not a good putter. Last week I had 27 putts on 18 holes. 9holes were 1 putts. Best tip I ever had . Thank you very much .
My father and I just discovered your channel and we're thrilled. Your videos are excellent. My father (76 years old, 6'3" and 215 pounds) and I were playing golf Saturday afternoon. I was standing behind him and noticed when he took his practice swing his upper and lower body finished in the same position they were at address with his hands and club passing his body. I realized he was giving up speed and power as he was not turning his hips and getting a full finish. I encouraged him to get his hips turned through and finish with his chest/belt buckle toward the target. He immediately started hitting his drives better and farther. He outdrove the twosome we were playing with on the last hole. We realized we were on to something. My father searched "hip turn" on RUclips and found your channel. We're now both hooked. Great content. I have forwarded this video to him too. We look forward to watching many more of your videos.
So glad you found me. So glad he got his hips moving. Stay focused. Tons of tips on here. Just don't work on too much at once. Loose wrists and fire the hips. That's a good start.
@@paulwilsongolf This really resonated with me, Paul, and that was because of its simplicity. I'm 62 - an endurance athlete, 6'2", 190 lbs and spend time in the gym. Thank you so much Paul. While working through one of your lessons concerning the follow through, it was amazing how much more fluid the swing felt and the better I hit the ball.
Paul, I had a bad chicken and no power. I was trying to kill it with no power. Then I slowed down, what a difference that made. Thank you, Thank you. Randy

Hi Paul. Totally agree @ 73. The hard part is learning to let go and not worry about the outcome. I'm working on it. I also assume the same applies to irons.?
Very good. Glad you found this one and worked on it. Not hard to get more distance. Just need to do it a little differently. Keep at it until you do it without thinking about it.
I love this tip but as we are old, I am 71 if I focus looking for my driver head I would not see where my ball went because as well as our distance our eye site also goes. You are correct about feeling loose.
Paul, played a round yesterday after a full week of practicing/drilling the Body Swing everyday. Hit a few 20 yard longer drives, wrist were to active or didn’t turn enough on two drives that hooked left the others were down the middle. My iron play was much improved, straight and no fade, in fact the biggest problem I had was distance control, irons were flying to the back of the green and a couple went over. Need to adjust my distances now and work on putting. Great results. Do you have a video on up hill/down hill lies? Thank you.
Thank you for picking up my Body Swing product. I appreciate the support. So glad you are following it and doing well. Just keep doing daily practice swings working on the positions. Get the grip and setup plus 4 positions and you would look like a pro (no joke). So they better you do them the better you will play. Good lesson Paul! Eventhough I am not a senior yet, your teachings applies to all. In 2 years, I have gone down fro handicap 30ish to handicap 20 (bogey, or double bogey the worst), and my friends asked, which Pro school did you go? They are quite shocked when I told them its Paul Wilson in RUclips!
They sure do, plus everyone will be senior some day. Glad you are watching the tips so you keep this in mind as the years go by. You are on your way but we need a bigger drop in handicap. You should be low 80's right now. Easy to do in 2 years. Just need to do daily practice swings doing better positions and moves. So stay focused. Keep watching. Think hinge and rehinge then coil and uncoil. In simple terms those are the components.
73?? I'm 62 and have definitely lost 30 yards and I'm still extremely flexible. I'm a smaller guy and definitely not as strong as I was when I was doing heavy physical work of my youth; still have a fluid long swing.
Well, you don't have to be strong to be loose. So, you are exactly who needs to be following my teachings. To get the power back you need to be working on fire the legs and hips. So be sure to loose up the arms. Then start firing the lower body way quicker than what you are. It is all in the hips. You will get the distance back in no time then into the future you will be able to maintain it. At 62 you are still young enough to easily hit it 250. Start with the wrists. As you do them you will feel your hands and arms: ruclips.net/video/5_O0H2QNFo0/видео.html ruclips.net/video/Xk7t9yHCO-I/видео.html ruclips.net/video/7olBqwXF3Ik/видео.html ruclips.net/video/6ZeTqcz2pmE/видео.html Then start working on firing the lower body way quicker: Trigger: ruclips.net/video/RdphthCQ9VM/видео.html Cheek Trigger: ruclips.net/video/j1mS5Ku8Q10/видео.html ruclips.net/video/4MSzW7R8Acs/видео.html ruclips.net/video/bhuWpD-1hvg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/Q0zvcYZPOok/видео.html ruclips.net/video/lUOLMl_zmek/видео.html ruclips.net/video/UwynwFBldv4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/vMJeVYKZo54/видео.html
Finally got the SC200+ set up in the backyard, using the swing speed only mode for now until I get the net ordered. The last few years really took the stamina out of me, man oh man, it has shown up in really poor swing speeds. The numbers were not impressive, very poor actually. So lots of work to do, but I'm going to enjoy the practice anyway and just keep going.
Very good. I like the swing speed mode. They developed that because of me. So keep doing the 2 drills. If so, you will see the speed dramatically increase.
Great advice as always. I have a question for you. I’m in my mid sixties and I used to play a lot of golf 20 years ago and have just gotten back to playing again. I kind of struggled getting back to flush contact but on just a whim I started turning my club face to about 11: 45 at address and am really striking it solid but I have now a little draw. Your thoughts on what I should be doing to correct it, if anything since I’m hitting it solid.
This is a band aid. It may help a little now but it will fall apart in the future. I would think your draw is actually a pull hook. Set up square and you will see. I have taught countless people in your situation who took a break and are getting back into it. Anyone in this situation will hit with their arms when they get back into golf. This is due to human nature. I talk about it in this tip: ruclips.net/video/fuOJxv_22Hk/видео.html So you need to set up with the face square. Start rolling it and purposely hooking it. You do that with these tips. This can be a few minutes or a few practice sessions or even daily practice swings at home: ruclips.net/video/M868QsTlGt4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/p4vASmOzkPg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/N-nGM6yN790/видео.html ruclips.net/video/yHEv7G9Z5-0/видео.html Once you get that you then switch to lower body to power the swing and turn your arms off. Paul, I've been practising everything you teach, thought that I was starting swing firing the hips and staying loose cocking the wrists, but I have checked speed and I am no faster. is this common
2:15 - I swear you demonstrate that locked up, chicken wing move so well, you got me rollin on the floor. I've seen the exact swing for decades, heck I even used to do it. 3:19 - You should be a comedian, "where's the club?" -- Too hilarious!
@@paulwilsongolf Some people can't see a dry sense of humor. Postman just delivered 3 dozen TP5x balls, slighty used. These are for my backyard practice sessions into the net. Just need the net, a really good mat and rubber tees that poke through the mat. Haven't missed a day of hear to hear practice.
I haven't work a glove since I was 16. Back then for a good leather glove they were $16. I was going through a glove a week and couldn't afford to wear one. The synthetic gloves were not like they are today. If they were I may still be wearing one. I just don't find it necessary though. Totally up to you if you want to wear one or not. Tour Wraps for me are nice and tacky plus they last a long time so I don't have to keep regripping them. Yes, I play with no glove. Have done so since I was 16.
I’m guilty. Mea culpa mea culpa. Loosen up. Sounds good to me and get a better follow through. Something that is looser, swings faster than something that is tighter. Stay loose 👍😊🍀❤️ thank you my friend
The brain will always try avoid pain. If the brain subconsciously thinks there's a chance for injury it will alter the conscious decision. Arms get pulled toward the center of the body because that's where the most support is. So try this, stand up, extend both arms fully, straight out in front of you. Stretch your shoulders and back a little to get those arms as far from the body as you can. Hold that position for 10-15 seconds. What you'll probably notice is, it takes effort to hold them out there like that. The brain doesn't like that. It wants to avoid effort. So try it again with a light broom stick, arms fully extended, but this time SLOWLY rotate towards a balance finished, rear foot should get up on its toes, hips turning towards the target, and raise those fully extended arms above your head as you turn, and hold that for 10 seconds. Repeat it 20 times. The brain has to be convinced, that these moves are safe. Then grab a club and do it again. Remember this drill is NOT a golf swing, so don't fold the arms at the elbow at any time, keep them fully extended. This will accelerate convincing the brain, it's safe to have the arms far from the body. Be sure to take video while you do this. Then you can see where and when your body doesn't like supporting certain positions. Over time this will provide better flexibility and add a little strength to muscles you haven't been using before.
Well, if your arms were turned off you would not have a chicken wing. A chicken wing had you contracting the arm muscles pulling the club closer. If your arms were turned off the mass (club) would full extend your arms. Your arms are only so long. So if the weight of the club pulled your arms out then you would be maximizing your arc width. So I would say you may think you are loosening and as you get to impact you are locking back up. I have quit a few tips on this now. Keep in mind you are setting the backswing. You are turning the arms off coming down and through. Agree. This is human nature. I have been taking about this for years. I have this in both of my books. It is trying to protect your body. It want you to be comfortable and in balance. It affects every aspect of your swing and you learning the swing yet no one is talking about it (but me).

Paul, i want to ask you do you look at the ball when you hit it or do you look behind the ball. What do you reccomend. I here so many different methods on where to look striking the ball.
I understand the point that we need to follow through but many of us lock up because of pain (wrist, knee, etc.), not just the fact we may be getting weaker.
You need to be sure you are not getting tight which is hampering the follow through. Most people tighten up as they hit the ball so they are tight going to the follow through. So you need to loosen the arms in the down and through swing. Then go to the follow through as I suggest. I don't need the shoulder pointing at the target but the clubshaft perpendicular to the target line. Think about the shaft not the shoulder. Do daily practice swings and see how far you can go around. This should loosen you up. Then you know how far around you can go and end at this point into the future. If you are tight you will chop off the follow through.
This is because you are hitting with your arms. The harder you hit the tighter you get the slower the club moves. I have tips on this: ruclips.net/video/LAejvDbw_aA/видео.html ruclips.net/video/8docjX_sxUk/видео.html ruclips.net/video/fuOJxv_22Hk/видео.html ruclips.net/video/M868QsTlGt4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/p4vASmOzkPg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/N-nGM6yN790/видео.html ruclips.net/video/yHEv7G9Z5-0/видео.html Then hit fire your legs and hips to power the swing NOT your hands and arms.
I had two strokes, my balance and equilibrium, won't let me get the turn I need to get your follow through. I would appreciate anything that would help.
Well, you need to go through the best you can which means to a point you can repeat it. I have some students swing through and feel the club touch the left lat muscle (shoulder area) instead of going all the way around. Give this a try so you get to a consistent ending point.
Glad you liked it. Thanks. @@paulwilsongolf Actually it’s more than that. Had surgery in one shoulder 3 years ago & now I might need the same in my other. Lots arthritis going on 😞 Maybe I should’ve mentioned that. But your tip is actually spot on & was already working on it but trying to force it more than just let it happen naturally. Been playing on & off for over 40 years. Still off single figures but having to rely on my short game & putting even more now. 😉 👍
With those issues you really have to be as loose as possible. The swing is a violent move. Do this with tight muscles or arthritis and it could definitely hurt. So be super loose. Allow the hinging and rehinging to get the clubhead speed.
It’s crazy Paul. I can do 20 see that cheek excises Rotate through the swing Club is behind me. Right foot is up on the toe ,hips to the target feels good. Put that stupid little white rock in front of me. It’s amazing what the head can make your body do. Can’t go through the ball at all. 😂🤦♂️ I’ll keep at it. Thank you.
Do the drill so many times you don't know another way to swing. Also think about your arms. Right at the moment you start down keep them turned off. Could also imagine they are not arms. They are string. How would string work? Make you arms work like string.

Always a great video and information
This is a big one. People just have to do it. Get this and your whole game will change.
Another great lesson. Thank you Paul.
Glad you liked it. Thanks.
Hi Paul. Totally agree @ 73. The hard part is learning to let go and not worry about the outcome. I'm working on it. I also assume the same applies to irons.?
Yes that is tricky for a lot of people. The payoff is amazing shots and golf for life. They just need to try it. Yes irons too.
Clearly and well explained. Good job!
Thanks so much. I appreciate it.
Love your book and course great stuff. Thank you.
Thanks so much. I appreciate the support.
Another very good tip.
Contrary to received opinion, though, I would recommend lifting the left heel to enhance the relaxed approach you advise.
Awesome advice I actually just picked up 30 plus yards off the tee and it’s because I’m trying to rotate the hips and follow thru
Just do it in practice swing at home very night. If so, you will train it to happen every time.
Really really appreciate this
Glad you liked it. This is a big one for sure. Just watch other seniors. Most all chop it off.
Here are some tips from my other channel about uneven lies:

Perfect tip, thanks
Glad you liked it. Thanks.
Thank you…. You just showed me what I was doing wrong
Very good. So many seniors chop it off. Need to let it go.
73?? I'm 62 and have definitely lost 30 yards and I'm still extremely flexible. I'm a smaller guy and definitely not as strong as I was when I was doing heavy physical work of my youth; still have a fluid long swing.
Same here on all counts
Well, you don't have to be strong to be loose. So, you are exactly who needs to be following my teachings. To get the power back you need to be working on fire the legs and hips. So be sure to loose up the arms. Then start firing the lower body way quicker than what you are. It is all in the hips. You will get the distance back in no time then into the future you will be able to maintain it. At 62 you are still young enough to easily hit it 250. Start with the wrists. As you do them you will feel your hands and arms:

Glad you liked it. Thanks.
Grate lesson Don it it works
Glad you liked it. Thanks.
I talk about it in this tip:
ruclips.net/video/fuOJxv_22Hk/видео.html
So you need to set up with the face square. Start rolling it and purposely hooking it. You do that with these tips. This can be a few minutes or a few practice sessions or even daily practice swings at home:
ruclips.net/video/M868QsTlGt4/видео.html

ruclips.net/video/N-nGM6yN790/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/yHEv7G9Z5-0/видео.html
Once you get that you then switch to lower body to power the swing and turn your arms off. Find a downswing trigger to hit the ball. Has to be something waist down. You hit the top the apply your trigger to hit the shot:

Do you do the same with irons
One swing all clubs. It changes with the width of stance and length of the club but the elements of the swing are the same.
Yeah that was a pretty funny one. I an literally holding back in all of these tips cause I get people thinking I am being mean. Unreal.
I gotta ask. Do you use the golf pride white grips because you don’t wear gloves and grip it better with your bare hands?
Do you play golf like that?
Yep. Loosen up. Start doing it in practice swings daily.
@@paulwilsongolf 👍🍀❤️
When I try relax my arms get flimsy and finish with a chicken wing. How do I find the right amount of tension so I can finish as you suggest?

This is me down to a tee ! .
So this will be great drill for you. Just stay focused and do lots of practice swings.
Can you do the cack handed drill?
Stick to this one.
We used to call this the 'arrow through the head' drill.

I used to sell stuff but stopped. It's too much effort right now. Maybe in the future again.
Paul, i want to ask you do you look at the ball when you hit it or do you look behind the ball. What do you reccomend. I here so many different methods on where to look striking the ball.
Depends what level you are at. Here you go: ruclips.net/video/7-n3ek5sxx4/видео.html
Use more loft in your driver. 12 or even 13 degree loft.
You can if you want but not really necessary. Most seniors are literally using no lower body. Just got to get the body moving with looser wrists.
Do you do the same thing with your irons?
Yes, one swing all clubs.
Thanks,bud.
You're welcome.
I understand the point that we need to follow through but many of us lock up because of pain (wrist, knee, etc.), not just the fact we may be getting weaker.
Yeah but if the arms/wrists are loose it would wrap around no matter how much pain/inflexible the person is. So I need people to let it go.
@@paulwilsongolf Understood, I'll give it a go. Thanks for the tip(s).
I'm 80 years old and my right shoulder does not point at target on my finish swing. What can I do to make that happen?
You need to be sure you are not getting tight which is hampering the follow through. Most people tighten up as they hit the ball so they are tight going to the follow through. So you need to loosen the arms in the down and through swing. Then go to the follow through as I suggest. I don't need the shoulder pointing at the target but the clubshaft perpendicular to the target line. Think about the shaft not the shoulder. Do daily practice swings and see how far you can go around. This should loosen you up. Then you know how far around you can go and end at this point into the future. If you are tight you will chop off the follow through.
@@paulwilsongolf Thanks for tip
That was me
I see it all the time. Need to get all the way through it for sure.
I'm 59 and I've lost distance since 40, lol
This is because you are hitting with your arms. The harder you hit the tighter you get the slower the club moves. I have tips on this:
ruclips.net/video/LAejvDbw_aA/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/8docjX_sxUk/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/fuOJxv_22Hk/видео.html

ruclips.net/video/N-nGM6yN790/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/yHEv7G9Z5-0/видео.html
Then hit fire your legs and hips to power the swing NOT your hands and arms.

73? I’m 57 & I’ve lost loads of distance 😂😢
Then you need to start following me. Loosen up and power the swing with the legs and hips.
