    This lesson was G O L D, Paul! For reasons I can't explain, I got away from your teaching and my golf game and wallet suffered because of it. Just "refound" you and took it to the course yesterday. Shaved 7 strokes and this tip in particular helped me keep driver in the fairway for most of the day. I did start pushing them towards the end, but I think that was fatigue. On the front 9 I had a drive of 284 and another that was 319 and they were EFFORTLESS! Can't thank you enough. Now off to go watch all my bodyswing videos again! :)

      Heard this before. They all come back. Stay focused. Work on each lesson precisely. Do tons of practice swings at home looking for the feedback of each position. Do them (only 4 positions) plus your grip and set up and you will look like a pro as you swing. Who else is going to say that? No one. Only been making people look like pros now into my 33rd year. Just have to put in the work.

      Absolutely true! When I was using the body swing before people would tell me how easy and natural my swing looked (and then console me on my slice). Yesterday, using the body swing again I almost immediately started finding those positions again and just got finished practicing swings in my living room (without a ball). I don't think I appreciated before just how incredible your teaching and channel are, but I'm glad I know now. Thank you again! Next stop is getting back under 100!

      Lesson 10 in The Body Swing is How To Fix Your Swing. People seem to overlook this when really this should be one of the most important chapters and videos in the product. Watch me do it:

      To fix him I did Drill 1 in chapter 10 then switch to body. So do drill 1 until you can hook every ball then add body and you too will hit it dead straight in minutes.

    I’m glade that I watched this video, I have been having problems with my drives they are 20 to 30 yards shorter of what I have been normally hitting them.I think what I’m doing is swinging way harder as I’m trying to gain back my distance. Thanks for this information, I’ll be trying it out tomorrow.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  3 дня назад

      Yeah don't swing harder. This tightens you up so the club swings slower even though it feels faster. Swing looser. Super loose wrists then some body and you've got it.

    This is one of your best tips Paul. Focusing on brushing the grass gives you the correct path, keeps your head behind the ball, ensures body tilt and provided you rotate your body you wont top the ball. Surprisingly it also works for irons but I have always taken a shallow divot. It was very easy to take it to the course without a lot of practice beforehand. I look at your videos while working out on an exercise bike and have never been disappointed. Anyone who does not subscribe to your body swing course really is not serious about playing good golf.

    Paul. Out of ALL the videos and tips I have ever seen. NOT ONE has impacted me in a positive way as much as this one. My friend sent this to me several weeks ago and admittedly I blew it off to come back later. This past Saturday 8/10/2024 I watched this video. OK seems totally logical so I gave it a try. Hit some balls and wait a sec... I smashed some like never before. I'm a mid handicap so I instantly wondered. Could I hit my driver off the deck? OMG 10 straight pure. OK this is legit (I know thats not the goal here hitting DoD.) Anyhow fast forward to 4 days of practice I finally setup my Garmin R10 to see if my dreaded Left path was gone. R - R - L - R etc.... R - R - R .... OMG really? Now let's move to the best part. The Garmin has never registered a 280+ for me in THREE YEARS. "281" wait huh? 103MPH swing speed WAIT HUH 99 is my general high point. 283 DRAW.... WAIT 107MPH SWING??? HUH? WAIT he didnt advertise anything about this helping swing speed. Well I own Awesome Golf software and it has a longest drive challenge where you have to hit the grid with 4 ball sets. It draws a line on the grid out where your personal best was before. One set ALL IN PLAY mind you progressively 281, 283, 288, Foul (hook.) I proceeded to try several more sets and I have never hit the grid 4x in a set. I did it 3 times in a row with straight ball flight. I cannot thank you enough. I believe this helped me with multiple aspects of my swing, corrected the path, and I dont know how but I feel that it helped me relax and release better. THANKS PAUL. I have forwarded this video to every friend/family member I golf with. S-U-B-S-C-R-I-B-E-D. BTW your personality to me makes you the Bob Ross of Golf Instruction.... Just Brush the ground, brush brush.....good bye my "Push Fade" hope you stay away forever. Thanks again.

    I've always had a slight fade that sometimes reverts back to a slice. My last few rounds I've been slicing and it's costing me strokes. Did this little drill yesterday before playing 9 holes and even though I only used driver 3 times, all 3 were straight drives. Great tip!!! I must admit that I am one of those golfers who are trying to hit draws. Not because I really want to see the ball move right to left, but because I want to stop the ball going from left to right... and more right. Once again, your approach of explaining the mechanics of the swing has nailed my fault- I have a push fade and yes, I've been working on loosening up my wrists to let the face close.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  Год назад +2

      Well if you have a push fade you are halfway there. You would need to roll the wrists to get the draw spin. When you do this you would be doing it with your arms so you would hit pull hooks for a while. Once you can get it hooking you then add body again to get the path. I don't teach it that way. There is an extra step. I would be getting you to hook it first then get the path. 2 steps. 5 mins.

      You are not rolling it soon enough. This is literally 5 mins. Hit the top and roll it. Hit huge hooks for a few minutes. You need to know the moves like the back of your hand. There are only 4 positions to make you look like a tour pro. 4 chords on bass. How long did it take you to learn 4 chords? So think of it like that. You need to repeat them daily. You need to make them more important than the ball. You can literally learn this stuff at home doing practice swings looking for the feedback of each position. Swing in a mirror too so you know you are doing them exactly right. Get addicted to them. Do the roll over drill(s) every day at home. Over and over until you have mastered the release. There is no way you should be peeling it right. This take nothing to get this stuff.

      Open face at impact? I have tons of tips on this. You need a neutral grip and purposely roll it from the top. You need to see this as good not bad. This is half right. Get every ball hooking then you switch to body to straighten it out. Watch this first to understand how I do it: ruclips.net/video/bLskGy7rulo/видео.html

      Well you need to look at the toe/heel position of your club. You want toe just slightly higher than the heel. I also like the feeling of going down inside a cylinder not leaning too far forward. ruclips.net/video/f0Gr-XBP1qU/видео.html

      Imagine a plane of glass over your head and on the same angle as the club from the side view. The club coming down would be inside it left side of the glass breaking through to the right side of the glass. Inside to out. If you hit this with a square face to the path it would go straight right. Open it would go right then fade right. Slightly closed and it would draw back. Watch this one:

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  4 месяца назад

      This is a good drill for a draw but you can do it easier. Need to roll it first from the top and get it hooking. Once you can do that you are doing half right. You have the SPIN. Once you can hook about 10 in a row you switch to fire your body to straighten it out (DIRECTION). So you are taking it in 2 steps. If you want to draw driver every shot needs to have hook spin. This is half. Then you need it to start right of target to draw back. Follow these steps. I could have you hitting a perfect draw in no more than 10 mins doing this. I prove this constantly.

    You never use the term side bend. Any reason why?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  7 месяцев назад

      Many reasons:
      1. Most of my students are older. Imagine a 75 year old trying to get serious side bend. It's never going to happen.
      2. It hurts your back (I've tried it and my back was in serious pain). I teach a pain-free golf swing. See these pros starting to have back issues. It will only get worse - you'll see.
      3. I would rather get the person doing the general shape of the swing first getting them way more distance and hitting pure irons or get the components working (hinge/rehinge - coil uncoil). Until the person can do that what's the point of working on side bend?
      4. Side bend is seen in pros swings. Pros learned as kids. Most ams learned as adults. Most ams don't look like pros so they do no have the right fundamentals. As ams get the fundamentals they get enough side bend.
      5. I don't teach what other teach.
      6. I can get sidebend by working on the through swing not trying to get them to do it at impact. All you have to do is this: ruclips.net/video/X_pF7x-OCXU/видео.html
      7. It is confusing for most people. I keep things simple.
      8. Most people don't practice.
      9. Most people want a little more distance and hit some better shots. I can easily get anyone to do this by loosening up and getting them to turn a little better.
      10. I'm sure there are more reasons. That was off the top of my head.
      I know what is being taught. I have tried it. I literally did about 30 practice swings trying to get more side bend. I woke up and my back was on fire. I have had back pain in since I started over 40 years ago. Don't get me wrong I don't want them standing up through impact but I noted above this is easily fixed by working on the follow through which I have taught since lesson 1 now 34 years ago.

    • @paulwilsongolf

      You can easily do that. Aim the face where you want the ball to end up. Aim your body left. Swing left. When you do the ball will start where you swing and face back because you have pre-set the face open. Make sure you have enough distance to be hitting this shot. Most people want distance. The fade is not going to go as far as the draw. I love the face and went to it many many years ago but I have distance. You can always work on the draw as well as loosening your wrists and powering your swing with your legs and hips. Once you get decent distance switch to a draw. Up to you.
