We stayed here last year and since we booked with free nights + points, it seemed to be a good deal. I totally agree with your high praise for the breakfast buffet and the executive lounge. My husband stayed in this hotel many years ago when it was the Mandarin Orchard and he couldn't help drawing comparisons left and right, but being a newbie to this hotel I had mainly good impressions :)

You mentioned that you had just landed- could you advise how much taxi was from airport to this location ?
Along you said this for price small Hilton room. Is there another Hilton you suggest ( Ie Conrad or Serragon)?
We r booking trip for April and gathering info in our first trip to Singapore!

Mandarin was way better. The rooms were nice though a tad ordinary
