    Steyed here as an eight-year-old back when it was the Hilton in 1983. I came from a rural area in New Zealand, elevators and escalators were so exciting to me because I hadn't really seen any before, and having a swimming pool on the roof? Well, that was the most amazing thing I had ever seen!

    Currently staying at the Voco and they have spruced up the rooftop since this video. The staff are great, it still smells clean (like your video said) and is in a great location. Thanks for doing these reviews

    VOCO used to be Hilton hotel and I stayed there for 2 nights once for free on my AMEX free night. The room transported me back to the early 90s vibe and the pool is small. Since it was free but I reckon the room was the old room as to the renewer renovated room.

    Thanks for sharing . On the back of the VOCO Hotel is the Four Seasons Singapore . I considered the Four Seasons Singapore is one of the best luxury hotel in Singapore . The service is impeccable unlike the MO Singapore . The check in agent offered to store away our carry on luggage while we were waiting for our rooms. I would stay there again if the price is right

    Love Singapore! The thirty-one dollar breakfasts? Just expensive enough to send me looking for a food-court somewhere. Singapore can be expensive to Westerners dining like a Westerner but it's terrific value for those eating like a local. My major find on my last visit, just before Covid, was the Food Republic chain.
    P.S. I like the way you anchor your reviews to the local geography - very good use of graphics and mapping.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  2 года назад +1

      Yupp, love the Food Republic stalls- especially in Bangkok. In Singapore it’s hard to beat the old school hawker centers though. And thanks for the nod to the graphics. Trying to avoid repetition without going too over the top haha.

    Hi Kevin
    90 trip reports already! Congratulations!
    I am following you since months, and I enjoy your videos a lot. At some of the venues I stayed as well before, and I can say your "flip flop score" and my impression usually match.
    Suggestion: stop talking of your will be Patron account until you have set it up and it is really available. It is already boring to hear of something that is not available yet.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  2 года назад +2

      Thanks very much! And well noted about the Patreon. Truth be told, my next trip was moved up 5 days on me, not by choice. So I've had to fit 14 days of editing into 9 instead and this (and the past two) videos were already edited and uploaded. I'd say there is around a 98% chance it'll be at least partly up and running before my next video on Wednesday :) Thanks for watching 🙏

    That was fantastic, your shoot, explanation and location details. I know sg inside out but your attention to detail is spectacular. How about more affordable reviews? SG hotels have insane prices since reopening from covid. I used to always stay at royal plaza on Scotts.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  2 года назад

      I will be starting #shorts for cheaper/transit hotels that I stay at next year. Probably not the response you were hoping for because you like the detail, but the algorithm is boss and long format videos of value oriented hotels don't do too well. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

    I remember this Hotel as a Hilton back when l lived in Singapore in the 90's honestly it isn't much more impressive than back then. Interesting you had to pay for Breakfast given IHG advertise "Breakfast on us" 🤔 inclusive with the room rate. At the price you paid probably a no for me. Thanks for the great review as always 👍

      Singapore is such a strange one for me, in that- I LOVE the city but their hotel assortment as a whole is frankly just boring (compared to Bangkok, KL, Jakarta, etc). Besides MBS, the Andaz and a couple others, I just feel like there's been such little investment in the hotel industry there in the past 10 years.

  • @jkjkjk100

    Stayed in the hilton in 2019. Still looks exactly the same except for restaurants and blue wall on the reception. I feel like they could’ve done better renovation. I thought voco was supposed to compete with Curio or Thompson? This hotel looks dated and shouldn’t be in the portfolio.
    Most hotels in orchard road are old and expensive and they’re more like business hotels. But hotels in Singapore is charging outrageous amount right now. None of the FHR properties make sense without fourth night free.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  2 года назад +1

      I agree none of the FHR properties caught my eye as being particularly beneficial, but on a whole- the prices I was looking at (outside of FHR) are still thankfully lower than what I was paying in the years running up to COVID. Hopefully they'll stay that way for a while, though I won't hold my breath :) Thanks for watching 🙏
