love the video, esp your dry sense of humor, real talk, and the small but very helpful details. we're flying EVA in Jan and good to know that they weigh carry ons. i only have one small suggestion and maybe this is just a personal preference - after watching a lot of airplane reviews, i prefer the ones that drown out the loud background plane/airport noise with music when there's no voiceover. it just makes the audio experience a lot more pleasant and i would love your videos even more.

Thank you, Dan. Love the review. I started flying business class 10+ years ago. I never went back to economy. I'll pay the extra for business class. In Business class, they make you feel special. I like the whole experience and the food is amazing. Awesome review.

Oh a new process for LAX. I’m flying EVA for the first time for my upcoming vacation in October. Haven’t had a nice long vacation since 2017 so looking for EVA air. Usually I would booked Korean Air but too expensive during Oct.
We are taking the same flight in a couple of months, also booked with LifeMiles (and yeah, that was not so easy!). I appreciate the detailed preview and will remember not to have high expectations of the StarAlliance lounge at LAX :D
I just learned that people flying business class on a Star Alliance flight like EVA can also access the United Polaris lounge. Unfortunately that is in Terminal 7, so a 20-minute walk each way, but if you get there early enough you could always take the trek. They have better food, I'm told, and even dining from a menu in addition to the buffet.
I flew on this jet (b-16715) last year from SIN to TPE on seat 8A, and it was also my first time in C cabin, it was awesome
i believe that Eva air also has the 787s as well. the 777 is definitely dated but they do have a newer fleet
I love that airline Taiwan to LA was wonderful,the food ,the attention is the number airline
Last time I was at TBIT/LAX was 2014, which is 10 years ago and TBIT was still under major renovations, so looks like it's now finally done

Regarding transportation to lax... you may want to try flyaway next time. cheap and direct from union station or van nuys
Great video. You are the first reviewer I know who has called out the lack of storage space in the EVA 777 J seats. Well done.
EVA catering is rather meh (it's the first Asian carrier I've been on to really screw up rice) although that burger looked better than the bbq pork sandwich or chicken and rice "burger" given out in PE on my recent flights. Your reaction to your arrival meal starter matched my reaction to my arrival meal.

Yeah the food wasn't great, EVA air has been skating by with this low quality for some time. Really glad to see more competition like Starlux entering the market.
The catering in the US is not very good, not the airlines fault.
@@paulready8897 The worst catering was out of Taipei. Out of the US it wasn't very good, but out of Taipei it was either barely edible or completely inedible. Lesson learned. When flying out of TPE on EVA always stock up at the TPE McDonalds if you are flying economy or premium economy. If EVA can't do decent catering out of their home base, it is their fault.

Nice video. It’s a shame that EVA air standards have went down. Was hoping to fly with them, but they are more expensive to fly with than other airlines, so for the money I would rather fly with Singapore airlines or Starlux. Nice slippers, most other airlines if you get slippers they are paper ones, good for one use.

Pity that there were no compression socks, but EVA’s eye glass cloth is very thoughtful.
You are really easy to watch; it’s like talking to my bud. I flew biz on EVA a couple of times right before the pandemic hit, from SFO to Taipei. The FA’s were super nice. One of them secretly gifted me a brand new EVA tablecloth after I highly complemented EVA’s signature table cloth. I hope you fly Taiwan’s new Skylux soon and do a review in your easy laid-back style. By the way, which airlines issue compression socks in their first and biz sections? I guess I don’t fly enough premium cabins to know, lol.

I might flight Skylux next year on the same LAX route. They partnered with Alaska so I can use their miles.
I've flown EVA, ANA, JAL, Asiana and I'm pretty sure they've all included the compression socks. At least I think they did, I normally change into those to keep my own socks fresh when landing. So I think that's why I noticed that maybe they forgot this time?
I fly Cathay Pacific and Eva from SFO to HK and tapei about 5 trip a yr Eva always offer me upgrade to business class from encontro for extra charge if seat available but Cathay offer me free upgrades because I fly so much with them a yr instead of empty business class seat they fill them up with frequent member .

Just flew to Taiwan few mos ago and they didn't have the picture taking at the gate.
The flight you took has the best arrival time, right before dinner.
Unfortunately like you said for people who don't live in L.A. they have no idea how BAD traffic is.
One of the freeways you showed is the one I take ev day and yeah it's THAT Bad !
And now even when you reach the concourse area before the terminals, there's at least ANOTHER 30-45 mins wait cuz of the bottleneck traffic.
No choice but to take the midnight departing flights.
People say EVA is cost- cutting on certain services, maybe getting rid of menu is one of them.
Lack of a menu is weird considering EVA used to put out elaborate, embroidered menus in business class.

That is not a picture taking device but a face recognition scanner which compare your scanned picture with your passport's picture.
So when you booked with points did you contact Avianca to book or Eva air? Is Avianca the best ratio for points transfer with the star alliance network?
The Cheeseburger actually looks legit. They had to assemble that on-board, it wasn't a squished mess and the patty looked flame grilled and thick.
flown them many times in the past. great service but the seats and ife are outdated. if im going to taiwan they are my third choice behind ANA and starlux.

The service & food quality provided in Eva Airline business class have deteriorated a lot. I have switched to Starlux airline business class.

Yes you can take the bus into the airport.
No most amenity kits EVER include compression socks. 😅 just cheap-o socks.

I enjoy your commentary and your detailed experience. However I feel like once the actual flight itself started, you rushed through everything. I don't think the airport experience prior to boarding needs to be showcased as much.
