That blue screen thing popped up for me after my computer froze and i had to force it to power down to restart it. I called the warranty people and they directed me to shut it down, unplug everything, hold the power button for a minute, then turn it back on by putting in the power chord, then put the previous additions back on. Worked like a charm! He said something about too many ions making it act weird? idk i’m not a scientist lol. hope this helps someone else

I was trying this method for my Inspiron 15 7577 to get it back to its factory image, but when it gets to the point where it downloads the data, it stays at 100% for "Preparing to download" and 1% for "Overall" for roughly 2 minutes, then kicks out saying "Unable to locate all system content to download. Please check your network connection and try again." The thing is that I was connected to the internet. I even waited until the WiFi icon in the upper-right corner said Connected before going to Restore System.

The support assist os recovery automatically creates a partition for you there when it runs and sets up everything. The oem image i guess you have to create recovery partition for that using windows 'create a recovery drive'

You should have two drives listed in Drive Options, you'll know what is what by the size of the partitions or unallocated space. Delete all partitions on the SSD and leave the other HDD drive alone. You will then install Windows 10 on your HDD without touching your data drive. Note though if the HDD previously had Windows 10 on it alongside data, you may get a dual boot by doing this...

It will activate so long as you have a Dell system with the on board chip that stores the original product key. The systems are usually 2014 and later. I have a 2013 dell latitude E 6530 that required an activation product key the first time that I installed windows 10 on it. When I went to upgrade my wife’s latitude E 5540 which was built in 2014 the windows 10 installation went right to the license agreement as it was able to grab the windows 8.1 product key that originally shipped with that machine.

You should be able to get into factory reset by restarting computer and hitting F12 I believe before windows screen loads Restore is in there and I believe it restores computer to the way it was shipped to you from factory It will reformat all drives and all files will be lost unless you do a back up

I only tried it this way once as it installed English US opposed to English UK. If you are having issues, use the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool to make a Windows 10 Bootable USB and then clean install with it. Then use Dell Update or Dell Command Update to get your system drivers.

If you are don't have encryption enabled such as bitlocker (not present in Windows 10 Home) and want to recover files from an installation that is not bootable I would advise using a Linux Fedora Live USB to copy all your files to an external drive. Both sets of installation media should automatically input the OEM key embedded in the systems UEFI BIOS. I usually use the Microsoft media opposed to the Dell media.

A little late But, yes, it erase all partitions since the "restore point" option almost never works, so the only asnwer is reinstall to fabric.

Yes all you need is the Dell Service Tag. However I usually prefer just to use the Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft.

Be careful when upgrading the OS make sure you have your computers Drivers before you start.

No it is a small ISO that downloads Windows setup files from Dell servers and thus needs internet connection.
