- I have a build planned for this over the winter and wanted to get some base hits to see what we gain with a cam swap and headers or a cam swapped 6.0 with headers.

2007 Buick Rainer CXL Plus 5.3l is no slouch either very underrated.
I have the same suv. I put a ls7 cam in it and had it tuned. 325 whp. Ran awesome all summer. Just blew it. Don't know why but one piston blew apart. I'm not sure how I'm going to rebuild this. Might go 6.0 iron block and delete the AWD.
If you don't live in the Snowbelt, the AWD delete is a great idea! I'd also DEFINITELY do the 6.0L swap- from personal experience, find a reputable Transmission shop who can put something like an adjustable valve body in the trans to firm up the shifts. I'd also invest in a trans cooler as well. You'll be pleasantly surprised with the results on just those two Mods! Too bad we here in the comments can't see your build- I'd like to do something similar, but, with AWD with beefier parts.
I’m building one this year as well, but I’m staying with the 5.3 as it’s a lot better with boost.
This winter I'm going to be throwing on the parts I already have and keep the 5.3 in there while also try to shed a few hundred pounds off this 4,700lb heavy thing.

Not bad for stock though. Once the mods go in then it will definitely wake up!
If you plan on driving it hard like in this video you may want to look into the oil pump pickup tube relocation kit because you will end up spinning a bearing if not
Yeah I'm for sure going to be doing the oil pan baffle mod while the pan is off.
Pcm of NC has the pickup tube relocation kit which is different than the baffle mod
Yeah I've seen their kit(they're going to be doing the tune), $329 is a bit much when the baffle and an extra quart have worked for everyone I've seen try it. And it's basically free.
@@josephcarlson1774 A Listen to this! Also, do everything your power to get rid of the Displacement On Demand. The high mileage early blocks tend to oval out the lifter jackets and allow random and sudden drops in oil pressure. This phenomenon killed my LH6. I'm in the process of procuring another engine for my 97X, but funds are stretched wildly thin across my projects, LOL!
For sure, I have everything to delete the DOD, along with a good size cam going into the LH6
Gears would make a huge difference 1 and 2 gear are long

how many hp?
Factory rating is 315hp at the crank, with the 93 octane tune it had, it was probably around 325hp at the crank.

Sorry, Dude, you do not see a 9-7x Aero everyday, they only made 552 of them. The Aero has the Corvette LS2 engine.
