    Fast, easy, and uses very little yarn. I made this yesterday, and added a pom to the top. It fits great - my new fav hat!

    2021, you are awesome. The only yarn wizard I have been able to follow. Your instructions easy to understand and I can keep up with the speed you crochet at. Have also watched your shorts on types of stiches. 2 hats down and many, Christmas gifts, to go! I love that it is a project you can actually finish in one day !

    I noticed that too. (More than 16) I had the hat done and pulled it all out. Lol! It was the second round. Make sure you connect sooner and only have eight. I had nine and it threw the whole hat off. Now I’m sitting here with a pile of yarn and I’m going to try again. Joy of crochet and counting stitches... I can’t wait to conquer this hat. 🙋🏼

    Very nice! In the beginning and in the round, are you putting your hook in the actual stitch or in the chain one spaces in-between the stitches?

    • @NoThisISPenguin
      @NoThisISPenguin 6 лет назад +4

      BeYou4You this is what I’m not sure about too. I started the 4th round before noticing it didn’t look like she was putting them in the chain one spaces. That’s the only thing I wish was explained a little more, otherwise it’s been easy to follow/watch

    • @menahomberg
      @menahomberg 4 года назад +1

      @@GleefulThings . that's fine. We all hold our yarn differently in a way that's comfortable for us. I usually just do it behind my pink, over my second and middle finger, and behind my index finger. That's comfortable for me and the way that I was taught when I learned how to crochet but then again, we all hold our yarn in a way that's comfortable for us.

    Hi in the beginning for when round 2 is over you said it should measure 5 inches across. Mine is only 4 inches. I’m using 9mm crochet hook and size 6 super bulky yarn. Why is it a inch shorter than what you said?

    • @GleefulThings
      @GleefulThings  6 лет назад

      Hi! You probably crochet tighter than I do. To get the correct gauge, you could try using a larger hook or just loosen up your tension.

      @mortalia 7 лет назад +1

      You're saying to DC in *every* stitch from round 2 on. It's not 100% clear that you're not counting the chain one spaces from Round 1 as stitches. I think this is why so many people are having problems.

      I know this was awhile ago but from round three she actually not crocheting in every stitch like she says to do it’s every other stitch I had to undo my round three when I realised what she was doing she then does this in the continuing rounds so when she says to go in the next stitch she means every other xx

  • @menahomberg
    @menahomberg 4 года назад

    Interesting, I never considered double crochet to be beginner-friendly. I always considered double crochet to be an advanced beginner and single crochet to be beginner-friendly.
    I think I can see why it's considered beginner-friendly because it uses a chunky yarn which is easier to see the stitches and a large hook to make it quicker and because it uses a slip stitch to join so you know where the beginning of the round is.

    • @ACrunner88
      @ACrunner88 5 лет назад +1

      Not that this is still relevant for you, but for future newbies to crochet, she (and actual crochet patterns) refer to the space under your "chain one" as chain space. So each "stitch" is exclusively the stitch above the double crochet. I'm new to crochet, and was a little confused, but also recently had a pattern describe this space similarly. Hope that Makes sense
