Well now I’ve also ordered a collectors edition and convinced my husband to play the extra copy himself. It’s ridiculously good. I’ve gotten all of vanillawares previous games and thought they were ok. This is the first I immediately love.
Yeah, I feel the same about Vanillaware. They make really beautiful games, but this is the first one that has just blown me away. I initially turned my nose up at it because of the auto-battler system. Then I decided to just give it an actual chance, and 5-6 hours later, I had stayed up way too late, and then ordered the Monarch Edition. I'm 15 hours into the game and loving it.
I like this game a lot. I also like the overall feel of the tactics and battlefield. It not being turn based actually makes the world feel alive and that there are multiple troop movements all happening at the same time. Fire emblem has that problem where it feel a bit rigid and it doesn't give you that sense of a battlefield with many things happening at once.
I really hope Nintendo collabs with Vanillaware to make it happen. Apparently VW's CEO had to pay money out of his own pocket to fund this game which is odd because you'd think Sega/Atlus would have helped. I hope Nintendo can help fund their future projects like they did with Octopath and SMT V.

it's all about unit and squad preparation. before fighting, make sure your tactics are set up properly or else you lose the fight. squad complexity goes up the higher lvl'd the enemy units are from you. at first, you can only have a 2-3 man squad. When you fight with endgame units, they are always a 5-man squad that synergizes with each other most of the time. Adore this game so much. I do also hope we get ports of the cult classic Vanillaware games 'Muramasa: The Demon Blade' and 'Dragon's Crown' in near future ❤
I don't really think the story is an issue. The fact that it's a collection of interwoven local tales as opposed to a giant central tale isn't a bad thing; it really matches the gameplay perfectly. It's a story about a prince liberating the world, and he does it one skirmish at a time, in whatever order makes sense. If they had tried to cram an epic fantasy narrative into the game, it would feel at odds with the core gameplay loop.
Big think for hardcore srpg enthusiasts, this game is REALLY easy. Once you figure out the game's systems it crumbles so fast under it so don't go in expecting a nail biting experience for anyone that is seasoned in higher diffiulty srpgs.
I wish I could still find a physical copy of this game for Switch where I'm at. The ones I found has it's price skyrocketed even for the pre-owned ones.
First look, it feels an awful like Ogre Battle in a number of ways. That's not a bad thing, I have been hoping for a new Ogre Battle game in years. So it looks like I will give this a go. Thanks for the review.
It took awhile, but the demo has started to click with me. It's a bit annoying in the sense that I've a lot of work on atm so can't really get rn (and even if I could, the price is a bit expensive; Atlus really takes Switch tax to another level), but I really do want to play it in the future! Edit: for some reason RUclips keeps deleting my replies, so hopefully this edit works: on the Switch eShop (and physical as well) I've noticed that Atlus games tend to be a few pounds more expensive than most big budget Switch games, which is weird to me when looking at the price of their games on other systems like the PS5
It is the same price as other switch games. What are you talking about? Edit: Cannot confirm anything about the pound being of a higher price (USD is my currency). Very odd. Wonder if if it has more to do with a UK gov policy?

Adore this game so much. I do also hope we get ports of the cult classic Vanillaware games 'Muramasa: The Demon Blade' and 'Dragon's Crown' in near future ❤
dont forget odin sphere! that game is phenominal!
This game fucking RULES. I’m enjoying this perhaps more than any fire emblem game I’ve ever played.
Been playing this for a while but still watching this review. This game is so great ❤❤❤❤❤
I’m going to have to buy this aren’t I? Looks amazing
Can't find a copy right now crazy.
When Brigandine Legend of Forsena and Aegis Rim had a kid! And, It’s great!
Still need to get my hands on that BRIGANDINE on switch.
This review is great. It's the best I've seen at explaining the tactics, thank you!
Wish I bought the collector’s edition
It is the first time I heard about this game, and I am definitely buying it. I am big fan of Fire Emblem!
I so wanted to play it, but I had not idea it was an auto-battler. I'm so glad it had a demo so I could give it a try and realize it was not for me.
This game is sold out everywhere its sold.
When I grow up, I wanna write like Alana always rights 💖
Its unreal how good this game is
Gameplay is 100% worth it. But story seems to be a little simple.
Helpful review, thank you. This one is on my list!
Amazing game. Got the collectors edition and it’s worth it
Aaaaaah Im so excited for this one
Got this game completey on a whim. I dont regret anything. This is legit a masterpiece.
Tactics Orgre LUCT pulled it off. There was a bigger plot mixed in with the liberation/conquest storylines that game had.
I went from not being excited for this game, to spending 40 hours in it. This game is so.. so so good! And addictive.
Big think for hardcore srpg enthusiasts, this game is REALLY easy. Once you figure out the game's systems it crumbles so fast under it so don't go in expecting a nail biting experience for anyone that is seasoned in higher diffiulty srpgs.
it's a good intro for anyone at srpg

From not knowing about its existence a week ago to absolute 💕
I wish I could still find a physical copy of this game for Switch where I'm at. The ones I found has it's price skyrocketed even for the pre-owned ones.
First look, it feels an awful like Ogre Battle in a number of ways. That's not a bad thing, I have been hoping for a new Ogre Battle game in years. So it looks like I will give this a go. Thanks for the review.
Im not a big strategy game guy but after 13 sentinels, Ill pick up anything Vanillaware does
It took awhile, but the demo has started to click with me.
@@justsomeguywithsunglasses8418 most big priced Switch games are around £49.99; Atlus games are £54.99 on the eShop. It’s not a massive price increase, but it’s noticeable imo
@@justsomeguywithsunglasses8418 on the eShop, most big priced games are £49.99, but for Atlus games I've noticed they're priced at £54.99. It's not much, but it's noticeable imo

I don’t normally do a lot of rpg’s, but this is about to go on the must get list..
Played it for 3 days straight, a must buy ❤
I couldn't get through 20 minutes of the demo. I am glad everyone is having a great time. Its just not for me.
I though the demo was already the full but is not. This is an amazing game for people who loves SRPGs.
I reeeeaaaaally want this but budget is tight, sadly. Playing the demo.
This reminds me a bit of Ogrebattle 64, one of the best games ever made, so that's saying something.
Sounds like Dragon Force
Looks amazing All vanillaWare games are too good. I will get this and play at work !
So there's a timer for the battles?
Yes
Good way to reduce “smash head on brick wall until profit” strategy.
Most battles rarely causes to near the timers limit it’s similar to VW’s previous game, “13 sentinels aegis rim.” it goes without saying if you are too pessimistic, you’ll risk the timer running out. normal difficulty you’ll never have to worry about that and even tactical difficulty isn’t that much of a problem either.
The timer is one of my nitpicks but its still a fantastic game.
To think a Facebook ad would lead me to find this gem 👌🏽👌🏽
Oh another Zion! Hi! Awesome vid btw. Loved it
Where's the Muramasa and Grim Grimoire in that Vanillaware lineup? That PC copy is nice.
Grim Grimoire is on the Switch.
