Great review as always 👏 I've just been lucky enough to drive a puma st myself and was impressed. Got back from the test drive and had a go in a st line puma which is more my budget and even that was good still puts a smile on your face .but you do get a little bit smaller mega because of the hybrid battery. For me the st puma was amazing but I think the seats and hard ride what get a bit much over time

Ordered the puma st in mean green with the polished diamond cut alloys like ones in video, ordered in April so delivery expected around middle of September,can't wait so excited, colour of this car looks stunning, looks good inside too an the 72plate ones have the new ford performance seats an red stitching on interior an red accents round the air vents 👌👍🏴
The Puma is basically a Fiesta+, but priced nearer to Focus levels, and that doesn’t sit well with me. In my opinion, if you want practicality + ST fun then the Focus ST is the obvious choice - it’s bigger and more spacious, has the same / more inside tech, has a larger boot, still has the handling characteristics of a lower down car, and comes with a hell of a lot more power. It’s not that I don’t like the Puma, it’s that I don’t understand it’s position in the market. A 5-door Fiesta ST3 is £25-27k RRP depending on colour and extras. A Puma ST with the Performance Pack is £29.5k-31k RRP. (Btw, the auto boot isn’t standard). I don’t personally see what you’re getting for the extra £4k-ish. Some digital dials, which don’t really add anything, a slightly larger interior, a gimmicky boot and...reduced handling and a slightly slower acceleration time.
You're right. But I think it's a style thing now. Everyone seems to want a mini SUV, even if they don't know why and it doesn't make any sense.
Not following your thoughts, i bought the puma ST for €27.200 ordered brand new. If i would have chosen the focus ST, it would have been €39.500 discount of... Also other engine, yearly taxes have big difference in Belgium, Puma ST would cost me now €240/year. The focus would cost €553/year and first tax for bringing new car on the road (called 'biv') cost €1244, the Puma ST first tax is €440.
Also insurance lot of difference in price... Focus is at a whole other level wich can't be compared with the fiësta ST or Puma ST
@@St3y_focused_250hp The figures I gave were in GBP as that's the only reference point I have. If things are different in your country, then fair enough, but (at the time I posted) the figures provided were accurate for those of us in the UK (such as JBCTR).

@@St3y_focused_250hp Have a look at my Fiesta videos. The Puma has the same engine. I had Revo software on my Fiesta and it was fantastic.
@@JBCTR i know it's the same engine, but I know that in England, the tuning for a Ford is at a higher level than in Belgium 😅 i heard also a lot of Pumaspeed, so don't know anymore wich one to chose, but I currently driving a Ford Kuga st line 2019 with the 1.5 150hp EcoBoost, so the 200hp will be much more fun to drive so I think I will keep it stock at least for 1 or 2 years and later on go for stage 1. Btw, I love your videos and your filming skills. Keep going man 💪💪💪

Beautiful looking car especially in green, interior looks nice too, fords are all about driving pleasure,handling and reliability,being at one with the car, I would rather have this ford puma st in green than any other car with a plush interior,to me it looks perfect outside and inside,all the car you ever need, seriously want one for next car in green looks amazing,great job by ford making us a performance small SUV that's good for family, spacious enough for camping an mountain bike in back with seats down an wheels off,and for everyday driving an some spirited driving too👌 ticks all the boxes for me, this is best looking small SUV I've seen can't wait to get one 💚💚👍👌
Yes bec the bottom end is base on a fiesta st they just put a different top on it the only thing I don’t like as I have seen one at a Ford is the cap on the wheel arches they should lower it more then they did but part from that looks very nice 👍 great review mate keep up the good work

Great one Jonny. I tried out a MHEV Puma to possibly upgrade from my MK8 Fiesta and it’s a nice car. I’d love the ST but insurance is astronomical😔 Cheers, Oliver
Believe it or not, the ST is cheaper to insure than the MHEV. I had the MHEV from launch and then moved to the ST a few months ago and shocked me at the difference.
I was quite impressed with the MHEV fiesta when I reviewed it. I imagine the Puma is more of the same

The facelift ST due early next year will likely have both of those things.

They should have offered the orange the green and the nitro blue as normal options for the fiesta. Would have made my decision much harder tho.
Digital dash? Nah m8 i like analog much more. As an option maybe.
@@Mr.Marbles it would of been nice to upgrade to the digital display imo or have the option to. And ford should of gave us them colours.. but then again they see it as hmmm £££... We charge mad prices for one colour and only make 500 and 250.. cars..

@@JBCTR cool I've driven both and I find the build quality is not as good as my mk8 fiesta st but I think I've the steering as it a bit lighter and the puma is more practical

Can you elaborate on why/how the build quality seems poor?
Just felt a bit flimsy all round. The exhaust was wonky as an example. You can see it during the revving.
Bort 1 ...drive in ok so far...no problems yet ..oh don't forget to push fob twice to open all doors lol...
You can change that in the settings :)
the boot is perfect for doing the washing up on the drive to work when you are late, buy a fiesta with the money left over spec it up and anything left have a good holiday ford has missed it yet again

I'm a proud owner of a Fiesta ST and I'd never pick this Puma. Looks are based on personal preference (even though in my opinion looks awful), it's a bad copy of a Fiesta and I have some serious doubts about manufacturing quality (unlike other models).
I own a Puma ST and i do like the car. However I can confirm that the interior quality is suffering. Bits here and there that isn’t glued 100%.. That being said, the complaints do end there. It really is just a bigger Fiesta ST but bigger boot, space etc.
@@stevendufour What I’ve noticed is the door cards vibrating if there’s too much bass. That’s poor. If you’re going to put a hi-spec audio system in then at least make sure the trim can handle it. That parcel shelf is a joke and the glove box feels like it’s going to part company with the dash when you open it. Apart from that, I have no issue with the build. Love the boot but more than anything, love the way the car brings a smile to my face.
@@couleddie I agree, and despite the flaws it has, it also brings loads of smiles on my face. The fun factor is very high and at the end, that's what matters most I think. :)
I’m sorry but I never liked these new style Pumas 💩. I had a 1.7 VCT green Puma back in the day and that was an awesome car. Ford have basically fekked up the design on these new style Pumas and made them look like every other SUV on the road. Their design team ALL need to be sacked - the Puma is meant to be a coupe and NOT an SUV…..💩💩🤷🏻♂️

Couldn’t agree any less. It doesn’t look like other SUV models (I’m at pains to call it an SUV anyway). Yes, the original Puma was a coupe. But the market doesn’t want coupes now so Ford have adapted the vehicle to suit what the market demands. Why not? It’s design pays respect to the original Puma. The majority of buyers, like me, couldn’t care less about the original Puma. It’s a different generation of car. Ford really haven’t ‘fecked’ up. They’ve got it right. To me, the latest Fiesta ST looks dull whereas the Puma ST looks special without being garish and distasteful. That’s why I went for it over the Fiesta and 4 months down the line, I’m glad I did. It’s an absolute hoot and really is a joy to drive every journey.
