    The Puma has the same fantastic engine as the Fiesta ST but with the Fiesta being such good fun to drive, the Puma has a LOT to live up to. Let's check it out!

    I have had Fords in the past including Fiesta and Focus ST’s and they were always great to drive. In fact I had less issues with them then I had with VW and BMW! I just wish Ford would up their game with the interior quality!

    I know it’s a fiesta floor plan and st engine, the puma st is more like a young family mans hot hatch like a 5 door focus st was. Now the focus st is best part of 50k , you may find more heading towards the puma st. 200 bhp is enough... Great review as always, as good as any of the big UK car magazines 👍👍

      LOVE that colour. They actually had that colour on the last Ford press car and changed it to this one. Fair play for going with the green!

      I've ordered 1in fantastic red. It was about £6000 more in the uk but as I wanted something a bit bigger it's perfect. Also insurance is quite a bit cheaper. Don't forget, the Puma will hold its price better too.

    Brilliant review Mark. Bug on the dash, it starts to pixilate as you accelerate 😆 😆, looks like a lot of fun. That boot box would be handy for sports gear especially on wet days. Those high placed screens are dangerous I think in accidents where second shunt involved. Enjoyed that review 👏

      @@NobbyOnCars This ST or a Skoda RS? kinda apples and oranges I know, but they are same price range, same power (as the diesel) and same target audience ( Ultimate Dad's Car) This looks more fun but skoda more quality and economy 🤔

    That fuel economy figure sounds pretty high, even for a car with about 200hp, with the car being relatively light, also aren't modern turbos supposed to be all about efficiency?...
    While i know it's a car from a different company and in different configurations (and i'm only referencing it in particular as it's the car i want the most and look up regularly), but the indeed automatic only* 2.5L naturally aspirated "Skyactive" engine with 194hp** in the top spec Mazda 6 (and again indeed, with cylinder deactivation) is quoted as using "only" 7.4L per 100km.
    While the 2.0L manual with "only" 165hp and without cylinder deactivation, in the mid spec car is quoted at 6.7L per 100km...
    *Maybe Mazda's figured are just overly optimistic, maybe the in most accounts softly geared auto in the top spec and their Skyactive tech are the reason, but it sounds odd :) .
    **Which is pretty low power for a 2.5L, you'd expect more like 220+, it's probably pretty conservatively tuned, similarly to how the base 2.0L 6 is "only" putting out 145hp (also interestingly, the 145hp 2.0L is quoted at the same 6.7L per 100km as the 165hp) and Mazda's old diesels were putting out 150 and 184hp from probably the same basic 2.2L engines.

      Better MPG is possible I'd imagine, I just didn't take it easy. Those Mazda figures are without doubt overly optimistic - I've driven most of their engines that you've mentioned. The petrol 165bhp is around 8-9 kms/L. I've a review waiting to be edited of the 100th anniversary 6 with the 2.5L engine too!

    • @tanner1ie
      @tanner1ie 2 года назад

      @@NobbyOnCars Indeed I want to hear what you've to say about the top spec...
      Generally people say, it's great except for the damn automatic gearbox, though it apparently doesn't rev as nicely as the 2.0L and Cars Ireland in particular said its' paddles might as well be decoration.
      Of course the "Platinum Lux" has a few features over the "Homura", the latter I'd probably buy over the "Lux" just because of the automatic (though if I'd more money than sense, I'd say "give me the Lux, with a manual gearbox fitted from the factory, I don't care what it costs", or better yet "here's a few millions to build a new MPS and to see what the hell is going on with the RX-Vision!"
      (Off topic, it's annoying how Mazda have changed the 6's names and specs about five times in the last three years! 🤔😀🤘)
