Looking forward to seeing more of the process. I'd like to see how a pen changes its appearance at each step - even starting with the boring raw ebonite! :) Oh, and those Leonardo's really got my interest up as well! Thanks.
Very informative. It's interesting how so many companies choose different names...maybe they don't want to potentially infringe on any copyright? Doesn't make comparing products any easier to comprehend... Love the look of that orange tamenuri! It reminds me of the transparency of ikura salmon roe
They just want to differentiate. Like every product - points of parity, and points of difference. Copyrights (actually rather different IP rights in this case) have little to do with that, unless any maker managed to register one of the names as a trademark, and as a "word", what could be really difficult (those names are for centuries).

Michal - curious - since I have on of your Leonardo Urushi (aka tamenuri) pens. What color was the raw, original ebonite body?
Cool, good catch ;) Congrats. It was black. Black ebonite is the strongest, all colours make it weaker, so for urushi we use only black ebonite.
Brilliant as always! Can’t wait to see that slanted ebonite pen finished
