Also, try aquafaba if you want a vegan replacement for egg whites! It's the reserved chickpea liquid and it works well.
You can get aquafaba by buying canned chickpeas.The yellow liquid in the can is aquafaba. You can whip them into stiff peaks just like egg whites, and they work great for sponge cakes, meringues, and even macarons!

To make a vegan sponge I usually use an apple vinegar and soy milk. It looks just like regular sponge ;)
Good morning, th you 4 yr suggestion of using apple vinaigre and soy but for a total beginner like me, would you pl give very specific measurements? and also, when to add it to the recipe. Does using this substitution change baking time or temperature?
Yes. I tried a vegan sponge cake recipe using vinegar and soy milk before and it tasted really good

I just want to warn everyone to make sure you're getting the right egg replacer from Bobs Red Mill. The package needs to say gluten free. They make another kind with soy flour, wheat gluten and corn syrup solids.

Finally, someone thorough enough to not tell you to just toss a half of a banana into a recipe but tells you exactly what the measurement is per egg. Also the first person I saw so far that said the Chia egg substitute can be made with it either ground or whole, not to mention being honest enough to say even be sponsored eggs replacement product might still give you some trouble with light and airy cakes, etc. Good video.

I’ve always felt like avocado has a bit of an eggy flavor so I’m definitely going to try that out as an egg replacer!! I use the flax egg but I’m so happy to know there are other options out there :D

Thanks so much for the tips on eggs. Now I'm excited to start baking again. As for lift in cakes, I've heard that Perrier instead of water helps with that. I'm going to combine both techniques and hope for magic. Please try it as well and share your experience and knowledge with us for knowledge is power. Stay blessed.
Which one works best to replace an egg? How good is the chia seed one? With the flax seed one I didn't get good results.
We're you saying that a Puree was simply something Mashed up with a Fork? Would you add any more liquid or anything else to a Sweet Potato to call the resulting 1/4-Cup a Puree? Like how thin should that be? Thank you for your advice!

Thank you for the info! (I took notes, lol). Are there substitutes for oil or butter to keep a recipe lower fat? And one other question while I'm here 🙂... can you substitute regular bobs mill whole wheat flour for your typical all purpose flour?

+Erika W I haven't done much experimenting with their WW flour since I'm gluten-free, but I imagine it would work! And you can follow the same rule of thumb with the fruit for also replacing oil. But I wouldn't suggest doing eggs AND all the oil in one recipe! I think it will likely come out really gummy 💕

You can substitute shortening with an equal amount of cooked mashed beans. White beans for lighter color, black beans for chocolate brownies etc.

Thanks for the tip on the amount of flax eggs. Have you considered using baking soda, vinegar and aquafaba in combination with flax eggs for extra texture and lift?
I'm a absolutely total beginner in baking anything at all so I'd be ever so grateful if you could give us very specific measurements of each ingredient. Perhaps you could also include which type of baked goods you've used these 3 ingredients in. Would using yr 3 ingredients require us to change the rest of the receipe in any way? Cooking temp? Yr help would be very much appreciated.

I'm able to have eggs in baking, but not on their own! I've found out that you can replace scrambled eggs on their own, with tofu; but, I just wish that there could be something to replace eggs with in terms of omelets, quiches, frittatas, benny's, etc.!

you can use avocado with a tsb of water for each avocado beaten together it replaces the oil and eggs in a boxed cake. if you are going to use avocado as a egg replacement in other things and need that rise add a little yeast to the the product let rise a little then cook.

And now that I've got bobs mill on my mind LOL, I wonder if you can make Italian panelle sandwiches from their chickpea powder. It's really just puffy fried chickpea "squares" put on some great buns with optional ricotta & tomato sauce, like Joe's on Avenue U in Brooklyn. If Bob's milll can put out a recipe for THAT, it would not only be a first but a killer recipe!
About the levening action, I recently saw a nice tip about using Apple cider vinegar as the acidic ingridient for the baking powder and baking soda to react to, and allow the baked good to rise. I have yet to try it, but it might be interesting. I saw it in an egg-replacement video on the "Brownble" RUclips channel
I’ve tried that before and it definitely does work! I think it depends on the actual item you’re baking, but most of the time I’d say it’s worth adding in 😍 you honestly can’t taste it at all!

In my country ground flax seed is forbidden cause it’s deemed poisonous or something, so I can’t use flaxseeds for baking :/ I’m making banana bread, will chia seeds work?

What shampoo do you use? Your hair always looks super silky!:)
Amaranth seeds (1 cup to 2 cups boiling water), 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed, 1 tablespoon ground chia seeds, 1 teaspoon salt, and then you put fruits or vegetables salad on top. Takes 5 minutes to cook in Instant Pot. If you don't want fruits or vegetables, you can add a dash of cinnamon and honey.
I use tofu for quiche recipes. Not bad!

Hey Alyssa, I tried to make big eggless red velvet cake (12" X 18") for big party, failed 3 times using 3 different egg substitute like EnerG egg replacer, baking soda n vinegar, made from scratch.. nothing worked out, 1st too soft, 2nd try - in middle not baked, 3rd try cake did not baked, it was too runny!!! I did lot of online research...Can u help me on this!!! TIA..
Mamta Patel sometimes taking an old towel, cutting and sewing it into a strip, and wetting it and wrapping it around the edge of the pan will help keep the edge of the cake from baking faster than the middle
