In this video, we are taking a look at the new GoPro Hero 8 Black that was introduced by GoPro. I do an unboxing to take a look at what comes inside. We take a look at the new form factor and design changes. I do a quick run-through of the setup procedure after powering it on for the first time. There are some important firmware updates that need to be installed, so do skip that step. Lastly, we take a look at the new menu layout and how to access some of the new features such as Hypersmooth 2.0, TimeWarp 2.0 and the new Video night-lapse mode.

You made taking the screw off look so easy. Mine wouldn't budge until I got a screw driver. I wasn't sure how to remove the base. Thanks for showing how.
Even though I have a Hero 7 Black, I traded in a Hero Session 5 to save $100 off the new Hero 8. Received the shipping notice today. Only a two day turnaround from GoPro to send out the new one, that was pretty impressive. What I like about the new Hero 8 is 4k being available in more views now, and the improved stabilization. I like to use a GoPro sometimes in place of a gimbal. It just depends on where and what I'm shooting. I use them on a bicycle, and also on the beach.
I like that night lapse mode and also hypersmooth 2.0 and amazing video👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I am ridiculously excited for this camera, its improvements, and its mods. (will be my first Go Pro. Was going to get the DJI Osmo Action but glad waited to see what GP was going to release)
I’ve only had mine for 24 hours but so far I’m quite pleased. I think it is a worthwhile upgrade. I can’t wait for the mods to become available later this fall.

Just ordered mine today- can’t wait to get it. I use the Hero 7 as my primary camera, so I was going to wait until the ‘mods’ were available, but after watching some unboxings (including yours) with the lenses, the quick menus, etc... I have a stand alone lav mic that I’ll use til the mods are available.
I’d really like to see you do a test of it in less than bright sunlight with hypersmooth on. The H7 suffered in less than optimal conditions, & I’d like to see if the 8 has improved.

I want to hear about its night video mode since I'll probably get this Hero 8 Black to shoot night drive POV for cars (I create auto/car content). I recently shot a night drive using the Hero 7 Black and yet to post it, but so far, the footage looks great! I'll check back again soon for your in-depth review.
What settings do you use with the Hero 7 Black for night time?

Great vid as always...and of course the dimensions are all different so all my accessories won’t fit. I’ll probably keep my current H7 and just get the H8 as an extra GoPro.

My first gopro was the Hero 3+Silver, thought it was time to upgrade and I just got my Hero 8 in the mail! I just wish it actually came with instructions on how the camera works since compared to my old one its night and day haha

Is used the original battery from my Hero 6 in my new Hero 8 but she dosnt even boot up with that battery ! what do i wrong ? Only the original Hero 8 battery works for me ;(

Just got my first time ever Go Pro 8 , having a hard time charging it, it will turn on and off and will not charge !! What am I doing wrong pls help
Can you please test GoPro8 as a live streaming cam to be used as a webcam replacement or screencast recording. In short can this be directly connected to computer via USB C (video capture on OBS) and be used for filming

Will the 7 get a software up to match the 8 new Interface layout?? Not sure how I feel about the non-replaceable Lens cap & wide open battery door
I just got the 8 and the wide open battery door is a negative for me, . If the lens is 'Gorilla Glass' like my 5 year old G'z One Commando phone screen, it shouldn't scratch.

use the 7 and i don't see why to upgrade for the moment,the stabilisation on the 7 is good enough for my kind of filming
the GoPro Hero 8 can't change the lens,and the finger joints,i have a bit of fixed feeling about it,it looks so flimsy
and no hdmi port anymore on the 8
overall footage is very similar as the 6 and 7 ,very good quality

So on the 7 I can use on my dash for hours plugged in cause the Ian charging port is on the outside. Now how can i do that on the new 8 cause you have to open battery cover to use the Ian. Won’t the battery fall out or can I remove the battery and still use the camera plugged in

Good question I’m not 100% sure on that I don’t really live stream with my go Pro. I would guess that you don’t but maybe somebody with more experience live streaming can answer your question
