- This video is a compilation of all currently known onboard footage of the Sauber C12 3.5-litre Ilmor-V10 car in 1993. The driver you see in the footage is Karl Wendlinger.
All the engine sounds you hear at the pictures are from the 1993 spec Ilmor-V10.

Wendlinger was very talented. It's a terrible shame he had that career ending crash at Monaco in '94, he was never the same afterwards

We are not Shure Karl stopper with F1 for the crash. He were too strong and weighed 20 kg more than frentzen
I don't know about never the same. Guy went on to dominate the American le mans series and Europe GTS racing with Oreca in the Dodge/Chrysler Viper program.

Very nice car
I was fortunate enough to be at the outside of the old corner when they come over the hill and blast down the back strait. It was just amazing. You could get right up to the wall and the cars came by at full clip. This was the last year(1993) before they re-configured that section, making it safer, but far less exciting, plus you could no longer go along the rowing basin parallel to the strait without a pit pass. I'm glad I got to experience it once though.
Wow, never saw this onboard footage before. It was a good car, eventually scored some points in 1993.
it scored points on it's debut race in Kyalami with Lehto in 5th

Yeah its really surprising, no active suspension on this car either. In this era it was usually that the tracks were extremely bumpy and the lack of power steering made it a really tough ride for the drivers who would feel the vibrations constantly. Not here tho. I do know that in 1993 there were a couple tracks that got resurfaces
Wow. Great rare footage. The C12 is one of my favorite all time F1 cars. And I still wear Joop! cologne to this day.
