I think it represents a teen girl who starts to being more confident about herself and turns into a sexy woman. Thats why she takes off the brakects and change her white underwear to red one.
I also liked the mv more than the song.

When I first watched the MV, I felt that the meaning behind it was confidence in her sexuality. I don't think she was being 'sexy' just to simply be 'sexy'. I admire Hyuna because she gives no fucks, and is confident in herself.
I do agree that the song itself is a step back from Babe, but I loved the vibe of the MV.
Also, If I remember correctly, she showed a bit of her deep voice on some Triple H songs. I love her deep singing voice, so I hope to hear more of it.

Glad someone else took notice. Back in her earlier 4Minute days she sang/rapped in a rather deep voice that always stood out to me. I kind of wish she would go back to it now that there are so many high pitches female rappers in Kpop. She kind of set the trend really. Anyway, a good track to hear her deep voice is Cold Rain by 4Minute.

The MV was rated 15. It makes sense when you think about it. Hyuna didn’t actually show anything. I suggest you check the lyrics or watch it with subtitles on. The main theme of the MV is actually satire I feel like. “Every day I want express myself honestly. I feel like you didn’t.” I quote from lyrics. I don’t feel like this is a step back. This is a step forward. The public hated Hyuna for always doing sexy concept, but When Babe came out, it wasn’t doing well on chart, even though it is not a sexy concept. Also, this is a thanks single for fans. It was not for gaining popularity anyways. As long as fans love it, Hyuna doesn’t care.

I love this video because it really pushes the sexy concept for female idols, like why are male idols humping the floor hip thrusting and being shirtless is acceptable and no one even debates about it, Hyuna is pulling the same type of stuff and is owning it as a woman
what i find interesting is that she's displaying a kind of vulgar sexuality, very in your face and she doesn't bother trying to seduce or allure you, rather it's obviously trying to show you a sexy concept without being stereotypically sexy like you said. idk how to describe it. people say it's a turn off for them but like was it really aiming to allure people with its sexiness in the first place? it's kinda debatable to me personally. it's a rougher and less sweet-innocent-sexy or hot-mature-sexy concept. i personally loved it, not because i found it sexy, but i kinda found it really accurate to my own sexual awakening lol. it wasn't an all blooming like a flower kind of awakening. i don't think it was aimed at men or aimed at anyone really, just her owning her sexuality very frankly. it was sexual in some sense but it wasn't sensual at all. i liked that.
i was also surprised by how hyuna sounded in that pre chorus but i loved it and haters saying she cant be doing stuff like this or that she is being trashy can leave
There was a lot of cool symbolism and subversion going on in the imagery of this video that I really liked, not to mention a very fun song. Kinda annoying that people consistently overlook the deliberate artistic choices in Hyuna's work because they just wanna paint her as a ditzy sexpot...

i think this mv and lyrics is growing up and being sexual being as growing up. at one shot she took her braces and changes her underwear white (which is i rhink represents being innocent) to red (being more sexual and confident). Anyways i love the song and the mv a lot. this is just my opinion ^^

The red underwear is a symbol for a woman's period, actually. Which is why before the green screen panties, before she hits on her butt, you see a fruit type of picture on her butt and the slightly cosmic theme of the green screen panties. The cycle of life that goes on and on every month inside of the fairer sex.
The vocal parts in this song reminded me of her early days with Wonder Girls before the high tone rapping became trendy.
I love Hyuna, she's such a QUEEN. She truly doesn't care about the public's opinion and is a true icon of female empowerment. She's apologetically sexy but still manages to be cute at the same time. There isn't another artist like her in S.Korea which is why her career has lasted so long and she's still extremely successful. I'm ready for 10 more years of Queen Hyuna.

super late but the directors of this mv are LUMPENS! yep, they did sunmi's vids also but they're more known as directors of BTS' stuff: Serendipity, Spring Day, etc. they have a very distinct style so it's quite easy to tell which mvs they've directed before (same like twice's mv director, NAIVE, who also directed the boyz's 'boy' mv and pristin's mvs!!!)

I liked the song but not as much as I wanted to? But it's always refreshing to me to hear her sing. It's definitely not a first listen love. Hyuna is actually a genius and I always enjoy the meaning behind her music videos and songs, it's always hidden criticism for the criticism that she and others receive. Like BABE was her own version of IU's 23. And she cammuflates it with sexy stuff (it's also just how she is and likes to be. Sexy in her own way) to get the exact reactions that criticize her, proving her point. People like her are really important in the industry

I know this isn’t kpop, but could you react to exo’s new Japanese song ‘electric kiss’? I just love your reactions to everything and I love how you have based and structured opinions, they’re very trustful and always my favorite to watch.
Definitely a coming of age story with a side of humor served with the sexy main dish. The “girl” character gains her confidence, then the humor comes at the end when after all she dresses conservatively for school - only to be oblivious to the rips in her jeans exposing her hips. You could also interpret that she knows the jeans are ripped, but that’s not as fun. Hyuna has used the harsh makeup before, but in this context perhaps it’s part of portraying a girl who lacks makeup skill. As for the song, it’s lightweight yet is another one that digs deeper into my ear every time I hear it.

i see all these comments about how thw whole mv is going back and forth confronting the outside view of what beauty and sexuality are and what those things are to her, or to a woman in general, or how it confronts the mind of a girl with the mind of a woman, and i want to add that another things that i feel gets confronted here is pRECISELY her vocals. shes constantly being criticized for "not having a good voice", so i feel like here shes like "look, heres a good voice, now let me do my thing will you?"
like many others here, i dont feel like this was a step backwards at all, or at least not in a negative way. she did say that she felt that doing this was going back to her roots, and i feel like that speaks a lot considering her situation -how shes constantly being told to go back to bubble pop era. and shes just like "but i dont want to". even if its not "progressive" in the general sense, i think its even harder to stay true to what you really want to portray instead of crumbling to the pressure. i liked babe, but i for some reason felt like it wasnt truly her.
shes an incredibly strong woman and artist who does something practically no one else dares to do. shes so important for the industry. shes always pushing at the bounderies and setting a precedent and even if shes not praised by everyone thats okay, because shes happy with what she does and the people who do love her. she deserves the world.

i believe hyuna was really pushing limits to the kpop industry and she’s able to lead the sexy movement so she can help others follow into her footsteps and make the industry and music in general for accepting more sexy concepts that arent man based. i dont think this was a step back at all, i think it was a large step forward for everybody. for her, embracing her sexuality and letting it free, for music in making an addictive tune along with the mv always testing the limits, etc etc. lip and hip was absolutely no step back in my opinion. it may have been a backtrack to her concepts similar to roll deep and red, but its just picking and choosing, yknow? shes a forward thinking woman who is making a real change for sexy concepts and she may have done a song more in the idea of some of her past songs, but it is no way a step back as she takes that experience, puts a new song out, and continues to push it forward to test the boundries put on k-idols when it comes to sexier concepts for women.
