    The ending scene with Yeri firing the crossbow I actually view as part of the act of giving the delivery boy false hope, as you can see the bolt flying past him as he's running. She might have missed deliberately. He also has a bleeding cut on his face from that point on, and maybe the bolt clipped his face.

    • @Daniel-wz3yv
      @Daniel-wz3yv 7 лет назад +363

      That's what i thought as well, she misses the shot deliberately to give him false hope and when he thinks he's safe one of the members get out of the car and kill him, they're literally toying with their prey before finally killing him.

    • @iheartkpop32123
      @iheartkpop32123 7 лет назад +182

      ohhh that makes sense! maybe that's why during the training session they have a member as the target so they can practice their skill at not hitting them but getting it just past them

    • @howareyoumoreofaclownthanme
      @howareyoumoreofaclownthanme 7 лет назад +185

      You also notice that Seulgi, when she was with Irene, had a cut on her face from the razor. I think it's foreshadowing because even though Seulgi has the cut she isn't dead yet- Irene could easily slit her throat from her position. And then who's the most likely culprit who killed the pizza boy? The only girl who had her hair in a ponytail the entire time? Irene.

Also pretty sure the RV fanbase loves this song (myself included). It would be awesome if you did a first listen to this album! The songs are all so unique and different from each other and it would be cool to hear your opinions on them! Red Velvet is known to have awesome B sides so I would recommend you go back and give some a listen. The Russian Roulette album in particular has some amazing songs.

  • @waffletuff1042
    @waffletuff1042 7 лет назад +19

    Here's my theory that I commented on a separate explanation video:
    Maybe after so many murders (at least 28, judging from that last payphone part), perhaps the girls had slowly fallen out of it, and began questioning their actions. I feel like their first murders were probably much more precise and quick, and didn't even require them to get out of their house, unlike this murder.
    In the back of their minds, each member might've secretly wanted the boy to escape and just live his life (explaining the shots of each member running out with him), but they all individually decided that the plan had to be carried out, or else they would most likely be ratted out and arrested. The members clearly let him get away long enough to drive out and reach a public payphone (which was already risky enough, since any passerby in the public could've called the police, helped him get to safety, etc).
    I think that Irene may have snuck into the car and promised the other 4 girls that she would finish him off, even though in her heart she wanted him to actually escape. The other 4 members feel the same way though, so they trust her to handle the boy by herself.
    While in the car, she makes a deal with the pizza boy. When he gets to the payphone, if he can find and call someone for help within a few minutes, she'll let him go without any complaints. If he fails to do so, she'll have no choice but to kill him. At the end, Irene gets out of the car and the pizza boy turns around in a way that he's not so surprised, as he is scared. This explains why Irene only comes out after the call fails, and also why the boy shortly glances back after shaking his head when the unavailable call voice message pops up. You can see this at 4:10.
    Some might interpret this as just him being anxious that the girls could've followed him if he had gotten drugged by the jello and didn't notice that Irene was in the car with him, but you can see that when he approaches the payphone, he keeps his eyes relatively on it, instead of looking around behind him. He's too afraid to look back at Irene in the car, and only does when the call fails.
    For me, this MV was pretty reminiscent of stalker TV shows and movies I've watched, so it would be understandable if the plot is about a 5-member murder pact slowly falling out of their original polish!

    Your theory was pretty much dead on....also don't forget at the beginning of the video when they're all in the room asleep it's like they are tired from all of the training they've done and the hunt. Also how they train by having one member as a target on that seat but they miss each time, but they hit the apple perfectly, it's like they train to miss even though they are perfect shots...
    Also about their side tracks...DO IT honestly Red Velvet is very well known for as well having AMAZING B side tracks as well. My favorites from this album are, My Second Date, I Just, and Attaboy. However this was a Velvet centered comeback so most of the songs on the album will be slower and more R&B influenced. The Red Summer's side tracks are all actually REALLY good so I would suggest giving all of their albums a listen, maybe you'll find songs in them that catch you and make you finally Stan them 😊

    Love the MV. So cinematic. AHS + Hitchcock + a lot of cultish b-movie feel. I appreciate that. Wasn’t really a big fan of RV, but really start to dig SM’s branding of Red Velvet. There’s something very eerie in their sweetness, in the songs and in the MVs (take Russian Roulette, rookie for example, they can be read as really dark social critique). This uncanniness at the core of RV artistic image and sound makes them stand out to me. And I feel the same about their choreography. There’s something really awkward and unnatural in their choreographies (most done by Kyle Hanagami) that just make the dances really refreshing.

It's kind of between a teen horror movie and a fantasy horror tale. your insight put a lot of perspective in my theories, since i just watched the video an hour ago and started fanning. honestly though, i feel like they're ghosts / gwisin? i kind of came to that conclusion after noticing how deathly pale they looked while dancing in front of the house during the day, but at night or inside of the house, they looked completely fine? if i remember correctly, the full moon increases paranormal activity, but i could be wrong. also the fact that during the training montages i'm pretty sure the arrow hit the apple, but it just went right through it? and how the strikes completely missed seulgi / seemed to pass through / by without concern? and i read that gwisin are usually made up by children, or by parents to scare their children, which might be the reason for the music box sound? it has a very childish undertone, yet still maintains a dark and eerie vibe. also the name of the song is peek-a-BOO. so... anyways, thats just my theory. someone clearly undercooked their pizza and they died from it and now all delivery boys must pay with their lives.

    I love your theory of this MV. Most people are more focus on the members, but you point out some details that I'm missing like the crescent moon.
    And Red Velvet B-side tracks are the best actually!!! You should check them out! From Ice Cream Cake album until now, their b-side tracks never disappoint. Oh Boy, Talk to me, Cool hot sweet love, Time slip, and Kingdom come are some of my favorite RV b-side tracks.

      Oh and don't ask me how much I love Oh Boy! because it hands down my favorite RV song ever!! xddd
      This song ranks 1st place most downloaded RV b-side track in Korea and K-netz said that the lyrics is really beautiful, it can't even be translated to another language because it has rhyme and connect to Korean fictional story or something I don't remember XD

    I loved peak-a-boo, the whole music video was so interesting to watch and there were so many things to look out for which is something I like. The song is my favourite title track yet, it still had the feeling of red velvet title tracks but it matured. It relates more to their velvet side which is my favourite. I loved the instrumental since it was a bit creepy, a bit of melancholy, but still had a lot of energy. The whole album is wonderful, had a variety of genres and honestly I'm so proud of red velvet.

    I really like Red Velvet but I'm more found of their Velvet side, since they stopped promoting this side I got a little: "eh" about their comebacks, don't get me wrong, I love some fun and weird song but Red Velvet SLAAAAY the velvet concept(that voices get in my *soul*) and I throught it was a shame to waste this side, I couldn't call myself an ReveLuv(?)(thats the fandom name? not sure) either because I didn't feel the need to know more about each member, bUT THIS COMEBACK THESE GIRLS GOT MY LAZY ASS TO KNOW ALL THEIR DISCOGRAPHY.
    Also this concept is so good, a good mix of the Red and Velvet side, I expect more of it in the future ~

    How can you listen to "Dumb Dumb", and not think it's one of the best songs ever? SM's instrumentals and experimental sound is so great, and Red Velvet's weird red pop sound on top of hip-hop beats, combined with their velvet RnB sound, is a perfect example of that imo.

    I was never a fan of red velvet, cause they reminded me of f(x), a group I reviled. Now, Red Velvet just eclipsed MAMAMOO as my Ultimate Kpop Group. I stan talent and red velvet's songs are super catchy, their harmonization is unparalleled and their videos are creative. They take alot of risks and their latest album cemented their status for me. I would recommend their video "dumb dumb". I recently watched it and became obssessed. I'm not a fan of all their music, but damn, they are great.

    I love how you broke this video down. It’s one of my favorites Red Velvet mv’s because of its dark nature. And when you said you feel it’s kind of like hunter/prey I couldn’t agree more. When I first saw this mv I got “The most dangerous game” by Richard Connell vibes.
