CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Teenagers Eddie (Gary Dubin) and Tina (Ann Dusenberry) encounter the shark while out sailing.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Despite being a less well-regarded virtual remake of the original film, Jaws 2 earned a tidy sum at the box office by combining its predecessor's winning formula with the popular teen horror craze, helping to spawn the era of blockbuster sequels. Roy Scheider returns as Sheriff Martin Brody, whose small resort town of Amity is poised to bounce back from the economic hardship it encountered after becoming widely known as the site of vicious shark attacks. But at the same time that Mayor Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) is welcoming a real estate developer to Amity, two divers disappear and a party of waterskiers is consumed by a shark. The incidents are explained away as accidents, but Brody knows better, tipping his bullets with cyanide and forbidding his sons Mike (Mark Gruner) and Sean (Marc Gilpin) to participate in a teen sailing regatta. Everyone foolishly chalks up Brody's fears to trauma-induced paranoia, and the regatta goes forward, with a hungry great white trailing the youthful contestants and hungrily picking them off one by one. Director Jeannot Szwarc would later helm another sequel, Supergirl (1984).

She told him to swim faster. He couldn’t do that without help. The shark grabbed him and helped him swim fast over to the boat. Such a helpful shark!
Yeah unfortunately he hit it so hard he got a concussion and drowned
@@siobhanmuniz7117 He was still learning to swim and forgot to brake! Dang fool!
Yes, _helpful_
Niiicce Sharky Shark !
he was more helpful as she at least. She can only yell at him, the shark at leat offered a solution and ultimately it's her who fails cause she could have hand him a helping hand and get him on the boat but she chose to be a cry baby and he had to die for it :-( and everyone is blaming that poor shark :-(
She’s a hell of an actress !!!!
When they find her hidden after they found the boat , is pure acting gold never ever seen a better terrorised act like this one !!!
Yes! Sh-sh-shhh-SHAAAAARK!!!
yes you right but there is an another one drew barrymore in scream masterpiece from wes craven
@@mgdonner312Sorry, much as I love Drew, I didn't completely buy her 'I'm so terrified' bit in 'Scream' - although she is fantastic in virtually everything else she has ever done.
What’s so scary about this scene is that he’s forced to swim towards the shark. Once the shark passes the boat, he has absolutely no chance of escaping.
He doesn't know that though, she sees the shark he's doesn't. That might make it scarier even haha
@@rally8391 she is screaming to him that there’s a shark
@@MartyMcFly88 Yes but "there's a shark" doesn't tell the swimmer anything about WHERE the shark is... if it's behind him, on the side etc.... the shark was the opposite side of the boat when the fin was on the surface, so the swimmer had 0 chance to seeing it, and had no idea he was swimming directly towards it.... but it wouldn't change the outcome, he was doomed anyway.
I remember when watching this someone started moaning about "why isn't the girl helping him instead she just sits there with her mouth open" .... it's because she is in panic, and when in panic some people just freeze up.
Great point l agree ya know what else is scary watching all this while your own name is TINA.UGHH
Jordan Davis 22 So boat about
0:28 I love that you can see the other sailboats from the group in the distance. Not only is it an awesome continuity moment, but the fact that the friends are completely unaware that Eddie is getting devoured by a great white shark, just makes it VERY chilling.
and how tina screams Shark when she is found by Brody....brrrrr
Yeah. That was actually quite reminiscent of Spielberg's technique.
This scene always terrified me . It’s just so brutally raw and he’s so terrified before his death.
Jaws 2 was a very strong sequel. Some genuinely scary scenes.
I personally always found it more entertaining than the first
Alan Brown shut up this was a scary movie
Great ending I always thought.
It’s a fun sequel. The decision to show the shark from the start made sense after the first film. It’s not high art like the first film, but it wasn’t trying to be, either. 🤷🏻♂️
All Jaws fans agree (like myself) that Jaws 2 is the only good sequel. Jaws is my favorite movie of all time and in all honesty, this one is a very adequate sequel!
It's got most of the same cast, the score by John Williams is just as good as ever, passable suspense and one thing this movie did better than the first one was show more real life shark footage, filmed by the same Australian couple, Ron & Valerie Taylor!
A great, underrated sequel. The shark in this film is just vicious and relentless. This scene is particularly terrifying as once he's in the water, he's completely powerless to do anything to prevent the inevitable.
C’est une femelle elle est plus grande que le mâle du premier plus agressive est moins intelligente mais plus zgresif
This scene took my breath away in the cinema just like the opening scene with Chrissy, the first victim in JAWS, did. It really shook me.
This scene and the the girl water skiing are both genuinely scary scenes. The way they both die as well as the mother of the skier.
I like how there's no fanfare or dragged out scream as he's pulled to his death. He just yells "help me" and then he's pulled under.
Well it makes sense, he was pulled underwater for a bit, Before he pulled onto the boat, so he was probably trying to catch a breath, and most likely in so much shock that he can’t get many words out
For everyone commenting that she didn’t do anything, shock is a very powerful state of mind. It disorients you and in most cases, makes you unable to move. Usually, it happens when experiencing trauma. Trauma like seeing your boyfriend getting mauled by a shark
Says a woman
I remember when watching this someone started moaning about "why isn't the girl helping him instead she just sits there with her mouth open" .... it's because she is in panic, and when in panic some people just freeze up.
Anyone who disagrees with this has never seen or experienced panic... In panic situations some people simply become animals with no reasoning abilities. Same as some animals that just freeze up when they get scared or threatened. It's just natural instinct.
My natural instinct is to fight and find a solution not sit there and scream oh my God no make it go away because I know that does not help anything, that is not a solution
@@mowilderness8505 this is natural, for men. For women, who are biologically programmed to avoid conflict at all costs, it isn't.
mowilderness8505 u sound like a douchebag
This shows how music can really make a scene terrifying!
Shshshshshaaaarrrrkkkk
TCT92Graphics I love the sound track of his part it’s the best music I listen to the soundtrack by its self it’s to thrilling it dose make it terrifying
TCT92Graphics John Williams went and just improve on his Jaws theme that he won his Academy Award with this sequel.
Or, alternatively, the lack of music.

And she was in shock and the boat could have tipped over
plus she was in shock and everything happened pretty fast. Great scene.
@@BigLebowski2000 I agree. I don't know her name. But, this actress sells the scene perfectly and makes it scary. Her SHAAAAAARK!!! scream later is legendary. I remember it being in the trailer. Definitely the scream queen of Jaws 2. The gal that played Chrissy in Jaws is that film's scream queen
This scene, in my opinion, captured the same terror that the first one did.

Ivan Matta yeah thats true
UrbanFantasy Ikr
UrbanFantasy she was cute though💕❤️
YEAH!
No one ever talks about not only how intelligent this was on the shark's end, but how completely _sadistic_ it is.
Eating the guy is one thing.
But ramming him off the boat, dragging the boat away, swimming back to him to give him that false sense of hope, *slamming* him into the side of aforementioned boat, then finally eating him.
Like, that goes _beyond_ animal instincts. That is literally Orca levels of sadism.
Orcas aren't sadists. Sadism is counterintuitive to instinct and can only exist after overriding it. When you see an animal killing another animal to wear its hide or to parade around with its head like a trophy, then there's sadism. Until then, orcas exhibit behavior intended to teach hunting and pod tactics, and shouldn't be saddled with human emotional and mental failures.
@@HerrinSchadenfreude I know we shouldn't project human-like qualities on animals to humanize them. It doesn't make it any less cruel is what I'm getting at. Like the Orcas that basically fling seals and stingrays into the air and don't eat them on occasion. I don't deny how smart Orcas are, in fact their intelligence is why they're my favorite animal and honestly think keeping them as attractions should be outlawed because at that point, Orca Enclosures are basically a prison. Not that animal enclosures aren't a prison, but I digress.
Point I'm trying to make is Scary Shark in Scary Shark Movie 2 acts as smart and tenacious as an Orca here when eating human and I think it makes it terrifying.
@@HerrinSchadenfreudethere’s footage of an orca pod deliberately harassing a blue whale, almost as if they were bullying it for fun, they came to this conclusion because instead of pursuing the whale like they normally would for a meal they swam off in the complete opposite direction once they’d frightened the hell out of the blue whale and it dived, escaping remarkable stuff, still could be considered teaching predatory technique but if it was I feel like they would’ve actually followed through with the hunt and killed the whale,
lol orca level
I like to think the sharks in Jaws and the xenomorph in Alien are predators with an extra sadistic layer to their personalities, almost like serial killers. They are actually enjoying this, like playing with its food, just for fun

This is the best and most memorable scene in jaws for me.. This terrorized me as a kid. I always remember her curl up on the boat alone shaking horribly 😭
There were so many really good scenes with the Jaws one and two, this is one of them.
As a kid, these scenes terrified me. I joined Sailing club in high school and the whole time I attended training, I thought of Jaws.
Anyone else ever notice his legs still kicking and flailing as he clung to the boat? Methinks those would have been gone by then.
idiopt/.
I think he was chomped in half at that point
Yes!!!!! So happy someone saw that ....his legs would be gone up to his thighs and if you look closely the piece of wood that rips off when pulled under you can tell its already an independent piece glued on . Things you never notice when in theater.
I didn't see legs honestly. I'm my mind his legs were gone at that point. There's soooo much blood there after he gets yanked down for good. That silence like when Chrissy got yanked under is totally shocking
Good point his legs would be ripped apart
Tina: Eddie swim faster!
Jaws: Calm down woman, I'll bring him to you.
0:12 you've got to be kidding me that she didn't notice that large fin.
I am glad I am not the only one who notices this every time I watch this scene. I am like, "Out of the corner of your eye, lady, you can see that huge fin." SMH
The girl was in shock
2:00 you can see both of his legs moving about perfectly fine 😂
Erin Hein so why can you see both of his legs kicking if the shark bit him? Where was the shark biting him? What was that huge rush to the boat? It was bad editing not bite and spit
1:49 They asked me to fire my gun to create that sound of his head hitting the boat, it made my day.
Did you fire six shots or only five?
"Eddie help me"
Shut up, you're the one in the boat you're fine, it's eddie who needs help.
who said anything about her moving?
i think tina was in shock but she should have manuevered the boat to help eddie.
Ever heard of Grace O’ Malley? Naomi James? Molly Kool? Hannah Miller? Mary Converse? Come on dude, in this era of Google searches, you can find plenty of examples of women who had/have a pretty respectable record at handling a ship within the time it takes to heat some soup.
I believe in factual, documented information and historical proof, NOT fairytales.
Regardless, I agree that Tina wasn’t exactly the competent sailor type here.
But she wouldn’t be the first person to have an expensive toy that they don’t know the first thing about using, for sure.
At least for the good of script, I could see how Tina turning the boat to try and save Eddie making the scene more suspenseful. I think Eddie would still be a goner either way but at the least it would have given the audience some kind of hope that he could have been saved right until the end. But then again, the plot required Tina to go into shock so with her maneuvering the boat wouldn’t fit with where the writers wanted to go.
The sail was knocked off kilter!
Am I the only one who, as a kid, found the part at 1:10 funny? I found it funny because as soon as Tina says swim faster, the shark starts swimming faster. 😂
Yeah Jaws 2 sucks the first one is awesome...
Tina, U HAD ONE JOB!!!
Joseph Ragsdale u think a teenage girl is going to be able to win in a game of tug of war with a GREAT WHITE SHARK?! U don’t think she wouldn’t get pulled in the water too? Cognitive thinking really isn’t ur strong point is it?
Joseph Ragsdale no way she could’ve helped him by the time he hit the boat to being pulled under was 2.5 - 3 seconds imo prime mike Tyson can’t pull someone up that fast in water wanna know why she can’t because she isn’t like other women who are in olympics she’s just a normal teenager who is probably spoiled because she has a boat named after her and probably doesn’t know how to use it and she probably weighs about 90 to 95 pounds and the shark is about 20 ft and 2 tons and she’ll have trouble picking up a fan there’s no competition he was dead if she pulled him up or left him because of blood loss or she would have gotten pulled under
Plus she was in shock
@@II-nq2gy his point is that Tina didnt even try
Everybody commenting this is stupid
It's Eddies heavy panting and sharp inhaling of screen that does it for me. He is so desperate with animalistic fear, then its all over so quick.
The shark is one of my scariest things in my life that when i go swimming i get scared and carefully
Shark was pretty clever, pushing the boat away far enough for him to get the guy then turn around and head straight for him as he swam right into the shark
It’s scary as hell but the fact that the shark just rams him into the boat so hard is kind of hilarious 😂
*Interesting Fact:* The guy who was eaten by the shark was the voice of Toulouse (the orange kitten) from *The Aristocats*
kryptonianpowers Ahhh what a great film

it wouldn't have been that hard to... outmuscle a 25-foot long Great White shark with your two puny arms? I beg your pardon? are you even watching the same movie LMAO
this isn't "different strokes for different folks" -- there are only two valid options here, both of which @Gellert Grindelwald outlined perfectly; either she gets dragged in with him, or the shark severs his lower half and she's left with half a body leaking its intestines onto the floor of the boat. Whatever alternatives you're thinking are possible, they're not.
@@m3gusta17 I’m not talking about out swimming the damn shark. I talking about how Tina didn’t know even attempt to grab Eddie and pull him in. Like I understand that she probably would have ended up throwing him back, because he probably was bitten in half but like, she didn’t even reach for his hands. But whatever it’s a movie so I’m not going to get into an argument about what happens in a fictional movie.
Lol thats women for you. Watch you like a movie, note down every detail and keep in stored in the memory bank. To be used against you at any time!
I don't know why, but I think the shark is legit toying with its food by dragging them towards a boat, giving them some last few precious feelings of hope before dragging them below the waves to their doom.
I am Unicron you all do realize that this scene, as well as the one in jaws 1 at the beginning are legitimately NOT possible?. As soon as he’s in the shark’s mouth, ( even if just the feet) , he would’ve been pulled under. He wouldn’t be “ riding” the shark through the water. The same with the very first victim in part one. The skinny dipper lady. They’d be dragged under immediately. I know they’re just movies but this is so physiologically fake it’s unreal!
And sharks don’t “ stand up” in the water And even if they did, those people would’ve fallen face first in the water anyway as soon as the shark got hold of their legs and/or feet
Sure, because it's heavily implied these sharks have actual malicious personalities, seen from their strange behaviours.
This scene always gave me anxiety

Jaws 2 is a vastly underrated and under appreciated sequel. The first Jaws is my favourite movie of all time. And even though J2 will never match it in terms of cinematic masterpiece quality, it’s a strong film in its own right. Thrilling sequences like this one, decent acting, beautifully shot and John Williams’s score is even better the second time around. And if there’s one scene in this sequel that matches the first film in terms of tension and excitement, Eddie’s death is it.
The problems with Jaws 2 are that the teenagers were very annoying (and the only non-annoying one, Marge, gets eaten), and the shark was MIA for a long stretch of time between the water skier and the lobster dive.
you clearly just demonstrated that jaws 2 DOES match jaws one in cinematic quality...
Look on the bright side...Tina turned single quite fast. Poor Eddie. I remember the fear when i was a kid watching this scene.
_Jaws_ is my favorite movie. But this sequence, along with the attacks on the skier and Marge, were every bit as effective and stylish as the attacks in the original. They are filled with memorable details. And they are terrifying.

Lmao she is still on the boat he is in the water and she's yelling "HELPPP ME"
Immense acting.

Jaws is hungry
Jaws 1 and 2 are my fav jaws movies ever. And the Jaws 2 shark is my fav shark ever. And Jaws 1 has the best actor out of all the Jaws movies (Quint)
@longhairfan I actually saw Jaws2 before I saw Jaws 1! This was my favorite scene aside from Captain Quint's demise! We would always reinact both deaths at the pool or beach! Always knew Robert Shaw had died soon after Jaws, then there was Murray Hamilton (Mayor Vaughn) Roy Schneider (Brody)! But, I always felt better knowing "Eddie" was still alive! Well crap I get this news on here and it feels like a part of my childhood has vanished! What's next? Lorraine Gary (Ellen Brody) dying! Now, all the sudden Jaws series films are not as fun to watch any more!
The first jaws is still a masterpiece..
