Axles World, I KNOW, RIGHT?! Ugh, the blood spurting out of his mouth.... Screaming and kicking until he was 1/2 way in it's mouth, then, like a hydraulic press, bit down HARD(!), I STILL can't watch it, even Chrissy Watkins's death in the first few minutes of the original!
I actually found this so sad, considering we more or less watched this character grow up. The imagery of the attack was top notch though because we can barely see the shark kind of like how it was in the original. And Sean’s screams after losing his arm were scary. This attack was brutal as hell. This was probably the best part of the movie tbh.
The most disturbing part about this scene is the calming carolers in the background, it's a creepy contrast of horror and happiness, it just makes it even more shocking. Great stuff.
~Delevity~ I like how it's done. we know the people are not intentionally ignoring him, but it is set up as he has no one to save him because he is stranded far from land, it is night, and everyone is singing. disturbing, but I also like that nearly the entire town attend his funeral, touching.
I agree, it was a great idea juxtaposing these two contrasting elements. I remember seeing this movie at 10 and hating it. Maybe I should give it another try. As far as the roaring shark in the film is concerned, I find that actually scary, like the shark it no real shark but some kind of demon since we all know sharks are fish and fish can't roar.
One of the series most disturbing scenes, really well done and quite terrifying. The lingering shot on sean clutching at where his arm was, the screams and sense of panic and terror are almost as well done as quints death. Not a great film, at all, but this scene stands out. Not sure what happened to the rest of this film but this opening was scary and affective. The bannana boat scene was memorable too. This scared me so much as a kid i was afraid to wash my hands or have a bath! Really stuck with me and is still unsettling now. Despite the ludicrous idea that the shark laid this trap especially for sean!
Completely agree. This film was so bad and although it's a guilty pleasure because I saw it as a kid so there's the nostalgia factor, I acknowledge that it's not good. But I think the first 15 minutes is really not bad at all in fact I would go as far as to say had they cleaned up a few things it would have been really really good. The opening credits were great, seeing old characters was really cool, and I think this is one of the most chilling scenes I've seen in a film. It could have been done better, but in a film with a roaring shark, this definitely stands out as really well done overall even if a bit sloppy
I agree it was well off to a good start but got lost after this opening. . not a very bad movie I. The sense that is it more honestly boring and not interesting..
I can just imagine the headlines in the Amity local newspaper the next day. "Top story, a boating accident has claimed the life of Amity Police Deputy Sean Brody as he was trying to free a log trapped in a channel marker when suddenly he fell in the water and was torn apart by the police barge propeller. Though several eye witnesses claimed they saw what appeared to be a large shark like creature (Most likely a shark) swim towards Deputy Brody during this incident, Amity mayor officials have no doubt that this was one of just another tragic instances of a boating trip gone wrong. More on page 5."
let's face it, This is Amity we are talking about. This island would rather admit that a serial killer is on the loose than to say there's another killer shark around
That’s a hilarious idea. Interestingly, there are logs in some museums like the California Academy Of Sciences that show clear evidence of having been chomped hard by great whites, with teeth still lodged in the wood, no less. That must’ve been a major regret moment for those particular sharks, lol.
Yes the shark did put the log there. The original script had a voodoo doctor in the Bahamas put a curse on a shark to kill the Brody family due to a feud he had with Michael Brody, but when they rewrote the script, that element was dropped completely. And while it does sound like a ridiculous idea, it would make sense as to why the shark goes from Amity and the Bahamas. Might have made the film a bit more interesting if that plot remained in the film. The book of Jaws: The Revenge does have this element retained.
The idea of having a brutal shark attack with Christmas carollers in the background drowning out the screams is actually very effective. If the editing wasn’t so horribly choppy this could’ve been one of the few scenes in the film that worked.
Physically capable of getting away? Probably, unless Jaws could swim faster than the boat and sink it while it was moving fast. But it's called shock. When you go into shock you don't think straight. Instead of getting the boat back to the dock you just sit where you are and yell for help, sometimes.
The great white shark tops out at 25 miles per hour 35 in short bursts in the movie that boat was probably just as the others in the film chances are if the shark wanted it would still get ya (movie wise)
This death scene reminds me of Georgie's death from IT 2017. How any of the Brodys even think about stepping near the water after the first 3 movies is beyond me. This shark didn't kill Sean it straight up tortured him. It bit his arm off, violently ripped him from the boat, and then let him get out one last pointless scream before dragging him under and killing him. Really sad that they killed off Sean after the traumatic experience he went through in the second movie.
Can't remember how old I was when I first saw this but I was probably too young by todays standards. And I'm sure it was on at 7pm sometimes which seems a bit early for a movie about people getting eaten by a uber mahusive shark? Goodness knows what ratting it had in the Cinema? PG or 15 maybe? Honestly I think this movie is horrendous. But I stand by my opinion that the first 15 minutes or so was actually pretty decent. It was sloppy for sure, but having old characters, the nostalgia, I thought was really good along with the opening credits. And I think the mix of Christmas music and death back and forth back and forth back and forth was really creepy.
@@thickerconstrictor9037 i acc agree mate. All the scenes on Amity w the original cast and background characters from the first two films was rlly nice to see. It’s up until after the funeral the shitness kicks in loll
Could've been worse. It was actually supposed to be Chief Brody instead of Sean. Rob Scheider turned down the movie and joined the production of Blue Thunder just so they couldn't bribe him enough to be in this movie.
Well scientists recently discovered that Great Whites actually prefer to do their hunting during the day. So all those day-time attack scenes are pretty accurate now.
This is proably one of the most brutal deaths in jaws Its brodys little son the way he screams after he sees his arm is gone is also disturbing The last image of the boat sinking and a pool of blood is also creppy
Even though this scene isn't the best in any way, you have to admit, it is pretty sad to see Sean die. I mean, we saw him as a kid in Jaws, a bit older in jaws 2, and now we see him die. You have to admit, that is pretty sad
This scared me when i was a kid, I remember my mom was watching a marathon of jaws for its 25th anniversary and this was on but my mom was sleeping, so being the little curious 6 year old i was i watched it and it scared me, i was so terrified of that I couldn't even sleep and i never watched it again until now
There are a few cardinal rules for a policeman boat patrol: 1. Never take your boat out alone, especially at night. You need a partner at the wheel and another to act as a lookout. 2. Always carry a weapon or more in case of a shark attack. 3. Bring a bigger, stronger boat than the one that's been taken down. Needless to say, this must be the worst Christmas the Brody family has ever had.
clint45 people like you piss me off sometimes like i get its your personal preference but it wasn’t even a bad movie it had a decent amount of action and shark time on screen etc it really was very entertaining too like what did you want practical effects for the shark this isn’t the 70s and 80s anymore practical effects vs special effects would have never have worked for the movie like the meg it would look really dumb and clunky like the terrible shark models for jaws so theirs no point saying their was too much computer work tbh.
Marge: Dammit Shawn. I saved you when you were kid after that shark ate that helicopter. The least you could've done was not die so soon, so that my death would not have been in vain. Shawn: I'm sorry. You're right. I was a dumbass for not realizing that there's always another shark on, and to not reach my arms out in the water at night when the water's too dark. At least I had a fiancee named Tiffany, and she was gorgeous. Marge: Cool.
Someone getting killed on Christmas is just heartbreaking and brutal... Also do sharks even come out and hunt in winter? I thought they all hibernate under the water or something.
Probably because he had just had his arm bitten off so he was suffering from shock and because he was in shock, so he hadn't even had time to think about whether he was sitting or standing in the boat the right way or not, and after the shark bit his arm off his first instincts were to scream for help and then the shark up turns the boat which might seem a bit unlikely but then the whole idea of a shark with a personal vendetta against a certain family is pretty out there too?
But in real life when Bethany Hamilton got her arm bitten off at the age of 13 she didn't even scream but instead tried to get back to shore. Shock usually doesn't occur immediately it would take time for your body to respond. but anyways it is just a move after all. For the sake of the plot and our entertainment he had to die.
Jaws: The Revenge I have to admit and this is just what I think but Jaws The Revenge was a terrible movie, but this scene was probably one of the scariest and traumatizing kills in the series. I mean how would you feel knowing that you had lost your arm and that nobody was there to save you or hear you call for help. Purely and simply a horrifying scene
It's just so sad to think that little boy from Jaws 1 and 2 was going to be eaten alive in Jaws 4 when he was a grown man, doing his job as a police officer just like his dad. RIP, Sean.
This is kind of a call back to what happened to chrissie in the book, the shark came up and bit her leg clean off and since the nerves were severed she didn't feel any pain (just the tug of the shark) and only realized her leg was gone when she reached down. In this scene Sean's arm is torn clean off and he only realizes this when he looks over, as bad as this movie is it does have its moments
Here's the thing, when I saw this for the first time with no knowledge of how horrible the movie is, I thought this opening kill of Sean Brody made a massive statement. It was sad and shocking to see and I thought we had a legit Jaws sequel, only to find out how bad and absurd the film is as it progressed.
Question: how do you keep people from seeing what a plastic hunk of shit your killer shark actually looks like? Answer: when it attacks, shake the camera
a teacher of mine. was heard of the new kung fu panda 4 came out. he told me he said that the movie will end up like Jaws 4 did. and look 2 months later.. oh god... lmao
Yup, because apparently a motherfucking shark is pissed off on a family for killing of three sharks, and it even stalks them from New York all the way to the Bahamas, lol.
I know it's common knowledge that when the shark pops out of the water, it's the footage from when they shot in the Bahamas. But if you slow it right down during the bit where Sean is getting ripped to pieces, you can see they've also put in a tiny bit of footage of a real Great White attacking a bait.
What's more is that apparently the early draft of this script had Martin Brody as the victim here! As sad as this scene is I'm glad Roy Schider didn't agree to come back…that would have been utterly heartbreaking to watch.
Well, when breaching maybe? but i'd guess it was mostly from the side they'd see, the shark vision should definitely be different forward facing, only a fraction of their eye faces that way Ahh, here we go, you're were half right "The shark does have two major blind spots, which are right in front of the snout and right behind the head, and because sharks can only see about 50 feet (15 meters) ahead, the sense of sight is really only important to a shark once it has closed in on its prey"
If they had of ended the Movie there then this probably would've been a great success. Jaws The Revenge... Shark kills Sean, This time it was Personal.
It’s sad to see how much this series has devolved from the original masterpiece. I would have been much happier if they just left it at Jaws 1975, a classic movie which I don’t associate with these three wrecks that came after.
I love how they keep trying to out do the previous film in the series just to consistently making each entry considerably worse than their predecessor. I've just recently watch the whole series and in my book: Jaws, great Jaws 2, decent Jaws 3D, so bad it's good Jaws the Revenge, unwatchable.
Kevin davis I really don't understand how people can watch this movie. I mean I can't even call this a movie. People say to me why do you like the movie Lake Placid. I enjoy it because it's a funny. Yes I do admit it's a stupid, but it's a funny stupid movie... This movie is just plain STUPID and it's beyond AWFUL. I can't find another word than awful to describe this movie.
Stevo the Movie Buff Because it's a "JAWS" movie. That's why they watch it. They're JAWS Fans, like me. Fact is, is that Jaws 1 will always be the best JAWS ever. And yes JAWS 2 will be the best JAWS sequel.
They show all the Jaws movies every now and then where I live. But I've only ever seen the original. And while I do think it's an amazing film, I've never really felt invested in it whenever I watch it. Which I think is my fault rather than the film's. I think I always go in with overly high expectations because it just feels like it should be my kind of movie. Anyway, Roger Ebert gave this movie 0 stars, so obviously...oh and it has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of, wait for it, 0%!
This scene scared the hell out of me when I was like 12 years old. I think this scene would have been a lot scarier if the producers did a little better job on the gore effects, blood was good but not gore. If you actually look closely his arm is just behind his back I think.
When asked later about this film, Michael Caine stated that "I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific."
I remember this scene and my reaction is always the same: Damn i don´t wanna died in that way, probably one of the most horrible deaths that i ever seen, poor guy.
That's exactly the spirit this film 🎥 should be taken in . People should stop worrying about how convincing the shark 🦈 is and just enjoy it for the monster movie / terror fest that it's meant to be. I think it's kinda sad how these movies loose their power to scare you after a few years and everyone treats them like a joke. I'm sure there was a part of me that was scared when I was little, seeing Jaws movies 🎥 on telly in the 80s, despite rooting for the shark 🦈 to eat his or her next victim.
I have some questions please Correct me if I'm wrong, ¿So basically the shark killed sean just because martin brody killed the father of this shark or was for another reasons ?, i never could understand that part, this scene and the scene of the morgue and the mother looking to the other side with that eyes of impotence and sadness when the pathologist opens the plastic bag that covers sean is really sad :(, i would thank you if you will clarify my doubts, By the way is really impossible don't feel´s hate by the shark, my reaction is the same as reaction of the mother of sean in all the movie just GRRRR
I think this is one of the better scenes of this movie. And I think that the deaths where yo can't see the shark but just hear the screaming and see the blood are much more scarier ad effective then the other shark attacks. Like the girl in the first Jaws movie who was killed at the start; that was more scary than say the banana boat scene.

R.I.P Sean Brody u were always my 2nd favourite character in Jaws
Yeah 2nd
Sean was always my 1st favorite character
Jaws 4 isn't cannon..
This entire scene was a middle finger to the entire franchise
here here!
The entire movie is a middle finger
All these years, and I haven’t overcome Marge’s death. It got me when I was a kid.
Although this film is described as terrible, I am fascinated by some scenes like this one, where tragedy is mixed with horror.
Such a horrible way to die. I shed tears for Sean. May he Rest In Peace.😢
@Rogue Caiman lol but no she means peace

Poor Sean it is just so sad that he dies by his dad's worst enemy! R I P Sean Brody(1975-1987)
I love how a couple of the shots when the shark lunges out of the water are in broad daylight. 😆
Well scientists recently discovered that Great Whites actually prefer to do their hunting during the day. So all those day-time attack scenes are pretty accurate now.
This is proably one of the most brutal deaths in jaws
Its brodys little son the way he screams after he sees his arm is gone is also disturbing
The last image of the boat sinking and a pool of blood is also creppy
Even though this scene isn't the best in any way, you have to admit, it is pretty sad to see Sean die. I mean, we saw him as a kid in Jaws, a bit older in jaws 2, and now we see him die. You have to admit, that is pretty sad
I was happy
This scared me when i was a kid, I remember my mom was watching a marathon of jaws for its 25th anniversary and this was on but my mom was sleeping, so being the little curious 6 year old i was i watched it and it scared me, i was so terrified of that I couldn't even sleep and i never watched it again until now
This scene was scary as a kid for me too
R.I.P Sean 🙁
There are a few cardinal rules for a policeman boat patrol:
Too bad his dumb partner went cow tipping and that's for teenagers
Lol!
I wish Sean would've lived. He was so cute and innocent in the first two movies.
Not as bad as Sharknado but Sharknado is worse then this. The original Jaws is always going to be the best shark movie of all time.
clint45 people like you piss me off sometimes like i get its your personal preference but it wasn’t even a bad movie it had a decent amount of action and shark time on screen etc it really was very entertaining too like what did you want practical effects for the shark this isn’t the 70s and 80s anymore practical effects vs special effects would have never have worked for the movie like the meg it would look really dumb and clunky like the terrible shark models for jaws so theirs no point saying their was too much computer work tbh.
Sharknado and all the others after it make this movie look like it won an Oscar award
Well.. at least he dislodged that log. Well done
Regardless of what you think of this one, this scene was terrifying.
I feel so sorry for this guy
1987 so scary
It's so sad how he died alone
He didn't die alone, the shark was there for him.
That's not funny
@@minakoaino7043why?
Sharks don't do 90% of what they do in this movie.
wtf
+daffyphack I agree stupid movie gives sharks bad reputation.... what's with making it roar wish film makers would do their research
Genesis Coupe sharks don't sleep
Nickhead87 dolphins sleep. With one eye open. Sharks do not. Some? Which speices?
Despite how bad this movie is.
It had two pretty good attack scenes.
This one and the banana boat.
My Question is why'd he stay on the edge of the boat where he's so vulnerable?
because he lose his arm.
Anthony Whisenant He was killed by lousy editing.
SilverMoonSpirit16 it depends on the individual. Some people scream, others just sorta take it in stride if that makes sense.
I agree
I respect your opinion but for me it was very dumb how the boat just randomly starts sinking and the editing sucks.
Its definitely a sad scene but still i think the editing is trash.
It's just so sad to think that little boy from Jaws 1 and 2 was going to be eaten alive in Jaws 4 when he was a grown man, doing his job as a police officer just like his dad. RIP, Sean.
1:58 he looks fine to me back on the log
A pretty good opening honestly
He's screaming for his life and they continue to keep singing oh the dilemma of it all.
Oh she felt it alright, just not for the first few seconds, if you remember the book correctly
I remember reading the jaws book and I don't recall that particular moment
Say what you will about this movie, but goddammit. This opening scene haunted me just as much as the original’s opening.
Mr. Handel-Bar IK, RIP Footage
stop swearing I m just a kid
Kate Oconnor Well I don't Give no fucks
Kate Oconnor kids shouldn’t be on the internet
well, Jaws was made in 1975 and even that looks better.
This film has its moments
At least they used an actual shark in some brief shots
Jaws’s most brutal attack ever
The Best Scene 😊❤😊❤😊❤😮🎉
No shark in the world could propel itself like that unless if it was a baby Megaladon
You do know that White sharks can breach around 15 feet out of the water, right?

My mom showed me this when I was was five and this scene scarred my life
a teacher of mine. was heard of the new kung fu panda 4 came out. he told me he said that the movie will end up like Jaws 4 did.
and look 2 months later.. oh god... lmao
The shark is Pennywise underwater
I love how the Jaws movies focuses in on one family and their struggle with sharks and now two of the family members are now dead.
Move back to the city? I think I would be traumatised by the ocean.
everyone: POor sean
vengeance: bro this movie is called jaws: the ( *revenge* )
Yup, because apparently a motherfucking shark is pissed off on a family for killing of three sharks, and it even stalks them from New York all the way to the Bahamas, lol.
This movie is terrible..
Shark knows almost everything about him. Even how much fee he got every month. It cracks me down. :)))
Seeing Sean’s death made me cry a lot, R.I.P. Sean Brody
I know it's common knowledge that when the shark pops out of the water, it's the footage from when they shot in the Bahamas. But if you slow it right down during the bit where Sean is getting ripped to pieces, you can see they've also put in a tiny bit of footage of a real Great White attacking a bait.
This scene still affects me even to this day ☹️
so scary
I liked this movie I like all the jaws but the first one is the best
This is better than 3
What's more is that apparently the early draft of this script had Martin Brody as the victim here! As sad as this scene is I'm glad Roy Schider didn't agree to come back…that would have been utterly heartbreaking to watch.
he's right. the original plan was for Roy to cameo and get killed immediately in a scene like this.
anyways they did mention in the film that Martin Brody died of a heart attack and Ellen claims it was due to a complete shock of the shark coming back
@@IndSwagMaster95 Died of a heart attack when he read the script.
While the franchise had been utterly killed already, it would have died that much harder if they did that
Universal: We were thinking of casting Michael J. Fox as Sean Brody
Jaws 4 director: We have Michael J. Fox at home
As a child this scene litterally gave me nightmares
Wow, that boat did a real good impression on how that movie did lol 😆
Sharks can’t see above the water their eyes run Parallel to their bodies
Well, when breaching maybe? but i'd guess it was mostly from the side they'd see, the shark vision should definitely be different forward facing, only a fraction of their eye faces that way
Ahh, here we go, you're were half right
"The shark does have two major blind spots, which are right in front of the snout and right behind the head, and because sharks can only see about 50 feet (15 meters) ahead, the sense of sight is really only important to a shark once it has closed in on its prey"
If they had of ended the Movie there then this probably would've been a great success. Jaws The Revenge... Shark kills Sean, This time it was Personal.
I love how he like doesn't know what just happened before he checks and feels that his arm is actually missing. Then, he chooses to scream in agony.
It’s fairly realistic, when one suffers a super severe injury, it takes the brain a moment to register just how severe it is
01:07 LOL, does he really yell "owww!"? That's hi-LAR-ious!!!!
No he said “HEEELP”
Poor Sean
Jaws 1, Jaws 4, Jaws 2, Jaws 3
It’s sad to see how much this series has devolved from the original masterpiece. I would have been much happier if they just left it at Jaws 1975, a classic movie which I don’t associate with these three wrecks that came after.
I love how they keep trying to out do the previous film in the series just to consistently making each entry considerably worse than their predecessor.
I've just recently watch the whole series and in my book:
Jaws, great
Jaws 2, decent
Jaws 3D, so bad it's good
Jaws the Revenge, unwatchable.
I love it took his arm and it took like 10 seconds to realize it lol
pepsiguy52883 he was in shock
Sharks-with super powers!
Daniel Ryan should never of attacked Sean the poor lad was armless
This is why I don't go to the ocean while dark.
Am I the only one who thought Sean looked and sounded like Marty McFly at a few moments when I was younger?
Your not alone man, i thought the same thing
"We all float down here, Sean"
- Shark, probably
Wish I could change the title of this film to "Here's A Fish, Your Stupid"
The only scariest part in Jaws 4.
"You're"
...stupid.
idc what people say, this movie honestly isnt as bad as people claim it is i love all the jaws movies
0:46 is the same footage when Jake sticks the shark with the tracking device.
Yeah it's very lazy film making my god...
The reason I can tell is because there’s already blood in the water 💀
I find it funny that Sean didn’t realise his arm was gone for a full 10 seconds and had to try to grab it with the other arm to make sure 😂
Adrenaline
Completly true.
