Yeah, Bill, this list is fucked up, but I still love you.
Dying 😂
I recognize that everybody's lists will be wildly different, based on where were we first saw these movies. Godzilla's got us all covered :)
Is it messed up because Bill has his own opinion and doesn't follow the trend that casual godzilla fans always regurgitate?
@@BigActionBillThe Toxic Goji Fans are going to hunt you down for this one… 1:56 And the Ultraman fans are going to hunt you down too for this one 3:19 Has this become a silly joke a prophecy of a bunch of little toxic Godzilla fans swarming your channel with hate comments? XD
@@BigActionBillas a fan of Godzilla vs. Megalon, from a critical viewpoint yeah it's pretty bad, Same with vs gigan and the rest of the show era tbh. (And this is coming from a showa fan)
Thank you for gettin me back into Godzilla

The Force Awakens is good
The Last Jedi is great
Rogue One is good
The Mandalorian is great
The Book of Boba Fett is okay
Obi-Wan Kenobi is good.
Tales of the Jedi is great
Andor is the best Star Wars thing, basically ever
Ahsoka looks good.
The only people ruining Star Wars are so-called fans who can't stop themselves from whining.
Real fans never left
@@sebastienvondoom8615 it literally ruins its own rules and characters like Han, Luke and Leia. It’s saddening

"I can't wait to hear his list!"
"Number 15 Godzilla vs Gigan"
"Nevermind scrap it all"
But for real, love your videos and they've helped me appreciate this franchise so much more
Me when Godzilla vs Gigan is my favorite Godzilla movie 😳
I know right? it's iconic! in it's own way of course.
Mine too, i just loved how dramatic they made the fight. Angirus trying to save his buddy :,[
Her: My parents are away, won't you please come over?
Me: nah babe, Big Action Bill just dropped a new vid.
But for real, it has been a wild ride, and I both enjoyed all your videos, and I for sure will rewatch all of them from time to time.
These rankings were hornier than I was expecting
Lmfao
I can’t thank you enough for everything that you’ve done. Specifically, helping me to get back into Godzilla as a whole. I grew up watching Godzilla movies (usually that my dad and I bought at our local mall.) I wanted to get back into Godzilla after watching Godzilla king of the monsters for the first time in 2019, and that’s when I discovered your channel. You are definitely the best kajiu related content creator on this platform! Right up their next to Dangerville & Paperfinz. Now, with that being said… why you have to do my boy Gigan like that? 😅
Hahaha thank you, Sorry Gigan-bros
I like how the production value of these has gradually increased in their own right. This reminds me of James Rolfes old Godzilla-thon from way back in the day. It's like your whole channel is pretty much what that series should have been. I love it. Never change bro.
My love for Godzillathon brought me here too! I was craving more content like that, and BA Bill's history videos are like Godzillathon to the max. Perfectly satisfied my itch
@@Headless_Bill I remember binge watching the whole thing in an evening once when I was kid.
Wow, you had the balls to NOT list All Monsters Attack last. I respect you, sir. Also, i love how your higher ranking movies have "Oh she is cute" in it. Also, respect.
Yeah my dad loves son of Godzilla that’s his all time favorite Godzilla movie and he says minya walking in the movie remind him of when I was a baby walking
The audacity of putting Godzillas Revenge over Gigan and Megalon. The audacity!!!! Fortunately your videos are awesome so I will not have to find you and deal with this appropriately.
I understand your number one ranking. Godzilla vs Megalon is my first Godzilla movie. I saw it at a drive-in with my parents when I was a kid and still remember the day.
I loved when he said “I’m Bill, and you’re watching big action.”
I remember visiting my Japanese grandparents and them showing me Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster one random afternoon. Mutated dinosaurs, a giant magical bug and a golden dragon having a knock down, drag out fight? It all went together like apple and pie. Can't argue with your top choice.
Have loved watching these re-reviews on the Shōwa movies Bill. Would love to see you cover the other Toho kaiju movies from both eras.
In a way I can see King Kong being considered lighthearted; there’s obvious deliberate comic moments and Robert Armstrong’s Carl Denham is a consistent wisecracker
Always nice to see Terror of Mechagodzilla ranked so highly. Absolutely love that movie. Can totally respect where all these are placed. The only one that would be higher somewhere for me would be Hedorah.
Another one that surprised me with how much I liked it as an adult. I think the problem it had was it was just too close in name to the previous MG and it was a pretty major tonal shift after so many campy entries. I think it was my favorite human story of the bunch, but then the human drama is never really that interesting... it just needs to be interesting enough to hold you over until the next monster fight.
@@stevenclubb7718I completely agree even my dad in his 50s still puts on the movie when he’s bored that’s the one he’s always into
I love your videos Big Action Bill. I know you're sorta becoming a Godzilla historian so I got something that I've read that I'd like to recommend to you. The book is called The Big Book of Japanese Giant Monsters: The Lost Movie, it's in my opinion a really good encyclopedia of most of the unproduced Godzilla movies alongside the other stuff. I think you'd enjoy it with how in detail it goes into.
Hey man I love your channel, the Godzilla stuff is great. But you can’t imagine my shock when I realized you are the same guy who did the mike Francesca parody’s that got shown on opie and Anthony. You are a gem sir
Lmaaao love it
@@BigActionBill godzilla is not going to reach the mainland mkay? What are you guys doing in the back there. You have a Seismo-what?
While I would personally have some of the list swapped around, I heavily agree with the top three! Gojira brings the deeper, more mature tones, while Ghidorah does the opposite(for the most part), and Terror of Mechagodzilla has an almost perfect balance of goof and tragedy that I absolutely adore. A very entertaining watch as always, Mr. B.A.B.
Great to run into you, thank you so much for posting the video of Death's whistle from the Last Wish, I come back to that all the time.
The little extra for the playlist is actually a really great idea. I listen to that from time to time at work makes for a good way to pass time.
As Godzilla fan … I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t know about this channel. Well I corrected this by subbing! Thanks for the video
Great list Bill. My top 5 would definitely be G54, terror of mg (God rest Takayam's soul) since it was the first Goji film I ever saw, Ghidorah the 3 headed monster, Godzilla vs Mothra and than Ebriah. Since I watched these so many times as a kid. Lol I'm so glad they never made those unmade films, however I did like some of the aspects of Bride of Godzilla. I actually adapted it into a stop motion film and gave it a serious tone. Always look forward to your new videos
5:26 that's a great edit😂
Noice list and keep up the good work on your videos :)
I hope we get more rankings for the rest of the eras ❤
Ranking the Heisei Godzilla movies will be the most interesting because all of them are good in their own way and it'll be hard to rank one over the other.
So guys what's your favorite from that era? I think mine is Godzilla vs biollante.
I just want to give you a thanks for giving me something to watch and listen to over these past few months. As well as reminding me how much I love Godzilla and The Jurassic films. Once again thanks Bill!
It's so cool how the Monsterverse recycled the Hollow Earth concept
I have loved this series you’ve made, thank you for all the hard work, excited for what’s to come!
This ranking was fun. I love that every fan has their own order. I agree with the general placements of yours but the specifics- especially 1, whaaaat?! Haha- differ.
Would love updated rankings of the other eras, or a big one of the whole series.
I am personally outraged that you'd rank Goji '54 at #2. Congratulations on another worthy addition to the masterpiece you're building here. 10/10 fricheks
I was worried you'd stopped uploading videos when I first found this series, but the fact you went back to redo old work you were dissatisfied is respectful and admirable. You've done a great job!
Love Big Action Bill. Great video, awesome breakdowns..some really shocking choices but I respect them all.
i’m watching this film series for the first time and your videos have been one of the best parts of the experience, thanks
I completely agree with your assessment on All Monsters Attack. Many people seemed to have forgotten the good things about the film and its message.
Problem is why have a anti bullying message and have said kid prank a random dude minding his own business in the end?
The message isn't really that good
@@Kaiju-bm4ts the only thing I can think of is that kids who don't get enough attention from their parents are more vulnerable to peer pressure
@@BubbaUltra then there was no point in the anti bullying message if said kid still fell victim to peer pressure. If anything he should of done the opposite and not prank a random dude for no reason.
@@Kaiju-bm4ts the movie wasn't just about antibullying. It was also about how parents at the time couldn't spend much time with their kids. A result of this is the kid becoming a bully themselves.
@@BubbaUltra then that's a all around bad message for a kid's film, regardless of how true or relevant the message was for the time. It has anti bullying themes but also wants to show how bullies are born by having the main protagonist become one?. Yeah how he became what he hated, totally not contradictory or makes the build up to him fighting his bully utterly pointless.
I respect Honda but this was definitely not his greatest work, in terms of budget and message. He should of picked one message and stuck with it. Not fuse both together.
Great job this video brings back some great memories and I miss being a kid and watching these movies over and over
another great video brotha thank you
Great ranking man!
interesting ranking, I like the historical bit towards the end
Those unmade Godzilla movie ideas were insane lol
I love how you share your enthusiasm for these movies.
John LeMay is definitely super knowledgeable on Godzilla amongst other topics. He definitely helped us in our Godzilla ranking video. Loved your rankings, and videos in general. Keep it up!
I agree with you on hating the ending of Mothra vs Godzilla. Not just the fact that he lost but how he lost is always what gets me. 4 year old me would just yell at the tv “just go forward godzilla!!” As I get older, I have no issue with the larva saving the day, but I wish it could’ve been in a more creative way
Thank you, and welcome back!
Awesome as always Bill.
Interesting and bold list for sure but I respect your authenticity.
I've always really liked Terror of MechaGodzilla. The final shot accompanied with the score I find breathtaking.
It's not so much the order of the list, which is totally personal, and therefore can't be held against you for your opinion. I agree with you on several areas, mainly I prefer the Heisei era myself, and find it hard to list the Showa era movies. But if I did, Destroy All Monsters and the 1954 original would be tops, with everything else following in some order. Our last ones are similar though, for the same reasons. Good list! I love your take on the films! Keep this up!
Love me some new BigActionBill
Not going to lie, my blood pressure raised when you started the list with one of my favorite movies, Godzilla vs Gigan, but I still got love for you Bill and your videos.
You’re the best Kaiju-Tuber out there, thanks for all the great work man! This stuff was my childhood, and it’s been awesome getting to learn so much and rediscover these old gems…

Love your videos, haven't watched any of the old godzilla movies in a long time as a kid I remember watching son of godzilla and mechagodzilla a lot. I will def watch some now there are a good amount on HBO max :P. Take care brother!
This makes me want to go back and rewatch all of these in order and reevaluate how I feel about them. I haven’t watched the Showa films in over a decade and I would love to revisit them.
GTTHM is 100% understandable. I chose it as 1 of 3 ESSENTIAL Godzilla movies, period. It's so important and just good. A great corner stone.
I’m guessing Godzilla 54 is one of those too, but what’s the 3rd one. Shin? Mothra vs Godzilla? Godzilla 2014?
@filmkid8221 watch the videos and find out :P
Great channel.
Godzilla vs Megalon is my favorite. It’s the for Godzilla movie I remember seeing. I was probably 10 or 11 and our local theater would show summer afternoon movies for fifty cents. I saw this movie twice. I still love it today.
Watching through junezilla and it is nice seeing another view on one of my favorite film franchises of all time.
Great channel and great video ! Keep up the good work !!
What is the book that have at the beginning of the video ? Looks awesome.
Awesome stuff, definitives schmimitives ❤
Good list. And I understand how nostalgia and your 'first watch' experience or childhood watches can influence you. I love the more serious movies for sure. And Godzilla vs Megalon is pretty crap as a Godzilla movie.... but as a kid, I saw that so many times on Monster Week marathons, that I still can't help but have nostalgic love for it lol
Hey which picture books are you using in the video?
Also my ranking as of right now is
15. Godzilla's Revenge
14. Godzilla vs Megalon
13. Godzilla Raids Again
12. Ebirah horror of the deep
11. Godzilla vs Gigan
10. Son of Godzilla
9. Godzilla vs Hedorah

7.Destroy All Monsters
6. Terror of MechaGodzilla
5. Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla
4. Godzilla
3. Ghidorah the 3 headed monster
2. Mothra vs Godzilla
1. King Kong vs Godzilla
Been a huge Goji fan since I was a child and surprisingly started with the late Heisei through Millennium era as a young boy. I cannot wait for the Millennium era -- specificially Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla, the first Godzilla DVD I owned before buying the Showa anniversary collection.
These rankings definitely are a ranking though, but thank you for giving me a HUGE look into the making of the movies I love!
Uff I agree with most movies in top spots but rest of the list got me scratching my head hard :D
It's refreshing to see a Godzilla ranking video where they don't just slap Godzilla's Revenge on the bottom of the list
Hey bill, just a suggestion.
Maybe for future videos do history videos for other kaiju movies in the toho universe. Like war of the gargantuas, rodan, gorath. Or even a history of jaws since you mentioned loving that film so much.Make them shorter videos like in the 10 minute range? Sort of an anthology series. I know you have requests for other films like gamera. But just throwing out suggestions. Thank you.
Hi Bill. I love all your reviews. I completely agree. "Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster" is my favorite Showa era film, maybe my fav of all time. When I'm in the mood for a G film, it's my go to movie. You didn't mention the build up and pacing are great. Also it's so significant because it's the moment when Godzilla goes from being a villain to a hero, and according to David Kalat, because he can speak and converse with other monsters. I wish we could have had a scene where Godzilla and Rodan mutually decided to help Mothra. BTW, for enjoyment sake, my #2 is Mothra vs Godzilla and #3 is G vs. Mechagodzilla
Three headed monster was one of my first movies in the franchise in the Showa era.
keep the channel alive!
It’d be nice to see some “History Of:” videos for the Toho Showa-era kaiju movies that don’t involve Godzilla, like The Mysterians, Varan The Unbelievable, Rodan The Flying Monster, Mothra, Atragon, and others.
Godzilla vs gigan …my fav showa era movie placed last 🙈 …seriously I was shocked when I found out so many dislike it….when growing up it was one my fav and I assumed everyone else thought the same
Lmao, I think a lot of people do like it, the characters are fun
@@BigActionBill They are fun and monsters are awesome, still im shocked it was that disliked, think I would have rather stayed in my own bubble and not come on the internet to realise its disliked......still awesome to me and my fave....except maybe destroy all monsters because its the first i saw.
You know, it's probably one of my three least favorite Godzilla films, but you know what? Don't let me or anyone else interfere with how much you love it! How you respond to a film and how you enjoy it is about you and not about how anyone else sees something. I saw it when it was released in theaters under the title Godzilla on monster Island... Yes I'm that old LOL. And I'm afraid the plot and the horrible utilization of stock footage and the number of other things just makes me dislike it although I think gigan is a really awesome design. But the fact is you love it! So treasure it and love it and don't ever let anyone on the internet make you feel any less about it!
@@CL-pd9cp man you are really old haha, i was born 1990 , so way after released i was born. I loved it as a kid, and I still love it as an adult , one my fav from showa era & gigan one my fav godzilla villains probably my fav, even higher than ghidorah thats saying something...considering hidorah was the first g villain i came to know
I have no issue with your list. But then again, "Godzilla vs. Hedorah" a.k.a "Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster" would be my #1 since that was the first Godzilla movie I saw in theaters as a kid back in the 1972.
I also saw it in theaters when it was first issued. I even have the one sheet poster signed by nakajima and satsuma. It's actually the only '70s Godzilla film I genuinely enjoy, even if it's almost plotless and the Godzilla flying scene is truly an awful idea. But there's something about its weirdness that is oddly endearing. It's not good mind you, but it is enjoyable. I have a beautiful print of it from the brand new 4k restoration and I've synced it up to the original AIP dub, one of the few films I actually prefer the dub for for largely nostalgic reasons
@@CL-pd9cp That is awesome!!
My top 5 Showa films are ranked as such:
5. Terror of Mechagodzilla
4. King Kong vs Godzilla
3. Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla
2. Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster
1. Godzilla (1954)
I was so happy just to see this... Then, I saw the video is 24 minutes long... It's a good day. Even better than I thought it'd be.
That “Kingu Shiza” bit always cracks me tf up
Also, saw some Evangelion B Roll in this one- do you like the series? Would love reviews of the show/films!
3:17 I literally yelled out "NOOOOOOOO"
Delightful.
I agree with most of your logic, honestly. I love the original film. It's a masterpiece that had a deep message and still hold up today.
Having said that, it's among the last Godzilla films I'd watch for pleasure. I've seen it dozens of times over the last 30 years, but it's never a go to.
If I'm watching a solo Godzilla film, it's either going to be '84 (my favorite, and '85 in particular), or Shin (probably the best G film if I'm being honest with myself).
Also, I completely understand you're bitterness to MvG. He lost to a pair of effing caterpillars. lol
Also, big ups for putting Terror so high! Growing up, that was my favorite after 1985. I really enjoyed the time and care you gave to that one and made me look at it in a few new lights, making it even better.
Great list, great wrap up. Can't wait for more!
Great video though I almost died laughing as Godzilla coming back as Jesus Christ. 😂😂😂😂
I caught a mispronunciation-
It's pronounced Die- uh- BEE- tus
As usual, a delight to see one of your videos show up in the ol' subscription tab
Bio Action Bill made me appreciate how much I love Godzilla. 💚😌
What I love about Godzilla is even the objectively worse Godzilla movies have their dedicated fans. Some people love Gigan, Raids Again, Megalon, and Hedorah.
Godzilla vs. Megalon was my first G-man movie. Surprisingly, I became a fan. 😅
Based Bill putting the objective number 1 Showa Godzilla movie correctly at number 1
Ghidrah was my first Godzilla movie too, saw it in theater in either 1965 or 1966....hooked immediately
1. 1954
2. Invasion of Astro Monster
3 Mothra vs Godzilla
4. Son of Godzilla
5. Terror of MechaGodzilla
6. Ebirah
7. Ghidorah
8. Vs Gigan
9. Vs MechaGodzilla
10.Vs Megalon
11. Destroy All Monsters
12: King Kong vs Godzilla
13: Vs Hedorah
14: Raids Again
15: All Monsters Attack
I love Godzilla revenge! As a kid
I always waited for it to come on in late afternoon on channel 11 in New York. I really understand the kid
I also was a latch key kid.
Ghidorah is also my favorite of the Showa era and in my top 5 Godzilla movies. It was the 3rd Godzilla movie I saw( after Mothra and King Kong) so it was cathartic to see Goji become a good guy or at least fight a threat to the good guys. As a fellow Godzilla fan, thanks for your work and curious to hear about the other eras.
I don't care what anyone says, that script for Bride of Godzilla sounds awesome.
Honestly I feel like this about the Terror of MechaGodzilla. It was my first. My Dad took me out one Saturday afternoon for SOME reason. We walked passed the old theater on Jamaica Ave and 165st in good ole' Queens NY. About 45 minutes later I was absolutely in love. One of the greatest memories I have. He hated it but let me sit through it twice. So I kinda owe him. Fun fact: he also got me into my second love unwittingly. We passed Woolworth and had to stop for something but when we got to the counter I saw the Marvel comics Transformers issue 3 with Spider-Man in his black costume fighting MEGATRON!! And yes he bitched about the 75 cents😂...
Vs. Gigan is a little slow, but I love the alien cockroach subplot, and the soundtrack is one of my favorites.
So are you done with the “History of…” series? There’s still a few movies you can do, but it’s your channel/videos, you decide how the series goes
I just would’ve loved to see the anime movies and series covered, along with the Legendary Monsterverse. You’ve done an amazing job from day 1, and you’ve become my personal definitive Godzilla review/retrospective channel. Keep up the good work
Pre liked!
We finally get to hear more of your opinion! No more beint subjective, but man you didnt have to do godzilla vs hedorah like that!
'Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster' is also the first Godzilla film I ever saw, and like you it's also my favorite. My stepdad had the VHS when I was younger, along with a few others ('Mechagodzilla' being another favorite among them), so I watched the movie not expecting much, but I ended up falling in love with everything about it. Thirty years later Godzilla is still just about the only thing my stepdad and I have ever had in common, interest-wise, so the franchise is rather special to me in that way.
When I did my viewing of Godzilla flicks a few years ago (a few for the first time), I was surprised at how much I enjoyed All Monsters Attack considering its reputation. I think it helps if you approach it as a movie set in the real world with a lonely kid dreaming himself into his favorite movie series rather than trying to place it in the Godzilla Universe. There's a goofy kid logic to it that I found endearing. Still not a great movie, but the emotional beats land pretty well.
Thats sad to hear Yukiko just passed away. May she rest in peace. She wrote one of my childhood favorite Showa films.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the series Ultra Q. RUclipsr Monster Kid Cory turned me on to the series when he said it was like a cross between Kaiju and the old Twilight Zone series.
Also the YOU WHAT?! gets me everytims
I can understand why you put Godzilla vs Megalon lower on the list. But what if we could make it better? I've been doing by own version of the movie. It's called Godzilla vs. the Kabuton Brothers: The Undersea Kingdom's SOS Stategy.
Instead of one, there are two Megalon's. Both are robot's representing Seatopia’s ancient guardians from long ago. I also changed Megalon from Kabuton because I felt this new name fits better. One of them causes a volcanic eruption and earthquake on Monster island, sending the monsters fleeing except for Godzilla. After a battle, Godzilla chases Megalon to Japan. Goro Ibuki and his younger brother Hiroshi Ibuki see the second Megalon after it drains the water from Lake Kitayama. Instead of being villain's, the Seatopian’s are victims of the nuclear tests and help Goro improve Jet Jaguar. I also improved and expanded on Seatopia's history and cut out the part about them being allies with the M Space Nebula aliens since it's never explained how they came to know each other. So no Gigan in my story.
I made Goro and Hiroshi brothers instead of friends in the movie. In the film there was no given reason why JJ was created. But now there is. In a flashback, you learn that JJ was a project by Goro and Hiroshi's parents for the propose of fighting monsters until they are both killed during Gigan and King Ghidorah's rampage through Tokyo in Godzilla vs. Gigan. It's not the most original idea. You see it in other tokusatsu shows, but what else are you going to do with a giant robot. Let it fight monsters, no duh! Jet Jaguar is later upgraded in the story as an advanced A.I. and can talk just like in Godzilla SP. He has new abilities, ranging from a finishing move called the Plasma Beam from his wrists when he crosses them in a X fashion. Jet Jaguar can also fire a taser-like attachment from is right arm and a deploy a pepper-spray from his left arm. To freeze his enemy’s, Jet Jaguar can shoot a liquid nitrogen spray from his mouth.
So there! I just fixed the movie! What do you think? Do any of you have any ideas that can improve Godzilla vs. Megalon? Let me know in the comment section below please.
@@treystephens6166 Punch! Punch! Punch! Thanks. What do you think of the idea?
Decent ranking
At first I was like let’s gooo!
Then Gigan got nuked - and Megalon - all before Gabara?
