It is fun to see people's wildly different opionions! To me, Godzilla vs Gigan is probably my favorite showa movie (not counting the original movie)! Wouldn't say is the best, because for me that spot goes to Ghidora the three headed monster, but I had so much fun watching it! The action feels great and the only real shortcoming I can see it having is the overuse of stock images, Ghidora being stiff af and Godzilla tower being super strong for no reason. But in any case I really loved it! I read Toho Kingdom about Godzilla vs Gigan this movie uses 12 previous movies stock footage (Rodan, The Mysterians, The Last War, Mothra Vs Godzilla, Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster, Invasion of Astro-Monster, Godzilla vs the Sea Monster, The War of the Gargantuas, Son of Godzilla, Destroy All Monsters, All Monsters Attack, Godzilla vs Hedorah) more then All Monsters Attack using previous stock footage uses 5 Movies
Yeah that’s why I’m so shocked that so many people want to defend the movie, it goes overboard with the stock footage and if it all got removed the movie would probably at best be under an hour long! 😂
The second larva isn’t Battra. The whole back story is different and a it’s a different universe. Very simply the one that died is the one that grabbed Godzilla’s tail and he flailed it around and slammed it around. Blunt trauma’s a bitch lol.
Godzilla Raids Again was the first movie in the franchise I ever saw as a kid, back on an old home-recorded VHS, and it's always been one of my favorites, so it's heart breaking to see it ranked so low. I can fully acknowledge what a flawed and lower quality movie it is, but I still enjoy it for being the first kaiju brawl, for introducing my favorite monster with Anguirus, and for having the main human cast be more directly involved with the movie's events. Sure he's an utter dweeb, but I've always found Kobayashi endearing. And while the side plot with the convicts gets a lot of hate, I personally love the idea, with these three random assholes having their own misadventure in the midst of a kaiju attack, almost like an unintentional spiritual ancestor to Cloverfield. Still, at least glad to see that Mechagodzilla got the ranking it deserved, even if I've never quite forgiven it for sidelining Anguirus in favor of the relatively disappointing King Caesar.
